  • Changing SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record for Google Apps

    My boss asked me to set up Google Apps for a client and basically I have done everything including setting up MX records in DirectAdmin and re-creating the email accounts in Google Apps. I also sent a few test emails to ensure that it actually works and it seems fine. But then I discovered this article talking about changing the SPF record for the domain. http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=178723 After reading the introduction I think it would be better for me to change the SPF record according to this article. So I logged in to the DirectAdmin and navigated to the DNS management, and then I found that there's already a TXT SPF record there: v=spf1 a mx a:spf.cabin.com.hk include:gmail.com -all And it looks like it's already including gmail.com, but according to the article it should be: _spf.google.com rather than: gmail.com I dare not to change it before I understand what this record actually means. What would you do with this record if you were me?

    OS:WinXP Say I got some files in Chinese and some files in Korean. And in windows 'Region and Language Options', I set language for non-unicode program = Chinese. Is there any way that I can read some Korean text file in text editor easily without using Microsoft Word? I need an environment that can support multiple unicode easily, I need to read Chinese, Japanese, Korean in text editor (Ultraeditor, notepad++) and terminal clients like SecureCRT.   • Fast (non-blocking) way to transfer many files to another server

    I am currently attempting to transfer over 1 million files from one server to another. Using wget, it seems to be extremely slow, probably because it starts a new transfer after the previous one has been completed. Question: Is there a faster non-blocking (asynchronous) way to do the transfer? I do not have enough space on the first server to compress the files into tar.gz and transferring them over. Thanks!

  • Sudden problems with iptables not running

    I've got a sudden issue with iptables not running on my CentOS 5.8/DirectAdmin XenVPS. All I have done today is install PHP APC and run an update (although I admittedly didn't pay much attention today - I usually do). Iptables has been running fairly smoothly since I installed it over 6 months ago. Basically when I try to run iptables -L it tells me: iptables v1.3.5: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. I've looked around and tried a few things and it appears that maybe my kernel doesn't have the modules loaded? I've been reading this and tried the two commands they suggest to no avail. Except there does appear to be a mismatch on one bit of output: -bash-3.2# cd /lib/modules -bash-3.2# ls 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5xen 2.6.18-238.5.1.el5xen 2.6.18-274.7.1.el5xen 2.6.39.1-cs-domU 2.6.18-238.12.1.el5xen 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5xen 2.6.37.2-cs-domU 3.0.1-cs-domU -bash-3.2# depmod -a WARNING: Couldn't open directory /lib/modules/2.6.18-274.18.1.el5xen: No such file or directory FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.18-274.18.1.el5xen/modules.dep.temp for writing: No such file or directory Does this mean the versions are out of sync?     Anyone know if it is possible to get a non-domain Server to pick-up it's updates from a domain included WSUS server? Just thinking about Hyper-V host Servers, in a single server environment clearly this cannot be part of the domain because at the time the VM Host boots the Domain Controllers is not available. However is there any way to make this Hyper-V Host collect it's updates from the WSUS server.

    I have setup postfix to send outgoing mail, It works fine for most of the cases except for some e.g duke.alumni.edu where it gives me a 450 error, even though the email address is valid. This is the exact error I get Sender address rejected: Domain not found (in reply to RCPT TO command)) Any suggestions on how I can rectify this?

  • Two SSL certs for a domain in DirectAdmin

    If I were to get 2 SSL certificates, one for example.com and one for www.example.com, is there a way to install them both on the site example.com in DirectAdmin? The default interface only allows installing one for both versions. If not, can I separate the 2 domains into 2 sites? One of them would only be a redirection, so there wouldn't be any duplication of site files. (Please don't answer with "one certificate should work for both". It doesn't always. This is a DirectAdmin question)

    There's a bucket into which some users may write their data for backup purposes. They use s3cmd to put new files into their bucket. I'd like to enforce a non-destruction policy on these buckets - meaning, it should be impossible for users to destroy data, they should only be able to add data. How can I create a bucket policy that only lets a certain user put a file if it doesn't already exist, and doesn't let him do anything else with the bucket.

  • Fresh install CentOS 6.4 64b with directadmin slowly consumes all memory and crashes

    Dear server fault community, This is my first question on server fault, i'm new to server (mis)configuration so please forgive me for asking something stupid :) I'm running Directadmin on a CentOS 6.4 64b with 4GB memory and over 10000Gh virtual machine. I migrated my websites because my former vps couldn't keep up anymore. Only half of the websites from this 1GB machine were migrated jet. So the migration is still in progress and already my server crashes every day. The server performance up until that moment is perfect. The directadmin log files show nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday only the mysql server crashed but it also crashed the entire machine before. The memory usage in DA seems to be normal: directadmin directadmin (pid 3923 22158 22159 22160 22161 22162 )8.75 MB dovecot dovecot (pid 3851 ) 47.8 MB exim exim (pid 1350 ) 1.29 MB httpd (pid 21525 21528 21529 21530 21531 21532 21546 21571 21742 21743 21744 )490.4 MB mysqld mysqld (pid 1299 ) 287.8 MB named named (pid 3807 ) 16.3 MB proftpd proftpd (pid 1481 ) 1.91 MB sshd sshd (pid 1173 21494 ) 5.16 MB Restarting services immediately frees up memory, but slowly over time the memory usage increases(about 24 hours to crash). The commands: # sync # echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches Will free al memory correct. I could just create a cronjob but it seems the wrong way around to me. I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. Any advices, references or tips are highly appreciated!   • DirectAdmin Centos4 server has virus

    Hello all, I have a problem with a webserver that runs Centos4 with DirectAdmin. Since a few weeks some websites hosted on it are not redirecting on search engines properly, they are redirected to some malware site, resulting in a ban from google. Now I have used 3 virusscanners: ClamAV: Didn't find anything Bitdefender: Found a 2-3 files with JS infection, deleted them AVG: Finds lots of files, but doesn't have the option to clean! The virus that it finds is: JS/Redir JS/Dropper Still the strange thing is: website a (www.aa.com) does not have any infected files (have gone through all the files manually, is a custom PHP app, nothing special) but does still have the same virus. Website b (www.bb.com) does have the infected files as only one. I deleted all these files and suspended the account, but no luck, still the same error. I do get the log entries on the website from the searchengines so the DNS entries are not changed. But now I have gone through the httpd files but cannot find anything. Where can I start looking for this?

  • A proper way to create non-interactive accounts?

    In order to use password-protected file sharing in a basic home network I want to create a number of non-interactive user accounts on a Windows 8 Pro machine in addition to the existing set of interactive accounts. The users that corresponds to those extra accounts will not use this machine interactively, so I don't want their accounts to be available for logon and I don't want their names to appear on welcome screen. In older versions of Windows Pro (up to Windows 7) I did this by first creating the accounts as members of "Users" group, and then including them into "Deny logon locally" list in Local Security Policy settings. This always had the desired effect. However, my question is whether this is the right/best way to do it. The reason I'm asking is that even though this method works in Windows 8 Pro as well, it has one little quirk: interactive users from "User" group are still able to see these extra user names when they go to the Metro screen and hit their own user name in the top-right corner (i.e. open "Sign out/Lock" menu). The command list that drops out contains "Sign out" and "Lock" commands as well as the names of other users (for "switch user" functionality). For some reason that list includes the extra users from "Deny logon locally" list. It is interesting to note that this happens when the current user belongs to "Users" group, but it does not happen when the current user is from "Administrators". For example, let's say I have three accounts on the machine: "Administrator" (from "Administrators", can logon locally), "A" (from "Users", can logon locally), "B" (from "Users", denied logon locally). When "Administrator" is logged in, he can only see user "A" listed in his Metro "Sign out/Lock" menu, i.e. all works as it should. But when user "A" is logged in, he can see both "Administrator" and user "B" in his "Sign out/Lock" menu. Expectedly, in the above example trying to switch from user "A" to user "B" by hitting "B" in the menu does not work: Windows jumps to welcome screen that lists only "Administrator" and "A". Anyway, on the surface this appears to be an interface-level bug in Windows 8. However, I'm wondering if going through "Deny logon locally" setting is the right way to do it in Windows 8. Is there any other way to create a hidden non-interactive user account?

  • Access console of QNX server

    I am new to QNX (although I am familiar with Unix/Linux). This company I am working with has an old QNX (4.25) server in a server room that they remotely access via Windows terminals (Kermit via Telnet) which presents them with a text-based program. I need to get into/onto the actual box to be able to view directories, files, etc... and wondering if I can do that "remotely", along the lines of how I would SSH into a Unix box. Is there something like that in QNX? Do I need to actually hook up a keyboard/monitor to this server to be presented with a console? Would I even get a console?
