  • Compiling a click-once app that requires administrator?

    Hi, a lot of my programs require the ability to write files to the hard drive. When I first made these programs for XP they worked great. Now I'm less ignorant about UAC (got a new laptop recently). And for future customers...I've noticed the potential for a LOT of annoying error messages....and quite frankly if the program can't write data to the hard drive or thumb drive it's on...there's no point to running it.... I've tried multiple times to build in the manifest a requirement for administrator or user access....I'm not sure if anything less would solve the problem...but have failed because click-once has security features in place to prevent me from doing so. I'd rather not have to tell my customers how to make the program run as an administrator by editing the file's properties...I'd much rather have a convenient pop up like what you'd see new programs such as Itunes or Filezilla show if they were in conflict with UAC requesting the privileges they need. I'd really like to do this but have had little success. Any and all advice that can remedy this grievous problem appreciated. Thanks.

    So I have a project structure like so: MyProject/ src/ //subfolders and source code ..... tests/ package/ MyTest.php I am trying to run the unit tests in MyTest.php with PHPUnit but it has a use statement for PHP classes located in the src folder. So I tried to use the include-path directive for PHPUnit like so: (I am in the directory with MyTest.php) phpunit --include-path ~/workspace/MyProject/src/ MyTest Unfortunately execution is halting at the first use statement. What gives?

    Has anyone seen this weird value while handling sin / cos/ tan / acos.. math stuff? ===THE WEIRD VALUE=== -1.#IND00 ===================== void inverse_pos(double x, double y, double& theta_one, double& theta_two) { // Assume that L1 = 350 and L2 = 250 double B = sqrt(x*x + y*y); double angle_beta = atan2(y, x); double angle_alpha = acos((L2*L2 - B*B - L1*L1) / (-2*B*L1)); theta_one = angle_beta + angle_alpha; theta_two = atan2((y-L1*sin(theta_one)), (x-L1*cos(theta_one))); } This is the code I was working on. In a particular condition - like when x & y are 10 & 10, this code stores -1.#IND00 into theta_one & theta_two. It doesn't look like either characters or numbers :( Without a doubt, atan2 / acos / stuff are the problems. But the problem is, try and catch doesn't work either cuz those double variables have successfully stored some values in them. Moreover, the following calculations never complain about it and never break the program! I'm thinking of forcing to use this value somehow and make the entire program crash... So that I can catch this error.. Except for that idea, I have no idea how I should check whether these theta_one and theta_two variables have stored this crazy values. Any good ideas?   • OpenGLES - Rendering a background image only once and not wiping it

    Hello, first time asking a question here but been watching others answers for a while. My own question is one for improving the performance of my program. Currently I'm wiping the viewFrameBuffer on each pass through my program and then rendering the background image first followed by the rest of my scene. I was wondering how I go about rendering the background image once, and only wiping the rest of the scene for updating/re-rendering. I tried using a seperate buffer but I'm not sure how to present this new buffer to the render buffer. // Set the current EAGLContext and bind to the framebuffer. My structure is as follows: Members Members/News Members/Press Members/Movies Users should be able to have access to the members parent page, but not child pages. My problem is, because I am using extensionless URLs, the web.config thinks this is a directory and so access is blocked. Is there a way to say only restrict access for sub pages?

  • real time stock quotes, StreamReader performance optimization

    I am working on a program that extracts real time quote for 900+ stocks from a website. I use HttpWebRequest to send HTTP request to the site and store the response to a stream and open a stream using the following code: HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); Stream stream = response.GetResponseStream (); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader( stream ) the size of the received HTML is large (5000+ lines), so it takes a long time to parse it and extract the price. For 900 files, It takes about 6 mins for parsing and extracting. Which my boss isn't happy with, he told me he'd want the whole process to be done in TWO mins. I've identified the part of the program that takes most of time to finish is parsing and extracting. I've tried to optimize the code to make it faster, the following is what I have now after some optimization: // skip lines at the top for(int i=0;i<1500;++i) reader.ReadLine(); // read the line that contains the price string theLine = reader.ReadLine(); // ... extract the price from the line now it takes about 4 mins to process all the files, there is still a significant gap to what my boss's expecting. So I am wondering, is there other way that I can further speed up the parsing and extracting and have everything done within 2 mins?

    I'd like to make program-wide data in a C++ program, without running into pesky LNK2005 errors when all the source files #includes this "global variable repository" file. I have 2 ways to do it in C++, and I'm asking which way is better. The easiest way to do it in C# is just public static members.     Context: I have a bash script (a wrapper for other scripts, really), that does the following pseudocode: do a main function if the main function returns: $returncode = $? #most recent return code if the main function runs longer than a timeout: kill the main function $returncode = 140 #the semi-canonical "exceeded allowed wall clock time" status run a cleanup function if the cleanup function returns an error: #nonzero return code exit $? #exit the program with the status returned from the cleanup function else #cleanup was successful .... Question: What should happen after the last line? If the cleanup function was successful, but the main function was not, should my program return 0 (for the successful cleanup), or $returncode, which contains the (possibly nonzero and unsuccessful) return code of the main function? For a specific application, the answer would be easy: "it depends on what you need the script for." However, this is more of a general/canonical question (and if this is the wrong place for it, kill it with fire): in Bash (or Linux in general) programming, do you typically want to return the status that "means" something (i.e. $returncode) or do you ignore such subjectivities and simply return the code of the most recent function? This isn't Bash-specific: if I have a standalone executable of any kind, how, canonically should it behave in these cases? Obviously, this is somewhat debatable. Even if there is a system for these things, I'm sure that a lot of people ignore it. All the same, I'd like to know. Cheers!

  • How do I run NUnit in debug mode from Visual Studio?

    I've recently been building a test framework for a bit of C# I've been working on. I have NUnit set up and a new project within my workspace to test the component. All works well if I load up my unit tests from Nunit (v2.4), but I've got to the point where it would be really useful to run in debug mode and set some break points. I've tried the suggestions from several guides which all suggest changing the 'Debug' properties of the test project: Start external program: C:\Program Files\NUnit 2.4.8\bin\nunit-console.exe Command line arguments: /assembly: <full-path-to-solution>\TestDSP\bin\Debug\TestDSP.dll I'm using the console version there, but have tried the calling the GUI as well. Both give me the same error when I try and start debugging: Cannot start test project 'TestDSP' because the project does not contain any tests. Is this because I normally load \DSP.nunit into the Nunit GUI and that's where the tests are held? I'm beginning to think the problem may be that VS wants to run it's own test framework and that's why it's failing to find the NUnit tests? [Edit] To those asking about test fixtures, one of my .cs files in the TestDSP project looks roughly like this: namespace Some.TestNamespace { // Testing framework includes using NUnit.Framework; [TestFixture] public class FirFilterTest { /// <summary> /// Tests that a FirFilter can be created /// </summary> [Test] public void Test01_ConstructorTest() { ...some tests... } } } ...I'm pretty new to C# and the Nunit test framework so it's entirely possible I've missed some crucial bit of information ;-) [FINAL SOLUTION] The big problem was the project I'd used. If you pick: Other Languages->Visual C#->Test->Test Project ...when you're choosing the project type, Visual Studio will try and use it's own testing framework as far as I can tell. You should pick a normal c# class library project instead and then the instructions in my selected answer will work.

In short, I want to loop over a set of records, calculate lags for a product (if possible), append the lags (as they apply) to the current record for each product, and write the results back to a table in my database for my reporting software to use. So what i've tried to do is place a System.Threading.Sleep() call in different places in the code above. The problem is that instead of making the computer look like its thinking, the program waits and then puts the X and O together at the same time. Can someone help me make it so that the program puts an X wherever i click AND THEN wait before it places an O? Edit: in case any of you are wondering, i realize that the computers AI is ridiculously dumb, but its just to mess around right now. Later on i will implement a serious AI..hopefully.

I've declared myIndexRow as an instance variable and have: NSInteger myIndexRow = indexPath.row; [deleteButton addTarget:self action:@selector(showDeleteSheet:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; deleteButton.myIndexRow = myIndexRow; but I'm getting the 'Request for member 'myRow' is something not a structure or union' There is something obvious I am missing here.
