They wrote a wicked cool article about Oracle VM Server for SPARC. Here's a little bit about it... Looking Under the Hood of Networking in Oracle VM Server for x86 Oracle VM Server for SPARC lets you create logical networks out of physical Ethernet ports, bonded ports, VLAN segments, virtual MAC addresses (VNICs), and network channels. You can then assign channels (or "roles") to each logical network so that it handles the type of traffic you want it to. Greg King explains how you go about doing this, and how Oracle VM Server for SPARC implements the network infrastructure you configured. He also describes how the VM interacts with paravirtualized guest operating systems, hardware virtualized operating systems, and VLANs.     A new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with Adaptive Case Management (ACM) is now available, so what will that mean for requirements gathering? BPM project requirements can be documented using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0). For ACM, there is a new notation in the works. It is called Case Management Model and Notation (CMMN). For now, this notation isn’t included as a modeling tool in the new version of Oracle BPM Suite 11.1.1.7 with ACM, but it is possible that a modeling tool could be included in a future release. What is CMMN? CMMN is a standard intended to capture the common elements that Case Management Products use, the same way that BPMN is a standard for BPM products (such as Oracle BPM). CMMN is created by the Object Management Group (OMG) and is still in the beta version. In April 2014, OMG released the second beta version the CMMN 1.0, and the most recent version is available here. CMMN captures some of the elements that are commonly used when talking about ACM such as Cases, Milestones, and Tasks. It also introduces some elements that you may not automatically hear when talking about ACM such as Stages, Events, and Decorators.   • Is this a ridiculous way to structure a DB schema, or am I completely missing something?

    I have done a fair bit of work with relational databases, and think I understand the basic concepts of good schema design pretty well. I recently was tasked with taking over a project where the DB was designed by a highly-paid consultant. Please let me know if my gut intinct - "WTF??!?" - is warranted, or is this guy such a genius that he's operating out of my realm? DB in question is an in-house app used to enter requests from employees. Just looking at a small section of it, you have information on the users, and information on the request being made. I would design this like so: User table: UserID (primary Key, indexed, no dupes) FirstName LastName Department Request table RequestID (primary Key, indexed, no dupes) <...> various data fields containing request details UserID -- foreign key associated with User table Simple, right? Consultant designed it like this (with sample data): UsersTable UserID FirstName LastName 234 John Doe 516 Jane Doe 123 Foo Bar DepartmentsTable DepartmentID Name 1 Sales 2 HR 3 IT UserDepartmentTable UserDepartmentID UserID Department 1 234 2 2 516 2 3 123 1 RequestTable RequestID UserID <...> 1 516 blah 2 516 blah 3 234 blah The entire database is constructed like this, with every piece of data encapsulated in its own table, with numeric IDs linking everything together. Apparently the consultant had read about OLAP and wanted the 'speed of integer lookups' He also has a large number of stored procedures to cross reference all of these tables. Is this valid design for a small to mid-sized SQL DB? Thanks for comments/answers...

    We just issued a press release with a number of very good updates for everyone There are a few things of importance : 1) As of right now, Oracle Linux 6 with the Unbreakable Kernel is certified with a number of Oracle products such as Oracle Database 11gR2 and Oracle Fusion Middleware. The certification pages in the Oracle Support portal will be updated with the latest certification status for the various products. As always we have gone through a long period of very comprehensive testing and validation to ensure that the whole stack works really well together, with very large database workloads, middleware application workloads etc. 2) Standard certification efforts for Oracle Linux 6 with the Red Hat Compatible Kernel are in progress and we expect that to be completed in the next few months. Because of the compatibility between OL6 and RHEL6 we can then also state certification for RHEL6. 3) Oracle Linux binaries (and of course source code) have been free for download -and- use (including production, not just trial periods) since day one. You can freely redistribute the binaries, unlike many other Linux vendors where you need to pay a support subscription to even get access to the binaries. We offered both the base distribution release DVDs (OL4, OL5, OL6) and the update releases, such as 5.1, 5.2 etc. this way. Today, in this announcement, we also started to make available the bugfix and security updates released in between these update releases. So the errata streams (both binary and source code) for OL4, 5 and 6 are now free for download and use from http://public-yum.oracle.com. This includes uek and uek2. The nice thing is, if you want a complete up to date system without support, use this, if you then need support, get a support subscription. Simple, convenient, effective. We have great SLA's in producing our update streams, consistency in release timing and testing of all the components. Have at it!

  • Uploadify & Integrated Windows Authentication

    Hi guys I'm running into an issue with Uploadify and I hope someone can help. I have put Uploadify into my app and all works fine in dev (using the VS web server). All worked fine and checked until I deployed the app into my test environment which uses Integrated Windows Authentication. When I actually go to upload the file, the browser brings up a login prompt. At this point, even if you type in the correct username and password, the request seems not to complete and even if you tell the browser to remember the password it still brings up the login prompt. When this started to occur, I decided to spin up Fiddler and see what was going on. But guess what, when ever Fiddler is running the issue doesn't occur. Unfortunately I can't make running Fiddler a reuqierment for running the app. Hence does anyone have any ideas. I know there are some issues with Uploadify/flash when using forms authentication but I didn't think they carried across to Integrated Windows Authentication. Cheers Anthony

I am interested in developer's opinion and I would like to find out which things are difficult doing with any of the above controls and which things are easy to achieve. AJAX compatibility (build in to the controls but also manual), ASP.NET compatibility, input capabilities, data binding options, performance, how much code does one need to write in order to create a chart, are some of the things that I would want to read about. I have already done my research on StackOverflow for relevant questions but there is nothing on the level of detail that I would want to read in order to make a responsible decision.

  • Eclipse Plugin does not work in FlashBuilder/FlexBuilder Standalone

    Hi, created an Eclipse plugin that contributes to the UI by a new project wizard a new menu in the context menu of projects in the Package Explorer a new project nature + builder a new preference page for the plugin The plugin works fine when installed in a normal Eclipse instance with Flex/Flashbuilder as plugin. The problem now is, that the plugin never gets activated when i install it in a Flex/Flashbuilder Standalone instance. Neither of the features described above is available. But they appear under Configured features and Configured plug-ins. Starting FlashBuilder with -clean didn't solve the problem. (the start command is now "C:\Programme\Adobe\Flash Builder Beta\Gumbo.exe" -clean) My plugin depends on org.eclipse.ui, org.eclipse.core.runtime, org.eclipse.core.resources, com.adobe.flexbuilder.project com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.ui com.adobe.flexbuilder.ui All of these should be available, as i see it. (and an error should be generated if they were not, i hope)

    I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4. I've run into this issue with my latest project, but I was able to re-create it with an almost empty project. Here is what I've done. Created a new Flex Project Created a locale/en_US folder within this project. Added a class that extends SparkDownloadProgressBar. All this class does is attempt to create a Label. When I try to debug this application, I get the following error.
