Given a grid of any height and width, write an algorithm to traverse it in a spiral. (Starting at the top left and ending in the middle) without passing over previously visited nodes. Without using nested loops.
Hello All
I am looking to write an extremely simple "contact us" form that will email the response to me. My two technologies are PERL and PHP. What I am wondering is, which technology is more secure? Any and all opinions will be appreciated.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day.
I'm trying to write a regular expression which specifies that text should start with a letter, every character should be a letter, number or underscore, there should not be 2 underscores in a row and it should end with a letter or number. At the moment, the only thing I have is ^[a-zA-Z]\w[a-zA-Z1-9_] but this doesn't seem to work properly since it only ever matches 3 characters, and allows repeated underscores. I also don't know how to specify requirements for the last character.
I need to have a buffered char stream, into which I write in one thread and from which I read in another thread. Right now I'm using PipedReader and PipedWriter for it, but those classes cause a performance problem: PipedReader does a wait(1000) when its internal buffer is empty, which causes my application to lag visibly.
Would there be some library which does the same thing as PipedReader/PipedWriter, but with better performance? Or will I have to implement my own wheels?
Hi - I need to write some junit tests on java code that calls Math.random(). I know that I can set the seed if I was instantiating my own Random object to produce repeatable results. Is there a way to do this also for Math.random() ?

When you have a slow database app, the first suggestions that people make is to:
Track the slow queries
Add appropriate indexes
In the case you are building your own application this is very logical, but when you use a CMS like Drupal, that are people have developed and tuned, is this approach valid?
I mean, aren't Drupal tables already fine-tuned for performance? Even if I try to see which queries are the slow ones, what could I do about it? Re-write Drupal core?!?
Hi guys, any solution to this problem - given a list of numbers [1,2,3,4,5] write a Prolog program to sum up all the odd-positioned in this list ?
odd([1,2,3,4,5],Sum)
Sum = 9. (1+3+5)
If I write a function like this:
void doMaybeNothing()
{
#ifndef IM_LAZY
doSomething();
#endif
}
Are modern compilers smart enough to detect a no-op function and optimize so that there are no cycles wasted? Or is there always a small performance impact?
Is it possible to get Autocomplete or Something when i work with the eclipse form editor?
I write a color in the strings.xml and then i want to select it by the propertys for the text color, but there is no autocomplete or something equal
Hi,
I like to display some (X)HTML content in a Qt application using QtWebKit.
The content should be generated from XML documents via XSLT.
As I am new to Qt, my questions are as follows:
1) Can QtWebKit display XML documents with the xml-stylesheet element set?
2) Can Qt apply XSLT to an XML document and return the result as a string or write it to a file?
I have a table with three columns: patient_id, obs_date, and weight_val. patient_id stores patient identification #, weight_val stores a weight value, and obs_date stores the date when the weight reading was taken. So, a patient can have many different weight readings at different dates.
How do you write a query for:
select all patients whose last weight reading is 120?
I'm using a macro and I think it works fine -
#define CStrNullLastNL(str) {char* nl=strrchr(str,'\n'); if(nl){*nl=0;}}
So it works to zero out the last newline in a string, really its used to chop off the linebreak when it gets left on by fgets.
So, I'm wondering if I can "return" a value from the macro, so it can be called like
func( CStrNullLastNL( cstr ) ) ;
Or will I have to write a function
I've been learning a little of C++ and Java but my main field of interest is gaming and i would like to write code for making my own 3D Games to complement my artistic expertise
some case i write code like these:
a,temp,b = s.partition('-')
i just need to pick the first and 3rd element. temp would never be used. is there a better way to do this?
the common case is ,a better way to pick separted element to make a new list?
for example
i want to make a new list use old list 0,1,3,7 element
code would be this:
newlist = [oldlist[0],oldlist[1],oldlist[3],oldlist[7]]
it's pretty ugly,isn't it?
i can get file name via below codes. How can i send this file to remote computer. this remote computer ip: 192.168.2.105 also i can use 51124 port
class Program
{
static void Main(string[] args)
{
string[] dosyalarinYollari = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(@"z:\20071008\1.2.392.200036.9116.2.6.1.48.1215563310.1191800303.305777\", "*.dcm", System.IO.SearchOption.AllDirectories);
foreach (string s in dosyalarinYollari)
{
Console.Write(s+"\n"); // i need to send tihs s file to remote machine
}
Console.ReadKey();
}
}
I found this piece of code:
char a = 1["ABC"];
A few quick test led me to the fact it was the same than writing:
char a = "ABC"[1];
Which seems far more logical to me. So my questions:
Why is this notation valid?
Is there any reason to write something that way?
i want to write an application that sends bulk sms in java and i have a tutorial but i have to configure sms lib for me to use my modem as the port. can somehelp
I am able to create, write and read an SQLite Database in my Android App. I have a copy of the Database that is fully populated with data, and I want to get that data into the App's Database. Is it possible to access my pouplaed database from inside my App? Or can I at least create a copy of the populated database and then use that copy? Or do I need to do a .dump and put all the inserts into the Android code?
I am trying to write a recursive method to print n number of asteriks in a line and create a new line at the end.
So, TriangleOps.line(5);

This is the code I wrote:
public static void line (int n){
if(n>0){
System.out.println("*");
line(n-1);
}}
instead it prints
*

with a lot of space at the end. Can anyone tell me how to remove the line breaks?
How would I write a SQLite query to select all records from a specific month?
My dates are stored as Unix timestamps. PHP code is allowed in your solution if it's required. SQLite2-compatible queries only, please. :)
I want to write to a file without overwriting anything. It is a text file containing records. When I delete a specific record, I do not actually remove it from the file, I just put information in the header saying that it is deleted. How can I do this?
