So my main questions are: What are the things to keep in mind while considering Migration Project ? Are there any specifics things that I need to keep in mind while considering migration from ColdFusion to Spring Framework ? How do ColdFusion stack up with Spring Framework ? What resources would you recommend to get myself familiar with before starting on Migration Project from ColdFusion to Spring ?     Hello everyone. I am designing a web application in ASP.NET / C# where each registered user has the ability to add/modify/delete rows based on their user-id. Take this example: I am going to edit my route on the page /route.aspx?routeid=854 which belongs to me (user-id: 1). But because I am a curious guy I try to access /route.aspx?routeid=855 which belongs to another user (user-id: 2). How can I best avoid people from accessing other peoples data? Should I send each user id (from session) with each database-call, should I validate user/password on every page load or what is the best and most secure approach? I hope I made this clear enough.

    Currently all web apps are deployed using seperate config files: <!-- <import bean.... production/> --> <import bean... development/> This has disadvantages, even if you only need to swap out one config file, that I'm sure everyone is familiar with (wondering what just deployed without searching through XML is one of them) I want to add Logging to my application that basically says 'RUNNING IN PRODUCTION MODE', with a description of the services deployed and what mode they are working in. RUNNING IN PRODUCTION MODE Client Service - Production Messaging Service - Local and so on... Is this possible in Spring using a conventional deployment (putting a war on a server)? What other things do people do to manage deployments and software configurations? If not, what other ways could you achieve something similar?

    Before migrating from ASP.NET WebForms I had a very good way to monitor all my application errors in the Events Log (Administrative Tools). But now after moving to asp.net MVC, all I get is the same mistake occurring every minute (something about Site Master). I know it's not right, because there are other mistakes, but they are not displayed. I purposefully put in division by zero operation, and it didn't track it. I had to implement the OnException method of a controller, and send e-mails with error details which is very inconvenient. How can I solve this problem?

    I've setup and deployed a simple forms authentication website with membership using .NET 4. I've created a virtual directory (now converted to "Application") in IIS7 and setup the web.config file in the virtual directory as follows: <system.webServer> <directoryBrowse enabled="true" /> </system.webServer> Great! I browse to the virtual directory: ../mydomain/books/ and I'm automatically redirected to the login page specified by web.config in my root directory and the url path is placed as follows: ../Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fbooks At this point, I login succesfully, but I am not redirected anywhere, and when I manually return to the directory, ../books, I'm sent back to the login page, where I'm already logged in? So I'm confused about what my problem is! I should be successfully authenticated, and than redirected back to the directory, or at the very least be able to view it manually after I log in right?

    My function is being passed a struct containing, among other things, a NULL terminated array of pointers to words making up a command with arguments. I'm performing a glob match on the list of arguments, to expand them into a full list of files, then I want to replace the passed argument array with the new expanded one. The globbing is working fine, that is, g.gl_pathv is populated with the list of expected files.   • Best way to structure AJAX for a Zend Framework application

    Sorry, but there's a lot of outdated and just plain bad information for Zend Framework, since it has changed so much over the years and is so flexible. I thought of having an AJAX module service layer, with controllers and actions that interact with my model. Easy, but not very extensible and would violate DRY. If I change the logistics of some process I'll have to edit the AJAX controllers and the normal controllers. So ideally I would load the exact same actions for both javascript and non-javascript users. I have thought about maybe checking for $_POST['ajax'], if it is set I would load a different (json'y) view for the data. Was wondering how/a good way to do this (front controller plugin I imagine?) or if someone can point me to an UP TO DATE tutorial that describes a really good way for building a larger ajax application. thx

    I have the following setup: http://www.example.com/dir1/ and http://www.example.com/dir2/ Each virtual directory is configured on IIS6.0 as an application with own AppPool. When redirecting authenticated user from dir1 to dir2 using response.redirect I lose authentication information for the user and the user is being redirected to the login page. This issue was not coming up with each app (dir1 and dir2) were configured under subdomain, ex: http://dir1.example.com and http://dir2.example.com. I have resolved the issue by adding a machine key to the machine.config file. Can someone explain to me why it's not working on a http://www.example.com/dir1 configuration?

    Hi all, i have a problem in iphone application that i have integrated google map and i am calculating center runtime so that the map shows both points on the iphone screen, the alogrithm applied (thanks to stackover flow) is working fine in case of 2 locations very far from each other. But it is not working for near locations and the zoom level goes too much that it is not able to show any images of those two near locations, so i want to put a check that if the location are very near to each other OR the google is not able to show the maps of the locations then it choose the default zoom level so that it shows the map on the screen instead of blank / black screen.     I have to build a pretty complex application using Backbone Marionette. The user interface has to handle multiple users with different roles. For example the 'admin' user will see the complete menu whereas the 'guest' user will access a subset of the same menu. Moreover some views will be accessible to all the users but the functions inside them (add, edit, delete) need to be profiled on the different roles. I am not sure about the right approach to use in order to solve this issue. I could have different templates for the different roles but in this case plenty of code will be duplicated inside them.     Hi, I am doing some trial testing awith Amazon ec2 boxes, deploying flex apps running on top of restlet powered webservices. I have this problem - Everytime i deploy the app to the cloud, I'm having to hardcode the IP address of the server into the ActionScript/MXML files (http://72.93.48.39:8080/xxx/abc/) and for certain reasons, i am forced to choose a different IP everytime. and i think its really not the right way to deploy the application. I would like to know what other people do in such scenarios? On thinking about it, i thought i could make it pickup values from the HTMLVars of the HTML wrapper. but that again has to be edited everytime again and again. will it be possible to be able to supply these values : server's ip address, server's port number(in case its not 8080 on some machine) at build time? if so can anyone give me a barbones sample build.xml just as an example?

But JAB said that crackers can search where my unique key is located by checking for binary differences, if the cracker has multiple copies of my software. Then crackers change that key to make them self anonymous. That is true. Now comes the question: If I want to add a unique key, are there tools to shuffle (a kind of obfuscation) the program modules? So, that a binary compare would say that the two files are completely different. So they can't locate the identifier key. I'm pretty sure it is possible (maybe by replacing assembler blocks and make some jumps). I think it would be enough to make 30 to 40 shuffles of my software. Thanks

  • iPhone not returning to application after calling eMail send

    I am sending an email from within my iPhone application. The eMail page pops up ok, I click on the Send button, the iPhone plays a whoosh sound, and the eMail actually arrives at the recipient. Unfortunately, the mail dialog still sits there unresponsive, and the only option - to click the home button - kills the app. Is there something else that needs to be specified to close the eMailMessage view?   • Xcode: How-to bind a key that triggers application to appear (background daemon)

    Hi, I am struggling to create a certain kind of application my Mac, using Xcode and Interface Builder (RubyCocoa). As I am a nuby (but understand some Ruby), I would like to know how I could let my interface appear only if a key is pushed (a toggle), while the program is running in the background. Similar behavior like when I'd press the F4-key to show Dashboard. Really neat would be if the program wouldn't be showing as running in the Dock, but as a funky icon in the top bar, like well "Growl". Thank you so much for your help, comments and feedback!
