  • Weird behavior of an ASP.NET MVC application - track of errors

    Before migrating from ASP.NET WebForms I had a very good way to monitor all my application errors in the Events Log (Administrative Tools). But now after moving to asp.net MVC, all I get is the same mistake occurring every minute (something about Site Master). I know it's not right, because there are other mistakes, but they are not displayed. I purposefully put in division by zero operation, and it didn't track it. I had to implement the OnException method of a controller, and send e-mails with error details which is very inconvenient. How can I solve this problem?

The Polyline picks up the initial list of points, but does not notice when additional points are added even though I implement INotifyPropertyChanged.   • Create slide-in notifications à la Outlook in Windows with .NET

    I am using .NET and am creating a desktop app/service that will display notifications in the corner of my Desktop when certain events are triggered. I don't want to use a regular Message Box b/c that would be too intrusive. The notifications would slide into view and then fade out after a few seconds. I am thinking of something that will act very much like the Outlook alerts that one gets when a new message arrives. The question is: Should I use WPF for this? I've never done anything with WPF but will happily try it if that's best means to the end. Is there a way to accomplish this with regular .NET libraries?

    HI all, I am working with asp.net with c#.net Here i am using session state to pass the value from one page to another. i have two pages, in first page i am calculating the value and passing the value to second page using session and in second page i am displaying the message through the value. I am using these two pages for facebook application. I uploaded my two pages then i am checking with facebook by opening through internet explorer and its giving below error. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.     I have a UnitOfWork/Service pattern where I populate my model using NHibernate before sending it to the view. For some reason I still get the YSOD, and I don't understand why the object collection is not already populated.     Hi All, I have downloaded cruisecontrol.net setup and have installed it in "C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET". It contains a folder called "webdashboard" which has aspx page and some other stuff as well. I want to configure this in my IIS so that I can access it , I tried but it doesn't work , every time I get error that page you requested is not found. I created web site, created virtual directory but none is working. I have not put anything in inetpub/wwwroot. Can anyone please guide me how can I configure this to work.

    I'm tying to use one database call and reuse that data for other controls - without having to do another call. Scenario: I call the books table which returns all the authors and titles. I create an author's list control called list1 to displays all the titles by Shakespeare and a list2 to display titles by Charles Dickens. Void Bindme() { string commandText = "Select * from books"; SqlCommand mycommand = new SqlCommand(commandText, datasource1); datasource1.Open(); SqlDataReader myReader1 = mycommand.ExecuteReader(); list1.DataSource = myReader1; list1.DataBind(); list2.DataSource = myReader1; list2.DataBind(); datasource1.Close(); } In my example only the first bind to the source, list1, gets data. Any ideas?

  • asp.net Background Threads Exception Handling

    In my 3.5 .net web application I have a background thread that does a lot of work (the application is similar to mint.com in that it does a lot of account aggregation on background threads). I do extensive exception handling within the thread performing the aggregation but there's always the chance an unhandled exception will be thrown and my entire application will die. I've read some articles about this topic but they all seem fairly outdated and none of them implement a standard approach. Is there a standard approach to this nowadays? Is there any nicer way to handle this in ASP.NET 4.0?

    Good Day, I am developing a website that has product images on an external server. I have code that tests to see if the image exists like (pseudo code): DynamicString = FunctionThatCreatesDynamicString() ' DynamicString = "http://external_server/path/to/file1.jpg" If ImageExists(DyanmicString) = StatusCode.200 Then ' Embed link in ASP.NET page Else ' Embed not found image in ASP.NET page End If My code builds fine and appears to execute. The problem occurs when I attempt to view the external link in a browser, the image appears properly (I have to authenticate first, but that's OK considering I'm on an internal network and this app will be used internally). However, when I attempt the view the source in my generated HTML page, I am seeing the image to the "Not Found" image when I know the image is there. I compared all the characters in my dynamically assembled to the external link and all the characters are matching up correctly. I'm wondering if the authentication has anything to do with why the image is not rendering properly on my rendered HTML. Any thoughts? TIA, coson

  • VMR9Allocator (DirectShow .NET + SlimDX)

    I was trying to convert and run the VMR9Allocator sample for DirectShow .NET with SlimDX instead of MDX. I got an exception when it reach this line return vmrSurfaceAllocatorNotify.SetD3DDevice(unmanagedDevice, hMonitor) In the AdviseNotify method in Allocator.cs. The exception is "No such interface supported", and the hr return was "0x80004002". The sample runs fine with MDX, and my SlimDx is also working, as I've written another 3d apps using it, working fine. I can't seems to find out what went wrong, no help from googling as well. Apparently not much ppl uses this combination, and non that i can find actually stumble into this problem. Any idea guys? NOTE: I've asked the same question over at gamedev.net 2 weeks back, no answer thus far.

The samples listed in facebooksdk is based on MVC. i tried to implement it in my website, but getting errors. i am struck. If anyone implemented the facebook connect logic and retrieved the user information using facebook-c#-sdk, please help me how to do this. I tried the same using facebooktoolkit, and i am able to retrive the user info. but the toolkit is having issues with .net 4.0. Greatly appreciated your help.

My thought was I could create Model B and Model C and have Model A be a composite with a Model B property and a Model C property.     i have some html files as part of a regular website that has been ported over to asp.net mvc. In my code i need to read and write these html files and stick them in a tinymce editor To be able to read and write this file from disk in the past i had a hard coded path but this doesn't seem to work in asp.net mvc unless i do something like this: Writing: string _urlDirectory = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; System.IO.File.WriteAllText(_urlDirectory, htmlData_); Reading: string url = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; var req = WebRequest.Create(url); var response = req.GetResponse(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); string htmlData_ = sr.ReadToEnd(); i am moving my site from one data center to another and the directory structure is changing. instead of just changing the hard coded path to another hard coded path i wanted to see if there was a more relative way to reference these files.
