  • How to make div follow scrolling smoothly with jQuery?

    Hello I'm creating a blog layout, which has an sidebar. In sidebar there are sections/boxes, but the last one of these boxes should follow scrolling when none of the other boxes are visible. So, when user scrolls down, he sees a normal sidebar, but when user has went down enough, sidebar ends but the last box starts to follow on the top of the screen. I have seen this a lot on different kind of sites. So hard to explain with my english. I already made it to follow screen smoothly with animate() but couldn't get it like this. Hope you understood. I already tried in Google for almost an hour but couldn't figure out any keywords (due to my bad english).   • changing order of items in tkinter listbox

    Is there an easier way to change the order of items in a tkinter listbox than deleting the values for specific key, then re-entering new info? For example, I want to be able to re-arrange items in a listbox. If I want to swap the position of two, this is what I've done.     Hi all, When I was doing some JQuery and PHP, I noticed the If-else patterns were treated differently and varied from one language to another. Say I got a simple input text field in a HTML and I was using some Ifs and Elses to check the value input into the text field. Text: <input type="text" name="testing"/> In JQuery, I got some codes as follows: if($("#testing").val()==1){ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="add"){ //do something } else{ //do something } if($("#testing").val()=="hello"){ //do something } How come JQuery and PHP treated the Else statement differently? I mean in JQuery, the third If statement was still proceeded even if it had gone to the Else statement, but it stopped after the Else statement when I repeated the code in PHP script.

  • Jquery: encasing div and anchor link binded to same event.

    im having trouble figuring out how to bind mouseout() to my entire nav bar including the links. when a user hovers over a link in #nav a sub menu is shown. all is well there. what i want to do is fadeOut that sub menu when the user hovers out of the entire #nav. my code for the mouseout: $('#nav').mouseout(function() { setTimeout(function() { //$('.sub-link').fadeOut(); }, 2000); }); when i hover over an anchor link which resides in #nav, i see the sub-menu. then i guess the mouseout() even fires and the sub-menu fades out. is there anyway to have the #nav and any anchor links within it to act as one? i'd paste my markup but even indenting it 4 spaces still shows as rendered html.. TIA

    Uploading my ruby on rails app to heroku causes the following error: We're sorry, but something went wrong. This does not occur on my local machine. After some debugging, I think I may have spotted the error, but do not know how to fix it. In my file application.html.erb, removing the following line solves the problem, but then my app loses its jquery mobile theme. Any ideas what I could do to fix the problem?   • How to avoid strange characters before the request in firefox?

    Hi, on a website i'm currently developing I'm using jquery to do all sort of magic things :-) In firefox however, when I load jquery 1.4.2 there are sometimes funny characters in front of the request. You can see the strangers characters in this screenshot (thank you firebug). In safari, Chrome and IE these funny characters don't appear, jquery is loading fine in those browsers. Why are those characters appearing and how can I remove them? Thanks!!

  • RadioGroup onCheckedChanged function won't fire

    First time/long time. My app keeps track of restaurant servers' shift sales to help them budget. In the activity that displays past shifts, I've created a RadioGroup under the ListView so the server can choose lunch, dinner, or both. I've implemented RadioGroup.onCheckedChangeListener, but onCheckChanged never gets called. I also tried an anonymous inner class as listener, same result. I tried to copy/modify code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/a/9595528 ...but when I added the @Override to the callback function, the Eclipse compiler gave me an error (not warning) that the method must override a superclass, and the quick fix was to remove the override. I'm pretty sure the signatures are correct, as they were made with Eclipse's autocomplete and implement methods facilities. I then followed instructions to move my java compiler from 1.5 to 1.6, and none of the above listed behavior seemed to change.     I want to get the .next() and .prev() sibling of an HTML element without excluding TextNodes. I basically need to understand if an element is directly sorrounded by <br> HTML elements. This would return true: <br> <div></div> <br> This would return false: <br> Some text <div></div> <br> BUT this needs to also return true: <br> <div></div> <br> The third example basically uses an empty TextNode, or blankspaces, or newlines. What's the best way to do this?

  • Why jquery.animate on a textarea make the blinking cursor disapears?

I have the following code $(document).ready(function() { $("#myTextArea").focus(function() { $("#myTextArea").animate({ "height": "75px"}, "normal"); return false; }); to expand a textbox when it gets focus. The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again?     Wordpress wraps images with captions in a div with a class of .wp-caption. I'm looking for a way to select images that don't have this div so I can wrap them in different div.     Hi all, I'm trying to achieve two things, both of which I fail to get at. On a server are a series of notes; all contain a div (id=ajxContent). Some notes also contain an additiona div (id=ajxHead). The ajxContent itself contains links (class=clicking) to call the next installment, hence the link destination in a variable. This is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $( 'a.clicking' ).live('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var theLink = $(this).attr('href'); $('#loadText').load(theLink + '#ajxContent'); $('h1').load(theLink + '#ajxHead'); }); }) Where it fails: 1) the ajxContent gets loaded into the h1 tag as well as in its intended target. 2) when I had set up the code differently, if there was no div id=ajxHead present in a note, the load would nevertheless erase the existing value in the h1 tag. Am I on a totally wrong track here, with two load statements? Input is very welcome, thanks.
