  Good Evening, and thank you for reading this post. I am having a problem with Django after migrating the dB from SQLlite to MySQL. Initially, for the first 48hours, all ran well. But now we are experiencing high cpu about every 30 minutes. This is a production ESX4i VM host, with 2 x 2.8 ghz CPUs and 12 GB ram. I have allocated 4 cpu's to this VM and 4 GB memory. Any insight into this configuration and help with the spikes in CPU would be appreciated. IT is configured to use the prefork MPM. • Slow performance of MySQL database on one server and fast on another one, with similar configurations

  We have a web application that run on two servers of GoDaddy. We experince slow preformance on our production server, although it has stronger hardware then the testing one, and it is dedicated. I'll start with the configurations. Testing: CentOS Linux 5.8, Linux 2.6.18-028stab101.1 on i686 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5609 @ 1.87GHz, 8 cores 60 GB total, 6.03 GB used Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) MySQL 5.5.21-log PHP Version 5.3.15 Production: CentOS Linux 6.2, Linux 2.6.18-028stab101.1 on x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5410 @ 2.33GHz, 8 cores 120 GB total, 2.12 GB used Apache/2.2.15 (CentOS) MySQL 5.5.27-log - MySQL Community Server (GPL) by Remi PHP Version 5.3.15 We are running the same code on both servers. The Problem We have some function that executes ~30000 PDO-exec commands. On our testing server it takes about 1.5-2 minutes to complete and our production server it can take more then 15 minutes to complete. As you can see here, from qcachegrind: Researching the problem, we've checked the live graphs on phpMyAdmin and discovered that the MySQL server on our testing server was preforming at steady level of 1000 execution statements per 2 seconds, while the slow production MySQL server was only 250 executions statements per 2 seconds and not steady at all, jumping from 0 to 250 every seconds. You can clearly see it in the graphs: Testing server: Production server: You can see here the comparison between both of the configuration of the MySQL servers.Left is the fast testing and right is the slow production. The differences are highlighted, but I cant find anything that can cause such a behavior difference, as the configs are mostly the same. Maybe you can see something that I cant see. Note that our tables are all InnoDB, so the MyISAM difference is (probably) not relevant. Maybe it is the MySQL Community Server (GPL) that is installed on the production server that can cause the slow performance? Or maybe it needs to be configured differently for 64bit ? I'm currently out of ideas...

  i installed mysql mysql-server and mysql-libs ... after installation i thought to start the mysql service using command systemctl start mysqld.service Failed to issue method call: Unit mysqld.service failed to load: Invalid argument. See system logs and 'systemctl status mysqld.service' for details. systemctl status mysqld.service this said that it had an invalid argument then i changed the content of mysqld.service with this File: /etc/systemd/system/mysqld.service [Unit] Description=MySQL database server After=syslog.target After=network.target [Service] User=mysql Group=mysql ExecStart=/usr/sbin/mysqld --pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid ExecStop=/bin/kill -15 $MAINPID PIDFile=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid # We rely on systemd, not mysqld_safe, to restart mysqld if it dies Restart=always # Place temp files in a secure directory, not /tmp PrivateTmp=true [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target now i found that the error for invalid argument was resolved and mysqld.service was loaded but not enabled ... using systemctl start mysqld.service worked fine ... it workedddd! but then enabling it systemctl enable mysqld.service or service mysqld start did not do anything but the curdor kept on blinking after i pressed enter ... now the thing is that for this f16 i wasted my HDD space for development work and i cannot figure out a way ... please somebody help

• How to Set up MySQL Server to utilize more memory

  Hi there, I have MySQL setup on Windows along with Plesk. The version is 5.0.45 Community. The databases I have on the server are MyISAM as well as InnoDb, but predominantly innodb. I had 8G memory on my server, but MySQL isn't going up more than 1.3G and tweaking the settings isn't helping. I tried to increase the memory allocation for innodb_buffer_pool_size, it works if I set it up to 1G, but if I set 2G, or above the server doesn't come back online! I want mySQL to use at least 5-6 Gigs of the memory I have for performance, but I can't get this to work. Can anyone please help? My mysql config file is below (there are 2 mysqld sections... when i used MySQL workbench it created another one!) • After adding skip-innodb mysql doesn't start

  I am trying to setup these values: #skip-bdb #skip-locking #skip-innodb When I add them to /etc/mysql/my.cnf and even if I turn ON of of, them after I do the service restart mysql fails to start, and no error message printed. sudo service mysql restart [ ok ] Stopping MySQL database server: mysqld. [FAIL] Starting MySQL database server: mysqld . . . . . . . . . . . . . . failed! Previously I made sure that I have no InnoDB tables, and all files of that type were removed. I tried looking for error files but I couldn't locate it: /var/log/mysql.err is a 0 byte file /var/log/mysql folder has no files rsyslog was changed in past with inetutils-syslogd, and this might have changed the log files, and it could be the reason why I don't see any error logs, and I am stuck how to look or go forward.

  So I am getting the same issue as mentioned here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1366746/gem-install-mysql-failure-in-snow-leopard But I haven't been able to get it fixed using the answers on this link. Here's a brief history - I had MAMP on my machine, but now I downloaded the latest MySQL from mysql.com and installed version 5.1.46 this new version runs fine and client "mysql" is able to connect and I also have XCode v3.2.1, since someone mentioned that it can cause issues. Here's the error - **Building native extensions. This could take a while... • can't start MySql in Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

  I've googled this and could'nt find anything new and useful for Apple's new OS SnowLeopard. I wonder if this is my mistake or I do need to do something? this is what I did: Downloaded from mysql site: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html#macosx-dmg I choose : Mac OS X 10.5 (x86_64) I run all the packages and installed all of them. So now I certainly have mysql in /usr/local/mysql/ But when trying to start it from preferences panel, it is always STOPPED. When I try to do (in the terminal): /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql I got : -bash: /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql: Bad CPU type in executable What is wrong here? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

  I am having some serious problems, however this seems to be a common thing. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and here are my other version info: MySQL mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.46, for apple-darwin10.2.0 (i386) using readline 5.1 gem 1.3.6 ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-08 patchlevel 173) [universal-darwin10.0] My problem is that no matter what I do to try and install the mysql gem, i still get the error every time i do rake db:migrate uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes I have installed the mysql gem based on instructions around the web that say to use export ARCHFLAGS="-arch i386 -arch x86_64" ; sudo gem install --no-rdoc --no-ri mysql -- -v 2.7 --with-mysql-dir=/usr/local --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config This DOES work, as it gives this output: Building native extensions. What I am trying to do is, obtain the ID of a video from YouTube, and input the 11 character ID into the css of a div of a specific id by using jquery. • Nhibernate Fluent domain Object with Id(x => x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned not saveable

  Hi there, I am using for some legacy db the corresponding domainclasses with mappings. Now the Ids of the entities are calculated by some stored Procedure in the DB which gives back the Id for the new row.(Its legacy, I cant change this) Now I create the new entity , set the Id and Call Save. But nothing happens. no exeption. Even NH Profiler does not say a bit. its as the Save call does nothing. I expect that NH thinks that the record is already in the db because its got an Id already. But I am using Id(x = x.id).GeneratedBy.Assigned() and intetionally the Session.Save(object) method. I am confused. • Is it safe to delete rotated MySQL binary logs?

  I have a MySQL server with binary logging active. Once a days logs file is "rotated", i.e. MySQL seems to stop writing to it and creates and new log file. For example, I currently have these files in /var/lib/mysql -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 10485760 Jun 7 09:26 ibdata1 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 5242880 Jun 7 09:26 ib_logfile0 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 5242880 Jun 2 15:20 ib_logfile1 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 1916844 Jun 6 09:20 mybinlog.000004 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 61112500 Jun 7 09:26 mybinlog.000005 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 15609789 Jun 7 13:57 mybinlog.000006 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 54 Jun 7 09:26 mybinlog.index and mybinlog.000006 is growing. Can I simply take mybinlog.000004 and mybinlog.000005, zip them up and transfer to another server, or I need to do something else before? What info is stored in mybinlog.index? Only the info about the latest binary log? UPDATE: I understand I can delete the logs with PURGE BINARY LOGS which updates mybinlog.index file. However, I need to transfer logs to another computer before deleting them (I test if backup is valid on another machine). To reduce the transfer size, I wish to bzip2 the files. What will PURGE BINARY LOGS do if log files are not "there" anymore?

• Optimize MySQL query (ngrams, COUNT(), GROUP BY, ORDER BY)

  I have a database with thousands of companies and their locations. I have implemented n-grams to optimize search. I am making one query to retrieve all the companies that match with the search query and another one to get a list with their locations and the number of companies in each location. The query I am trying to optimize is the latter. Maybe the problem is this: Every company ('anunciante') has a field ('estado') to make logical deletes. So, if 'estado' equals 1, the company should be retrieved. When I run the EXPLAIN command, it shows that it goes through almost 40k rows, when the actual result (the reality matching companies) are 80. How can I optimize this? • Site crawler/spider that tosses results into mysql

  It's been suggested that we use mysql for our site's search as it'd be running on the same server that hosts our web server (nginx) and our db (mysql). Since not all of our pages are created from the database, it's been suggested that we have a crawler that can crawl the site, and toss the page url and data into mysql and have sphinx index on that. Does anyone know of an open source spider that has a mysql storing option out of the box. Thanks.

• Disable MySQL startup in Ubuntu 10.04

  Hi all, I want to prevent MySQL from starting in Ubuntu 10.04 I have used update-rc.d -f mysql remove and confirmed that there is no link to the /etc/inid.d/mysql script from any of the rc?.d directories. I also ran sysv-rc-conf and it shows me that MySQL is being called as part of the rc.d scripts. It is still starting on boot. How do I disable it? Regards, Bryan

• mysql linux persmission to apache owned folders

  I want to be able to load files to the database using SQL (mysql) from a web directory (apache httpdocs directory) on a centos machine that runs apache, mysql and plesk. I understand I need to give the mysql database user FILE permissions on . but how can I give the mysql server (probably mysqld) access to the httpdocs folder and the files inside (httpdocs is owned by one user and everything inside is owned by apache).
