• Setting checkstate on a ListWidgetItem

  Hi, I'm trying to create a list of checkbox items that change the status on activation. I can connect the activate signal and everything seems to work, but changes on the screen. Am I missing some steps here? • My presentation layer does not match my model layer even though I have no animations

  On iPhone I have a CALayer that I animate via Core Animation. Then at some point I change view controllers. I then return to the view controller with the CALayer and in viewWillAppear: I set the frame and position properties on my layer to move it back to its starting point. Setting these properties changes the model layer but the presentation layer still has the old values and its presentation layer does not update until the next animation I play. In the CA Programming guide it says "You can query an instance of CALayer for its corresponding presentation layer while an animation transaction is in process." Which, to me, implies that the presentation layer should only be different from the model layer during an animation. But there are no animations currently running. I even used kCATransactionDisableActions to ensure that when I set the position property an implicit animation is not started. Does anyone know why my presentation and model layers are out of sync?   I found that the "with rollup" option used with group by is very useful. But it does not behave with "order by" clause. Is there any way to order by the way I want as well as calculate the sub-totals? • How to write to the OpenGL Depth Buffer

  I'm trying to implement an old-school technique where a rendered background image AND preset depth information is used to occlude other objects in the scene. So for instance if you have a picture of a room with some wires hanging from the ceiling in the foreground, these are given a shallow depth value in the depthmap, and when rendered correctly, allows the character to walk "behind" the wires but in front of other objects in the room. So far I've tried creating a depth texture using: glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_DEPTH_COMPONENT, Image.GetWidth(), Image.GetHeight(), 0, GL_DEPTH_COMPONENT, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, pixels); Then just binding it to a quad and rendering that over the screen, but it doesnt write the depth values from the texture. I've also tried: glDrawPixels(Image.GetWidth(), Image.GetHeight(), GL_DEPTH_COMPONENT, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, pixels); But this slows down my framerate to about 0.25 fps... I know that you can do this in a pixelshader by setting the gl_fragDepth to a value from the texture, but I wanted to know if I could achieve this with non-pixelshader enabled hardware?

  I want my Food class to be able to test whenever it is equal to another class. I will later use it against a List, and I want to use its List.Contains() method. Should I implement IEquatable or just override Object.Equals()? From MSDN: This method determines equality by using the default equality comparer, as defined by the object's implementation of the IEquatable.Equals method for T (the type of values in the list). So my next question is: which functions/classes of the .NET framework make use of Object.Equals()? Should I use it in the first place? Thanks

  Can Automapper map values from a NameValueCollection onto an object, where target.Foo receives the value stored in the collection under the "Foo" key? I have a business object that stores some data in named properties and other data in a property bag. Different views make different assumptions about the data in the property bag, which I capture in page-specific view models. I want to use AutoMapper to map both the "inherent" attributes (the ones that always exist) as well as the "dynamic" attributes (the ones that vary per view and may or may not exist).

• Handling inverted pixels in bitmapData and bitmap class in as3

  I am using bitmapData and bitmap classes to render a mouse cursor on the display screen. The bitmapData consists of an area whose colors should be inverted according to the background color. This is a very basic thing which could be observed with text cursor(the vertical line with two small horizontals on top and bottom), when moved over the text area. I want to be able to do the same with the pixels in my bitmapData, is there a way to find out the background color effectively and invert the color values? In this process i will be redrawing the whole pixels, is there any other efficient way to do that ?

• Flex Force Decimal

  Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

• Weird IIS7 http redirection behavior

  I have a web server running Windows Server 2008 with IIS7. I have a bunch of websites which are all bound to the same IP address, but with different host header values. Most of the host headers are something like www.sitename.com. I also have a corresponding website entry for each which listens for the host "sitename.com" and does a redirect to "www.sitename.com" within IIS7 (to cater for non-www requests). Now this is all pretty straight forward, but I've noticed the when setting up the Http Redirection, some wierd things happen: Firstly, the "redirect" website entries must be pointed at a different physical directory than the site it's trying to redirect to, otherwise the redirection settings get set for both sites at once. Secondly, sometimes whilst setting up Http Redirection on an individual site, Http Redirection gets set at a server level, and all sites start redirecting to that one URL. How does this happen? Under what circumstances could setting Http Redirection on an individual site affect all sites? This is scary!!!

• "SELECT TOP", "LEFT OUTER JOIN", "ORDER BY" gives extra rows

  I have the following Access query I'm running through OLE DB in .NET: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblRegion.Region There are 431 records within tblClient that have RegionCode set to NULL. For some reason, the query above returns all these 431 records instead of the first 25. If I change the query to ORDER BY tblClient.Client (the name of the client) like so: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblClient.Client I get the expected result set of 25 records, showing a mixture of region names and NULL values. Why is it that ordering by a field retrieved through a LEFT OUTER JOIN will the TOP clause not work?

To retrieve the correct rows I've figured out the following queries: SELECT * FROM Person WHERE Person.Id in ( SELECT SportsPerPerson.PersonId FROM SportsPerPerson INNER JOIN Sports on SportsPerPerson.SportsId = Sports.Id WHERE Sports.Name = 'Tennis' ) AND Person.Id in ( SELECT SportsPerPerson.PersonId FROM SportsPerPerson INNER JOIN Sports on SportsPerPerson.SportsId = Sports.Id WHERE Sports.Name = 'Soccer' ) OR SELECT * FROM Person WHERE Id IN (SELECT PersonId FROM SportsPerPerson WHERE SportsId IN (SELECT Id FROM Sports WHERE Name = 'Tennis')) AND Id IN (SELECT PersonId FROM SportsPerPerson WHERE SportsId IN (SELECT Id FROM Sports WHERE Name = 'Soccer')) Now my question is, isn't there an easier way to write this query? Using just OR won't work because I need the person who play 'Tennis' AND 'Soccer'. But using AND also doesn't work because the values aren't on the same row.

• Is there a best-practice approach for internationalization of an application?

  We need to have our apps be translated into other languages. This entails renaming the .text properties of our visible controls as well as other literals found within our apps to whatever language we need to translate into. Is this something that can easily be accomplished with .resx files? I was thinking of creating a master resx key/value list where the key would be the fully qualified name of the control/variable/constant etc. and then refactor our apps to look into this file to get their values based on the cultureinfo found at runtime? Is there a standard or simpler approach to this problem?

• Where and which data to save into session on an ASP.NET MVC 2 application?

  I am having some trouble saving the state of my current view. Currenly I have several selectlist calling their own Action method on the controller that returns the Index view with the filtered model based on the values of the selectlist. I have also written a little FileResult action that creates a csv file based on the current model. But I am only covering one selectlist right now as I only save the value of selectList1 into the session and access it with Session["SelectListValue1"] What are the best practices in this situation? Should I redo the entire (each action for each SelectList) part? Should I save each SelectLists value into the session and check if it's null? Or should I just save the Lambda Expression into the session and modify it during every call?

  hello, searching a photo by dominant colors using mysql is quite simple. assuming that the r,g,b values of the most dominant colors of the photo is already stored in the database, this could be achieved for example by something like: SELECT * FROM colors WHERE ABS(dominant_r - :r) < :threshold AND ABS(dominant_g - :g) < :threshold AND ABS(dominant_b - :b) < :threshold i wonder, if it's anyhow possible to store the colors in sphinx and perform the querying using the sphinx search engine? thanks!

• Reading Excel spreadsheets with Delphi

  I need to read from and write to Excel spreadsheets using Delphi 2010. Nothing fancy. Just reading and writing values from specific cells and ranges on different sheets. Needs to work without having Excel installed and support Excel 2007. Some things I've looked at: I've tried using ADO, which works OK for selecting everything in an entire sheet, but I haven't had much luck reading specific cells or ranges. NativeExcel looked promising, but it doesn't seem to be in active development, and they don't respond to e-mails. Axolot has a couple of products. The main product seems to be very functional, but is pricey. They have a lite version, but it doesn't support Delphi 2010. Any recommendations? Free would be great, but I'm open to a commercial solution as long as it's reliable and well supported.

  Problem : How to redirect the user to a specific executed transaction screen in SAP? Generated the SAP shortcut and able to redirect the user to specific transaction screen. It is also possible to prefill the required input parameters. The corresponding line in the shortcut is- Command=AB12 RIWO00-input1=200001212; where AB12 is the trasaction, and input1 is the input parameter. This will open that SAP screen, with AB12 transaction and the input parameter would be filled with values. But this mandates the user to clicks on enter explicitly/click on execute button explicitly after opening through the shortcut file. Is it possible to include that enter also in the shortcut file?   Hello, I'm using JDBC to insert a row into a MYSQL database. I build a parameterized command, execute it and attempt to retrieve the auto generated keys as follows: String sql = "INSERT IGNORE INTO `users` (`email`, `pass-hash`) VALUES (?, ?)"; Connection conn = SQLAccess.getConnection(); PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setString(1, login); ps.setString(2, passHash); int count = ps.executeUpdate(); if (count == 1) { ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys(); rs.next(); //some more stuff... } For some reason, I get the following SQLException on the line containing ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys();: !Statement.Generated Keys Not Requested!   I was recently fighting some problems trying to compile an open source library on my Mac that depended on another library and got some errors about incompatible library architectures. Can somebody explain the concept behind compiling a C program for a specific architecture? I have seen the -arch compiler flag before and have seen values passed to it such as ppc, i386 and x86_64 which I assume maps to the CPU "language", but my understanding stops there. If one program uses a particular architecture, do all libraries that it loads need to be on the same architecture as well? How can I tell what architecture a given program/process is running under?

  In OptionParser I can make an option mandatory, but if I leave out that value it will take the name of any following option as the value, screwing up the rest of the command line parsing. Here is a test case that echoes the values of the options: $ ./test_case.rb --input foo --output bar output bar input foo Now leave out the value for the first option: $ ./test_case.rb --input --output bar input --output Is there some way to prevent it taking another option name as a value?
