• Ellipsize not working for textView inside custom listView

  Hi, I have a listView with custom objects defined by the xml-layout below. I want the textView with id "info" to be ellipsized on a single line, and I've tried using the attributes android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="end" without success. If I set the layout_width to a fixed width like e.g. android:layout_width="100px" the text is truncated fine. But for portability reasons this is not an acceptable solution. • Android layout with sqare buttons

  I want to make a layout similar to this one: Four square buttons on the screen - each of those using half of the screen with/screen height (whichever is smaler). • Iphone SQLite Databse with german umlauts results in NULL value

  Hi guys, I'm quite new to the Iphone development and after search for an answer for 3 hours now, I hope that you guys can give me a hand. My problem is that I have a SQLite Database with german umlauts. Looking at it with a SQLite browser tool shows me that the data is stored with german umlauts, correctly. But selecting fields with german umlauts in it results in a NULL value. I'm already using "stringWithUTF8String", so I don't get the point where the problem is placed. • jQuery UI - addClass removeClass - CSS values are stuck

  Hi, I'm trying to do a simple animation. You show the div. It animates correctly. You hide the div. Correct. You show the div again. It shows but there is no animation. It is stuck at the value of when you first interrupted it. So somehow the interpolation CSS that is happening during [add|remove]Class is getting stuck there. The second time around, the [add|remove]Class is actually running, but the css it's setting from the class is getting ignored (I think being overshadowed). How can I fix this WITHOUT resorting to .animate and hard-coded style values? The whole point was to put the animation end point in a css class. • Trouble getting NSString from NSDictionary key into UILabel

  I'm attempting to put the value associated with the key called "duration" into a UILabel but I'm getting a blank or "(null)" result showing up in the UILabel. My NSDictionary object with its keys seems to be logging as being full of the data and keys I think I want, as such: the content of thisRecordingsStats is { "12:48:25 AM, April 25" = { FILEPATH = "/Users/brian/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.1.3/Applications/97256A91-FC47-4353-AD01-15CD494060DD/Documents/12:48:25 AM, April 25.aif"; duration = "00:04"; applesCountString = 0; ...and so on. Here's the code where I'm trying to put the NSString into the UILabel: cell.durationLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"]]; I've also tried these other permutations: cell.durationLabel.text = [thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"]; and I've also tried this tag-based approach: label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:8]; label.text = [[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"] objectAtIndex:1]; and: UILabel *label; label = (UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:8]; label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",[[thisRecordingsStats objectForKey:@"duration"] objectAtIndex:1]]; I've also tried creating a string from the key's paired value and see a "(null)" value or blankness using that too. • Property being immediately reset by ApplicationSetting Property Binding

  I have a .net 2.0 windows application written in c#, which currently uses several project settings to store user configurations. The forms in the application are made up of lots of user controls, each of which have properties that need to be set to these project settings. Right now these settings are manually assigned to the user control properties. I was hoping to simplify the code by replacing the manual implementation with ApplicationSettings Property Bindings. However, my first property is not behaving properly at all. The setting is an integer, used to record a port number typed into a text box. The setting is bound to an integer property on a user control, and that property sets the Text property on a TextBox control. When I type a new value into the textbox at runtime, as soon as the textbox loses focus, it is immediately replaced by the original value. A breakpoint on the property shows that it is immediately setting the property to the setting from the properties collection after I set it. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?   Is it possible to use Blueprint CSS and maintain a a respectable level of separation between presentation and content? I like how easy the framework is to use when designing forms, but am worried that the manner in which I use the css classes for columnizing elements is a bad practice. • MVC Html.textbox/dropdown/whatever won't refresh on postback

  OK, let's start with the Html.Textbox. It is supposed to contain text read from a file. The file read is based on what the user picks from a dropdown list. The first time it is fine. The user picks a value from the dropdown list. The controller uses that value to read some text from a file, and returns that text to the view via the view model. Everything is fine. THen the user picks another value from the dropdown list. The controller reads a new value from a file and returns it via the view model. Debugging to the LINE BEFORE THE HTML.TEXTBOX is set in the view shows that the model contains the correct value. However, the textbox itself still shows the PREVIOUS value when the page displays! If I switch from Html.Textbox to a plain input, type="text" html control, everything works fine. That's not so hard, but the same thing happens with my dropdown list -- I can't set the selected value in code. It always reverts to whatever was chosen last. Rendering a "select" tag with a dynamically-generated option list is a pain. I would love to be able to use Html.Dropdown. What am I missing here?? This is such a simple thing in webforms!

  I've got 2 radio buttons with labels: button A is checked by default in HTML (checked="checked"). They're then processed with jQuery UI Radio Button. When I check button B and refresh the page, B's label is displayed as checked (it has CSS ui-state-active class). And A's label is displayed as unchecked, even though it's A button that is actually checked. It happens in Firefox (3) and IE (8). • Looking for a workaround for IE 6/7 "Unspecified Error" bug when accessing offsetParent; using ASP.N

  I'm using jQuery UI's draggable and droppable libraries in a simple ASP.NET proof of concept application. This page uses the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel to do partial page updates. The page allows a user to drop an item into a trashcan div, which will invoke a postback that deletes a record from the database, then rebinds the list (and other controls) that the item was drug from. All of these elements (the draggable items and the trashcan div) are inside an ASP.NET UpdatePanel. Here is the dragging and dropping initialization script: function initDragging() { $(".person").draggable({helper:'clone'}); $("#trashcan").droppable({ accept: '.person', tolerance: 'pointer', hoverClass: 'trashcan-hover', activeClass: 'trashcan-active', drop: onTrashCanned }); } $(document).ready(function(){ initDragging(); var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_endRequest(function() { initDragging(); }); }); function onTrashCanned(e,ui) { var id = $('input[id$=hidID]', ui.draggable).val(); if (id != undefined) { $('#hidTrashcanID').val(id); __doPostBack('btnTrashcan',''); } } When the page posts back, partially updating the UpdatePanel's content, I rebind the draggables and droppables. When I then grab a draggable with my cursor, I get an "htmlfile: Unspecified error." exception. I can resolve this problem in the jQuery library by replacing elem.offsetParent with calls to this function that I wrote: function IESafeOffsetParent(elem) { try { return elem.offsetParent; } catch(e) { return document.body; } } I also have to avoid calls to elem.getBoundingClientRect() as it throws the same error. For those interested, I only had to make these changes in the jQuery.fn.offset function in the Dimensions Plugin. My questions are: Although this works, are there better ways (cleaner; better performance; without having to modify the jQuery library) to solve this problem? If not, what's the best way to manage keeping my changes in sync when I update the jQuery libraries in the future? For, example can I extend the library somewhere other than just inline in the files that I download from the jQuery website. • jQuery 1.4 Dynamically created images aspect ratio incorrect in IE8 and max-width

  After upgrading to jQuery 1.4, when I try to add an image to a page dynamically using jQuery 1.4 in IE8, the image will lose the correct aspect ratio. This appears to affect only IE8 (IE7 and Firefox work fine) with jQuery 1.4 (1.3.2 works fine). • Extract known pattern substring from NSString (without regex)

  I'm really tempted to drop RegexKit (or my own libpcre wrapper) into my project in order to do this, but before I do that I want to know how Cocoa developers manage to do half of this basic stuff without really convoluted code or without linking with RegexKit or another regular expression library. I find it gobsmacking that Cocoa does not include any regular expression matching features. I've so accustomed to using regular expressions for all kinds of things that I'm lost without them. I can do what I need without them, but the code would be rather convoluted. So, Cocoa devs, I ask you, what's the "Cocoa way" to do this... The problem is an everyday problem in programming as far as I'm concerned. Cocoa must have ways of doing this with the built-in features. Note that the position of the elements I want to match changes, and sometimes "quotes" are present. Whitespace is variable. Take the following strings: Content-Type: application/xml; charset=utf-8 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Type: text/plain; name="example.txt"; charset=utf-8 From all of these strings, how would you go about determining the mime type (e.g. text/plain) and the charset (e.g. utf-8) using just the built-in Cocoa classes? I'd end up performing a series of -rangeOfString: and substring calls, with conditional checks to deal with the optional quotes etc. Is there a way to do this with NSScanner? The NSScanner class seems to have a pretty naive API to me. Something like C's sscanf() that works for NSString objects would be an ideal fit. Most of my string parsing needs are simple such as this example so maybe regular expressions, while I'm accustomed to them, are overkill?

• JavaScript keeps returning ambigious error (in ASP.NET MVC 2.0)

  Hi, I have a UpdatePanel includes some panels. I want to add to these panel some controls according to the operations. After i click any button twice or after first page load the page gives error. • Can I copy the CollapsiblePanelExtender in jQuery as one method?

  I am beginning the process of moving away from the AjaxControlToolkit and toward jQuery. What I want to do is have one function that duplicates the functionality of the CollapsiblePanelExtender. For a particular set of hyperlink and div, the code looks like this: $('#nameHyperLink').click(function() { var div = $('#nameDiv'); var link = $('#nameHyperLink'); if (div.css('display') == 'none') { link.text('Hide Data'); div.show(400); } else { link.text('Show Data'); div.hide(400); } }); What I really want to do is only have to write this function once, then use it for many (approx 40) instances throughout my website. • ASP.NET page content doesn't change

  Hi, I created an application which has a menu where it's items are created dynamicly. I use session variables to set my current language. however if I click on the menu to change the session variable: public void LanguageMenu_MenuItemClick(Object sender, MenuEventArgs e) { Session["language"] = e.Item.Text; } The page reloads with the following code: sportsPath = String.Format(@"{0}{1}\Sports\", xmlPath, Session["language"]); //create LeftNavigation string[] sports = Directory.GetFiles(sportsPath); LeftNavigation.Items.Clear(); foreach (string sport in sports) { string text = sport.Replace(sportsPath, "").Replace(".xml", ""); MenuItem item = new MenuItem(); item.Text = text; LeftNavigation.Items.Add(item); } The thing is the content doesn't change, only after I click on something else. If I skip through my code after clicking on the menuItem I can see that it passes the code and it should change, however for some reason the page needs another extra trigger to modify it's content. I also see the page reloading so I don't understand why it's not changing immediatly. I guess I'm not understanding the asp.net logic just quite yet. What am I doing wrong?

• Broken tables in RichTextBox control (word wrap)

  We are having problems with the Windows.Forms.RichTextBox control in Visual Studio 2008. We are trying to display text supplied as an RTF file by a 3rd party in a windows forms application (.NET 3.5). In this RTF text file there are tables, which contain text that spans multiple lines. The RTF file displays correctly when opened with either WordPad or Word 2003. However, when we load the RTF file into the RichTextBox control, or copy & paste the whole text (including the table) into the control, the table does not display correctly - the cells are only single line, without wrapping. Here are links to images showing the exact problem: Correctly displayed in WordPad Incorrectly displayed in RichTextBox control I have googled for solutions and 3rd party .net RTF controls without success. I have found this exact problem asked on another forum without an answer (in fact that's where the link to the images come from) so I'm hoping stack overflow does better ;-) My preferred solution would be to use code or a 3rd party control that can correctly render the RTF. However, I suspect the problem is that the RichTextBox control only supports a subset of the full RTF spec, so another option would be to modify the RTF directly to remove the unsupported control codes or otherwise fix the RTF file itself (in which case any information as to what control codes need to be removed or modified would be a huge help).

• How do I place widgets above and below a listview with Relative Layout

  I have a list view and want to put stuff both above(on the y axis) and below(y axis) it including images, text views, and a row of buttons. Below is a simplified version of what I am creating.
