• Performance problem loading lots of user controls

  My application is loading a bunch of the same user control into a ScrollPanel. The problem is, this is very slow. The profiler show that the method Application.LoadComponent(), which is called internally by in the designer code in the constructor of my user control, is the bottleneck. The documentation of this method says, that this method load XAML files. I alway though the compiler compiles XAML to BAML and embedds it into the assembly. So the question is, how can I use BAML instead of XAML? Is there another way to make loading my user controls faster?

  Hey. I have seen many apps that load data to UITableViews from the internet, and they usually load smoothly. Now it's my turn to load in that kind of data. I am getting different data at the same time, separating categories with ~ and pieces of categories with #. This works great, and I have managed to separate the data in obj-c perfectly. Everything in my app works, it's just that the loading takes a lot of time. So, I guess the real question is, how can you load in data for a tableView in the background, showing a label/UIActivityView or something while it is loading? Thank you.

• Loading HTML5 video on iPad via onclick event tied to a div

  I'm developing an HTML5 application (a game), that automatically preloads 5 video files. I'm able to do so correctly on Safari for PC, so there are no overlooked problems with file formats, codecs or such. The load fails on an iPad. As an official guide for video on iOS puts it: This means the JavaScript play() and load() methods are also inactive until the user initiates playback, unless the play() or load() method is triggered by user action. In other words, a user-initiated Play button works, but an onLoad="play()" event does not. Does this mean, that I have no means to initiate the loading of video after a user initiated action, if that action hasn't been tied to a video element (user clicked on a regular div — I request loading and displaying of a video, compared to the user actually clicking on a video element to load and play that particular element)? • can you use jquery lazyload on all images (not just ones out of view)

  i have a webpage with a lot of images (photo album). I am using lazyloading jquery plugin which is great to only load the images out of browser view when i scroll down. The one issue i have is that i want the loading icon to show up first on images loading IN the current view as well as some of them are big images and they show up with that bad browser "image not loaded yet" icon until they download. I don't see any property on this plugin to support this for both in view and for scrolling. does anyone know if this is possible?

  I am trying to modify a number of environmental variables containing predefined compiler flags. To do so, I tried using a bash loop that goes over all environmental variables listed with "env". for i in $(env | grep ipo | awk 'BEGIN {FS="="} ; { print $1 } ' ) do echo $(sed -e "s/-ipo/ / ; s/-axAVX/ /" <<< $i) done This is not working since the loop variable $i contains just the name of the environmental variable stored as a character string. I tried searching a method to convert a string into a variable but things started becoming unnecessary complicated. The basic problem is how to properly supply the environmental variable itself to sed. Any ideas how to properly modify my script are welcome. Thanks, Alex

  I try to refer to an array in the Game1 class by creating an object of the Game1 class with its definition Game1 gameObject; , its declaration gameObject = new Game1(); in the constructor, and its usage gameObject.tileArray[xInt, yInt].treed = true;. The game1 class itself remains unchanged in its class code other than some methods and variables. When I try to use this code in the TreeRegion class it gives me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object," leading me to believe that the game1 class is null somehow. How might one change the class or object in order to refer to game1's variables? Mind you I am self-taught and still rather new to C#. But I want to change some values in the HTML (or PHP if it works by using $_REQUEST/$_GET), for example, I have a table with some text in it and I want to change this text from an NSString etc. How would I go about this?

As you can see below what i mean class Controller: def __init__(self): self.model = Model() self.view = View() def main(self): data = self.model.filename() self.view.tcpdump(data) class View: def tcpdump(self, command): subprocess.call(command.split(), shell=False) When i run my code i get this error: subprocess.call(command.split(), shell=False) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'split' My guess means that its not picking up command (look at source for reference) or that its not getting command with variables. But i know the error when variables are not being picked up so i don't think it is that. My question is, from what i have thus far, how do i from "class view" grab "command" for my subprocesses to run. Thanks~ John Riselvato

  I recently switched to Linux and wanted to compile my Visual Studio 2010 C++ source code, which uses only the STL, on G++. My Linux machine currently isn't available but I can try to tell you what is going on, first: As I try to compile my project, all global variables I use in main and which perfectly work on MSVC result in myGlobalVar is not defined in this scope errors. This is what I get when I execute show variables like 'char%': character_set_client utf8 character_set_connection utf8 character_set_database utf8 character_set_results utf8 character_set_server utf8 character_set_system utf8 character_sets_dir /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ I wonder why this is happening.   I'm implementing a plug-in that's embeddable in different sites (a la Meebo, Wibiya), and I want to use jQuery. Problem is, the site I'm embedding to, may already have a jQuery script loaded. The question is, what's the best approach for this kind of problem: Should I just check if jQuery is already loaded and if so, use the original site's jQuery, otherwise load it myself? If I use this approach, am I not risking comaptibility problems (i.e. the site uses an old version of jQuery)? Should I load jQuery myself (whether it's already loaded or not) and call "jQuery.noConflict(true)" when it's finished loading? If so, how can I make sure that my jQuery has finished loading (hooking to the onLoad event doesn't seem to work all the time, and polling for "jQuery" won't work for obvious reasons)? Should I do something else? Thanks.

  i'm having a problem loading an image from a package i created in the project that was set to contain images, i have to write the whole picture location in the computer instead of just the package that contains it. i've tried several things but nothing seams to work... where is the command i use to load the image : searchBar = ImageIO.read(new File("C:\\Users\\ASUS\\Documents\\NetBeansProjects\\Project\\src\\Images\\search.jpg")); "Images" is a package in my project , this works, but when i try loading the image without the "C:\..." only with the "\Images..." it doesn't , so i have to change it every time i open this project in another computer. hopefully one of u has the answer for me , thanks in advance for any answer :)

In my CreateChildControls function, I built a big table with lots of field. I need to create a lot of TableRow and TableCell to construct the table. But these are not field or property of control. Thery are local variables in the function, which are created dynamically. Should I make these TableCells and TableRows as fields of the control?   If I have variables a, b, an c of type double, let c:=a/b, and give a and b values of 7 and 10, then c's value of 0.7 registers as being LESS THAN 0.70. On the other hand, if the variables are all type extended, then c's value of 0.7 does not register as being less than 0.70. This seems strange. What information am I missing?
