Universal control - simple question about dock and anchor

I use Visual Studio .NET to develop internal applications. I create a Windows control that will display custom status bar information. Different developers will use the control to display the same information in many different applications. The control must always be displayed at the bottom of the parent form in every application. It must always be as wide as the form. When the form is resized, the control should be resized and repositioned accordingly. How should I do that in the best way and why? A)Create a property to allow the developers to set the Dock property of the control. Set the default value of the property to AnchorStyle.Bottom. B) Create a property to allow the developer to set the Anchor property of the control. Set the default value of the property to AnchorStyle.Bottom.

PostgreSQL function to iterate through/act on many rows with state

I have a database with columns looking like: session | order | atype | amt --------+-------+-------+----- 1 | 0 | ADD | 10 1 | 1 | ADD | 20 1 | 2 | SET | 35 1 | 3 | ADD | 10 2 | 0 | SET | 30 2 | 1 | ADD | 20 2 | 2 | SET | 55 It represents actions happening. Each session starts at 0. ADD adds an amount, while SET sets it. I want a function to return the end value of a session, e.g. SELECT session_val(1); --returns 45 SELECT session_val(2); --returns 55 Is it possible to write such a function/query? I don't know how to do any iteration-like things with SQL, or if it's possible at all.

Is there unresizable space in latex? Pictures in good looking grid.

I've created latex macro to typeset guitar chords diagrams(using picture environment). Now I want to make diagrams of different appear in good looking grid when typeset one next to each other as the picture shows: The picture. (on the picture: Labeled "First" bad layout of diagrams, labeled "Second" correct layout when equal number of diagrams in line) I'm using \hspace to make some skips between diagrams, otherwise they would be too near to each other. As you can see in second case when latex arrange pictures in so that there is same number of them in each line it works. However if there is less pictures in the last line they become "shifted" to the right. I don't want this. I guess is because latex makes the space between diagrams in first line a little longer for the line to exactly fit the page width. How do I tell latex not to resize spaces created by \hspace ? Or is there any other way ? I guess I cannot use tables because I don't know how many diagrams will fit in one line... java setting resolution and print size for an Image

I wrote a program that generates a BufferedImage to be displayed on the screen and then printed. Part of the image includes grid lines that are 1 pixel wide. That is, the line is 1 pixel, with about 10 pixels between lines. Because of screen resolution, the image is displayed much bigger than that, with several pixels for each line. I'd like to draw it smaller, but when I scale the image (either by using Image.getScaledInstance or Graphics2D.scale), I lose significant amounts of detail. I'd like to print the image as well, and am dealing with the same problem. In that case, I am using this code to set the resolution: HashPrintRequestAttributeSet set = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet(); PrinterResolution pr = new PrinterResolution(250, 250, ResolutionSyntax.DPI); set.add(pr); job.print(set); which works to make the image smaller without losing detail. But the problem is that the image is cut off at the same boundary as if I hadn't set the resolution. I'm also confused because I expected a larger number of DPI to make a smaller image, but it's working the other way. I'm using java 1.6 on Windows 7 with eclipse.

How do I execute queries upon DB connection in Rails?

I have certain initializing functions that I use to set up audit logging on the DB server side (ie, not rails) in PostgreSQL. At least one has to be issued (setting the current user) before inserting data into or updating any of the audited tables, or else the whole query will fail spectacularly. I can easily call these every time before running any save operation in the code, but DRY makes me think I should have the code repeated in as few places as possible, particularly since this diverges greatly from the ideal of database agnosticism. Currently I'm attempting to override ActiveRecord::Base.establish_connection in an initializer to set it up so that the queries are run as soon as I connect automatically, but it doesn't behave as I expect it to. However, the code never seems to get called, because any attempt to run a save or an update on a database object fails as I predicted earlier. If this isn't a proper way to execute code immediately on connection to the database, then what is?

I want to create an img that has four different states: State 1 over State 1 out State 2 over State 2 out Each state is a different image, and the user can toggle between states 1 and 2 by clicking on the image. To do this I change the src when the image is clicked and the onmouseover and onmouseout attributes of the img element. However when the attributes have been changed they become nulled and do nothing. How can I dynamically change these properties? Reduce file size for charts pasted from excel into word

I have been creating reports by copying some charts and data from an excel document into a word document. I am pasting into a content control, so i use ChartObject.CopyPicture in excel and ContentControl.Range.Paste in word. Next cc End With Creating these reports using Office 2007 yielded files that were around 6MB, but creating them (using the same worksheet and document) in Office 2010 yields a file that is around 10 times as large. After unzipping the docx, I found that the extra size comes from emf files that correspond to charts that are pasted in using VBA. Where they range from 360 to 900 KB before, they are 5-18 MB. And the graphics are not visibly better. I am able to CopyPicture with the format xlBitmap, and while that is somewhat smaller, it is larger than the emf generated by Office 2007 and noticeably poorer quality. Are there any other options for reducing the file size? Ideally, I would like to produce a file with the same resolution for the charts as I did using Office 2007. Is there any way that uses VBA only (without modifying the charts in the spreadsheet)?

I frequently have classes like: public class Example<T> where T: BaseClass { public int a {get; set;} public List<T> mylist {get; set;} } Lets say BaseClass is as follows; public BaseClass { public int num; } I then want a method of say: public int MyArbitarySumMethod(Example example)//This won't compile Example not closed { int sum = 0; foreach(BaseClass i in example.myList)//myList being infered as an IEnumerable sum += i.num; sum = sum * example.a; return sum; } I then have to write an interface just to pass this one class as a parameter as follows: public interface IExample { public int a {get; set;} public IEnumerable<BaseClass> myIEnum {get;} } The generic class then has to be modified to: public class Example<T>: IExample where T: BaseClass { public int a {get; set;} public List<T> mylist {get; set;} public IEnumerable<BaseClass> myIEnum {get {return myList;} } } That's a lot of ceremony for what I would have thought the compiler could infer. Even if something can't be changed I find it psychologically very helpful if I know the reasons / justifications for the absence of Syntax short cuts.

Concatenating a Text in front of Individual Database Records with Tcl

For example, if SrchVals1 shows the following records in the combobox: First Title Second Title Third Title I would like to concatenate so that the records in the combobox look like this: Sub: First Title Sub: Second Title Sub: Third Title I understand that I might have to use a foreach statement; however, I am having no luck writing one that adds "Sub: " in front of each record, as opposed to one. What would be a better implementation of shared variable among subclass

So currently I have a spring unit testing application. And it requires me to get a session cookie from a foreign authentication source. Problem what that is, this authentication process is fairly expensive and time consuming, and I am trying to create a structure where I am authenticate once, by any subclass, and any subsequent subclass is created, it will reuse this session cookie without hitting the authentication process again. My problem right now is, the static cookie is null each time another subclass is created. And I been reading that using static as a global variable is a bad idea, but I couldn't think of another way to do this because of Spring framework setting things during run time and how I would set the cookie so that all other classes can use it. Another piece of information. The variable is being use, but is change able during run time. It is not a single user being signed in and used across the board. But more like a Sub1 would call login, and we have a cookie. Then multiple test will be using that login until SubX will come in and say, I am using different credential, so I need to login as something else. And repeats. I wrote a sparse vector class (see #1, #2.) I would like to provide two kinds of iterators: The first set, the regular iterators, can point any element, whether set or unset. If they are read from, they return either the set value or value_type(), if they are written to, they create the element and return the lvalue reference. Thus, they are: Random Access Traversal Iterator and Readable and Writable Iterator The second set, the sparse iterators, iterate over only the set elements. Since they don't need to lazily create elements that are written to, they are: Random Access Traversal Iterator and Readable and Writable and Lvalue Iterator I also need const versions of both, which are not writable. I can fill in the blanks, but not sure how to use boost::iterator_adaptor to start out. What C# container is most resource-efficient for existence for only one operation?

I find myself often with a situation where I need to perform an operation on a set of properties. The operation can be anything from checking if a particular property matches anything in the set to a single iteration of actions. Sometimes the set is dynamically generated when the function is called, some built with a simple LINQ statement, other times it is a hard-coded set that will always remain the same. But one constant always exists: the set only exists for one single operation and has no use before or after it. My problem is, I have so many points in my application where this is necessary, but I appear to be very, very inconsistent in how I store these sets. Some of them are arrays, some are lists, and just now I've found a couple linked lists. Now, none of the operations I'm specifically concerned about have to care about indices, container size, order, or any other functionality that is bestowed by any of the individual container types. I picked resource efficiency because it's a better idea than flipping coins. I figured, since array size is configured and it's a very elementary container, that might be my best choice, but I figure it is a better idea to ask around. Alternatively, if there's a better choice not out of resource-efficiency but strictly as being a better choice for this kind of situation, that would be nice as well.
