• jsf flash.keep and redirects does not seem to work

  Hi, I am trying to use JSF 2.0 flash via redirects. I have a class named UserBean (ManagedScoped and RequestScoped). It has a method called getValuesFromFlash which essentially gets the values from the flash and sets the coresponding properties of the UserBean public void getValuesFromFlash() { Flash flash = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getFlash(); firstName= (String) flash.get("firstName"); lastName = (String) flash.get("lastName"); } In the entry page the <h:inputText> are bound to the flash. Was expecting one of: "}" ... "." If I remove the parenthesis from the expression #{userBean.getValuesFromFlash( )} and make it = #{userBean.getValuesFromFlash} javax.el.ELException: /done.xhtml: Property 'getValuesFromFlash' not found on type com.UserBean But why no property??It is a method! Why is the method not visible? What I am doing wrong here please? I am using JSF2.0 (MyFaces), Eclipse Helios and Tomcat 6 (Have also tried in Tomcat 7 but no luck). Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

• How do I handle a missing mandatory argument in Ruby OptionParser?

  In OptionParser I can make an option mandatory, but if I leave out that value it will take the name of any following option as the value, screwing up the rest of the command line parsing. Here is a test case that echoes the values of the options: $ ./test_case.rb --input foo --output bar output bar input foo Now leave out the value for the first option: $ ./test_case.rb --input --output bar input --output Is there some way to prevent it taking another option name as a value?   All, I have a simple windows form with a combobox and a 'OK' button. After clicking the 'OK' button, I want to retrieve the selected combobox value. The GetUserForm has 2 controls: combobox named cmbUser, with a list of 2 values button named btnOK Nothing has been done to the GetUserForm class itself. • optional local variables in rails partial templates: how do I get out of the (defined? foo) mess?

  I've been a bad kid and used the following syntax in my partial templates to set default values for local variables if a value wasn't explicitly defined in the :locals hash when rendering the partial -- <% foo = default_value unless (defined? foo) %> This seemed to work fine until recently, when (for no reason I could discern) non-passed variables started behaving as if they had been defined to nil (rather than undefined). As has been pointed by various helpful people on SO, http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Base.html says not to use defined? foo and instead to use local_assigns.has_key? :foo I'm trying to amend my ways, but that means changing a lot of templates. Can/should I just charge ahead and make this change in all the templates? Is there any trickiness I need to watch for? How diligently do I need to test each one?

  I am working in JTable and I have a requirement like this. Say There are 4 columns namely 10,20,30,40 Now the value usually comes like 10-20 20-30 and 30-40 So it was easy for us to display the name for this range. But recently the values have started to come randomly like 15-25 10-25,25-30 In this case our JTable should dynamically adjust the size of the row such that it represents that range only meaning it should not disturb the existing cells and only rows which diverge from the normal range. TO be more precise I should be able to merge and split cells based on the content of the cell.

  I have homework where I am to update a list using a function that takes two elements and returns a value of part of the first element given in the function. So it's required to update the entire listing by going through each element and update its value by applying the function against all other elements in the list (including itself). So far I've been trying to firstly map the list (so that each element is done the same) and then specifically update each elements value by mapping again just the value of the specified element however in trying to map just the specific value through: the function, the specific element and the entire list I keep getting complaints that I'm inferring the list of values made from the 'map function p@list list' rather than simply giving the value at p@list. Is this the correct method to try to update a list against the entire list itself? EDIT: spelling mistakes and grammar

• Creating Instance of a DataContract Class on the client side

  I'm not sure, if it's right to do this, but I'd like to ask this question again ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2498644/creating-instance-of-a-service-side-datacontract-class-on-client-side-in-wcf ). The main question is - why there's difference between creating instance on the client side and creating it on the server side? Why there're some properties, that lose their values when you create them on the client side and pass it to service's functions? What could be the issue? Any version will be appreciated.   Not sure if this is even possible but I have been looking at using Regex to get an email address that is in Hex. Basically this is to build up some of my automated forensic tools but I am having problems on making a suitable Regex algorithm. Regex for email: /^([a-z0-9_.-]+)@([\da-z.-]+).([a-z.]{2,6})$/ Hex values: @ = 40 . = 2E .com = 636f6d _ = 5f A/a = 41/61 [1] Z/z = 5a/7a - = 2d This is what I have got at the moment (it only takes into account lower case and .com). But it doesn't work! Have I messed something simple up? "/^([61-7a]+)40([61-7a]+)23(636f6d)$/" [1] I know email can only be lower case but I need to take uppercase into account too.

• Optimizing for speed - 4 dimensional array lookup in C

  I have a fitness function that is scoring the values on an int array based on data that lies on a 4D array. The profiler says this function is using 80% of CPU time (it needs to be called several million times). I can't seem to optimize it further (if it's even possible). Here is the function: unsigned int lookup_array[26][26][26][26]; /* lookup_array is a global variable */ unsigned int get_i_score(unsigned int *input) { register unsigned int i, score = 0; for(i = len - 3; i--; ) score += lookup_array[input[i]][input[i + 1]][input[i + 2]][input[i + 3]]; return(score) } I've tried to flatten the array to a single dimension but there was no improvement in performance. This is running on an IA32 CPU. Any CPU specific optimizations are also helpful. Thanks

• Make NSFormatter validate NSTextFieldCell continuously

  In Cocoa, I have an NSOutlineView where the cells are NSTextFieldCell. The cell displays values which are strings that are formatted according to certain rules (such as floats or pairs of floats with a space in between). I have made a custom NSFormatter to validate the text, and this seems to work with no problem. However, the cell (or the outline view, I'm unsure what is causing this) only seems to use the formatter at the moment my editing would end. If I type some alphabetic characters into the text field (which violates the formatting rules), these characters show up -- the only way I notice the formatter doing its job is that I'm now prevented from moving keyboard focus away from this cell. If I return the contents of the cell to a valid form, then I can move focus away. I have set both the cell and the outline view to be "continuous". It would be better if I was unable to enter text into the cell in the first place. Is it possible to make it like that, and if so, how?

I start with a MemberwiseClone and this copies all the values and few objects like configuration dictionary over just fine but they are pointers.   A quick tutorial on generating a huffman tree Confused about Huffman Trees. Near the end of that link above, it shows the tree with 2 elements left, and then the completed tree. I'm confused about the way that it is branched. Is there a specific way a huffman tree needs to be branched? For example, 57:* with its right child 35:* is branched off to the right. Could it have been 35 branched to the left with 22 branched to the right? Also, why wasn't 22:* paired up with 15:4 - it just paired with 20:5 to create a new tree. From initial obersvations it seems the tree does not need to be balanced or have any specific order other than that the frequencies of a leaf add up to the value of the parent node. Could two people creating a huffman tree with the same data end up with different encoding values?

  In my Delphi Project i want to have a 'Settings' button that when clicked, opens a second form (i think this is the correct term, i essentially want a new window to open) for settings. When the user has finished changing the settings on this new form, i want the form to close on a button click. The settings the user types in will also need to be accessible to the first, 'main' form. So, for example, if my programme consisted of a main form, that calculated 'A' + 'B' (A and B being integer variables), with the settings form allowing the user to set values for A and B, how would i do this?

In normal Java this results in tedious for loops, if statements etc... Are there alternative ways to achieve tree navigation, similar to XPath for XML? I know there is JXPath and OGNL, but do you know any other libraries for such purpose? Do you know any libraries which generate bytecodes for specific tree navigation expressions to make the processing as fast as Java native fors and ifs?
