Creating date based back entries for a blog and its site registration

So I am showing a blog to a colleague and telling him how the author has been regularly blogging for over ten years now. My colleague tells me that anyone can register a domain name and start entries from say circa 2000. When I argued that the site registration date can easily show that the registration was done recently he put forward two arguments: The author can claim that he moved from an old domain name which was registered many years ago and lapsed. So he took the data and rebuilt it in the new site. The author can buy an expired domain which was on the internet for many years. I am not sure if these ways can work to con someone to believing you have been a blogger for over a decade. But I do not have enough expertise in the topic to refute him. So I thought I would ask the wise community here at StackExchange. Can anyone give me some insight?

Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 DFW DevCamp (Silverlightpalooza) is around the corner

It is really shaping up to be everything I had hoped. Prizes are stacked up behind me. Food is in place. I have a set of wonderful volunteers beside me. The event has been full for weeks. I will not be doing any official blogging for this event here. I finished building a website for an online chess club which I am a member of. This is my first website. The site has blogging feature so the members can log in and write blog posts and comment on other posts. The membership is limited to users of an online chess site (freechess.org) and any member of that site can join this site as well. I was wondering, is it needed to put up a terms and conditions for my new website? If so, can I have a model of that? I searched and found some models but they are all for big sites that have e-commerce etc.

Better way to search for text in two columns

Here is the scenario. I am making a custom blogging software for my site. I am implementing a search feature. It's not very sophisticated - basically it just takes the search phrase entered and runs this query: $query="SELECT * FROM `blog` WHERE `title` LIKE '%$q%' OR `post` LIKE '%$q%'"; Which is meant to simply search the title and post body for the phrase entered. Is there a better way to do that, keeping in mind how long it would take to run the query on up to 100 rows, each with a post length of up to 1500 characters? I have considered using a LIMIT statement to (sometimes) restrict the number of rows that the query would examine. Good idea?

A Change of Seasons...

As some of you already know, today is my last day at Scottrade. It has been a great place to work and I'll miss all the relationships I've formed over the last 5 years immensely! Starting Monday, I will be taking a new position at Amazon.com in Seattle. It should be an exciting new adventure and I look forward to sharing more about my experiences in the days to come! I do intend to continue blogging (after the move settles down) about C# as I'm able, and may mix in some Java as well as I rekindle (Amazon? Kindle? Get it? Okay, that was lame, I know...) my knowledge of the language for my new job responsibilities. I'll miss all the relationships I've developed with the .NET community in St. Louis and the surrounding area, and hope to come back sometime to participate in future Days of .NET conferences, if able! What amount of PHP memory usage is reasonable for multiple WordPress sites? [closed]

It seems like I've been plagued with memory usage issues most of the time I've been blogging (7 years). I upgraded my hosting to a HostGator VPS and still seem to have issues. I have about a dozen WP 3.4.2 sites running within a single account. Each has a separate installation. I finally installed TPC! Memory Usage within one of my WP installs to see what was going on. The memory usage just standing still is on the order of 40 MB. This seems high, but I don't know. What would be a reasonable memory usage for these WP installs? Do I need to take other things into account, or am I even looking at it the right way?

My plan is very simple – to share with you (and possibly myself along the way) relevant information about tools and techniques that you can use (or perhaps shouldn’t use) to solve problems with code. Most of my employers have paid me to develop solutions using Microsoft tools and technologies, so you will see them heavily represented here. I also plan to avoid having this blog function simply as a link aggregator, so I promise that it will be rare for you to find entries in my blog consisting solely of a link to someone else’s blog or a webcast – if I do have such links they will at least be accompanied by commentary. This is my first venture into the world of blogging, so please let me know how I'm doing (be nice) and feel free to suggest/request topics for future entries.

What's the best way to include a hosted blog on a site?

The way I see it you have a couple of options for including a blog on your site. Roll your own Install Something Like Wordpress Use a hosted service like Tumblr Obviously, if you can get away with Option 3 you have done yourself a favor. I have been using Tumblr and pointing blog.mydomain.com to the domains.tumblr.com CNAME to get a free blog that looks like it belongs to my site. I want to be able to display my blog on my root level hostname like mydomain.com/blog. The whole point of moving from blog.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/blog is for SEO purposes. Whats the best way to go about this and still get to leverage a hosted blogging platform like Tumblr?

android webview returns blank page when load dynamic html page

I am trying to click one button to load a page into a div block dynamically. To test it, I try to append a list item with text "abc" into the loaded page. However, I always get a blank page. load function works fine because if I try to load a static page, it works. Why isn't the Spring AOP XML schema properly loaded when Tomcat loads & reads beans.xml

I'm trying to use Spring's Schema Based AOP Support in Eclipse and am getting errors when trying to load the configuration in Tomcat. There are no errors in Eclipse and auto-complete works correctly for the aop namespace, however when I try to load the project into eclipse I get this error: 09:17:59,515 WARN XmlBeanDefinitionReader:47 - Ignored XML validation warning org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: schema_reference.4: Failed to read schema document 'http://www.springframework.org/schema/aop/spring-aop-2.5.xsd', because 1) could not find the document; 2) the document could not be read; 3) the root element of the document is not . Followed by: SEVERE: StandardWrapper.Throwable org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionStoreException: Line 39 in XML document from /WEB-INF/beans.xml is invalid; nested exception is org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.c: The matching wildcard is strict, but no declaration can be found for element 'aop:config'. Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.c: The matching wildcard is strict, but no declaration can be found for element 'aop:config'. Based on this, it seems the schema is not being read when Tomcat parses the beans.xml file, leading to the <aop:config> element not being recognised.
