• Run Dialog: Tab Key dont complete commands

  I like to use the Tab key to complete/skip commands/links in Shells/Browsers when typing. But when I hit the tab key in "Run Dialog" causes focus leave Text box, so i'm forced to leave home keys to use arrow keys. Is there a way change this behavior? Edit: I found here a flag that enables autocomplete in Run Dialog. This doesn't solve the question, but it helps when the command you want is the first option listed, because you just press enter instead of moving to arrow key and select the command. In my case this solves about 80% of cases.

• < key triggers sticky alt on Windows 7

  When using a code editor like Notepad++ or Eclipse I'm experiencing a rather annoying problem: each time I type the < key the keyboard latches into some unexpected mode whereby the subsequent keypress behaves as if the alt key were being held down. The only way to return to normal mode is to hit the escape key twice immediately after I type a < character. The keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 and the OS is Windows 7. Does anyone have any idea what I should do to stop this behaviour? Thanks

• ssh connection with full tab key support

  I have Ubuntu 10.04 installation. When I open terminal, tab key works fine e.g. i type "apt-get install mysql" then press tab and see all options. But when I connect via ssh - tab key works only before first space. So it will do nothing in above example. I tried connect with different clients (ssh, putty, etc), and always same behavior. My question is: how to make tab key work properly? Is problem in server or client?

  First, sorry if this question has already been asked/answered - I've searched but perhaps I haven't recognised the answer.... What we have is a cluster of servers which need to access a single remote server using sftp. We are migrating from one remote server to another at the same (remote) location. We also want to refresh the public/private key pairs on the configuration as part of an ongoing security review. My question is - can we have multiple public/private key pairs for the same user between server A and server B? I want to do this to allow for cutover testing - but am concerned that the software checking keys may only try one of each type (rsa/dsa?) before rejecting the connection method and moving to the next type of key. Hope it's a straightforward question - please let me know if I need to supply more details. Thanks in advance Bruce

• Key is not detected in xev neither showkey -k in Ubuntu 10.04 in a Virtualbox VM.

  My question mark key in my keyboard isn't working. ("?"). I've tried to use xev and showkey -k to try to identify at least it's code and manually use xmodmap to mao this key. Unfortunately, the keys aren't being detected in neither utilities. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 in a Virtual Machine, and my Kernel is 2.6.32-22-generic. What can this be? It's not a special multimedia key, it's a simple one. I would like to understand what exactly is happening so at least I can try to better debug this issue.

• Confused about encryption with public and private keys (which to use for encryption)

  I am making a licensing system when clients ask my server for a license and I send them a license if they are permitted to have one. On my current system I encrypt the license using a single private key and have the public key embedded into the client application that they use to decrypt the license. It works! Others have told me that I should be encrypting with the public key on the server and distributing the private key to clients. I have searched the web and can see that sometimes they use the private key to encrypt and other times they use the public key to encrypt. In this case what am I supposed to do?

  I'm trying to create a relationship between "tables" with Appengine/Python. Imagine I have a "table" for items, and a table for colors. I save the color of an item by saving the color key as an atribute of the item. That's working well, but this particular piece of code is not working: <select id="colorKey" name="colorKey"> {% for color in colors %} <option value="{{ color.key }}"{% if color.key = item.colorKey %} selected="selected"{% endif %}> {{ color.name }} - {{ item.colorKey }} - {{ color.key }} </option> {% endfor %} </select> Since the {{ item.colorKey }} and {{ color.key }} variables are actually the same chain of characters, I only can think in a problem with the types. {{ item.colorKey }} is a string for sure. But maybe {{ color.key }} is not?

More of than I need it to work under high loads and large amounts of data. Simplified I have 3 types of objects: Product Tag ProductTag Product: key - string key name - string .... - some other fields Tag: key - string key name - unique tag words ProductTag: product_key - foreign key referring to product tag_key - foreign key referring to tag rating - this is rating of tag for this product Each product may have 0 or many tags. Tag may be assigned to 1 or many products. Means relation between products and tags is many-to-many in terms of relational databases. Value of "rating" is updated "very" often. I need to be run the following queries Select objects by keys Select tags for product ordered by rating Select products by tag order by rating Update rating by product_key and tag_key The most important is to make these queries really fast on large amounts of data, considering that rating is constantly updated.

  I've seen lots of "de-duplicate this xml" questions but everyone wants the first node or the nodes are identical. I have a bit of a bigger puzzle. I have a list of articles in XML, a relevant snippet is shown: <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>100</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>130</stamp></item> <item><key>Article2</key><stamp>800</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>180</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>900</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>950</stamp></item> <item><key>Article4</key><stamp>990</stamp></item> <item><key>Article5</key><stamp>999</stamp></item> I'd like a list of nodes where the keys are unique and where the last instance is returned, not the first: Stamp (integer) is always increasing for elements of a particular key. Ideally I'd like "largest stamp" but they're always in order so the shortcut is ok. Desired result: (Order doesn't really matter.) <item><key>Article2</key><stamp>800</stamp></item> <item><key>Article1</key><stamp>180</stamp></item> <item><key>Article3</key><stamp>950</stamp></item> <item><key>Article4</key><stamp>990</stamp></item> <item><key>Article5</key><stamp>999</stamp></item> I'm somewhat confused on how to get this list.   Hi, I have a situation where I need to make some data available for reading by anyone from a specific device, where the data is pre-loaded on the device, but I cannot allow anyone to create their own device and populate it with their own data in the same format. I know this sounds a little crazy, but there is a good reason! I was planning to use Public Key cryptography, encrypting the data with a public key, but then publishing the private key to anyone who wants to read the data. However, after looking at the RSACryptoServiceProvider and how it works it looks like I cannot just publish the private key as the private key can be used to create the public key. Could someone confirm that suspicion, or give me some hints on how I might be able to make this work! Many Thanks.

  Hello, What I understand about RSA is that Alice can create a public and a private key combination, and then send the public key over to Bob. And then afterward Bob can encrypt something using the public key and Alice will use the public and private key combo to decrypt it. However, how can Alice encrypt something to be sent over to Bob? How would Bob decrypt it? I ask because I'm curious how when I log onto my banking site, my bank sends me data such as my online statements. How does my browser decrypt that information? I don't have the private key.

  I want to use encryption algorithm available in .Net Security namespace, however I am trying to understand how to generate the key, for example AES algorithm needs 256 bits, that 16 bytes key, and some initialization vector, which is also few bytes. Can I use any combination of values in my Key and IV? e.g. all zeros in Key and IV are valid or not? I know the detail of algorithm which does lots of xors, so zero wont serve any good, but are there any restrictions by these algorithms? Or Do I have to generate the key using some program and save it permanently somewhere?

The way I want it to work is: The installer is run in Administrative mode. A Registry key is created. A function (the one I need) queries the ACL from the key. If this function finds that the group 'Users' already has write access, nothing should be done. If not, it should add a new permission allowing write access to the 'Users' group.   Hello, I created an asymmetric key on one of my SQL servers (2008). I encrypted a password field and I am able to retrieve that password just fine on my development server. The issue comes into play where I need to move this data to a production server. Here is the code for the key that was created: CREATE MASTER KEY ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD='#########' CREATE ASYMMETRIC KEY UserEncryptionKey WITH ALGORITHM = RSA_2048 Now, when I run this on the production server, it creates the key just fine. However, when I run my sproc to get the password, it returns NULL. SQL: SELECT EncryptByAsymKey(AsymKey_ID('UserEncryptionKey'), Password ) FROM Users WHERE UserName = '######' Any thoughts on what I need to do to get the encrypted field to work on multiple SQL Servers?   I have a problem with my Google Maps API key. I get an alert saying "This web site needs a different Google Maps API key." When I prees OK to the alert the map are loading and working fine. The same problem is already posted: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1803327/google-maps-api-key-not-working I have tried to request the API key for both "http://www.domain.com" and "http://domain.com" but I still get the alert. When I follow the instructions from their FQA and use alert(window.location.host) I get www.domain.com but the api key generator will only accept the domain if the prefix is http:// Does anyone have a solution to this?

  I have created a label and a dropdownlist. The label has the dropdownlist as associated id. If I click on the label and then uses the mouse up or down the dropdownlist creates a postback for each click. This is quite anoying and doesn't happen if you click on the dropdownlist and uses key-up or key-down, or if you uses another browser than IE. Is it possibel to fix this, so you can use key-up and key-down without causing a postback, and first on the enter-key creates the postback (as it does if you click on the dropdownlist and not label)?

Anyhow, at the moment, I am not using an API key simply because (as far as I can remember) there was no mention of an API key when I was writing the code that calls this API. Should I go back and add an API key to the URL that loads the API? It seems to work fine without the key, so I don't have any particular incentive to do this.

• Why the Enter key in a Mac keyboard is mapped to Level?

  Just installing Ubuntu for the first time, glad to ditch Win 7. I have a KVM switch and also a Mac, hence I'm using a Mac keyboard (the full size alu one) Everything's pretty cool. First thing I wondered is why the numeric keypad doesn't work? Oh, I have to find the num lock key (which should default to on, sensibly, no?) which isn't labelled as such on a Mac keyboard. Ok no problem. Then for some reason the Enter key on the keypad doesn't work still. Check the keyboard layout (set to 'English UK Macintosh')... inspecting the layout the Enter key is mapped to something called 'Level' - WTF is 'Level'? Everything else about the keyboard works great ie the £ $ # @ " are all perfect, volume control works as expected... why this weird key mapping on the Enter key? More importantly... how do I change it to work as an Enter key ?

  I'm creating a window (JOptionPane), in response to a collision. However, if the player is holding a key down when the window pops up, the input doesn't trigger a key release when the key is released. I don't think you can just check it with a isRelease function in the input, since the input is kind of corrupt. Can you help me? The way I check if the key is down: if(input.isKeyDown(Input.KEY_A)&& TestLevel.isFighting == false){ if(owner.canMoveLeft){ position.x -= speed * delta; } } I am not handling the key release by myself, but if I check if the key is down it should work. But it doesn't.
