  I'm using the Logging Application Block in my ASP.NET application and want to convert the application to a Sharepoint WebPart. Is there a simple way to disable all logging for now? Removing the logging is problematic as it's used in the underlying libraries. I have tried setting all switchValue="All" to "Off" but it still throws the exception even though nothing should be logged

  I am getting a NoSuchMethodError error for org.w3c.dom.Document.setDocumentURI. This is strange, as I have rt.jar in the JAVA_HOME path. • Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)

  I am trying to debug the android source using Eclipse by following the instructions found at: http://source.android.com/using-eclipse I have downloaded the source, and gotten it to build. I follow the directions in the link above and everything is fine until I run the ddms command. At this point, if Eclipse is running I get the error 'Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)'. If I close Eclipse, then ddms runs with no problem, and I can the the processes on the emulator. However, if I now open Eclipse, I get the same error. In any case, no matter what I do, if I attempt to remote debug, it always fails with 'Failed to connect to remote VM'. Any ideas? Thanks

• Shared Cookies between WebView and HTTPClient?

  An Android app I am building requires web authentication for users to make data calls. In Adobe AIR and later the iPhone, we did this by rendering a login page in a webview-equivalent page and setting a cookie when the user signs in. Subsequent data calls use the same Cookie Jar and so are seen as authenticated. In the Android version, I authenticate the user using a WebView and then once thats done, I make a data call using DefaultHttpClient, however I cant seem to load the data on the second call. Is there some cookie gotcha I am missing? I imagine the HTTPClient and WebView would share the same Cookie space. Am I wrong?

  Not sure why i get that, I downloaded libs from here and while I have a lib called 'libboost_regex-vc90-mt-gd-1_39.lib I don't have one which is called 'libboost_regex-vc100-mt-gd-1_39.lib', renaming the one with vc90 to vc100 works but I'm not sure if this is the ideal solution?

I tried to compile without including that lib, it compiles without any error, but when I launch my program, it crashes with a fatal error.   I have an application using the SentientUser gem to provide the current user to my models. On top of that I'm using default scoping to ensure that a user can only ever access data that they own.   Really? Exadata, ACFS and 10gR2? If you work with Exadata you are probably aware that ACFS has not been supported - until now! ACFS is now supported on Exadata if you are running Grid Infrastructure version 12.1.0.2 or later. This new support is described in MOS note 1326938.1. Also Exadata support for ACFS is mentioned in MOS note 888828.1, which is the king of all Exadata notes on MOS. The upshot is that you can now run Oracle Database 10gR2 on Exadata using ACFS as the storage for the Oracle Database. Don’t Over React and just Throw Everything on ACFS!First, let’s be clear that ACFS is not an alternative for running your Exadata databases on ASM. If you are running any production or non-production performance sensitive Oracle databases on 11.2 or 12.1, then you should be running them on ASM disks that are associated with the storage cells. The use case for ACFS is generally limited to the following: Running any Oracle 10gR2 databases on Exadata. Running Oracle 11gR2 development or test databases that require rapid cloning, and that do not require the performance benefits of the Exadata storage cells. If you are running Oracle Database 12c and you need snapshot/clone kinds of capabilities, then you should be using Oracle MultiTennant and the features present in that option (remember though that MultiTennant is a licensed option). The Fine PrintThere are some requirements that you will need to meet If you are going to run ACFS on Exadata. These are: You have to use Oracle Linux You must use GI 12.1.0.2 or later If you wish to use HCC then you must apply the fix for bug 19136936 to your system. This bug, and it’s associated patch do not appear on MOS (as of the time that I wrote this) so you will need to open an SR and get support to provide the patch for you. The Best Use Case for ACFSEven though Oracle Database 10gR2 is at end of life, it remains in use in a large number of places. This has caused problems when choosing to implement Exadata as a consolidation platform, or when choosing it during a hardware refresh process. Now that ACFS is supported, Exadata has become even more flexible and affords customers greater flexibility when migrating to Exadata and Engineered Systems. While all of the features of Exadata might not be available to a 10.2.0.4 database, certainly just the improved processing capabilities of Exadata with its fast as heck infiniband network fabric, additional memory, reduced power requirements and a whole host of other features, justifies moving these databases to Exadata now. This will also make it easier to upgrade these databases when the time comes!

  I am validating input to my ASP.NET application using StringLengthValidators, and using the ValidationSummary control to display the error messages. To localize the application, the StringLengthValidators have the MessageTemplateResourceName and MessageTemplateResourceType attributes set. The first time the validator runs, it picks up the correct error message based on the current culture setting. If I change the language setting while running the app, the next time the validator runs, the ValidationSummary it still displays the error message for the old culture. The text for all other controls is being updated correctly. Any ideas, folks?

  I'm currently setting up WSS 3.0 at my work, and I'm in the finance section of it. My question is, is there a possibility to encrypt and decrypt lists? And I mean entire lists, because the document libraries will have different types of files in it, from Word to Invoices in InfoPath. I know there is a solution in CodePlex called CryptoCollaboration, but whenever I deploy the solution in SharePoint I get a server error. Any alternatives?
