  I have a large database and am putting together a report of the data. I have aggregated and summed the data from many tables to get two tables that look like the following. id | code | value id | code | value 13 | AA | 0.5 13 | AC | 2.0 13 | AB | 1.0 14 | AB | 1.5 14 | AA | 2.0 13 | AA | 0.5 15 | AB | 0.5 15 | AB | 3.0 15 | AD | 1.5 15 | AA | 1.0 I need to get a list of id's, with the code (sumed from both tables) with the largest value. 13 | AC 14 | AA 15 | AB There are 4-6 thousand records and it is not possible to change the original tables. I'm not too worried about performance as I only need to run it a few times a year.

  I am using MySQL Workbench (5.1.18 OSS rev 4456) to forward engineer a SQL CREATE script. For every stored procedure, the automatic process outputs something like: DELIMITER // USE DB_Name// DB_Name// DROP procedure IF EXISTS `DB_Name`.`SP_Name` // USE DB_Name// DB_Name// CREATE PROCEDURE `DB_Name`.`SP_Name` (id INT) BEGIN SELECT * FROM Table_Name WHERE Id = id; END// The two lines that are simply the database name followed by the delimiter are errors and are reported as such when running the script. As long as they are ignored, it looks like everything gets created just fine. But why would it add those lines? I am creating the database in the WAMP environment which uses MySQL 5.1.36

  Here is a simplified version of one of my models: class ImportRule(models.Model): feed = models.ForeignKey(Feed) name = models.CharField(max_length=255) feed_provider_category = models.ForeignKey(FeedProviderCategory, null=True) target_subcategories = models.ManyToManyField(Subcategory) This class manages a rule for importing a list of items from a feed into the database. The admin system won't let me add an ImportRule without selecting a feed_provider_category despite it being declared in the model as nullable. The database (SQLite at the moment) even checks out ok: >>> .schema ... CREATE TABLE "someapp_importrule" ( "id" integer NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, "feed_id" integer NOT NULL REFERENCES "someapp_feed" ("id"), "name" varchar(255) NOT NULL, "feed_provider_category_id" integer REFERENCES "someapp_feedprovidercategory" ("id"), ); ... I can create the object in the python shell easily enough: f = Feed.objects.get(pk=1) i = ImportRule(name='test', feed=f) i.save() ...but the admin system won't let me edit it, of course. How can I get the admin to let me edit/create objects without specifying that foreign key?

  Assuming the following hypothetical inheritance hierarchy: public interface IA { int ID { get; set; } } public interface IB : IA { string Name { get; set; } } Using reflection and making the following call: typeof(IB).GetProperties(BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance) will only yield the properties of interface IB, which is "Name". If we were to do a similar test on the following code, public abstract class A { public int ID { get; set; } } public class B : A { public string Name { get; set; } } the call typeof(B).GetProperties(BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance) will return an array of PropertyInfo objects for "ID" and "Name". Is there an easy way to find all the properties in the inheritance hierarchy for interfaces as in the first example?

• Where should the partitioning column go in the primary key on SQL Server?

  Using SQL Server 2005 and 2008. I've got a potentially very large table (potentially hundreds of millions of rows) consisting of the following columns: CREATE TABLE ( date SMALLDATETIME, id BIGINT, value FLOAT ) which is being partitioned on column date in daily partitions. The question then is should the primary key be on date, id or value, id? I can imagine that SQL Server is smart enough to know that it's already partitioning on date and therefore, if I'm always querying for whole chunks of days, then I can have it second in the primary key. Or I can imagine that SQL Server will need that column to be first in the primary key to get the benefit of partitioning. Can anyone lend some insight into which way the table should be keyed?

  Is it possible to implement post-redirect-get pattern, with two overloaded action methods(One for GET action and the other for POST action) in ASP.NET MVC. In all of the MVC post-redirect-get pattern samples, I have seen three different action methods for the post-redirect-get process, each having different names. Is this really required?   Hi All, I have a JSP page populated by javascript resulting in a typical table element cascade . After population I see the text I want using getTable("tableLister.listTable.1.1") The table also has a class=clsDisplayTableBody. I want to click the check box in column 0 for the row of interest. Here what i am doing in the code is, when they are creating new user i am getting a max id from DB and increasing the value to 1. So that they are getting same ID. so that i am facing concurrency in this situation. How to solve this problem. I need to display different numbers when the users click on NewUser.   I've got two tables, one for listings and another representing a list of tags for the listings table. In the listings table the tag ids are stored in a field called tags as 1-2-3-. This has worked out very well for me (regular expressions and joins to separate and display the data), but I now need to pull the titles of those tags into a single row. • JQuery post not working when moving web-app to a win server 2003

  I have build a webapplication using ASP.NET MVC and JQuery. On my local machine this works fine,but when moving it to a Windows server 2003 the JQuery method post stops working. • Test iPhone in-app purchases on a different bundle?

  We have a group of beta testers for iPhone app. Recently, we added in-app purchases to the app. Before this, we would send out ad hoc builds to beta testers using a separate bundle ID and name so that they could have the store build and the ad hoc build on their phones. However, it seems like we have to build the ad hoc copy with the same Bundle ID to test in-app purchases, and this means we can't send out a seperate beta copy - our beta file (annoyingly) overwrites the user's store-bought app. Is there any way to test in-app purchases in a different bundle ID? Do I need to set up fake, test in-app purchases for the test build too?

This is what I have so far: I have written a javascript function (get_my_url) that returns a url, depending on the element id that was passed to the function. • EF2: Is there a way to add an Entity to EntityCollection without having to load related Entity?

  I can set an EntityReference on an entity without having to load the relevent entity as follows: this.CategoryReference.EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.CategorySet", "Id", 12); So I can set the Category for the entity I'm dealing with to whatever category has id 12 without having to hit the database. But is there a way to do this or something similar on an EntityCollection? • LINQ-to-SQL and SQL Compact - database file sharing problem

I'm learing LINQ-to-SQL right now and i have wrote a simple application that define SQL data: [Table( Name = "items" )] public class Item { [ Column( IsPrimaryKey = true, IsDbGenerated = true ) ] public int Id; [ Column ] public string Name; } I have launched 2 copy of application connected to the same .sdf file and tested if all database modifications in one application affects another application. But strange thing arise. If i use InsertOnSubmit() and DeleteOnSubmit() in one application, added/removed items are instantly visible in other application via 'select' LINQ queue. But if i try to modify 'Name' field in one application, it is NOT visible in other applicaton until it reconnects the database :(. The test code i use: var Items = from c in db.Items where Id == c.Id select c; foreach( var Item in Items ) { Item.Name = "new name"; break; } db.SubmitChanges(); Can anyone suggest what i'm doing wrong and why InsertOnSubmit()/DeleteOnSubmit works and SubmitChanges() don't?
