Cannot redeclare class but there are no other classes with that name

Hello ! I am working right now with Zend Framework and I've created a Model_User_Row in app\models\User\Row.php. Hibernate: getting a record but it's being updated in the database?

For some reason Hibernate seems to be keeping my session open and updating the object without me explicitely invoking a save/update/saveorupdate. I guess the session is staying open and it's beeing marked as dirty. However this is not the desired behaviour, so what's the cleanest way to fix this? The issue seems to occur because I store a phone number without formatting in the database but the getter of the object returns a formatted telephone number. My flow: go to a jsp = controller = service = dao DAO getter function if(userId != 0) { return (User)dbFactory.get(User.class, userId); } return null; The service just passes it to the controller and the controller puts te User object in the request scope. I display it on my JSP page using EL.

NHibernate - define where condition

Hi. In my application the user can defines search-conditions. He can choose a column, set an operator (equals, like, greater than, less or equal than, etc.) and give in the value. After the user clicks on a button and the application should do a search on the database with the condition. I use NHibernate and ask me now, what is the efficientest way to do this with NHibernate. Should I create a query with it like (Column=Name, Operator=Like, Value=%John%) var a = session.CreateCriteria<Customer>(); a.Add(Restrictions.Like("Name", "%John%")); return a.List<Customer>(); Or should I do this with HQL: var q = session.CreateQuery("from Customer where " + where); return q.List<Customer >(); Or is there a more bether solution? C Class Instance from Void Pointer using Ctypes

I've got a C DLL that exposes a handful of methods that return void pointers to a Class like so: void *GetLicense() { static AppLicenseImpl ipds_; return (void *) &ipds_; } In C++, after loading the DLL, I'd do this to work with it: typedef void *(* FPGetLicense)(); GetLicense_ = (FPGetLicense)GetAddress("GetLicense"); license_ = (AppLicense *) GetLicense_(); license_->GetApplicationStatus(); // Load data so that other calls don't fail I can't figure out how to parallel that in Python. This gets me the pointer: d = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary('license.dll') d.GetLicense.restype = ctypes.c_void_p p = d.GetLicense() # returns ptr loc, something like 8791433660848L But I obviously can't call p.GetApplicationStatus() in Python. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I'd instantiate that Class the rest of the way in Python so that I can call GetApplicationStatus()?

Pop-Up Window at inital start up, of android application

I am trying to find a code that will do a popup at the initial start up on an installed app. Much like a changelog that is starting to appear in more and more apps. I have found some similar codes, but being a beginner I haven't been able to figure out where to exactly put the code in and I always have tons of errors that still do not work once I try and fix them. I am working in Eclipse with an android project, and I'm using a webview to show a website. What if a large number of objects are passed to my SwingWorker.process() method?

I just found an interesting situation. Suppose you have some SwingWorker (I've made this one vaguely reminiscent of my own): public class AddressTreeBuildingWorker extends SwingWorker<Void, NodePair> { private DefaultTreeModel model; public AddressTreeBuildingWorker(DefaultTreeModel model) { } @Override protected Void doInBackground() { // Omitted; performs variable processing to build a tree of address nodes. } @Override protected void process(List<NodePair> chunks) { for (NodePair pair : chunks) { // Actually the real thing inserts in order. model.insertNodeInto(parent, child, parent.getChildCount()); } } private static class NodePair { private final DefaultMutableTreeNode parent; private final DefaultMutableTreeNode child; private NodePair(DefaultMutableTreeNode parent, DefaultMutableTreeNode child) { this.parent = parent; this.child = child; } } } If the work done in the background is significant then things work well - process() is called with relatively small lists of objects and everything is happy. Problem is, if the work done in the background is suddenly insignificant for whatever reason, process() receives a huge list of objects (I have seen 1,000,000, for instance) and by the time you process each object, you have spent 20 seconds on the Event Dispatch Thread, exactly what SwingWorker was designed to avoid. In case it isn't clear, both of these occur on the same SwingWorker class for me - it depends on the input data, and the type of processing the caller wanted. Is there a proper way to handle this? Obviously I can intentionally delay or yield the background processing thread so that a smaller number might arrive each time, but this doesn't feel like the right solution to me.

Pure functional bottom up tree algorithm

Say I wanted to write an algorithm working on an immutable tree data structure that has a list of leaves as its input. It needs to return a new tree with changes made to the old tree going upwards from those leaves. My problem is that there seems to be no way to do this purely functional without reconstructing the entire tree checking at leaves if they are in the list, because you always need to return a complete new tree as the result of an operation and you can't mutate the existing tree. Is this a basic problem in functional programming that only can be avoided by using a better suited algorithm or am I missing something?

Treat a void function as a value

I'm writing some terrible, terrible code, and I need a way to put a free() in the middle of a statement. The actual code is: int main(){ return printf("%s", isPalindrome(fgets(malloc(1000), 1000, stdin))?"Yes!\n":"No!\n") >= 0; // leak 1000 bytes of memory } I was using alloca(), but I can't be sure that will actually work on my target computer. My problem is that free returns void, so my code has this error message: error: void value not ignored as it ought to be The obvious idea I had was: int myfree(char *p){ free(p); return 0; } Which is nice in that it makes the code even more unreadable, but I'd prefer not to add another function. I also briefly tried treating free() as a function pointer, but I don't know if that would work, and I don't know enough about C to do it properly. Note: I know this is a terrible idea. Don't try this at home kids.

Java - is this an idiom or pattern, behavior classes with no state

I am trying to incorporate more functional programming idioms into my java development. One pattern that I like the most and avoids side effects is building classes that have behavior but they don't necessarily have any state. The behavior is locked into the methods but they only act on the parameters passed in. The code below is code I am trying to avoid: public class BadObject { private Map<String, String> data = new HashMap<String, String>(); public BadObject() { data.put("data", "data"); } /** * Act on the data class. But this is bad because we can't * rely on the integrity of the object's state. */ public void execute() { data.get("data").toString(); } } The code below is nothing special but I am acting on the parameters and state is contained within that class. We still may run into issues with this class but that is an issue with the method and the state of the data, we can address issues in the routine as opposed to not trusting the entire object. Is this some form of idiom? Python 3.1 - Memory Error during sampling of a large list

The input list can be more than 1 million numbers. When I run the following code with smaller 'repeats', its fine; def sample(x): length = 1000000 new_array = random.sample((list(x)),length) return (new_array) def repeat_sample(x): i = 0 repeats = 100 list_of_samples = [] for i in range(repeats): list_of_samples.append(sample(x)) return(list_of_samples) repeat_sample(large_array) However, using high repeats such as the 100 above, results in MemoryError. Extension method question. Why do I need to use someObj = someObj.somemethod();

Hi All, I have a simple extension method that I would like to use to add an item to an array of items. public static T[] addElement<T>(this T[] array, T elementToAdd) { var list = new List<T>(array) {elementToAdd}; return list.ToArray(); } this works ok, but when I use it, I am having to set the array equal to the return value. I see that I am returning an Array. I likely want this method to be void, but I would like the item added. Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do , to make this work the way I am wanting? Instead of someArray = someArray.addElement(item), I just want to do someArray.addElement(item) and then someArray be ready to go. What am I missing here? Thanks, ~ck in San Diego

STL member variable initalization issue with windows API

I need execute a query like that: DECLARE @x AS xml SET @x=N'<r><c>First Text</c></r><r><c>Other Text</c></r>' SELECT @x.query('fn:max(r/c)') But return nothing (apparently because convert xdt:untypedAtomic to numeric) How to "cast" r/c to varchar? Something like SELECT @x.query('fn:max(«CAST(r/c «AS varchar(20))»)') Edit: Using Nodes the function MAX is from T-SQL no fn:max function In this code: DECLARE @x xml; SET @x = ''; SELECT @x.query('fn:max((1, 2))'); SELECT @x.query('fn:max(("First Text", "Other Text"))'); both query return expected: 2 and "Other Text" fn:max can evaluate string expression ad hoc. But the first query dont work. How to force string arguments to fn:max?
