• Android: Find coordinates of a certain point X meters from my location moving towards the point I am

  Hi Guys, I'm constructing a geolocation based application and I'm trying to figure out a way to make my application realise when a user is facing the direction of the given location (a particular long / lat co-ord). I've done some Googling and checked the SDK but can't really find anything for such a thing. Does anyone know of a way? Example. Point A = Phones current location. Point B = A's orientation in relation to true north + 45 + max distance towards the direction your facing, Point C = A's orientation in relation to true north - 45 + max distance towards the direction your facing. So now you have a triangle constructed. pretty schweet huh? yeah.. I think so.. So now that I have my fancy Triangle I use something called Barycentric Coordinates ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barycentric_coordinates_(mathematics) ). This will allow me to test another point and see if it is in the triangle. If it is, it means we're facing it AND it's within the right distance. So it should be displayed on screen. If I'm facing 90 degrees from true north. The distance it travels should be that direction. 90 degrees from true north. It should not be 100 degrees or something from true north! But the problem is I haven't yet figured out how I make the device realise it must go "out" the direction it is facing.

• How to convert Vector Layer coordinates into Map Latitude and Longitude in Openlayers.

  I'm pretty confused. I have a point: x= -12669114.702301 y= 5561132.6760608 That I got from drawing a square on a vector layer with the DrawFeature controller. The numbers seem...erm...awfull large, but they seem to work, because if I later draw a square with all the same points, it's in the same position, so I figure they have to be right. The problem is when I try to convert this point to latitude and longitude. I'm using: map.getLonLatFromPixel(pointToPixel(points[0])); Where points[0] is a geometry Point, and the pointToPixel function takes any point and turns it into a pixel (since the getLonLatFromPixel needs a pixel). It does this by simply taking the point's x, and making it the pixels x, and so on. The latitude and longitude I get is on the order of: lat: -54402718463.864 lng: -18771380.353223 This is very clearly wrong. I'm left really confused. I try projecting this object, using: .transform(new OpenLayers.Projection("EPSG:4326"), map.getProjectionObject()); But I don't really get it and am pretty sure I did it incorrectly, anyways. The coordinates seem consistent, because I can reuse them to get the same result...but they seem way larger than any of the examples I'm seeing on the openLayers website...

  Hi, I'm having a problem with an HQL query Three classes ClassOne is my BusinessObject public class ClassOne { private int id; private int status; private Set<ClassTwo> classTwos; + other fields/getters/setters/constructor etc } ClassTwo is referenced in a set of ClassOne and is kind of the history of an object of ClassOne public class ClassTwo { private int id; private int oldStatus; private int newStatus; private String message; //+ getters/setters/constructor etc } ClassThree is my DTO/VO with just one classTwo (not the whole history) public class ClassThree { private int id; private int status; private ClassTwo classTwo; public ClassThree(int pId, int pStatus, ClassTwo pClassTwo) { id=pId; status=pStatus; classTwo=pClassTwo; } //+ getters/setters etc } Now I'd like to create an HQL query like this: I'd like to get all objects of ClassThree with a certain status and if it exists the newest ClassTwo with a certain newStatus. For example: I'd like to get all the DTOs (ClassThree) of ClassOne whose status is now 1, but earlier in their history it has been 2 and I'd like to have the latest ClassTwo object which has 2 as newStatus. SELECT new ClassThree(c1.id, c1.status, c2) FROM ClassOne c1 LEFT JOIN c1.classtwos c2 (...) and (...) is where I don't know what to do, I'm not even sure if it's a join / join fetch Looked around and tried quite a lot already, but no clue. Especially with the join fetch I get some Hibernate errors like org.hibernate.QueryException: query specified join fetching, but the owner of the fetched association was not present in the select list. Fetching the BusinessObject like that is no problem SELECT distinct(c1) FROM ClassOne c1 LEFT OUTER JOIN FETCH c1.classtwos c2 and I get the ClassTwos as my field. • GET is not working for firstResource Rest example

  Hi, I am newbie to rest. I am using the following code example to understand the RESTlet. http://www.restlet.org/documentation/1.1/firstResource I am using RESTClient addon to firefox for testing. When i do GET on http://localhost/rest, i get a response "ok". But when i do GET on http://localhost/items, I get an error "404 Not found" Here's the sample code: public synchronized Restlet createRoot() { Router router = new Router(getContext()); router.attach("/items", ItemsResource.class); router.attach("/items/{itemName}", ItemResource.class); Restlet restlet = new Restlet() { @Override public void handle(Request request, Response response) { StringBuilder stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); stringBuilder.append("ok"); response.setEntity(new StringRepresentation(stringBuilder .toString(), MediaType.TEXT_HTML)); } }; router.attach("/rest", restlet); return router; } ItemResource is same as provided in the link. and I use tomcat to run the servlet. • Detecting well behaved / well known bots

  I found this question very interesting : Programmatic Bot Detection I have a very similar question, but I'm not bothered about 'badly behaved bots'. I am tracking (in addition to google analytics) the following per visit : Entry URL Referer UserAgent Adwords (by means of query string) Whether or not the user made a purchase etc. The problem is that to calculate any kind of conversion rate I'm ending up with lots of 'bot' visits that are greatly skewing my results. I'd like to ignore as many as possible bot visits, but I want a solution that I don't need to monitor too closely, and that won't in itself be a performance hog and preferably still work if someone has javascript disabled. Are there good published lists of the top 100 bots or so? I did find a list at http://www.user-agents.org/ but that appears to contain hundreds if not thousands of bots. I don't want to check every referer against thousands of links. Here is the current googlebot UserAgent. How often does it change? Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Should I add a separate column to my dataset to record whether the data points are within the confidence bands? Can you provide an example please? • How to deal with unknown entity references?

  I'm parsing (a lot of) XML files that contain entity references which i dont know in advance (can't change that fact). For example: xml = "<tag>I'm content with &funny; &entity; &references;.</tag>" when i try to parse this using the following code: final DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); final DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); final InputSource is = new InputSource(new StringReader(xml)); final Document d = db.parse(is); i get the following exception: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The entity "funny" was referenced, but not declared. but, what i do want to achieve is, that the parser replaces every entity that is not declared (unknown to the parser) with an empty String ''. • Arrays not counting correctly

  I know I was just asking a question earlier facepalm This is in Java coding by the way. Well after everyones VERY VERY helpful advice (thank you guys alot) I managed to get over half of the program running how I wanted. Everything is pointing in the arrays where I want them to go. Now I just need to access the arrays so that It prints the correct information randomly. But I get the screen completely black and I don't know why.   Hi folks, quite recently I read about javascript call usage in MDC https://developer.mozilla.org/en/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Function/call one linke of the example shown below, I still don't understand. Why are they using inheritance here like this Prod_dept.prototype = new Product(); is this necessary? Because there is a call to the super-constructor in Prod_dept() anyway, like this Product.call is this just out of common behaviour?   It looks like a silly problem, but I can´t find a way to filter null values from my rows. • Regularly update database without browser/user

  I currently have a MySQL database which I was hoping to use to store regularly updated data from a temperature sensor connected to the internet. I currently have a page that, when opened, will grab the current temperature and the current timestamp and add it as an entry to the database, but I was looking for a way to do that without me refreshing the page every 5 seconds. Detail: The data comes from an Arduino Ethernet, posted to an IP address. Currently, I'm using cURL to grab the data from the IP, add a timestamp and save it to the DB. Obviously only updates when the page is refreshed (it uses PHP). Here is a live feed of the data - http://wetdreams.org.uk/ChrisProject/UI/live_graph_two.html TL;DR - Basically I need a middle man to grab the data from the IP and post it to a MySQL Edit: Thanks for all the advice. There might be a little bit of confusion, I'm looking for a solution that (ideally) doesn't require a computer to be on at all (other than the Server containing Database). Since I'm looking to store data over long periods of time (weeks), I'd like to set it up and leave a script running on the server (or Arduino) that gets the temp and posts it to the Database. In my head I would like to have a page on the server that automatically (without any browser open, or any other prompting other than a timer) calls a PHP script. Hope that clears things up!

  In my search for a haskell library that can process large (300-1000mb) xml files i came across hexpat. There is an example in the Haskell Wiki that claims to -- Process document before handling error, so we get lazy processing. For testing purposes i have redirected the output to /dev/null and throw a 300mb file at it. Memory consumption kept rising until i had to kill the process. Now i removed the error handling from the process function: process :: String -> IO () process filename = do inputText <- L.readFile filename let (xml, mErr) = parse defaultParseOptions inputText :: (UNode String, Maybe XMLParseError) hFile <- openFile "/dev/null" WriteMode L.hPutStr hFile $ format xml hClose hFile return () As a result the function now uses constant memory. Why does the error handling result in massive memory consumption? As far as i understand xml and mErr are two seperate unevaluated thunks after the call to parse. Does format xml evaluate xml and build the evaluation tree of 'mErr'? If yes is there a way to handle the error while using constant memory? http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Hexpat/

• JSP displaying source code instead of executing

  I'm new to jsp and have ran into some trouble. Initially, the jsp file and associated java classes were built and tested fine on a test Tomcat server. Now, they've been transitioned to another server of what I believe is the same setup (except it's linux now instead of windows). But when the jsp page is accessed the source code is displayed instead of the jsp actually executing. I've googled for a while but received no success. Any ideas?

• Hibernate saveOrUpdate fails when I execute it on empty table.

  I'm try to insert or update db record with following code: Category category = new Category(); category.setName('catName'); category.setId(1L); categoryDao.saveOrUpdate(category); When there is a category with id=1 already in database everything works. But if there is no record with id=1 I got following exception: org.hibernate.StaleStateException: Batch update returned unexpected row count from update [0]; actual row count: 0; expected: 1: Here is my Category class setters, getters and constructors ommited for clarity: @Entity public class Category { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; @ManyToOne private Category parent; @OneToMany(fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "parent") private List<Category> categories = new ArrayList<Category>(); } In the console I see this hibernate query: update Category set name=?, parent_id=? where id=? So looks like hibernates tryis to update record instead of inserting new. What am I doing wrong here?

  I am running a hadoop code that has a partitioner class inside the job. But, when I run the command hadoop jar Sort.jar SecondarySort inputdir outputdir I am getting a runtime error that says class KeyPartitioner not org.apache.hadoop.mapred.Partitioner. I have ensured that the KeyPartitioner class has extended the Partitioner class, but why am I getting this error?   I need to create a schema for an XML file that is pretty flexible. It has to meet the following requirements: Validate some elements that we require to be present, and know the exact structure of Validate some elements that are optional, and we know the exact structure of Allow any other elements Allow them in any order Quick example: XML <person> <age></age> <lastname></lastname> <height></height> </person> My attempt at an XSD: <xs:schema attributeFormDefault="unqualified" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <xs:element name="person"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="firstname" minOccurs="0" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="lastname" type="xs:string"/> <xs:any processContents="lax" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> Now my XSD satisfies requirements 1 and 3. It is not a valid schema however, if both firstname and lastname were optional, so it doesn't satisfy requirement 2, and the order is fixed, which fails requirement 4. Now all I need is something to validate my XML. I'm open to suggestions on any way of doing this, either programmatically in .NET 3.5, another type of schema etc. Can anyone think of a solution to satisfy all 4 requirements?
