  Hi, I wonder about dynamically changing of class name in .NET application. For example WindowsForms10.SysTreeView32.app.0.19fd5c7. The last string "19fd5c7" would change, but I don't know what makes it changing. Is it the version, the GUI modification, environment, OS or what? Thanks.

• MySQL Query involving column names containing math operators

  I'm a MySQL scrub, and I have asked around and checked around the internet for what I'm sure will turn out to be something obvious, but I'm very frustrated with what I thought would be a very, very simple query not working. So here goes. Please be gentle. Basically, in a large database, some of the column names contain mathematical operators like "/" and "+." (Don't ask, it's not my database, I can't do anything about it). Here is the "essence" of my query (I took out the irrelevant stuff for the sake of this question): SELECT PlayerId, Season, WPA/LI AS WPALI FROM tht.stats_batting_master WHERE Season = "2010" AND teamid > 0 AND PA >= 502 GROUP BY playerid ORDER BY WPALI DESC When I run this, it returns "Unknown column 'LI' in 'field list'," I assume because it sees the "/" in WPA/LI as a division sign. Like I said, I'm sure this is easy enough to work around (it must be given how much this database is used), but I haven't' been able to figure out how. Thanks in advance for any help.

  I've got a variable list of associative arrays that I want to iterate through and retrieve their key/value pairs. I iterate through a single associative array by listing all its keys and getting the values, ie. for key in "${!queue1[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue1[$key]}" done The tricky part is that the names of the associative arrays are variable variables, e.g. given count = 5, the associative arrays would be named queue1, queue2, queue3, queue4, queue5. I'm trying to replace the sequence above based on a count, but so far every combination of parentheses and eval has not yielded much more then bad substitution errors. e.g below: for count in {1,2,3,4,5} do for key in "${!queue${count}[@]}" do echo "key : $key" echo "value : ${queue${count}[$key]}" done done Help would be very much appreciated!

  Hi I wanted to enroll in Apples iPhone developer program the problem is I myself don't own a credit card is it Ok if I use some one else's credit card to sign up... I mean will Apple pay the guy whose credit card I have used or can I specify my Account details for any future transactions & just use this credit card for paying Apple.   I am reading a .xls file and then procesing it inside and rewriting it in the end of my program. I was wondering if someone can help me to parse the dates as my input file name is like file_1_2010_03_03.csv and i want my outputfile to be newfile_2010_03_03.xls is there a way to incorporate in matlab program so i do not have to manually write the command xlswrite('newfile_2010_03_03.xls', M); everytime and change the dates as i input files with diff dates like file_2_2010_03_04.csv. • PHP/CSS issue, one account has a fine style, the other is weird

  Hello there, I am currently having the above issue, where on a CMS called phpVMS a CSS displaying front page works fine on the first account, but does not on any other user accounts. This only applies to the frontpage, and all of the tags seem to be closed. The top half of the picture is how it should display and how it displays for user GSM1001. The bottom half is for users GSM1002 upwards. I am really puzzled and I'd appreciate any suggestions. I am happy to post snippets of the code here or on jsFiddle if you require to see it. • Account for cancelling an update process

  I'm trying to develop the logic of updating my (Java) application but I'm stuck on a particular problem. The user can, at any time, be it on purpose (by clicking the Cancel button) or unwillingly (system/power failure) cancel the update process. If the updater was busy downloading files or unpacking files and thus didn't make any changes to the main application yet, this can be easily recovered by re-downloading the files and continuing the update process like normally. But, how can i account for changes made to the main application (i.e. a file was only partially replaced, some files were corrupted, etc.) that result in a main application that can't be launched anymore? Is it possible to rollback the changes made during the update without having to keep a full backup of my application or without doing a full reinstall? Are there any standards for updating an application that can help me with this?

• Running an app that requires an administrator account from a service

  Is it possible to run handle.exe (from sysinternals) from a service (in windows7) without having to turn off UAC? The service is a custom c-app that needs to find out which process is locking a file it tries to access and handle.exe seems to be a good way to solve it but i can't get it to work with UAC turned on. This app runs all the time so i can't have a UAC prompt while its running but its fine if it shows up at startup. Handle.exe works fine from an admin commandprompt but fails when trying to run from a normal prompt. I call handle.exe from CreateProcess() and get the output from pipes. I guess there should be a way to solve this but i can't figure it out. Setting up the service to log in from an admin account does not seem to work.

  I have a large directory tree of files, and am using the following script to list and replace a searched-for name with a specific file. Problem is, I don't know how to write the createList() for-loop correctly to account for whitespace in a directory name. If all directories don't have spaces, it works fine.   Is there an easy way to make Struts 2 action names case insensitive? Currently I have the following action defined: <action name="printTest" class="MyClass" > <result name="error">/WEB-INF/jsp/error.jsp</result> <result name="input">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> <result name="success">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> </action> If the user types URL "/app/printtest.do" instead of "/app/printtest.do" this action is not executed. Other then mod_rewrite on the httpd level or something like that, the only option that I know about right now is simply adding the same exact action and changing the name to "printtest". Ideally it would be a simple config change to struts.xml

• PHP - How do you secure a unique variable name?

  This function cropit, which I shamelessly stole off the internet, crops a 90x60 area from an existing image. In this code, when I use the function for more than one item (image) the one will display on top of the other (they come to occupy the same output space). I think this is because the function has the same (static) name ($dest) for the destination of the image when it's created (imagecopy). I tried, as you can see to include a second argument to the cropit function which would serve as the "name" of the $dest variable, but it didn't work. In the interest of full disclosure I have 22 hours of PHP experience (incidentally the same number of hours since the last I slept) and I am not that smart to begin with. • Host unavailable when user is logged off

  I am facing a problem that I discovered while I was implementing a small client/host application. The client side runs Windows 7 64-bit and machine never turns off but user is automatically logged off after 30 minutes of inactivity. When user is automatically logged off the host becomes unreachable, first I thought the problem was isolated to my application, but after som investigation I discoverd that resources and vnc server is also unavailable. The question might be a bit off limit for this forum but I can't find any reasonable explanation somewhere else. Does anyone know how I can keep user being logged off automatically but with the host still reachable on the network?

  I'm trying to write a small CONSOLE (not metro style) app to quickly change the user account image of the current user to a select image for a setup scrip that I'm running on a bunch of laptops. They're all Windows 8 and (since it hasn't been out terribly long) I can't find a ton of info on it. I did manage to figure out that you need to use the Windows.System.UserProfile object to do so, but I can't find any documentation on how to do so in a console app. Thoughts? Suggestions?

• How can people still be getting spam from a hotmail account that's been closed?

  My wife had an old hotmail account which she recently closed. Some people that she used to communicate with from that account have recently been receiving spam emails from this account. I don't see how this is possible because the account is closed. I considered that maybe the email address is being spoofed, is there a way I can tell from looking at the email headers or something? Or should I take this up with hotmail?

  As I understand it, Apple does not do currency exchanges when they pay the app developers, they just forward the 70% share in the currency the customers bought it. So, if an app is available in different markets, the developer receives payments in different currencies. Is there a way to enter one bank account for every currency? For example, I'd like to set up a bank account in EUR for payments in EUR, one in GBP for payments in GBP, and likewise for USD etc. If all payments are going to the same bank account, my bank charges high conversion rates every time a payment in a 'foreign' currency comes in.

• What are the pros and cons of non-unique display names?

  I know of at least big title game (Starcraft II) that doesn't require unique display names, so it would seem like it can work in at least some circumstance. Under what situations does allowing non-unique display names work well? When does it not work well? Does it come down to whether or not impersonation of someone else is a problem? The reasons I believe it works for Starcraft II is that there isn't any kind of in-game trading of virtual goods and other than "for kicks" there isn't much incentive to impersonate someone else in the game. There's also ladder rankings so even trying to impersonate a pro is easily detectable unless you're on a similar skill level. What are some other cases where it makes sense to specifically allow or disallow duplicate display names?

• Organisation GitHub account. Secure to use for personal projects?

  So a large client of mine gave me access to their Organisation GitHub account. With it came a login for myself (on github.companyname.com) and of course access to certain repos on their company account (by switching the user to the company via the button in the top left). Now I was wondering, since I can create private repos for myself, is it safe for me to use these for non-related projects or can the company administrators access my user's repos despite being private? My understanding of Github is limited as it is, so this extra layer of complexity from the organisation account isn't helping too much. Thanks,Mike
