  • Finding a ProjectItem by type name via DTE

    Given a type name, is it possible to use DTE to find the ProjectItem that the type is located in? Something similar to how the Navigate To... dialog works in Visual Studio 2010. The closest I could find is Solution.FindProjectItem, but that takes in a file name. Thanks!

  • uploadify and absolute filepaths ?

  • If I build a solution in C#, how do I add a database to the final program?

    Apologies if this is a very basic question, but I am preparing to create an executable for a Visual Studio C# Application. (My first time!) My application uses a database that I'm currently storing in SQL Server. This works fine while I'm coding since I created the database manually on my computer. I see that VS2008 has created an .exe in my bin/debug folder, but how do I ensure that any new users (that doesn't already have the database) doing a fresh install gets the database also?

    Is it possible to change a column type in a MS SQL 2008 database from varchar(255) to varchar(MAX) without having to drop the table and recreate? SQL Server Management Studio throws me an error every time I try to do it using that - but to save myself a headache would be nice to know if I can change the type without having to DROP and CREATE.   • AJAX POST problems with CKFinder

    We're using CKFinder for one of our sites, which has been working fine for us until we moved to a new dedicated server (which is similar but not exactly the same as the old server). Now we cant upload, the AJAX request simply never finishes. From monitoring it in Firebug it attempts to POST to here: http://www.site.com/temp/ckfinder/core/connector/php/connector.php?command=FileUpload&type=Files&currentFolder=%2F&hash=4f9cdbbb1e295966&langCode=en&= but never gets a response. This is the same CKFinder install on both WIMP servers, one works fine one doesnt. any idea where we should be looking to fix this problem? php.ini maybe? any help would be great as we havent a clue at this stage. I need to attach to each list item file (*.jpg) from a local folder.     Hi, If you are making a LinQ to entities expression for ClassA where A has a relation to ClassB like this: var temp = from p in myEntities.ClassA.Include("ClassB") where ... select p; You will get a set of ClassA:s with the reference to ClassB loaded. The thing in my case is that I dont really need to load ALL the ClassB-references, just a few of them. But I dont want to loop through the list of ClassA:s and load them individually, i want my database operations to be fewer and bigger instead of reading small chunks here and there. Is it possible to put some kind of restrictions on which references to include or do you have to accept this all or nothing style?

I was expecting them to be like normal widow dialog color. Any clue to make the property sheet, pages background to be like other normal MFC dialogs appears? I use Visual Studio 2008 MFC without .NET CLR.

  • Customizing toolbar items in VS2010

    Has the menu & toolbar customization functionality in VS2010 been reduced? I can't seem to be able to select an icon for an added command, nor set it to be icon-only. Previous versions of Visual Studio supported this functionality and even allowed the creation/editing of custom icons. Is this something that has suffered as a result of the move to the WPF-authored UI or am I missing something?

    Hello. Does anyone know how to show the progress of archives extracting, when using chilkat? I already have a progress bar called "progressBar1" on my form. At the moment the whole program freezes when extraction is started. Maybe have another thread?     I'm getting data where the database is hidden behind a WCF service. Is it possible to use Entity Framework in a scenario where I have custom objects coming from a web service? (No access to the external database, and no current plans for insert/update/delete logic) Starting with an empty EF model and adding an entity I get this error on compile: No mapping specified for instances of the EntitySet and AssociationSet in the EntityContainer .. Is it possible to make an entity this way, and fill it with data received from an object? (In this case a WCF, but could also be a predefined model class/xml data) If the web service retured a Customer object I could do something like this with a dataset: Make an unbound table and do a loop through the customer properties adding them to a temp row, add it with tbl_Customer.Addtbl_CustomerRow(customerRow) to get my view filled. thanks, nakori

It has the following structure: $/Code/MainSolution $/Code/Branches I want to branch the MainSolution in $/Code/Branches So I do it, (it works perfectly), I set a working folder for that project and do a 'get latest'. But when I open that solution in Visual Studio 2005 it identifies every file as new (+ sign in front of the file) and when I commit it it goes to $/Data/NameOfTheBranch Why does it do that? Why doesn't it follow MY rules?

I have the following insert statement: insert into symbol (sy_id, sy_fg_color, sy_bg_color, sy_icon) select 302, 0, 16245177, sy_icon = (select * from openrowset(bulk 'K:\mypath\icons\myicon.png', single_blob) as image) Is it possible to make the path relative in any way? I'm using TFS to deploy the database, so if it's not possible to make it relative with T-SQL, maybe it can be done with a little help from TFS/Visual Studio deploy?
