  Hi, Need Advice which sharing hosting will run Magento Community fast or some other not expensive solution. This website will not have a lot of users, I only need that it will run fast for 100-20 users in same time. The problem with magento is database design that make this system very slow , also other staff not the best. I had hostmonster.com and justhost.com for previous website but it wasn't fast enough for single user that not located in USA (my customer areas: Asia, Africa). each action that involve database takes a lot of time. • Mail server responds with Error 500 line too long

  I am occasionally receiving error messages from mail servers with the above message. It seems that at least one line in the e-mail has more than 999 characters and therefore the e-mail is bounced. Is this "by design"? in an RFC? Or some weird pseudo-spam-filter? Or just a bad mailserver? I googled around a bit but did not find a competent answer. Hopefully one of you guys can enlighten me.

• What proportion of DBA skills are platform-independent?

  Problem: we've grown to the point where we need a real DBA. Real DBAs are hard to find. Possible solution: I know someone with extensive experience (currently working on MSSQL) who is looking for a new DBA job. He might be willing to consider working for a MySQL shop (I haven't asked). Snag: I don't know to what extent MSSQL DBA skills map to MySQL DBA skills. I'm a developer, so I know enough about MySQL to develop apps which use it (including the basic performance-tuning, index selection, etc.), do schema design, and perform simple utility tasks (backup with mysqldump, scripting, etc.). I don't know anything about MSSQL. Nor do I actually know much about the boundaries of the DBA role. Can anyone with more experience - perhaps as a DBA - weigh in on this? Are there enough similarities between MSSQL and MySQL that it's worth asking a MSSQL DBA if he'd be interested in applying for a MySQL position?

  Hey guys I had a question regarding scalability for my RoR application. We have been optimizing our application over the last few days and after running blitz.io, notice that our application times out after maybe 1000 hits in 30 seconds we experienced massive timeouts. In the 1 minute test apparently 74% of users would have timed out. What is normally done in this situation? Currently we have one web server and one database server. Would load balancing be the route to go?

• Saving a modified InfoPath form to its form library

  Within our corporate SharePoint 2007 site, there is a particular form library that contains 10 separate files. 9 of these are either Excel, Word, or PowerPoint files and one of these is an InfoPath 2007 form that serves as a report. After noticing an error within this InfoPath form, I saved this InfoPath form to my local directory and then, within the design mode of InfoPath, I modified this InfoPath form. What is the proper way to save this modified InfoPath form to its form library? Everything that I have tried results in nobody except myself having access to this modified InfoPath form. I can open this InfoPath form without error but when my coworkers try to open this InfoPath form on their machines, they receive this error: “The form cannot be opened because it requires the domain permission level and it currently has restricted permission. To fix this problem, open the form from the location it was published to."

IPSEC or OpenVPN can this be setup to automatically connect ? any issues/suggestions with that design/topology ? QoS or issues with running the VOIP traffic over a VPN throughput, quality etc.. obviously depends on remote locations connection to some degree

• apache2 mod_proxy configuration for single threaded servers

  I have a multiple instances of thin running behind apache 2.2's mod_proxy. The problem I have is that a couple pages, by design, take a while to run. If I just configure apache the obvious way (just add the thin urls as BalanceMember lines and no other configurations) then what happens is if someone clicks on the long-running page, then if enough web requests happen while it is running, someone eventually gets the same thin server and has to wait. Does anyone have some best practices or suggested configuration for mod_proxy and thin? Ciao!

Here is my requirements: I need 2 HDMI input for 2 HD Camera the signal captured will be encoded with Adobe Live Encoder (does it support dual input sources? • Are there any HTPC-optimized web browsers?

  Features that I would ideally include in "HTPC-optimized": Full-screen. Navigable using a remote or the keyboard arrows. Legible at couch distances. Or, to put it another way, imagine the design requirements for Hulu Desktop or XBMC or WMC, applied to a web browser. Opera on a Wii meets most of these criteria but not being HD wastes a lot of potential. If a single solution doesn't exist, is there some combination of Firefox add-ons that will get me there?

• Colors differ in the dual monitor

  I use a dual monitor. The colors appear entirely different on the new monitor than they do on my laptop. When you are selecting colors etc, to be included in a website design, it totally freaks me out. Is there no software solution that finds how the settings of one of the monitor is and puts that to the second one? Otherwise what all settings do I need to change manually on the second monitor to make it appear as it does on the laptop? Thanks in advance.

  Is Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) adequate protection for my computer? What is the experience with this product? EDIT. On 2009-10-31 I found out about a comparison of AV Suites. MSE did VERY well. EDIT: One that I found interesting was "Raven", who mentioned that AV software has to hook deeply into the OS, and who better to design this than the designer of the OS. EDIT: My personal experience is that I like it, but I also use Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. Each of them sometimes come up with one the others missed or ignored.

• Compaq 610 fan is constantly on and noisy, base is fairly hot too

  The fans on both of my HP Compaq 610s are constantly on and the base is fairly hot and I don't know if this is standard issue. HP assures me that this is unusual and that I should return them as DOA. Because both laptops have this problem, I'm thinking that this might be a design flaw rather than a one-off problem. I've updated the BIOS and using their recommended power settings. Am I missing something? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

• Battery management of a Macbook

  I bought a Macbook Pro last week. I mostly use (and plan to use) it like a desktop with an external monitor. I use the system at least 15 hours a day. Now using the coconut battery application, I figured out that the capacity has the current capacity has reduced to 98% of the design capacity. I was wondering what is the best way to manage battery. Should it be always either charging or discharging Should it be plugged in all time. I barely get 2 hours and 30 minutes on battery. Is that normal? I run XCode, VMWare Fusion (for Visual Studio), Mail app, Chrome (5-10 tabs) and Itunes (mp3). The brightness is 60% on battery. I already did the calibration.

• Looking for Light Time Management Software Suggestions (for Mac)

  I'm looking for a simple project management app that performs task scheduling, along the line of Merlin or MS Project, but no where near as robustly. I don't need to deal with other (human) resources, but I work on anything from 3 to 6 different projects at a time. What I'd like is to be able to input deadlines and tasks, and have a schedule suggested to complete them. I do technical work, but I don't think I need anything specifically for software development, especially considering I do plenty of other kinds of things, like graphic design and social media PR. I'd really like this to be dead simple, as simple as possible. Suggestions? OmniPlan, something web-based? Definitely cannot afford anything too extravagant, really looking for something under $200.   I have to design a network given IPs 146.124.0.0/16 and 146.124.10.0/24. My given requirements are : at least 60 more subnets and maximum 1000 hosts per subnet and use of RIP. I have 3 routers (RA1, RA2, RA3) and 3 subnets (Sales, Logistic and Deposit). I gave WAN1 (RA1-RA3): 146.124.10.0/30, WAN2 (RA2-RA3) : 146.124.10.4/30 and WAN3 (RA1-RA2) : 146.124.10.8/30 and Sales : 146.124.0.0/22, Logistic: 146.124.4.0 and Deposit : 146.124.8.0. When I tried to configure RIP protocol, it didn’t work (I use routerSim 6). What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help please????

• Creating Persistent Drive Labels With UDEV Using /dev/disk/by-path

  I have a new BackBlaze Pod (BackBlaze Pod 2.0). It has 45 3TB drives and they when I first set it up they were labeled /dev/sda through /dev/sdz and /dev/sdaa through /dev/sdas. I used mdadm to setup three really big 15 drive RAID6 arrays. However, since first setup a few weeks ago I had a couple of the hard drives fail on me. I've replaced them but now the arrays are complaining because they can't find the missing drives. They're sorted by scsi id here but sda is missing...replaced by sdau...etc... So obviously the arrays are complaining. Is it possible to get Linux to reread the drive labels in the correct order or am I screwed? My initial design with 15 drive arrays is not ideal. With 3TB drives the rebuild times were taking 3 or 4 days....maybe more. I'm scrapping the whole design and I think I am going to go with 6 x 7 RAID5 disk arrays and 3 hot spares to make the arrays a bit easier to manage and shorten the rebuild times. But I'd like to clean up the drive labels so they aren't out of order. I haven't figured out how to do this yet. Does anyone know how to get this straightened out? Thanks, Matt

• Does the retina MacBook Pro Australian charger duckhead have 3 prongs on it or 2?

  I notice that with my Retina MacBook Pro (bought in UK), its charger uses all three prongs to power the laptop (like this, rather than this). Not surprised, it's a powerful machine. I'm going to Australia now and I want to use an aussie duckhead and make use of the innovative design. I have an existing one from an old iPod (and it used to work with fine with my Macbook Air when in australia), but it's only two prongs (like this). Is that enough to power my rMBP? Or will it damage/strain it and I need to find a 3 prong one (if it even exists - I haven't bought my MBP in Australia) like this? Thanks

• Need Recommendations: Network Software and Hardware Setup for small firm

  Will be starting a small graphics design firm soon, with 20 employees. Therefore need software to manage the network. Have bought a bulk license of Windows 7. I have a spare computer which can act as a server if necessary, but its an ancient Dell machine (Pentium-III). If required I would purchase an extra machine, but would like to avoid unnecessary costs at start up. Following are the main functions that I would like to perform: Need to monitor\control network traffic and internet usage, restrict access to certain websites Alerts when access to certain software's, and when trying to tamper with privileges Ability to view desktops of any computer at any given time Limit access to certain hardware like USB ports,etc Limit access to folders on the computer Log/Report of all actions including keystrokes performed on any computer Local Network chat and talk client Collaboration and Work logs Any Software available to do all of the above and also any additional hardware required besides network switches, network card's and CAT5e cables. • What are the pros and cons of AWS Elastic Beanstalk compared with other deployment strategies?

  I'm pretty new to the whole Netflix OSS stack and deployments in general. As a background for my current level of knowledge ops-wise, my main role is as a front-end application engineer. However, I enjoy the operations side of things, so I'm attempting to setup a new deployment strategy and the tooling for a new project. Our Goals Super easy deploys (we want to push a button to update production) Automated deploys to test environments (using Jenkins) Ease of maintenance (we have an app to write, don't want to spend our time fiddling with production issues) Ability to handle a service oriented architecture (many small apps, various languages and data stores) Enough flexibility to ensure we won't have to change strategies any time soon (we're already trying to get away from RightScale) We're OK with a little more initial setup time if doing so will save us some headaches in the future. So, along these lines, I've been listening to podcasts, watching Ops talks, and reading tons of blog posts and based on our goals and what I've taken to be some forming best practices, we've started forming a plan using Asgard, rolling our package into a jar and rolling that into an AMI. We had this all planned out and like the advantages the process versus using a Chef server and converging instances on the fly (we felt this was error prone given our limited timeline and lack of understanding around a Chef server workflow). However, a coworker did a little looking around on his own and felt like Elastic Beanstalk met our needs. I've looked into it and spun up a test environment with a WAR file and an attached RDS database. Things seem to work and I believe that we can automate deploys to a testing environment using Jenkins via the AWS API. Seems simple enough... perhaps too simple. What I'm wondering is, what's the catch? If Elastic Beanstalk is so simple and effective, why isn't it talked about more? I'm having a hard time finding enough objective opinions and facts about the two different deployment strategies, so I thought I'd ask around. Do you use Elastic Beanstalk? If so, why and what factors lead to that decision? What do you like and dislike? If you don't use Elastic Beanstalk but considered it, what do you use and why didn't you use Elastic Beanstalk? What are the advantages and disadvantages to a Elastic Beanstalk based deployment strategy for an SOA? That is, will Elastic Beanstalk work well with many small applications that rely on each other to work?

• Any way to fix alphabetical selection behavior in list widgets in Windows?

  In every version of Windows I've ever used (95 through Vista), the following apparent bug has been present in every list widget, whether drop-down, multi-select, or Explorer folder view: If you use the keyboard to select some item alphabetically, the selection gets "locked" on that item. If I have a list with the contents below, and I press D, then Delta will get selected. At this point, pressing A, B, or G will do nothing unless I first switch focus to another window or control, or remove focus by pressing Esc. If, at the beginning, I press G, then I can keep pressing G to cycle through the Gamma entries, but A, B, or D will do nothing unless I clear the focus. Alpha Beta Beta2 Delta Gamma Gamma2 Gamma3 I don't think I've seen this aggravating behavior on OS X, KDE, or Gnome shells, and I can't imagine why this behavior would be "by design." Does anyone know anything about this bug or how to get around it?
