  • How can I display a manual efficiently in Sharepoint

    My organisiation uses Sharepoint for its 'intranet'. I have been given the task of creating a site for my department. One of the things I need on there is a procedure guide, which is basically a 150 page document, whereby each page is a separate procedure. Is there an efficient way within sharepoint that these procedures can be stored and searchable somehow, rather than dumping a 150 page document on there?

  • Cruise control merging problem

    Hi all, I am using cruise control which generated a particular output which is in text file format.So with the help of nant i am copying this file to another .xml of the same name in some other folder structure and i am using the file merge task which merges this output with my log files.I am also able to see this output merged in my webdashboard.Now i want this same output i.e .xml to be attached in may mail too.So is there anyway i can get this done??At present i dont get anything attached in my mail i.e no errors or warnings attached.   • Automatic music rating based on listening habits

    I've created a Winamp-like music player in Delphi. Not so complex, of course. Just a simple one. But now I would like to add a more complex feature: Songs in the library should be automatically rated based on the user's listening habits. This means: The application should "understand" if the user likes a song or not. And not only whether he/she likes it but also how much. My approach so far (data which could be used): Simply measure how often a song was played per time. Start counting time when the song was added to the library so that recent songs don't have any disadvantage. Measure how long a song was played on average (minutes). Starting a song but directly change to another one should have a bad influence on the ranking since the user didn't seem to like the song. ... Could you please help me with this problem? I would just like to have some ideas. I don't need the implementation in Delphi.

  • Working around "one executable per project" in Visual C# for many small test programs

    When working with Visual Studio in general (or Visual C# Express in my particular case), it looks like each project can be configured to produce only one output - e.g. a single executable or a library. I'm working on a project that consists of a shared library and a few application, and I already have one project in my solution for each of those. However, during development I find it useful to write small example programs that can run one small subsystem in isolation (at a level that doesn't belong in the unit tests). Is there a good way to handle this in Visual Studio? I'd like to avoid adding several dozen separate projects to my solution for each small test program I write, especially when these programs will typically be less than 100 lines of code. I'm hoping to find something that lets me continue to work in Visual Studio and use its build system (rather than moving to something like NAnt). I could foresee the answer being something like: A way of setting this up in Visual Studio that I haven't found yet A GUI like NUnit's graphical runner that searches an assembly for classes with defined Main() functions that you can select and run A command line tool that lets you specify an assembly and a class with a Main function to run

    Hi, i am currently in dire need of news articles to test a LSI implementation (it's in a foreign language, so there isnt the usual packs of files ready to use). So i need a crawler that given a starting url, let's say http://news.bbc.co.uk/ follows all the contained links and saves their content into .txt files, if we could specify the format to be UTF8 i would be in heaven.   • When is someone else's code I use from the internet "mine"?

    I'm building a library from methods that I've found on the internet. Some are free to use or modify with no requirements, others say that if I leave a comment in the code it's okay to use, others say when I use the code I have to attribute the use of someone's code in my application (in the credits for my app I guess). What I've been doing is reorganizing classes, renaming methods, adding descriptions (code comments), renaming the parameters and names inside the methods to something meaningful, optimizing loops if applicable, changing return types, adding try/catch/throw blocks, adding parameter checks and cleaning up resources in the methods. For example; I didn't come up with the algorithm for blurring a Bitmap but I've taken the basic example of iterating through the pixels and turned it into a decent library method (applying the aforementioned modifications). I understand how to go about building it now myself but I didn't actually hit the keystrokes to make it and I couldn't have come up with it before learning from their example. What about code people get in answers on Stackoverflow or examples from Codeproject? At what point can I drop their requirements because at n% their code became mine? FWIW I intend on using the libraries to create products that I will sell.

  • Detect aborted connection during ASIO request

    Is there an established way to determine whether the other end of a TCP connection is closed in the asio framework without sending any data? Using Boost.asio for a server process, if the client times out or otherwise disconnects before the server has responded to a request, the server doesn't find this out until it has finished the request and generated a response to send, when the send immediately generates a connection-aborted error. For some long-running requests, this can lead to clients canceling and retrying over and over, piling up many instances of the same request running in parallel, making them take even longer and "snowballing" into an avalanche that makes the server unusable. Essentially hitting F5 over and over is a denial-of-service attack. Unfortunately I can't start sending a response until the request is complete, so "streaming" the result out is not an option, I need to be able to check at key points during the request processing and stop that processing if the client has given up.

    Hi, I work in team which uses Work flow management tool. I was presented with a challenge where the user should be able to roll back the changes made anytime during the flow to a certain point in the past. Surely the toll can handle it but the additional database calls that may have made during these activities have to be manually rolled back. the challenge is that there are multiple parallel paths and there different permutations of external database calls. So is there a frame work or a way to keep track of these DB calls and rollback them?. thank you, Justin

Therefore I remove #8 and try to clarify #1: With "Pseudocode for the skeleton", I basically mean could this be done entirely using JavaScript timers and how would you set up the various timers? Library for Google Analytics: Which libraries support the Google Analytics API and can produce neat charts. Preferably HTML5, JavaScript-based like Protovis. Library for Twitter: Which libraries would you recommend for fetching twitter search results and latest tweets from profiles. Libraries for Typography/CSS/HTML5: Trying to learn some HTML5 etc. in the process, please advice on any other typography/css libraries that could be of relevance. Scraping/Parsing? I'll give you a concrete example: Trying to fetch today's menu from this restaurant's website, how would you go about? (it's in Swedish - but you get the point - sorry ;) ) Real-time stats? I'm using the WassUp-plugin for WordPress to track real-time visitors on our website. Other logging software (AWStats etc.) is probably also installed on the webserver.   • Using device variable by multiple threads on CUDA

    I am playing around with cuda. At the moment I have a problem. I am testing a large array for particular responses, and when I get the response, I have to copy the data onto another array. For example, my test array of 5 elements looks like this: [ ][ ][v1][ ][ ][v2] Result must look like this: [v1][v2] The problem is how do I calculate the address of the second array to store the result? All elements of the first array are checked in parallel. I am thinking to declare a device variable int addr = 0. Every time I find a response, I will increment the addr. But I am not sure about that because it means that addr may be accessed by multiple threads at the same time. Will that cause problems? Or will the thread wait until another thread finishes using that variable?

  • Increase width of divs, displayed side by side, using draggable events

    I have two divs of fixed length as of now, which loads external URL by dynamically embedding iframes inside them. Divs are appearing next to each other - one on left and other right. As of now, I have fixed their width to 50% each. But, I want to give user a flexibility to increase the width of any div to view the URL inside easily without scrolling horizontally. Something like dragging the border separating the two divs to either left or right according to his need. Is there a way I could achieve this? Please suggest any library or something. I have gone through a library twentytwenty which is used for images. I don't know how will that work for dynamic iframes.   • How do I merge multiple PDB files ?

    We are currently using a single command line tool to build our product on both Windows and Linux. Si far its works nicely, allowing us to build out of source and with finer dependencies than what any of our previous build system allowed. This buys us great incremental and parallel build capabilities. To describe shortly the build process, we get the usual: .cpp -- cl.exe --> .obj and .pdb multiple .obj and .pdb -- cl.exe --> single .dll .lib .pdb multiple .obj and .pdb -- cl.exe --> single .exe .pdb The msvc C/C++ compiler supports it adequately. Recently the need to build a few static libraries emerged. From what we gathered, the process to build a static library is: multiple .cpp -- cl.exe --> multiple .obj and a single .pdb multiple .obj -- lib.exe --> a single .lib The single .pdb means that cl.exe should only be executed once for all the .cpp sources. This single execution means that we can't parallelize the build for this static library. This is really unfortunate. We investigated a bit further and according to the documentation (and the available command line options): cl.exe does not know how to build static libraries lib.exe does not know how to build .pdb files Does anybody know a way to merge multiple PDB files ? Are we doomed to have slow builds for static libraries ? How do tools like Incredibuild work around this issue ?

  • how do I get eclipse to use a different compiler version for Java?

    It seems like this should be a simple task, with the options in the Preferences menu for different JREs and the ability to set different compiler and build paths per project. However, it also seems to simply not work. For example, I have my JAVA_HOME set to a jre for Java 1.6. It's still not clear to me how Eclipse uses this, but it appears to be defaulting to this and not taking the project overrides. I have also installed Java 1.5, and added a JRE for this in eclipse in the Java-Installed JREs section. In my project, I've set the compiler compliance level to 1.5. In the build path for the project, I've added the System Library for the Java 1.5 JRE. However, I'm getting compile errors for a class that implements PreparedStatement for not implementing abstract methods that only exist in Java 1.6 PreparedStatement. Specifically, the methods setAsciiStream(int, InputStream, long) and setAsciiStream(int, InputStream) Strangely enough, it worked when we were compiling it against Java 1.4, which it was originally written for. We added the JREs for Java 1.4 and referenced that system library in the project, and set the project's compiler level to 1.4, and it works fine. But when I do the same changes to try to point to Java 1.5, it instead uses 1.6. Any ideas why?

  • Can I use a single DateTime field on the Entity Framework model side when the value is stored in a set of Int fields in the actual database?

    The actual table in the database has separate integer fields for storing year, month, day, hour and minute values (all in UTC) (seconds and milliseconds are irrelevant for my task and considered equal to zero). Needless to say it would be of great convenience to have just one field of DateTime type on the application side and hide all the conversion under the cover of the Entity Framework model code. Any directions on how to do that? I am not very experienced with Entity Framework yet.

  • How could I get an .ear's filesize at runtime?

    I started out attempting to do this with the Length ant task, but realized that that would be done before the ear is packaged. Packaging the ear, then checking the file size, and then placing it in the ear would effect the size of the ear. Is there a way to get the ear's size programmatically at run-time? Or perhaps an MBean that would have that information?
