  • User Account Control warning showed everytime I run an installed program

    - by Bronzato
I just installed Windows 8 on my computer. Next I installed a program for prototyping (Pencil). Everytime I run this program I have the following Warning: User Account Control Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? I prefer not disable the User Account Control. Is there a way to stop User Account to warn me for this program? Thanks.

    - by Xolve
I have a computer on LAN running ssh. I can normally tunnel the GUI application using ssh computer-name -X program-name But I wam my full desktop to be running on a remote computer using ssh so that I can just use that computer remotely like a local desktop. For this I think I will need to run KDM (or GDM ) remotely, what configuration do I need to do to make this happen?

  • How to run sandboxed web browser with extensions

    - by Nrew
I followed the steps here on how to create a sandboxed web browser using Sandboxie. So that you won't have to right-click a shortcut everytime and choose run sandboxed. And so that I could set a keyboard shortcut for the sandboxed web browser. I am using Iron browser, but when I try to execute the shortcut created by sandboxie. It doesn't have extensions in it. What do I do in order to load the extensions along with the browser

Hi! I was wandering if it's possible to run an Ubuntu virtual machine using VirtualBox in background, I mean, without any window open. The idea is to conect via SSH to the linux host, that would be running in background. Have you ever done somenthing like this? Is it possible? Thanks!

  • Run a completly hidden batch file

    - by Moayad Mardini
I'm looking for some way to run a batch file (.bat) without anything visible to the user (no window, no taskbar name, .etc..). I don't want to use some program to do that, I'm looking for something cleaner. I've found a solution that uses VBScript, but I don't really like using VBS, either.

  • What's the difference between Defaults and Properties when changing cmd.exe or PowerShell's settings?

    - by mmm bacon
I want to change the font used by both cmd.exe and PowerShell. When I right click in the window border, I see both Defaults and Properties: What's the difference? One would think Defaults was for all sessions, and Properties was for the current session. However, changes to Properties are persisted even after relaunching cmd.exe. Another problem is that changing the font in either Defaults or Properties doesn't actually change the font. This is on Windows 8.

  • How to run open dns on a network

    - by user37652
I need to be enlightened in this topic. First, is it possible to run open dns on a network so that you won't have to install the open dns updater to update the ip address of those machines with dynamic ip address. Second, how do I set it up. Can I set it up on the router?

  • Run an application only compatible with 32-bit on 64-bit machine

    - by Glenn
Title's pretty explanatory. I have an application(Second Life) that isn't compatible with 64-bit windows 7. It says that it is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 but only the 32-bit version of 7. I need to know if it's possible for me to download something to make the application compatible with my computer. I've run troubleshooters and ran it as windows compatible XP service pack 2 and tried again with service pack 3.

  • CMAK Custom Action to run synchronous executable

    - by Charles Gargent
I am using the Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) to create vpn connections for my users, if it is possible how do I create a custom action that launches an executable that runs synchronously? In the help file it says Only DLLs run synchronously, meaning that Connection Manager starts the action and then waits for the function to return before continuing Is there any way around this? I have seen something similar called VPN-Q which from the screen shots appear to do just that.

  • When does `cron.daily` run?

    - by warren
When do entries in cron.daily (and .weekly and .hourly) run, and is it configurable? I haven't found a definitive answer to this, and am hoping there is one. I'm running RHEL5 and CentOS 4, but for other distros/platforms would be great, too.

  • How do I prevent ConEmu auto-attaching to every single cmd.exe?

    - by naxa
I don't want ConEmu to attach to every cmd I open, but this is how it works now. I remember that I told ConEmu to do this, but I don't want it anymore. Maybe I just overlooked something, but I've read all the settings pages and I couldn't find an option to disable it. Am I missing something? How do I prevent ConEmu from attaching every single cmd.exe I open? My ConEmu version is 121109 x86, on winXPproSp3x86.

  • ~/.profile does not run on startup

    - by pocoa
I want to run some scripts at system startup, so in ~/.profile file, I've added: WORKSPACE="~/Development/workspace" alias workspace="cd $WORKSPACE" So I want this "workspace" alias to be available after the startup. Maybe it's not the right place to define these variables.

  • Run WMIC command across network

    - by C-dizzle
Instead of typing this in a command prompt one at a time: wmic /node:ipaddress /user:administrator /password:mypassword bios get serialnumber How can I run that against one entire subnet and output to a text document? Since I do this every couple months to verify our inventory of computers, I would assume there would be a much of easier way I could put this in a batch script instead of doing it manually.
