• How to resize pdf graphics produced in R using Illustrator

  I am making plots in R using the pdf() command. Graphs look perfect and resize nicely in Acrobat Reader. My usual workflow includes manipulating labels etc. in Illustrator, saving as .eps for submission to publishers or inserting in Word. All works fine for single graphs. Now I am trying to combine 4 graphs into one by manually putting them together in an A4 Illustrator document. However, when I resize the standard 7x7 inches pdf graph in Illustrator to fit in one column of an A4 page (ca 3.4 inches wide), all proportions get screwed up, e.g. lines and symbols outlines become way too thick. Using pdf(..., width=3.4, height=3.4) in R messes up all the symbol and font sizes so carefully chosen to produce the original graph. Why can't I resize the graph within Illustrator the same way I can resize the pdf e.g. in Acrobat Reader?

• Is it not possible to print a pdf from a hyperlink?

  I have looked for weeks and I keep hitting dead ends. I know you can create a text or image link and tell it to "print page" in a browser. But so far, I can't get it to print a document, specifically a pdf. I would like the print dialog to show after the link is clicked and yes, the pdf linked to has been printed. Why does this seem to be such an impossible feat? I have seen it work in a Flash movie, but since I cannot access the native file I cannot see how it was done. Any advice? Thanks.

• Are browsers permitted to render <li>s in any order?

  As I understand the XML spec, the significance of the order of child elements is not guaranteed. XML parsers tend to keep child elements in the same order as they occur in the XML document, but they are under no obligation to do so. If that's so, then are browsers free to render the <li>s in an <ol> or an <ul> in a different order than they occur in the XHTML? Or is it specified in the XHTML spec somewhere that order has to be preserved? I realise that all major browsers will respect the order of my <li>s. I'm just interested in the academic question of whether or not they are technically obliged to.

  Hi, I have a jQuery Model windows which contains a form. On creating of the page, I'm able to see the fields although in my dialog, i have set autoOpen to false. • MS Excel 03 - Deleting rows that have live string identifiers in column A, while concatenating other

  I have this xml document that is provided as a data feed (right off the bat I can not modify the source of the data feed) and i import it into excel with the xml import. there is no schema that comes with this xml so i get a table that ends up having a whole bunch of duplicates for an identifier, because of the unique values spread throughout the spreadsheet. XML in XLS Col1(IDnum) Col2(name) Col3(Type) Col4(Category) Col(etc) ================================================================= 0011 Item 01 6B 0011 Item xxj9 7B 0011 Item xxj9 0011 Item 02 0011 Item 01 xxj9 6B 0012 etc I need to delete all rows where columnA string/number matches while concatenating all potential values from Col3, Col4 & Col5 together so it looks like this Col1(IDnum) Col2(name) Col3(Type) Col4(Category) Col(etc) ================================================================= 0011 Item 01, 02 xxj9 6B, 7B what visual basic method would allow me to accomplish this? thanks

  Hopefully this is a pretty simple question! I've got the code working in jQuery to listen for a specific form on a page to be submitted and perform an alert when it is.. I.e.: The form itself doesn't have a name so I am targetting the form within a specific form ID. $("#content form").submit(function() { alert("lorem ipsum dolor?"); }); What would be the syntax for performing this in javascript alone without using jquery?   Hi, Im trying to load a custom error document for a 404 error using a .htaccess file on a linux server, the page gets the current page URL then redirects to another site (which is retrieved from a db) based on an id it retrieved from the URL. The current error documents are stored here: /error_docs/ - i dont have permission to upload anything other than the HTML files that are already in there /HTTPDocs/301redir.php is the site root where the .htaccess file is. i have used the following to load the 301redir.php page as the error doc, which works in FF but no other browsers. ErrorDocument 404 /310redir.php using .htaccess is my only real option for changing this, is there a way to get around this issue and make it work across all browsers?

• Combining XSLT transforms

  Is there a way to combine two XSLT documents into a single XSLT document that does the same as transforming using the original two in sequence? i.e. Combining XSLTA and XSLTB into XSLTC such that XSLTB( XSLTA( xml )) == XSLTC( xml )? There's three reasons I'd like to be able to do this: Simplifies development; some operations need sequential transforms, and although I can generate a combined one by hand, it's a lot more difficult to maintain that two much simpler, separate transforms. Speed; one transform is in most cases hopefully faster than two. I'm currently working on a program that literally just transforms a data file in XML into an XHTML page capable of editing it using one XSLT, and a second XSLT that transforms the XHTML page back into the data file when it's saved. One test I hope to be able to do is to combine the two, and easily confirm that the 'combined' XSLT should leave the data unchanged.

  I've strange error i don't understand. I'm just moving my code from jQuery over to Mootools because it's much cleaner than the jQuery mess. Now when i use the $$('div.canvas') in mootools i get the correct element. When i try $(document).getElement('div.canvas') it tells me that $ is not defined. How can $$ and all helper functions like $lambda etc. be defined but not $? Has something changed there from 1.1 to 1.2 and the docs are not updated yet?
