• Cisco ASA (Client VPN) to LAN - through second VPN to second LAN

  We have 2 site that is linked by an IPSEC VPN to remote Cisco ASAs: Site 1 1.5Mb T1 Connection Cisco(1) 2841 Site 2 1.5Mb T1 Connection Cisco 2841 In addition: Site 1 has a 2nd WAN 3Mb bonded T1 Connection Cisco 5510 that connects to same LAN as Cisco(1) 2841. Basically, Remote Access (VPN) users connecting through Cisco ASA 5510 needs access to a service at the end of Site 2. This is due to the way the service is sold - Cisco 2841 routers are not under our management and it is setup to allow connection from local LAN VLAN 1 IP address 10.20.0.0/24. My idea is to have all traffic from Remote Users through Cisco ASA destined for Site 2 to go via the VPN between Site 1 and Site 2. The end result being all traffic that hits Site 2 has come via Site 1. I'm struggling to find a great deal of information on how this is setup. So, firstly, can anyone confirm that what I'm trying to achieve is possible? Secondly, can anyone help me to correct the configuration bellow or point me in the direction of an example of such a configuration? • volume group disappeared after xfs_check run

  EDIT** I have a volume group consisting of 5 RAID1 devices grouped together into a lvm and formatted with xfs. The 5th RAID device lost its RAID config (cat /proc/mdstat does not show anything). The two drives are still present (sdj and sdk), but they have no partitions. The LVM appeared to be happily using sdj up until recently. (doing a pvscan showed the first 4 RAID1 devices + /dev/sdj) I removed the LVM from the fstab, rebooted, then ran xfs_check on the LV. It ran for about half an hour, then stopped with an error. I tried rebooting again, and this time when it came up, the logical volume was no longer there. It is now looking for /dev/md5, which is gone (though it had been using /dev/sdj earlier). /dev/sdj was having read errors, but after replacing the SATA cable, those went away, so the drive appears to be fine for now. Can I modify the /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol, change the device to /dev/sdj and do a vgcfgrestore? I could try doing a pvcreate --uuid KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ /dev/sdj to make it recognize it, but I'm afraid that would erase the data on the drive UPDATE: just changing the pv to point to /dev/sdj did not work vgcfgrestore --file /etc/lvm/backup/dedvol dedvol Couldn't find device with uuid 'KZron2-pPTr-ZYeQ-PKXX-4Woq-6aNc-AG4rRJ'. • Is there a command to change primary group for a new user in Cygwin?

  Is there a way to set a (new) user's primary group in Cygwin's /etc/passwd file without hand-editing the file? I have a local group set up for members of the Dev Team on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box so that we can all modify a particular group files, but the regular users can only read them. As some of the work we do uses scripts that rely on Cygwin tools, this group is also in the /etc/group file. When I need to add a new user to the "Dev Team" group, I add them in Server Manager, and then use mkpasswd to add that user to Cygwin's /etc/passwd file. Unfortunately, they get the regular Domain Users group assigned as their primary group and I then have to go in and edit the passwd file to change the group. I now need to write some instructions for someone else who is not au fait with UNIX/Linux/Cygwin so that they can set up new Dev Team users and obviously "hand editing" /etc/passwd is a recipe for disaster if you don't know what you're doing. So, is there a way of getting mkpasswd to set a different primary group, or another tool like Linux's usermod which can be used for the purpose of changing the group in a more controlled manner?

  Am 28.5 findet in Köln die dotnet Cologne 2010 statt, eine von der .NET User Group Köln und der von mir geleiteten Gruppe Bonn-to-Code.Net gemeinsam organisierten Konferenz zum Launch von Visual Studio 2010 und .NET Framework 4. Die Registrierung ist seit Anfang März möglich, und obwohl es bisher kaum konkrete Details zu den Sprechern und Vorträgen gab, haben sich bereits über 250 Teilnehmer angemeldet. Das zeugt von hervorragender Mund-zu-Mund-Propaganda, nicht zuletzt ein klares Zeichen für den Erfolg der letztjährigen dotnet Cologne 2009. Hinter den Kulissen brach ein wahrer Sturm von Vortragsvorschlägen über das Orga-Team (bestehend aus Stefan Lange, Albert Weinert und mir) herein. In mehreren Runden versuchten wir, die richtige Mischung zwischen einführenden und tiefgehenden Themen zu finden. Dabei wurde schnell klar, dass wir nicht mit den ursprünglich geplanten drei Tracks auskommen würden. Deshalb haben wir nach reiflicher Überlegung einen vierten Track eingerichtet, darüber hinaus bieten wir - nach dem Vorbild anderer Konferenzen - dieses Jahr auch Lunch-Sessions an. Seit heute steht nun ein Großteil der Vorträge offiziell fest, nur noch einige wenige Slots sind noch frei. Wer bisher mit der Anmeldung gezögert hat, sollte schnell einen Blick hineinwerfen und sich entscheiden. Denn ab einer der Marke von 300 Teilnehmern wird eine Warteliste eingerichtet. Zwar werden erfahrungsgemäß später einige Plätze wieder frei, aber wer ganz sicher einen Platz bei der dotnet Cologne 2010 haben möchte, sollte sich bald anmelden. • Degrading administrative privilege to standard with single admin user account

  I recently met with a severe issue with user accounts. In my system, there is only administrator user named vivek. I added another user with name vivi and changed its privilege to administrator. After clicked on my username, vivek,and changed its privilege to standard. Since vivek is being the current user, I dropped with all administrator privileges. No password was set for the new administrator user vivi and hence it was disabled by default. I no longer access to any administrative activities. Later I corrected this by editing etc/group file. Isn't this a severe bug? Being the current administrator user, how could I degrade myself to a standard user and got out from administrator's seat? I did not get any warning messages indicating no other administrators exists to manage my system. I suggest this warning should be included there in user accounts when an administrator user changes his privilege without any enabled administrators. Your thoughts?

HTML::anchor($uri, $title) . '</li>'; } However, I want to find the $uri that matches the current controller and action. And if the action is the default one or not. What I want to end up with is that menu item should have id="active-item" if it is the linking to the current controller, but the default action. And id="active-subitem if it is linking to the current controller and the action is not the default one. Hope that made sense... Anyone able to help me out here? Both in how to do this in Kohana 3 and also how it should be done in Kohana 3. So far I have gotten everything to my liking except one thing: the top of the list does not align with other entries in the table, in fact it looks like it adds one line above the list...   Just wondering if it is possible to show a WPF on a disabled item ONLY (and not when the item is enabled). I would like to give the user a tooltip explaining why an item is currently disabled. I have an IValueConverter to invert the boolean IsEnabled property binding. But it doesn't seem to work in this situation. The tooltip is show both when the item is enabled and disabled. So is is possible to bind a tooltip.IsEnabled property exclusively to an item's own !IsEnabled?   I read from the MySQL Reference Manual and find that when it can take use of index,it just do index scan,other it will create tmp tables and do things like filesort. And I also read from other article that the "Group By" result will sort by group by columns by default,if "order by null" clause added,it won't don filesort. The difference can be found from the "explain ..." clause. so my problem is:what is the difference between "group by" clause that with "order by null" and which doesn't have? • IIS_IUSRS group missing

  I am getting a 500.19 error when going to my site. I've tried to change the permissions on the directory but for some reason since about 2hrs ago the IIS_IUSRS group is completely gone now. I think I messed it up, how can I fix this? Update: I found the group, it just wasn't added to the inetpub folder, but now when I go to the website: www.example.com it forces you to login. I'm new to this web admin think I would GREATLY appreciate any help.

  I want anyone in group www-data to have write access to /var/www. For example, if 'a' and 'b' are in group www-data and 'a' creates a file in /var/www - then 'b' will be able to edit it. The problem is that I create files that PHP and Apache can't edit - and they create files I can't edit without sudo. I changed the umask setting /etc/profile from umask 022 to umask 002. Is this a safe and proper way to handle this?

  We are currently designing a Domain Structure. We would like to have a hierarchy of domains, where a group ploicy on the root domain would propogate to the sub domains. We would also like it such that the administrators of the sub domains are not able to block this group policy. Is this possible?

• adding a name to existing LN group distribution and new individuals do not receive email

  I made a recent edit to an existing group distribution to add a person. I've saved it. I see it in the detail of the group listing but plugging it into an email, the naming convention pops up, but not all people on the distribution actually receive the email. I tried deleting and re-adding the new person. I tried closing out then open up tto the detail, and all names show. How do i solve for this?

• Windows: View "all" permissions of a specific user or group

  For a Windows domain, is there a way to see for a certain user or group, where the user/group has permissions? Primarily: List which files / folders the user can access on a certain network share. (Kind of a recursive "effective permissions") However, other permissions would be cool as well. I believe I've seen such a tool in action, but I can't remember anything beyond that - so this might be a false memory. Recommendations?

• Will restarting the W3SVC Web Publishing Service, also restart the app pool in IIS?

  Background: I'm trying to stop and start IIS on a windows 7 build box, in order to run acceptance tests. But from what I have read, most of the remote web management features have been disabled by Microsoft in a retarted attempt to sell more Windows Server 2008 licenses. Still for some reason they didn't disable the least user-friendly ways of controlling IIS remotely, but they are all a total pain. What I can do easily is remotely stop and start the WWW service from a msbuild task. But I want to be sure that this also restarts the app pool, so that when I copy in new web files the web server there will be serving the most recent version of the website. Question: If I restart the W3SVC windows service, will that also restart the app pool?

• Missing the "add tab group to favorites " option in IE8

  I have internet options selected for quick tabs and tab groups in setting, IE8 WIndows XP. I can open a list of favorites from the menu using the blue arrow as a tab group. I can then use the quick tabs button to show the groups open. However, I do not have the "add tab group to favorites" option in the pull down menu for favotites at the Favorite Bar. Is this a Vista feature only?

• AD reset user passwords for a security group

  I'm not quite sure if this is possible or not, but I need to force a certain security group's users to have their passwords expire so they'll be forced to change them on next login. The reason for this is because I applied a FGPP (password policy) to this particular group in order to enforce strong passwords. Well, many users have really weak passwords and they won't be changed unless they're forced. Is there a way to do this without forcing everyone to a single password?

  I have a user ftpadmin: -bash-3.2$ id ftpadmin uid=10001(ftpadmin) gid=2525(fsg) groups=2525(fsg),10005(git) The important group to note is "git" Then I have my git repository: ls -al drwxrwxr-x 7 git git 4096 Apr 20 14:17 fsg So ftpadmin is a member of git, and git has given all permissions to people in the group. Why do I see this when I login as ftpadmin: -bash-3.2$ ls -al /home/git/ ls: /home/git/fsg: Permission denied ... Seems like I should have permission...
