  I found this code that replaces a string in a text file. But, I am trying to make it so that it replaces several strings in a text file. My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText("C:\windows\PrinterList2.txt", My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("C:\windows\PrinterList.txt").Replace("IT", "ADM-IT"), False) For example, I need it to replace "IT" with "ADM-IT" and "AR" with "ADM-AR" and possibly a hundred or so more. How can I get it to loop to do them all? Running this line of code over and over just overwrites the file with the last item for replacement. Thanks in advance.

• Select photo while keep the order

  I have a list of photo on the page, each have an unique id, user can click on them to toggle select the photo, when they click the submit button, I need to send the array of selected photo ids to the back end, in the order that the photo was selected. I think that the fastest way to track if a photo is selected is to use an object that use photo id as key, like: var selected = { "6272861": true, "6272888": true } when the user unselect a photo, I just need to delete selected["6272861"]. But this will ignore the order, if I use an array to keep the selected photos: var selected = ["6272861", "6272888"]; then when I need to unselect a photo, I have to loop through the array and delete the item. Is there better ways? thanks.

The List order should have two number entries, (ie. This is what I am doing at the moment.. end = smooth(data,window_len=40) plot.plot(time[0:len(end)],end) plot.savefig('hanning(40).pdf') #problem line I have to run the program for several different numbers instead of the two 40's.   I have an issue with the below code: the jQuery.each is speeding on without waiting for the JSON request to finish. As a result, the 'thisVariationID' and 'thisOrderID' variables are being reset by the latest iteration of a loop before they can be used in the slower getJSON function.   Is there a simple way to clear all fields of an instance from a an instance? I mean, I would like to remove all values assigned to the fields of an instance. ADDED From the main thread I start a window and another thread which controls state of the window (the last thread, for example, display certain panels for a certain period of time). I have a class which contains state of the window (on which stage the user is, which buttons he already clicked). In the end, user may want to start the whole process from the beginning (it is a game). So, I decided. So, if everything is executed from the beginning, I would like to have all parameter to be clean (fresh, unassigned). ADDED The main thread, creates the new object which is executed in a new thread (and the old thread is finished). So, I cannot create a new object from the old thread. I just have a loop in the second thread.

Say myClass has a string property "status". I'm searching my list with a for-loop and i get my object so i do myClass item = items[i]; if i want to change the "status" property, i do this for example : item.Status = "new status"; My question/issue is this: is "item" still linked to the list item, so that if i execute the line above, it will be changed in the list as well without having to set this : items[i] = item; Hope this is clear.   suppose a text file has 11001100 11001101 and i open the text file and take the input from the file as pt[0]=11001100, pt[1]=11001101.. but if i take the input from file as inpt it wont put it in two different arrays which is obvious but it takes the whole line . Thus I have to take another for loop and traverse through the whole string and when I find a null character i start putting into the second array . But how can I do it without putting it into a variable and traversing .. I mean directly from the file itself ..

  I'm a bit confused by the results of the following function: int main() { string command; while(1) { cin >> command; if(command == "end") return 0; else cout << "Could you repeat the command?" << endl; } return 0; } First of all - the output line ("could you...") repeats once for each individual word in the input (stored in command). So far as I can see, it should only be possible for it to happen once for each instance of the loop. Also, when the line 'if(command == "end")' is changed to 'if(command == "that's all")' it never triggers. A little testing suggested that all of the whitespace was removed from the command. Could someone explain to me what's going on here? Thanks

  Hi. If I have the following model: class Contact(models.Model) name = models.CharField(max_length=100) ... class ContactAddress(models.Model) line1 = models.CharField(max_length=100) line2 = models.CharField(max_length=100) ... contact = models.ForeignKey(Contact) I now want to grab all Contacts and for the address to be auto populated. What would be the best way to do this? The only way I have found so far is to filter out the Contacts I want and loop around each contact and assign this to Contact.addresses. I then use this for outputting each Contacts address within a template. Is there a better way of doing this? Select_related() almost does what I want, but doesn't seem to be able to work in the opposite direction. Thanks in advance for your help on this one!

  Basically i am playing with a plugin that allows future-dated posts on archive pages. My question is broader than this specific functionality, but everyone likes some context. I have my head around many of the plugin development concepts, but must be missing something very basic. Such as: for (i=0;i<10000000;i++) { str += 'a'; } And instead, I should use Array.join(), since it's much faster: var tmp = []; for (i=0;i<10000000;i++) { tmp.push('a'); } var str = tmp.join(''); However, I have also read that string concatention is ONLY a problem for Internet Explorer and that browsers such as Safari/Chrome, which use Webkit, actually perform FASTER is using string concatention than Array.join(). I've attempting to find a performance comparison between all major browser of string concatenation vs Array.join() and haven't been able to find one. As such, what is faster and more efficient JavaScript code? Using string concatenation or Array.join()?

• Removing the XML Formatter from ASP.NET Web API Applications

  ASP.NET Web API's default output format is supposed to be JSON, but when I access my Web APIs using the browser address bar I'm always seeing an XML result instead. When working on AJAX application I like to test many of my AJAX APIs with the browser while working on them. While I can't debug all requests this way, GET requests are easy to test in the browser especially if you have JSON viewing options set up in your various browsers. If I preview a Web API request in most browsers I get an XML response like this: Why is that? Web API checks the HTTP Accept headers of a request to determine what type of output it should return by looking for content typed that it has formatters registered for. This automatic negotiation is one of the great features of Web API because it makes it easy and transparent to request different kinds of output from the server. In the case of browsers it turns out that most send Accept headers that look like this (Chrome in this case): Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8 Web API inspects the entire list of headers from left to right (plus the quality/priority flag q=) and tries to find a media type that matches its list of supported media types in the list of formatters registered. In this case it matches application/xml to the Xml formatter and so that's what gets returned and displayed. To verify that Web API indeed defaults to JSON output by default you can open the request in Fiddler and pop it into the Request Composer, remove the application/xml header and see that the output returned comes back in JSON instead. An accept header like this: Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,*/*;q=0.9 or leaving the Accept header out altogether should give you a JSON response. Interestingly enough Internet Explorer 9 also displays JSON because it doesn't include an application/xml Accept header: Accept: text/html, application/xhtml+xml, */* which for once actually seems more sensible. Removing the XML Formatter We can't easily change the browser Accept headers (actually you can by delving into the config but it's a bit of a hassle), so can we change the behavior on the server? When working on AJAX applications I tend to not be interested in XML results and I always want to see JSON results at least during development. Web API uses a collection of formatters and you can go through this list and remove the ones you don't want to use - in this case the XmlMediaTypeFormatter. You can also look for the specific formatter (XmlMediatTypeFormatter) by its type name which is simpler, but it's better to search for the supported types as this will work even if there are other custom formatters added. Once removed, now the browser request results in a JSON response: It's a simple solution to a small debugging task that's made my life easier.
