  • How to safely let users submit custom themes/plugins for a Rails app

    In my rails app I'd like to let users submit custom "themes" to display data in various ways. I think they can get the data in the view using API calls and I can create an authentication mechanism for this. Also an authenticated API to save data. So this is probably safe. But i'm struggling with the best way to let users upload/submit their own code for the theme. I want this to work sort of like Wordpress themes/plugins where people can upload the thing. But there are some security risks. For example, if I take the uploaded "theme" a user submits and put it in it's own directory somewhere inside the rails app, what are the risks of this? If the user inserts any rails executable code in their theme, even though it's the view they have full access at that point to all the models, everyone's data, etc. Even from other users. So that is not good. I need some way to let the uploaded themes exist in a sandbox of the rails app, but I haven't seen a good way to do this. Any ideas?

    Is it possible to create a custom control structure with several code blocks, in the fashion of before { block1 } then { block2 } finally { block3 }? The question is about the sugar part only - I know the functionality can be easily achieved by passing the three blocks to a method, like doInSequence(block1, block2, block3). A real life example.     Hi, The context menu is not popping up on the long click on the list items in the list view.   • UIViewTableCell didSelectRowAtIndexPath is calling but not pushing a view controller

    Hi guys, so im having a UIViewController view with a UITableView. So the UIViewController class name is SelectionScreen. The UITableView class name is SelectionScreenTable. Picture: http://img717.imageshack.us/i/screenshot20100609atpm0.png/ I have declared a UITableView *selectionTable in SelectionScreen class and connected it to the xib file of the SelectionScreen what the problem is , is that when i click a row in the table,it stays selected as highlighted blue, it calls the didSelectRowAtIndexPath (checked with NSLog) but not pushing a new view which is called(GraphView). This is the code which i use to call the new controller WHICH WORKS with a normal button GraphView *aSelectionScreenViewController = [[GraphView alloc] initWithNibName:@"GraphView" bundle:nil]; [self presentModalViewController:aSelectionScreenViewController animated: YES]; [aSelectionScreenViewController release]; I searched around and found that I need to set a delegate for the table in the UITableView class itself on the viewload tableview.delegate = self; or self.tableview.delegate = self; But it was not working. the controller was still not being pushed, and yes i have checked the controller is not nil as i tried it with a simple button. So i was thinking whether i should set the delegate of the UITableView at the UIViewController instead, so i tried this code selectionTable.delegate = selectionTable.self; but obviously it did not work =\, it messed up the whole UITableView and caused all the cells to be its predefined settings. So does anybody have any idea on how i can get it to work.

  • Table cell in a split-view controller - selected cell becomes deselected when called by reloadData

    I'm working on a universal app that uses a SplitViewController to present a master-detail view. In the iPad HIG on Split Views, Apple states: In general, indicate the current selection in the left pane in a persistent way. This behavior helps people understand the relationship between the item in the left pane and the contents of the right pane. This is important because the contents of the right pane can change, but they should always remain related to the item selected in the left pane. So I'm trying to maintain selection state on the left. Easy enough when the user taps, I just remove the deselectRowAtIndexPath:animated: message from tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath: implementation. But, I also want the selection state to show up by default (without a user tap). I wound up putting this in my tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: implementation: if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) { if (cellShouldBeSelected) cell.selected = YES; else cell.selected = NO; } The behavior I'm seeing, is that when the cells finall appear, for a fraction of a section the cell is indeed selected, but then the selection disappears without any user interaction. Any ideas? I set the new clearsSelectionOnViewWillAppear property to NO, but that doesn't seem to fix it, and it shouldn't really matter because I'm marking the cell as selected long after viewWillAppear is called - I'm actually doing it after some network activity and then sending the table view a reloadData message.

  • Asp.Net tree view in SharePoint webpart- Input string error

    Hi All, I am facing a very strange issue. I have a SharePoint webpart that displays an asp.net tree view. It takes tree depth from a drop down. To improve performance of the tree view, i am setting the PopulateOnDemand property to true for the last level of the tree depth. For example, if i have a total of 10 levels in the data and the user selects tree depth as 3, then the third level data i set PopulateOnDemand to true. Now comes the strange part. When i click on the + image on the third level, and if there are children under that particular node then call back happens and node gets expanded. But if there no children for that particular node, then click + throws "Input string was not in the correct format" error. I have made sure that there is no server side error. Some things looks to be fishy when internet explorer is trying to bind construct the expanded node. Please let me know if any one faced similar issue or the resolution for the same?     Looking at the source code of Action.Submit, I'm trying to figure out where ext is appending the form's fields to the parameters. Instead of sending each field as a separate parameter, I want to send something like: formObj:{field1:value, field2:value} Currently, each of those values are simply added to the parameter list along with any custom/baseParams. Where are these formfields being added so that I can change this behaviour? Thanks.

  • Custom animation problem in Powerpoint 2003

    I have an animation of a grid that scrolls to the left. It's a Gantt chart, and it works fine. I then have several elements I want to drop on the grid, I give them all the same movement animation and this works fine, everything scrolls at the same speed and time. However I want to add entrance animations for the elements on the grid, I can have it so that when all the entrance animations are complete then it starts scrolling, but I want it to enter whilst it is scrolling. How do you have an entrance animation for an element and keep it's position updated? The entrance animation and movement animation don't seem to work together as expected when run simultaneously. cheers!

  • MVC2 Areas not Registering Correctly

    I believe I have my Areas setup correctly (they were working in MVC1 fine). I followed the guide here: http://odetocode.com/Blogs/scott/archive/2009/10/13/asp-net-mvc2-preview-2-areas-and-routes.aspx I've also used Haacked's Route Debugger. Which shows the correct Area/Controller registration when I run it. However when I try to go to my (AreaName)/(Controller) I get this error: "The resource cannot be found." I believe this indicates there's a problem with the routing, but I'm having trouble debugging this. Where should I set my breakpoints to catch routing errors in MVC2? I'm also using SparkViewEngine compiled against MVC2 references. Could this possibly be causing this error? I've set breakpoints on the controller in the area and it never fires off, I assumed the view engine doesn't kick in until after the controller has been initiated, but I could be wrong. The non-area landing page works fine, and I've stripped my project of all areas except one, to avoid any sort of naming conflicts. Any ideas where I can try to look next?

    My iPhone app embeds a UIWebView which loads html via a custom NSProtocol handler I have registered. My problem is that resources referenced in the returned html, which are also loaded via my custom protocol handler, are cached and never reloaded. In particular, my stylesheet is cached: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css" /> The initial request to load the html in the UIWebView looks like this: NSString* strUrl = [NSMutableString stringWithFormat: @"myprotocol:///entry?id=%d", entryID ]; NSURL* url = [NSURL URLWithString: strUrl]; [_pCurrentWebView loadRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: url cachePolicy: NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData timeoutInterval: 60 ]]; (note the cache policy is set to ignore, and I've verified this cache policy carries through to subsequent requests for page resources on the initial load) The protocol handler loads the html from a database and returns it to the client using code like this: // create the response record NSURLResponse *response = [[NSURLResponse alloc] initWithURL: [request URL] MIMEType: mimeType expectedContentLength: -1 textEncodingName: textEncodingName]; // get a reference to the client so we can hand off the data id client = [self client]; // turn off caching for this response data [client URLProtocol: self didReceiveResponse:response cacheStoragePolicy: NSURLCacheStorageNotAllowed]; // set the data in the response to our jfif data [client URLProtocol: self didLoadData:data]; [data release]; (Note the response cache policy is "not allowed"). Any ideas how I can make it NOT cache my styles.css resource? I need to be able to dynamically alter the content of this resource on subsequent loads of html that references this file. I thought clearing the shared url cache would work, but it doesnt: [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] removeAllCachedResponses]; One thing that does work, but it's terribly inefficient, is to dynamically cache-bust the url for the stylesheet by adding a timestamp parameter: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css?ts=1234567890" /> To make this work I have to load my html from the db, search and replace the url for the stylesheet with a cache-busting parameter that changes on each request. I'd rather not do this. My presumption is that there is no problem if I were to load my content via the built-in HTTP protocol. In that case, I'm guessing that the UIWebView looks at any Cache-Control flags in the NSURLHTTPResponse object's http headers and abides by them. Since my NSURLResponseObject has no http headers (it's not http...) then perhaps UIWebView just decides to cached the resource (ignoring the NSURLRequest caching directive?). Ideas???

I starting switching them all over to use EventHandler and custom EventArgs but it is proving to be tedious and time consuming. Is there an easier way to handle a situation like this, when you have a huge number of events?

This content type is also bound to a module, but this module doesn't have any admin screens, all node creation is done through the standard cck interface. any ideas?   • angular custom directive required validation is not updated

    i created my own directive, replacing an input field with a custom made input field. However, the validation of the required field never seems to update and instead is always false. Other directives inside my directive like ng-class do work.
