  • AJAX UpdatePanel.Visible Property not working with Javascript

    - by Ahmet Altun
    I have code below. I want to hide the update panel by using Javascript (without going to server) when the user clicks Hide button. Although javascript funciton seems to be working fine in debugging, it does not hide! <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" % <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function Show() { document.getElementById("UpdatePanel1").Visible = true; } function Hide() { document.getElementById("UpdatePanel1").Visible = false; } </script> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> </asp:ScriptManager> <asp:Button ID="btnShow" runat="server" Text="Show" OnClientClick="Show(); return false;" /> <asp:Button ID="BtnHide" runat="server" Text="Hide" OnClientClick="Hide(); return false;" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <br /> <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" TextMode="MultiLine"></asp:TextBox> <br /> <asp:Button ID="btnSubmit" runat="server" Text="Gönder" onclick="btnSubmit_Click" /> <br /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </form>

  • Loading Javascript through an AJAX load through jQuery??

    - by Jason Axelrod
    I have an javascript that I place into a page using the code below. What the code does is place an object/embed code into a webpage. Simple javascript loader to a NicoVideo movie <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ext.nicovideo.jp/thumb_watch/sm13154955?w=640&h=395"></script> This works great in a webpage. But what if I want to load this javascript into a page using AJAX? This no longer works for the obvious reasons, you would need to eval the script in order to get it to run. However, I have no idea how to do this. I am using jQuery on my page; so keep that in mind. I have tried the following code, but it doesn't seem to work through AJAX, or even in a normal page load environment. <script>$.getScript("http://ext.nicovideo.jp/thumb_watch/sm13154955?w=640&h=395");</script> Any ideas on how I would get this to work?

  • Passing Object From Controller to JavaScript JQuery

    - by TMan
    This is driving me crazy. All I'm trying to do is to pass in a Id to a ActionMethod which is working and have an Object be returned to the javascript. Then in javascript, I want to be able to say something like..Objec.Property, ie/ Student.Name, or Student.GPA. Any help is appreciated. I tried json but couldn't get that to work either. ActionResult: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] public Epic GetEpicPropertyDetails(int id) { var Epictemplist = epicRepository.Select().Where(x => x.Id.Equals(id)); return Epictemplist.SingleOrDefault(); } javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $(".ListBoxClass").click(function (event) { var selectedid = $(this).find("option:selected").val(); event.preventDefault(); $.get("/Estimate/GetEpicPropertyDetails", { id: selectedid }, function (result) { $(".TimeClass").val(result); }); }); }); </script> result.Name is obviously wrong I just dont know how to call this the right way.

  • Javascript function with PHP throwing a "Illegally Formed XML Syntax" error

    - by Joe
    I'm trying to learn some javascript and i'm having trouble figuring out why my code is incorrect (i'm sure i'm doing something wrong lol), but anyways I am trying to create a login page so that when the form is submitted javascript will call a function that checks if the login is in a mysql database and then checks the validity of the password for the user if they exist. however I am getting an error (Illegally Formed XML Syntax) i cannot resolve. I'm really confused, mostly because netbeans is saying it is a xml syntax error and i'm not using xml. here is the code in question: function validateLogin(login){ login.addEventListener("input", function() { $value = login.value; if (<?php //connect to mysql mysql_connect(host, user, pass) or die(mysql_error()); echo("<script type='text/javascript'>"); echo("alert('MYSQL Connected.');"); echo("</script>"); //select db mysql_select_db() or die(mysql_error()); echo("<script type='text/javascript'>"); echo("alert('MYSQL Database Selected.');"); echo("</script>"); //query $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM logins") or die(mysql_error()); //check results against given login while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ if($row[login] == $value){ echo("true"); exit(0); } } echo("false"); exit(0); ?>) { login.setCustomValidity("Invalid Login. Please Click 'Register' Below.") } else { login.setCustomValidity("") } }); } the code is in an external js file and the error throws on the last line. Also from reading i understand best practices is to not mix js and php so how would i got about separating them but maintaining the functionality i need? thanks!

  • Accessing C++ Functions From Text storage

    - by Undawned
    I'm wondering if anyone knows how to accomplish the following: Let's say I have a bunch of data stored in SQL, lets say one of the fields could be called funcName, function name would contain data similar to "myFunction" What I'm wondering is, is there a way I can than in turn extract the function name and actually call that function? There's a few ways I can think of to accomplish this, one is changing funcName to funcId and linking up with an array or similar, but I'm looking for something a bit more dynamic that would allow me to add the data on fly without having to update the actual source code every time I add a call to a new function assuming of course that the function already exists and is accessible via scope location we call it from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I just learned about C++ functions, can i use if statements onto functions?

    - by Sagistic
    What I am confused on is about the isNumPalindrome() function. It returns a boolean value of either true or false. How am I suppose to use that so I can display if its a palindrome or not. For ex. If (isNumPalindrome = true) cout "Your number is a palindrome" else "your number is not a palindrome." #include "stdafx.h" int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { return 0; } #include <iostream> #include <cmath> using namespace std; int askNumber(); bool isNumPalindrome(); int num, pwr; int main() { askNumber(); isNumPalindrome(); return 0; } bool isNumPalindrome() { int pwr = 0; if (num < 10) return true; else { while (num / static_cast<int>(pow(10.0, pwr)) >=10) pwr++; while (num >=10) { int tenTopwr = static_cast<int>(pow(10.0, pwr)); if ((num / tenTopwr) != (num% 10)) return false; else { num = num % tenTopwr; num = num / 10; pwr = pwr-2; } } return true; } } int askNumber() { cout << "Enter an integer in order to determine if it is a palindrome: " ; cin >> num; cout << endl; return num; }

  • Adding an additional click event to every element (JavaScript / jQuery)

    - by Gausie
    I'm developing a touchscreen application that, aside from everything else, records the amount of times the screen is used so that the user can be reminded to clean the screen after a predefined number of clicks. I've got the click functions written nicely, all I need now is make sure the function is called on a click. I imagine $('*').click(function() { //do something }); would accomplish my goal, but is that the best way? Also, would that overwrite other click functions assigned to the elements?

  • Safely defining variables for public callback functions in javascript

    - by djreed
    I am working with the YouTube iFrame API to embed a number of videos on a page. Documentation here: https://developers.google.com/youtube/iframe_api_reference#Requirements In summary, you load the API asynchronously using the following snippet: var tag = document.createElement('script'); tag.src = "http://www.youtube.com/player_api"; var firstScriptTag = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; firstScriptTag.parentNode.insertBefore(tag, firstScriptTag); Once loaded, the API fires the predefined callback function onYouTubePlayerAPIReady. For additional context: I am defining a library file for this in Google Closure. I am providing a namespace: goog.provide('yt.video'); I then use goog.exportSymbol so that the API can find the function. That all works fine. My challenge is that I would like to pass 2 variables to the callback function. Is there any way to do this without defining these 2 variables in the context of the window object? goog.provide('yt.video'); goog.require('goog.dom'); yt.video = function(videos, locales) { this.videos = videos; this.captionLocales = locales; this.init(); }; yt.video.prototype.init = function() { var tag = document.createElement('script'); tag.src = "http://www.youtube.com/player_api"; var firstScriptTag = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; firstScriptTag.parentNode.insertBefore(tag, firstScriptTag); }; /* * Callback function fired when YT API is ready * This is exported using goog.exportSymbol in another file and * is being fired by the API properly. */ yt.video.prototype.onPlayerReady = function(videos, locales) { window.console.log('this :' + this); //logs window window.console.log('this.videos : ' + this.videos); //logs undefined /* * Video settings from Django variable */ for(i=0; i<this.videos.length; i++) { var playerEvents = {}; var embedVars = {}; var el = this.videos[i].el; var playerVid = this.videos[i].vid; var playerWidth = this.videos[i].width; var playerHeight = this.videos[i].height; var captionLocales = this.videos[i].locales; if(this.videos[i].playerVars) var embedVars = this.videos[i].playerVars; } if(this.videos[i].events) { var playerEvents = this.videos[i].events; } /* * Show captions by default */ if(goog.array.indexOf(captionLocales, 'es') >= 0) { embedVars.cc_load_policy = 1; }; new YT.Player(el, { height: playerHeight, width: playerWidth, videoId: playerVid, events: playerEvents, playerVars: embedVars }); }; }; To intialize this, I am currently using the following within a self-executing anonymous function: var videos = [ {"vid": "video_id", "el": "player-1", "width": 640, "height": 390, "locales": ["es", "fr"], "events": {"onStateChange": stateChanged}}, {"vid": "video_id", "el": "player-2", "locales": ["es", "fr"], "width": 640, "height": 390} ]; var locales = ['es']; var videoTemplate = new yt.video(videos, locales);

  • ASP.NET javascript embed in template column

    - by Mahesh
    Hi, I am developing a web page in which a rad grid displays the list of exams. I included a template column which shows count down timer when the exam is going to expire. Code is as given below: <telerik:RadGrid ID="radGrid" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <MasterTableView> <Columns> <telerik:GridTemplateColumn HeaderText="template" DataField="Date"> <ItemTemplate> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> TargetDate = '<%# Eval("Date") %>'; BackColor = "white"; ForeColor = "black"; CountActive = true; CountStepper = -1; LeadingZero = true; DisplayFormat = "%%D%% Days, %%H%% Hours, %%M%% Minutes, %%S%% Seconds."; FinishMessage = "It is finally here!"; </script> <script language="JavaScript" src="http://scripts.hashemian.com/js/countdown.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </ItemTemplate> </telerik:GridTemplateColumn> </Columns> </MasterTableView> </telerik:RadGrid> I am giving DataTable as datasource to this grid. But my problem is , the template column is showing data only for the first record and the value taken is from the last row in the DataTable. For Ex: If I give data as given below, I can see 3 records but with only the first record displaying the counter with last value(10/10/2010 05:43 PM). 02/02/2011 01:00 AM 08/09/2010 11:00 PM 10/10/2010 05:43 PM Could you please help in this?? • Delay PHP execution until JavaScript cookie set?

    - by Adam184
    I am trying to delay PHP execution until a cookie is set through JavaScript. The code is below, I trimmed the createCookie JavaScript function for simplicity (I've tested the function itself and it works). <?php if(!isset($_COOKIE["test"])) { ?> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { // createCookie script createCookie("test", 1, 3600); }); </script> <?php // Reload the page to ensure cookie was set if(!isset($_COOKIE["test"])) { header("Location: http://localhost/asdf.php/"); } } ?> At first I had no idea why this didn't work, however after using microtime() I figured out that the PHP after the <script> was executing before the jQuery ready function. I reduced my code significantly to show a simple version that is answerable, I am well aware that I am able to use setcookie() in PHP, the requirements for the cookie are client-side. I understand mixing PHP and JavaScript is incorrect, but any help on how to make this work (is there a PHP delay? - I tried sleep(), didn't work and didn't think it would work, since the scripts would be delayed as well) would be greatly appreciated.

  • Overriding CSS style 'display:none' in javascript

    - by jsarma
    I'm trying to add a checkbox toggle that hides and shows list elements by changing their style display attribute from "none" to "inline", but it's not working. I'm setting the attribute's style to "display:none" in the CSS file. Then I set it to "display:inline" in javascript when someone checks a box. The javascript is successfully changing the element's property to inline, but for some reason the element remains invisible. If I do the opposite, by setting the display to inline in the CSS and overriding it to none in the javascript, it works fine. I don't see why this would work one way but not the other. I'm using chrome. Here is the code. Any feedback is appreciated. CSS file: #tabmenu li[status='disabled'] a, a.active, #disabled { color: #777777; background: #DDDDDD; font: normal 1em Arial; border: 1px solid black; border-radius: inherit; padding: 0px 5px 0px 5px; margin: 0px; text-decoration: none; cursor:hand; display:none; } HTML: <ul id="tabmenu"> <li name='tab' id='tab1' selected='no' status='disabled'></li> </ul> JAVASCRIPT (from command line, or onchange of a checkbox) tab = document.getElementById('tab1'); tab.style.display = 'inline';

    function createXMLHTTP() { xmlhttp = =new XMLHttpRequest(); return xmlhttp; } I'm trying to create 3 instances of this, but it all has the same variable name which is xmlhttp. How can I dynamically create different variable names? I'm not sure if that's the right way to ask the question. I want to create like xmlhttp1, xmlhttp2, xmlhttp3, so then I can reference each one.

  • When to pass pointers in functions?

    - by yCalleecharan
    scenario 1 Say my function declaration looks like this: void f(long double k[], long double y[], long double A, long double B) { k[0] = A * B; k[1] = A * y[1]; return; } where k and y are arrays, and A and B are numerical values that don't change. My calling function is f(k1, ya, A, B); Now, the function f is only modifying the array "k" or actually elements in the array k1 in the calling function. We see that A and B are numerical values that don't change values when f is called. scenario 2 If I use pointers on A and B, I have, the function declaration as void f(long double k[], long double y[], long double *A, long double *B) { k[0] = *A * *B; k[1] = *A * y[1]; return; } and the calling function is modified as f(k1, ya, &A, &B); I have two questions: Both scenarios 1 and 2 will work. In my opinion, scenario 1 is good when values A and B are not being modified by the function f while scenario 2 (passing A and B as pointers) is applicable when the function f is actually changing values of A and B due to some other operation like *A = *B + 2 in the function declaration. Am I thinking right? Both scenarios are can used equally only when A and B are not being changed in f. Am I right? Thanks a lot...

  • Convert from c# function to javascript function

    - by socheata
    I have a function in c# that used to manipulate the string, It works well while I used in C#. Now I want to convert this function to use in javascript. This is the function in c#: public static string TrimString(string str, int lenght) { string _str = str; int _iAdditionalLenght = 0; for (int i = lenght; i < str.Length; i++) { if (_str.Substring(i, 1) == " ") break; _iAdditionalLenght++; } return str.Substring(0, str.Length < (lenght + _iAdditionalLenght) ? str.Length : (lenght + _iAdditionalLenght)); } I converted it to javascript : function TrimString(str, lengthStr) { //this is my testing 4 var _str = str; var _iAdditionalLenght = 0; for (var i = lengthStr; i < str.length; i++) { if (_str.substring(i, 1) == " ") break; _iAdditionalLenght++; } return str.substring(0, str.length < (lengthStr + _iAdditionalLenght) ? str.length : (lengthStr + _iAdditionalLenght)); } But the javascript doesn't work. Could anyone tell me, how could I do it in javascript function? Thanks you so much.
