• Problem with response.redirect sending incorrect HTTPMethod

  Hi, I've got a strange problem with a Response.Redirect. I'm using VB.NET with the .NET 2 framework (so VS2005 & SP1). I've got a page that I do a form submit on (that's a proper form method="POST" hard-coded onto the page) and that properly posts me back the page data which is then processed. As part of that processing the system determines if we need to get sent to another URL after processing has been complete. So the request.httpmethod = "POST". So if the "GotoPage" parameter has a URL specified we then do a response.redirect(URL, false). (False as we want page processing to complete in order to write some timing logs etc). The page correctly redirects but instead of the response having a "GET" as the request.httpmethod it has a "POST" instead ! Now, we're using our own custom framework so that we use the HTTPRequest method to determine if a page has been posted back or is being "Getted" so the "IsPagePostBack" property doesn't work (that only works when you're using the normal .NET controls and form submissions). In all other instances our code works happily but what might be causing the Request.httpMethod to not be being set correctly ? I've tried doing a response.clear before the redirect in case headers are being written out before hand but to no avail. Any clues ?! thanks, Andy

• WPF Combobox Updates list but not the selected item

  I have a combo box on a WPF form. On this form the user selects a record from the combo box which populates the rest of the fields on the form so the user can update that record. When they click save I am re-retrieving the combo box source which updates the combo box list. The problem is the selected item keeps the original label even though the data behind it is different. When you expand the combo box the selected item shows the right label. I am using a command binding mechanism. Here is some of the relevant code. private void SaveSalesRep() { BindFromView(); if (_salesRep.Id == 0) SalesRepRepository.AddAndSave(_salesRep); else SalesRepRepository.DataContext.SaveChanges(); int originalId = _salesRep.Id; InitSalesRepDropDown(); SalesRepSelItem = ((List<SalesRep>) SalesRepItems.SourceCollection).Find(x => x.Id == originalId); } private void InitSalesRepDropDown() { var salesRepRepository = IoC.GetRepository<ISalesRepRepository>(); IEnumerable<SalesRep> salesReps = salesRepRepository.GetAll(); _salesRepItems = new CollectionView(salesReps); NotifyPropertyChanged("SalesRepItems"); SalesRepSelItem = SalesRepItems.GetItemAt(0) as SalesRep; } The Selected Item property on the combo box is bound to SalesRepSelItem Property and the ItemsSource is bound to SalesRepItems which is backed by _salesRepItems. THe SalesRepSelItem property called NotifyPropertyChanges("SalesRepSelItem") which raises a PropertyChanged event. All told the binding of new items seems to work and the list updates, but the label on the selected item doesnt. Any ideas? Thanks all.

  I'm developing a project using BDD/TDD techniques and I'm trying my best to stay the course. A problem I just ran into is unit testing the DefaultModelBinder. I'm using mspec to write my tests. • jQuery ajax callback function not working

  I am using Symfony PHP Framework to create web application, and using symfony Forms to create the HTML forms. I am trying to load the data in Select element using Ajax, for that i am using jQuery's Ajax functions. It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

  So I was just trying to setup a basic user authentication in Django and downloaded a django registration app with templates. Now when I run the server at 127.0.0.1:8000/accounts/register/ I get a basic registration page, I fill in the details and when I click submit I get this error "NoReverseMatch at /accounts/register/" Error during template rendering In template Users/sudhasinha/mysite/mysite/registration/templates/registration/activation_email.txt, error at line 4 'url' requires a non-empty first argument. • Suggestions for GUI of a multiledia messaging application in J2ME

  Hello everyone, We have developed a messaging application in j2me which adds text message, gets pictures from gallery and attaches them to the message etc and sends it over to a server after encryption, i.e. the client wants the messages to be encrypted. The app is ready but the only problem is that the GUI of the app looks miserable compared to the GUI of native messaging application on Nokia phones. Our GUI consists of a texfield for adding recipients i.e. the user clicks "options" to "add recipients" and is taken to a new form where contacts are shown. but the textfield is not in one line (like in case of native app). Also, we need the user to input the text message in a textField since we cannot have textbox inside a form (but the native app has a textbox as well as a textField ). Are there any ways to achieve such GUIs (one-line textfields, textbox like thing inside a form)? I hope you all understand what I mean, any kind of help will be appreciated. • How to determine whether a dependency object implements a given dependency property (C# / WPF)

  I am working with the classes in the System.Windows.Documents namespace, trying to write some generic code that will conditionally set the value of certain dependency properties, depending on whether these properties exist on a given class. For example, the following method assigns an arbitrary value to the Padding property of the passed FrameworkContentElement: void SetElementPadding(FrameworkContentElement element) { element.SetValue(Block.PaddingProperty, new Thickness(155d)); } However, not all concrete implementations of FrameworkContentElement have a Padding property (Paragraph does but Span does not) so I would expect the property assignment to succeed for types that implement this property and to be silently ignored for types that do not. But it seems that the above property assignment succeeds for instances of all derivatives of FrameworkContentElement, regardless of whether they implement the Padding property. I make this assumption because I have always been able to read back the assigned value. I assume there is some flaw in the way I am assigning property values. What should I do to ensure that a given dependency property assignment is ignored by classes that do not implement that property? Many thanks for your advice. Tim

  I am writing some Selenium tests and I need to be able to find an ancestor of a WebElement that I have already found.   I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

• Listening and firing events with Javascript and maybe jQuery

  In my Javascript and Flex applications, users often perform actions that I want other Javascript code on the page to listen for. For example, if someone adds a friend. I want my Javascript app to then call something like triggerEvent("addedFriend", name);. Then any other code that was listening for the "addedFriend" event will get called along with the name. Is there a built-in Javascript mechanism for handling events? I'm ok with using jQuery for this too and I know jQuery makes extensive use of events. But with jQuery, it seems that its event mechanism is all based around elements. As I understand, you have to tie a custom event to an element. I guess I can do that to a dummy element, but my need has nothing to do with DOM elements on a webpage. Should I just implement this event mechanism myself?

• Moving from Linear Probing to Quadratic Probing (hash collisons)

  Hi, My current implementation of an Hash Table is using Linear Probing and now I want to move to Quadratic Probing (and later to chaining and maybe double hashing too). I've read a few articles, tutorials, wikipedia, etc... But I still don't know exactly what I should do. Linear Probing, basically, has a step of 1 and that's easy to do. When searching, inserting or removing an element from the Hash Table, I need to calculate an hash and for that I do this: index = hash_function(key) % table_size; Then, while searching, inserting or removing I loop through the table until I find a free bucket, like this: do { if(/* CHECK IF IT'S THE ELEMENT WE WANT */) { // FOUND ELEMENT return; } else { index = (index + 1) % table_size; } while(/* LOOP UNTIL IT'S NECESSARY */); As for Quadratic Probing, I think what I need to do is change how the "index" step size is calculated but that's what I don't understand how I should do it. I've seen various pieces of code, and all of them are somewhat different. Also, I've seen some implementations of Quadratic Probing where the hash function is changed to accommodated that (but not all of them). Is that change really needed or can I avoid modifying the hash function and still use Quadratic Probing? EDIT: After reading everything pointed out by Eli Bendersky below I think I got the general idea. However, in the code above, it's doing something more like c(i)=(i^2-i)/2 I was ready to implement this on my code but I would simply do: index = (index + (index^index)) % table_size; ...and not: index = (index + (index^index - index)/2) % table_size; If anything, I would do: index = (index + (index^index)/2) % table_size; ...cause I've seen other code examples diving by two. Although I don't understand why... 1) Why is it subtracting the step? 2) Why is it diving it by 2?

• Trying to integrate Jeditable+MarkItUp and Thickbox/Lightbox

  I've managed to successfully integrate MarkItUp with Jeditable based on the instructions on those two sites. What I would really like to do, however, is to have the Jeditable/MarkItUp editing window appear in a Thickbox or Lightbox overlay. So far my attempts to do this have not been successful.   I've read that including the scripts dynamically may provide some better performance, however i'm not really seeing that on the small local tests I'm doing. I created a jquery plugin to dynamically load other plugins as necessary and am curious as to if this is actually a good idea.   Hi, Can anyone advise if its possible to pass data via JQUERY to an ASP.NET MVC controller action and have a view rendered in new browser tab based on the model data passed to the action method. My scenario is that I have a Jqgrid populated with product info on a page. The user would tick the items in the grid that they would like a label produced for. After they've made their slection they would click a button and I would like (if possible) to render a view of that contains a label for each selected item and have the view render in a new browser tab. All the code to allow the selections and post the relevant data back to the action method is all working fine and I know its easy to use the Jquery $(selector).load() command to populate an element on the current page with the HTML returned from the action. But is it possible to populate an element on a page in a new browser tab. If it is how would I go about it? Hope this make sense.

The problem is this ModelForm is that each field defined in the model will be displayed on the template. I would like to remove them from the form if they are not needed: exemple : if the user has no right on the model Company, it won't be used it in the rendered form in the template. The problem of that is you have to put the list of fields in the Meta class of the form with fields or exclude attribute, but i don't know how to manage them dynamically. Any Idea?? • Force creation of query execution plan

  I have the following situation: .net 3.5 WinForm client app accessing SQL Server 2008 Some queries returning relatively big amount of data are used quite often by a form Users are using local SQL Express and restarting their machines at least daily Other users are working remotely over slow network connections The problem is that after a restart, the first time users open this form the queries are extremely slow and take more or less 15s on a fast machine to execute. Afterwards the same queries take only 3s. Of course this comes from the fact that no data is cached and must be loaded from disk first. My question: Would it be possible to force the loading of the required data in advance into SQL Server cache? Note My first idea was to execute the queries in a background worker when the application starts, so that when the user starts the form the queries will already be cached and execute fast directly. I however don't want to load the result of the queries over to the client as some users are working remotely or have otherwise slow networks. So I thought just executing the queries from a stored procedure and putting the results into temporary tables so that nothing would be returned. Turned out that some of the result sets are using dynamic columns so I couldn't create the corresponding temp tables and thus this isn't a solution. Do you happen to have any other idea?
