  I'm trying to use PHP 5.3.2 + Fcgid 2.3.5 + Apache 2.2.14 but I always have the error : "Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server". • Glassfish V3 won't start

  Hi everybody, I installed NetBeans 6.8 and tried to run the GlasshFish V3 server. I'm working under Windows Vista 32 Bits. First, it won't run. • Can't get Monit to work

  I am trying to configure Monit on my local machine to get a taste at how it works, but I have some issues. What I am trying to do is to get any evidence that Monit is up and running correctly and is actually monitoring something. So my /etc/monit/monitrc looks like set daemon 60 set logfile /var/log/monit.log set idfile /var/lib/monit/id set statefile /var/lib/monit/state set eventqueue basedir /var/lib/monit/events slots 100 set httpd port 2812 and allow username:password check process apache2 with pidfile /usr/local/apache/logs/apache2.pid start program = "/etc/init.d/apache2 start" stop program = "/etc/init.d/apache2 stop" if failed port 6543 protocol http then exec "/usr/bin/touch /tmp/monit" If I understand correctly, since apache does not listen on port 6543 (it is just a random number) I should get an error, and as a consequence the file /tmp/monit should be created. So I start monit by sudo service monit start sudo monit monitor apache2 Unfortunately no such file is created. Instead the web console shows an error for apache - execution failed. The log says 'apache2' failed to start. What am I doing wrong? EDIT As suggested in the comments, I ran monit in verbose mode, by monit -vv monitor apache2 (the exact command suggested in the comments failed). • Downloading Python 2.5.4 (from official website) in order to install it

  I was quite hesitant about whether I should post this question here on "StackOverflow" or on "SuperUser", but finally decided to post it here as Python is more a programming language rather than a piece of software. I've been recently using Python 2.5.4 that is installed on my computer, but at the moment I am not at home (and won't be for about two weeks from now), so I need to install the same version of Python on another computer. This computer has Windows XP installed – just like the one that I have at home. The reason why I need Python 2.5.4 is because I am using “Google App Engine”, and I was told that it only supports Python 2.5 However, when I went to the official Python page for the download, I discovered that certain things have changed, and I don’t quite remember where exactly from that site I had downloaded Python 2.5.4 on my computer at home. I found this page: http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/ Here is how it looks: (If you can’t see it here, please check it out at this address: http://brad.cwahi.net/some_pictures/python_page.jpg ) A few things here are not clear to me. It says: For x86 processors: python-2.5.4.msi For Win64-Itanium users: python-2.5.4.ia64.msi For Win64-AMD64 users: python-2.5.4.amd64.msi First of all, I don’t know what processor I am using – whether mine is “x86” or not; and also, I don’t know whether I am an “Win64-Itanium” or an “Win64-AMD64” user. Are Itanium and AMD64 also processors? Later it says: Windows XP and later already have MSI; many older machines will already have MSI installed. I guess, it is my case, but then I am totally puzzled as to which link I should click as it seems now that I don’t need those three previous links (as MSI is already installed on Windows XP), but there is no fourth link provided for those who use “Windows XP” or older machines. Of course, there are these words after that: Windows users may also be interested in Mark Hammond's win32all package, available from Sourceforge. but it seems to me that it is something additional rather than the main file. So, my question is simple: Where in the official Python website I can download Python 2.5.4, precisely, which link I should click?

• Memcached Debuging/Server Logs Monitor the Memcached Servers?

  I have chat engine which is based on the Memcached variables, putting them into arrays and reading them in other end via jquery, which works fine 95% of the times, however when the server load is high memcached (presume its the memcached) the crash and browser gets stucks up. I dont think its jquery issue since this only happens when the server load is very high. I need a way to monitor the memcached servers or somehow write a log file into where the fails/errors comes in... Any idea on how i can do this ? or any idea why memcached servers fails ? • PHP 5.3 Not Logging

  I have set error_log = "/var/log/apache2/php_errors.log" and made sure errors were being logged. I have set the file to be owned by the www-data owner and group and even set the permissions to 777. I have confirmed with phpinfo() that the error_log is correctly set, however The logging still only happens in my vhost's apache error log.   OK, I'm a C# programmer that is trying to streamline the deployment of a custom windows form app I inherited and built an installer for with WiX (this app will need to be reinstalled regularly as I'm making changes to it). I'm not really used to admin type things (or vbs, or WMI, or terminal servers, or Citrix, and even WiX and MSI are not things I usually deal with) but so far I put together some vbs and have an end goal in mind. The msi does work, and I've installed it from the mapped O: drive on my dev machine and while RDP'd to a citrix machine. End Goal: Deploy code written on my dev machine and compiled into an MSI (that I can improve upon within the confines of WiX and whatever the Windows Installer Engine allows) to the cluster of Citrix machines my users have access to. • PDF Corruption When Sending with Microsoft Products

  I have the same PDF corruption problem in two different offices that I am the tech support for. Office 1: Started in the middle of December. PDF received from outside the office and is viewable with no problems. I have no control over how it is created. If it is forwarded to anyone else, the PDF is corrupted. I have forwarded it to multiple people in the office. I have tried viewing with Reader 8, 9, Sumatra and Fox IT. I have tried forwarding to Gmail and their viewer says it is corrupted. If I save the PDF and create a new email, it will be corrupted when sent using Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Microsoft Live Mail and Outlook Express. If I create the email using Thunderbird 3, Gmail or the webclient Iclient for IPSwitch IMail it will not be corrupted. I have confirmed the same results when using our IMail SMTP and also Using Gmail as the SMTP server. To be clear, if I created in Thunderbird, Gmail or Iclient and received on any of the MS products, it will be viewable. This office receives PDFs daily from multiple sources. There is only a small subset that are having this problem. So far they problem PDFs are from two different companies they deal with, but not all of the PDFs are bad. Office 2: PDFs are created by a management system. I'm not sure what engine is used to create them. Same exact same issues. At both offices, I noticed that the file size is wrong. One small PDF the proper file size is 12kb for the PDF when it's viewable, when it shows up corrupted it is only 8kb. We handle the email for both offices. Both are POP servers, not Exchange. IMail was updated after these issues start. I have tried different SMTP servers and it still seems to happen only when using Microsoft products to send. Anyone else having problems with PDFs getting corrupted? Any ideas how to find out a resolution?

• nginx can't see MySQL

  I have a fully working Joomla 2.5.6 install driven by a local MySQL server, but I'd like to test nginx to see if it's a faster web serving experience than Apache. \ PHP 5.4.6 (PHP54w) \ CentOS 6.2 \ Joomla 2.5.6 \ PHP54w-fpm.i386 (FastCGI process manager) \ php -m shows: mysql & mysqli modules loaded Nginx seems to have installed fine via yum, it can process a PHP-info file via FastCGI perfectly OK (http://37.128.190.241/php.php) but when I stop Apache, start nginx instead and visit my site I get: "Database connection error (1): The MySQL adapter 'mysqli' is not available." I've tried adjusting my Joomla configuration.php to use mysql instead of mysqli but I get the same basic error, only this time "Database connection error (1): The MySQL adapter 'mysql' is not available" of course! Can anyone think what the problem might be please? I did try explicitly setting extension = mysqli.so and extension = mysql.so in my php.ini to try and force the issue (despite php -m showing they were both successfully loaded anyway) - no difference.   I have to run clamav on large files. I was wondering which command was the fastest between clamscan and clamdscan. But it seems that clamdscan is not working properly: it scans file larger than 1 GB. Could you guys help me find why the heck clamdscan isn't working ? Between clamscan and clamdscan which one is less resource consuming ? I run ClamAV 0.97.8/18037 on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS. • Lighttpd with FastCGI configuration running ViewVC - rewrite problems

  At the moment I am struggling with the configuration of lighttpd together with ViewVC. The configuration was ported from Apache 2.2.x, which is still running on the machine, serving the WebDAV/SVN stuff, being proxied through. Now, the problem I am having appears to be with the rewrite rules and I'm not really sure what I am missing here. However, when I look at the links for each respective repository (or click them, for that matter), it's of the form https://domain.tld/viewvc.fcgi/reponame instead of the intended https://domain.tld/reponame. What do I have to change/add to achieve this? Do I have to "abuse" the index file mechanism somehow? Goal is to keep the /mercurial alias functional. So far I've tried sifting through the lighttpd book from Packt again, also through the lighttpd documentation, but found nothing that seemed to match the problem.

• Display is slightly blurry on (native) 1920x1080 resolution

  I have a computer monitor that is approximately 23" in size. Its native resolution is 1920x1080, and Windows 7 will not allow it to be any higher. However, I cannot make the resolution a little lower as well. When I right-click on my desktop and select 'Screen resolution,' the vertical slider has only two options: 1920x1080 and 1280x720. There are no real problems that I am having besides the fact that the image is slightly blurry. I can easily make things out and see them, but I definitely feel that the image is not as clear as it could be. My graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 5450 and it has the latest graphics drivers installed. I've tried playing around with the AMD VISION Engine Control Center to see if I can change an option to make the image clearer, but I had no luck. I did find one odd thing, though. When I lowered the refresh rate from 60Hz to 50Hz, the image kind of "zoomed in" but it also became perfectly clear like I would expect it to look. The problem is that when I use 50Hz, the image zooms in a little on the center and I lose maybe an inch and a half of the screen (I do not see the bar at the top of applications, I do not see the Windows taskbar thing, etc). I figured if I could somehow zoom in so that the entire image fills the screen (not the slightly cropped version) then I would have the perfectly crisp image of 50Hz, and also the uncropped image of 60Hz. However, upon zooming in, the image began to look blurry again just like it did with 60Hz. So I am at a loss here. I do not know how to make the image look as clear as it should. I have the latest drivers (I updated them today) and I know that my monitor supports the resolution that I am trying to use. Has anybody experienced something like this before? I'd really appreciate any input - thanks! Update: I have figured out how to make the display look crisp! I set it to the 50Hz option, and then I changed the scaling through the monitor itself, rather than software. Now, however, I am finding that games look pretty bad because since it is clear, the lower quality really becomes apparent. I cannot run new games at 1080p, so I run them at the lowest resolution possible (1280x720, since it is the only other option offered, as I have mentioned). So I am wondering, is there a way to have Windows display more resolution options?

I’m trying to setup a cakephp environment on a Centos server running Nginx with Fact CGI. I already have a wordpress site running on the server and a phpmyadmin site so I have PHP configured correctly. My problem is that I cannot get the rewrite rules setup correct in my vhost so that cake renders pages correctly i.e. with styling and so on.   I have a TeX file, which is typeset by XeLaTeX. The file has \includegraphics{coverimage.eps} on the first page, and coverimage.eps is located in the same directory as the TeX file. OS: MacOS 10.6.5, TextMate 1.5.10, xelatex 3.1415926-2.2-0.9997.4 (TeX Live 2010) If I run xelatex doc.tex in console, file compiles without errors, and eps file is included. I compared .log files from typesetting in TextMate and in console, they are absolutely identical except for this error message (in particular, version of xelatex is the same). • Cannot get to configure Kerberos for Reporting Services

  Context I am trying to configure Kerberos in the domain for double-hop authentication. So here are the machines and their respective roles: client01: Windows 7 as client dc01: Windows Server 2008 R2 as domain controller and dns server01: Windows Server 2008 R2 as reporting server (native mode) server02: Windows Server 2008 R2 as SQL Server database engine I want my client01 to connect to server01 and configure a data source that is located on server02 using Intergrated Security. So as NTLM cannot push credentials that far, I need to setup Kerberos to enable double-hop authentication. The reporting service is runned by the Network Service service account and is configured only with the RSWindowsNegotiate options for authentication. Issue I cannot get to pass my client01 credential to server02 when configuring the data source on server01. Therefore I get the error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. So I went on dc01 and delegated full trust for any service to server01 but it not fixed the problem. I want to notice that I did not configured any SPNs for server01 because Reporting Service is runned by Network Service and from what I read on the Internet, when Reporting Services is going up with Network Service, SPNs are automatically registered. My problem is that even if that I want to configure SPNs manually, I do not know where I have to set them up. On dc01 or on server01? So I went a bit further on the issue and tried to trace this problem. From my understanding of Kerberos, this is what should happen on the network when I try to connect the data source: client01 ---- AS_REQ ---> dc01 <--- AS_REP ---- client01 ---- TGS_REQ ---> dc01 <--- TGS_REP ---- client01 ---- AP_REQ ---> server01 <--- AP_REP ---- server01 ---- TGS_REQ ---> dc01 <--- TGS_REP ---- server01 ---- AP_REQ ---> server02 <--- AP_REP ---- So captured my local network with Wireshark, but whenever I try to configure my data source from client01 on server01 to pass my credentials to server02, my client never sends a AS_REQ or TGS_REQ to the KDC on dc01. Questions So does anyone can tell me if I should configure the SPNs and on which machine does it have to be configured? Also why client01 never request for a TGT or a TGS to my KDC. Do you think there is something going wrong with the DC role of dc01?

  I have this annoying mistake in some of my builds. There is no error in the project, because if I build again, then the problem disappears. The message only appears, when the site is deployed to a Windows 2008 Server. I first thought that it might be an issue with temporary files, but thats not the case. I deployed the build to a different web and the error still appears. The error appears on random actions of the site. Most of the time builds are ok, but each 3rd or 4th build produces runtime errors. I build using a WebdeploymentProject in release mode. Views are precompiled. It's not http://stackoverflow.com/questions/178194/in-asp-net-mvc-i-encounter-an-incorrect-type-error-when-rendering-a-page-with-the, because views have totally different names. How I can debug this problem or how I can get help for this? • Loading PNGs into OpenGL performance issues - Java & JOGL much slower than C# & Tao.OpenGL

  I am noticing a large performance difference between Java & JOGL and C# & Tao.OpenGL when both loading PNGs from storage into memory, and when loading that BufferedImage (java) or Bitmap (C# - both are PNGs on hard drive) 'into' OpenGL. This difference is quite large, so I assumed I was doing something wrong, however after quite a lot of searching and trying different loading techniques I've been unable to reduce this difference. With Java I get an image loaded in 248ms and loaded into OpenGL in 728ms The same on C# takes 54ms to load the image, and 34ms to load/create texture. The image in question above is a PNG containing transparency, sized 7200x255, used for a 2D animated sprite. I realise the size is really quite ridiculous and am considering cutting up the sprite, however the large difference is still there (and confusing). Edit2: I have found that creating a new BufferedImage with format TYPE_INT_ARGB_PRE decreases OpenGL texture load time by almost half - this includes having to create the new BufferedImage, getting the Graphics2D from it and then rendering the previously loaded image to it. Edit3: Benchmark results for 5 variations. I wrote a small benchmarking tool, the following results come from loading a set of 33 pngs, most are very wide, 5 times. testStart: ImageIO.read(file) -> TextureIO.newTexture(image) result: avg = 10250ms, total = 51251 testStart: ImageIO.read(bis) -> TextureIO.newTexture(image) result: avg = 10029ms, total = 50147 testStart: ImageIO.read(file) -> TextureIO.newTexture(argbImage) result: avg = 5343ms, total = 26717 testStart: ImageIO.read(bis) -> TextureIO.newTexture(argbImage) result: avg = 5534ms, total = 27673 testStart: TextureIO.newTexture(file) result: avg = 10395ms, total = 51979 ImageIO.read(bis) refers to the technique described in James Branigan's answer below. argbImage refers to the technique described in my previous edit: img = ImageIO.read(file); argbImg = new BufferedImage(img.getWidth(), img.getHeight(), TYPE_INT_ARGB_PRE); g = argbImg.createGraphics(); g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, null); texture = TextureIO.newTexture(argbImg, false); Any more methods of loading (either images from file, or images to OpenGL) would be appreciated, I will update these benchmarks.

• Samplegrabber works fine on AVI/MPEG files but choppy with WMV

  I have been using the latest version of the WPFMediaKit. What I am trying to do is write a sample application that will use the Samplegrabber to capture the video frames of video files so I can have them as individual Bitmaps. So far, I have had good luck with the following code when constructing and rendering my graph. However, when I use this code to play back a .wmv video file, when the samplegrabber is attached, it will play back jumpy or choppy. If I comment out the line where I add the samplegrabber filter, it works fine. I have attempted inserting a WMAsfReader to decode which works, but once it goes to the VMR9 it gives the same behavior. Also, I have gotten it to work correctly when I comment out the IBaseFilter renderer = CreateVideoMixingRenderer9(m_graph, 1); line and have filterGraph.Render(pins[0]); -- the only drawback is that now it renders in an Activemovie widow of its own instead of my control, however the samplegrabber functions correctly and without any skipping. So I am thinking the bug is in the VMR9 / samplegrabbing somewhere. Any help? I am new to this.
