• Selenium Webdriver (FirefoxDriver)

  Hey all, I'm using Selenium Webdriver to do some robottesting. Since some functions appear to only work in Firefox, I'm obligated to use Firefoxdriver. Now and then, something weird happens. Starting up te driver driver = new FirefoxDriver(); driver.get(URL); gets firefox to startup but not to go to the specified url. The strange thing is that it works on another computer with the same preferences set in Firefox. I solved this problem once by changing to another version of firefox, but this time this doesn't do the trick for me, it did however worked for the other developers. Yes, the error started for all developers on the same time, same day... My first question is: is it a firefox problem or Webdriver problem. • Can't click allow button in flash on firefox

  I have a webapp embedding some flash content in an iframe. The flash part is requesting access to the webcam. On firefox/mac os, user's can't click the allow button. This only happens when the page embedding the swf file is loaded in the iframe, it works fine when laded separately. Has anyone else faced a similar problem? D you know any workarounds? Thanks, Alex

• Flash - Firefox issue

  I realised that if I do have a flash object and do not include a 'wmode' attribute, I will not be able to overlay HTML because the flash will always play on top. But if I do include a 'wmode:transparent' , the flash object completely disappears in firefox, whereas if I use 'wmode:opaque' , I get a white box in place of the Flash object. I've looked at many forums - many questions - but somehow everyone's problem gets resolved when they use one of the aforementioned attributes. So....HELP !!! Note: using either attribute works in IE.

  hi, im a bit new at extension development, but im about to embark upon a project to build a ffox extension. Does anyone know if its possbile, with minimal adaption, to make a firefox extension compatible with ie8 as a plugin and if so, are there any caveats i should be aware of?   I am trying to do "POST" with XMLHttpRequest in a firefox extension, and after that I try to get the "Location" header and open it in a new tab. For some reason, the XMLHttpRequest doesn't contain a location header. My code function web(url,request) { var http = new XMLHttpRequest(); http.open('POST',url,true); http.setRequestHeader('Content-Type','application/x-www-form-urlencoded'); http.onreadystatechange=function() { if(http.readyState == 2) { alert(http.getResponseHeader("Location")); } } http.send(request); } Also, if I change the alert to getAllResponseHeaders() to see all headers, I just don't see the location header there. If I try to spy on the request of the original site with Firebug, it does show me the location header in the response. Please help me resolve my issues. Thanks :) P.S. I'm also unable to open a link in new tab using window.open(url, this.window.title);, but as that's not directly related to the rest of this I'll post a separate question to ask about it.

• Spacing differences between IE7 and Firefox/Opera/Chrome

  I have an ongoing issue with the amount of vertical space of unordered lists in IE7 vs. Firefox/Chrome/Opera and I can't seem to find a solution out there. In IE7, the space is less and what I would like to see. In Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, the space between is about twice as much. I can't account for any of the spacing issues in my code or page. • Problems with contenteditable in Firefox

  Hello, I am working on a Javascript WYSIWYG editor in Firefox. I am using a div with the contenteditable attribute set to true in order to accomplish this (I cannot use a contenteditable iframe for this particular project). This contenteditable div is nested in another div that is not contenteditable. I am encountering the following two problems when using execCommand to apply formatting, including font style and size, as well as bold, italic, and underline: When all text in the div is selected, execCommand simply does not work. execCommand works fine when only part of the text is selected, but does nothing when all of the text is selected. Applying formatting with no text selected yields unexpected results. For example, when calling execCommand('bold') with no text selected and then typing results in bold text being typed until a spacebar is inserted, at which point the bold formatting is lost (until another space is inserted, interestingly enough; then the text becomes bold again). To see what I mean, please try running the following HTML code in Firefox 3: <html> <head><title></title></head> <body> <button onClick="execCommand('bold', false, null);">Bold</button> <div style="width: 300px; border: 1px solid #000000;"> <div contenteditable="true">Some editable text</div> </div> </body> </html> Please try the following: Select the word "Some" only. Click the Bold button. This will make the text bold, as expected. Select the entire phrase "Some editable text" (either manually or using CTRL-A). Click the Bold button. Nothing happens. This demonstrates the first bug shown above. Hit the backspace key to clear the div. Click the Bold button and begin typing. Type a few words with spaces. This will demonstrate the second bug. Any ideas on what could be causing these problems and how to work around them would be greatly appreciated!

• Problem with type coercion and string concatenation in JavaScript in Greasemonkey script on Firefox

  I'm creating a GreaseMonkey script to improve the user interface of the 10k tools Stack Overflow uses. I have encountered an unreproducible and frankly bizarre problem that has confounded me and the others in the JavaScript room on SO Chat. We have yet to find the cause after several lengthy debugging sessions. The problematic script can be found here. Source - Install The problem occurs at line 85, the line after the 'vodoo' comment: return (t + ' (' + +(+f.offensive + +f.spam) + ')'); It might look a little weird, but the + in front of the two variables and the inner bracket is for type coercion, the inner middle + is for addition, and the other ones are for concatenation. Nothing special, but observant reader might note that type coercion on the inner bracket is unnecessary, since both are already type coerced to numbers, and type coercing result is useless when they get concatenated into a string anyway. Not so! Removing the + breaks the script, causing f.offensive and f.spam to be concatenated instead of added together. Adding further console.log only makes things more confusing: console.log(f.offensive + f.spam); // 50 console.log('' + (+f.offensive + +f.spam)); // 5, but returning this yields 50 somehow console.log('' + (+f.offensive + +f.spam) + ''); // 50 Source: http://chat.stackoverflow.com/transcript/message/203261#203261 The problem is that this is unreproducible - running scripts like console.log('a' + (+'3' + +'1') + 'b'); in the Firebug console yields the correct result, as does (function(){ return 'a' + (+'3' + +'1') + 'b'; })(); Even pulling out large chunks of the code and running them in the console does not reproduce this bug: $('.post-menu a[id^=flag-post-]').each(function(){ var f = {offensive: '4', spam: '1'}; if(f){ $(this).text(function(i, t){ // Vodoo - please do not remove the '+' in front of the inner bracket return (t + ' (' + +(+f.offensive + +f.spam) + ')'); }); } }); Tim Stone in the chatroom has reproduction instruction for those who are below 10k. This bug only appears in Firefox - Chrome does not appear to exhibit this problem, leading me to believe that this may be a problem with either Firefox's JavaScript engine, or the Greasemonkey add-on. • bing api 2.0 sdk json samples got syntax error in Firefox browser

  I just downloaded the Bing API 2.0 SDK. There are several html files in Bing API 2.0 SDK\Samples\JSON directory. I replaced the AppId in the JavaScript with my new AppId.
