• Getting an Ajax response from Zend Framework Controller

  I'm doing an Ajax request on one of my views to a Controller but I am unable to send back a response to the Ajax method. In the snippet below, I am trying to send the word 'hellopanda' back but in the alert message, I'll get data as an object. • Java deserialization speed

  I am writing a Java application that among other things needs to read a dictionary text file (each line is one word) and store it in a HashSet. Each time I start the application this same file is being read all over again (6 Megabytes unicode file). That seemed expensive, so I decided to serialize resulting HashSet and store it to a binary file. I expected my application to run faster after this. Instead it got slower: from ~2,5 seconds before to ~5 seconds after serialization. Is this expected result? I thought that in similar cases serialization should increase speed.

• What is the purpose of @ as part of a member name in C#?

  As you can imagine, Googling or Binging for any phrase containing an '@' is difficult. In creating a new web service, one of the members of the imported C# proxy class is prefixed with the @. For example: plan.@event = new Insurance.Event(); I assume that it is Visual Studio's way resolving potential conflicts with reserved words because 'event' is a reserved word. Changing the property in the web service interface to something other than 'event' (i.e. 'healthevent') removes the @ from the property. Is this a correct assumption?

Depending on the input, be it a certain number, a certain word, or something else, the respective method is called (in the case of a valid input) or the main menu is printed again (in the case of an invalid input or "no"). My questions are twofold. 1) Is there an efficient way to get rid of the literal string error that appears as a result of this redundant or statement on the elsif line? (the code itself works fine, but this error appears and is frustrating). 2) When an alternate/unspecified input is made by the user, the else branch doesn't execute and main_method doesn't start over. I have no idea why this is happening. Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks

• Visual Studio C++ adds "junk" to my programs

  I have looked into the binaries produced by MSVC 2010 from my source code, and saw everything being filled with "junk". I don't know how to explain, but my executables are being added too much unnecessary information, like: Lots of Microsoft default error messages, I don't want them XML schema settings (Why!?) Other things not important for the execution of the main program How can I stop MSVC doing this? Do I have to switch to GCC? In all other programs (written in C++ too, from Word processors to games), this junk simply doesn't exist.

  I'm a bit confused by the results of the following function: int main() { string command; while(1) { cin >> command; if(command == "end") return 0; else cout << "Could you repeat the command?" << endl; } return 0; } First of all - the output line ("could you...") repeats once for each individual word in the input (stored in command). So far as I can see, it should only be possible for it to happen once for each instance of the loop. Also, when the line 'if(command == "end")' is changed to 'if(command == "that's all")' it never triggers. A little testing suggested that all of the whitespace was removed from the command. Could someone explain to me what's going on here? Thanks

  I'm embarrassed to even ask BUT could someone help me understand what a "handler" is. I am new to jQuery and the API constantly has references similar to the following: toggle( handler(eventObject), handler(eventObject), [ handler(eventObject) ] ) I scratch my head and say to myself "what the hell is a handler". Then I check my 2 jquery books and don't really see anything specific there. I get what an event handler does, it handles an event. But the word handler in the above context confuses me including "eventObject". I tried to google it but could not really find a really clear definition of what exactly a handler is as it relates to jquery. Thanks for your help =]

The files are identical when these numbers are the same. What I heard is that they allow associative arrays by sending the array key through a hash function that converts it into an int and then uses a regular array. Am I right with that? I have 272 constructed just like this one that I need to convert to form the message in a mystery I'm trying to solve. Thanks!" It is very difficult to include all 272 strings with each one having 16 sets of 4! There wouldn't be enough room in this post for that, so I just put the first of the 272 strings. To hopefully clarify, this is a puzzle. The puzzler put his 272 word message in ASCII. Since there is no online converter, I put the question out hoping to get some help.

• Redmine on Apache2 with Passenger issue

  I installed Redmine and run it in Apache2 with the Passenger module. Apache2 boots, Passenger module gets loaded and the Redmine welcome page is shown, however when trying to login or navigate to other parts of the Redmine site, the browser keeps loading and loading and loading forever, although the Redmine production.log indicates redirects and HTTP 200 codes in the header, so everything seems to work correctly according to the log. I tested in various browsers. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? I will add apache configuration and some relevant log snippets from both apache and redmine hereafter.   Summary I'm attempting to create an AWS CloudFormation template which contains an instance for which I want to select a particular subnet. If I specify the subnet ID then I get the following error The parameter groupName cannot be used with the parameter subnet. From reading this thread it appears I need to provide security group IDs - not names. How can I create a security group in CloudFormation and then get its ID after the fact?   Installed Zabbix on Ubuntu but not sure what setting I missed. Base on my concept, I would like to using SNMP to monitoring DD-WRT router which it using SNMP service. I did enable to SNMP service at DD-WRT router page. And also created a host at Zabbix with included DD-WRT template. After I done it I still unable to get any connection/information at Zabbix which mean the router doesn't communicate with Zabbix.   Hi, i created a vps on vps.net and installed CentOS 5.4 x64 LAMP , i choosed the root password and the server start running, i added my domain name in the vps domain section, also i added the two name servers on where i bought the domain name. the problem is that i still can't access the domain, so i think that's because a mistake in the DNS template that is created automatically by the vps provider, here is it : TYPE | NAME | TARGET | MX PRIORITY | ACTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------- OA @ dns1.vps.net.   We have observed some puzzling behavior from the CAs we have set up in both the past and present. For some reason unknown to us, it seems that our CAs are randomly issuing "Basic EFS" certificates to our users. This is evident through the "Issued Certificates" log on the CA. I personally set up a CA yesterday, and the instant that I installed certificate services it started dishing out Basic EFS certs to our users. They seem to be issued at random times: 1:51am, 2:20am, then 7:54am, then 8:03am... etc I looked at the certificate template for Basic EFS and there isn't even an option for Autoenrollment, so I'm seriously in a state of "WTF?!"... Can anyone clue me in as to why my CA has a mind of its own? Do CAs tend to become self-aware and lash out at their owners? Please help...

• Icinga error "Icinga Startup Delay does not exist" although it does

  I just installed icinga to monitor my server following this guide: http://docs.icinga.org/0.8.1/en/wb_quickstart-idoutils.html Everything built and installed correctly, but icinga is reporting a critical error with the reason: "The command defined for service Icinga Startup Delay does not exist" However, I can see that ${ICINGA_BASE}/etc/objects/localhost.cfg contains: define service{ use local-service ; Name of service template to use host_name localhost service_description Icinga Startup Delay check_command check_icinga_startup_delay notifications_enabled 0 } and ${ICINGA_BASE}/etc/objects/commands.cfg contains: define command { command_name check_icinga_startup_delay command_line $USER1$/check_dummy 0 "Icinga started with $$(($EVENTSTARTTIME$-$PROCESSSTARTTIME$)) seconds delay | delay=$$(($EVENTSTARTTIME$-$PROCESSSTARTTIME$))" } both of these files had not been modified since the whole make/install process. I am running on Ubuntu 10.04, most recent build of icinga-core, and apache2 2.2.14 What must I do to tell Icinga that the command exists? Or is the problem that check_dummy does not exist? Where or how would I define that?

• Issue with resetting auto increment from default to big number

  I have a MySQL table naming Invoice for a Inventory Monitoring site, invoice_number is bigint(19) AUTO_INCREMENT field. Currently AUTO_INCREMENT value is 1. Client want it to start the invoice_number from 50000. With the following script reset the ALTER TABLE INVOICES AUTO_INCREMENT = 50000; When I wrote an Insert Script to insert data in SQLDBX, it is putting the invoice_number from 50000. But when i am trying to do insert a record using the application(web application), the invoice_number value is starting from 1. We are making use of Spring-JDBC template to insert data into mysql database.
