  • Outline view from UITableView

    - by Raj
    Hi guys, I need to implement a 1 level outline view out of UITableView. The cells which have children in them will have a '+' symbol and if user taps on it, the cells below it should slide down and the children cells of current selected row should appear. The sliding of cells should be visible and if the user taps '-' button of the already expanded row, the children cells should slide back into the parent. I have tried googling but did not find any pointers. How should I start, should I subclass UITableView? Or should I implement my own view sub-class and handle all the stuff there? I somehow feel it would be easier to sub-class UITableView because it will handle all the row selection for us, but I cannot figure out how to do it. Thanks and Regards, Raj

  • How do I support the touch of the navigation bar label?

    - by iaefai
    I have an editor that I am making, and I need a way of editing the document's title. I was considering touching the title of the navigation item and have a custom view appear. I did this in an initial version of the application with a button bar item (and target/action), but I cannot seem to find a way to do it with the managed navigation bar. The alternative I was considering was putting another bar at the bottom with an item to do just that, but it doesn't seem like the best design if I don't need to do it, as it takes away from viewing space. • NSString to NSData Failing in Encoding

    - by Travis
    I'm trying to use NSXmlParser to parse ISO-8859-1 data. Using Apple's own example for parsing ISO-8859-1, I have the following. NSString *xmlFilePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:sampleFileName ofType:@"xml"]; NSString *xmlFileContents = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:xmlFilePath encoding:NSISOLatin1StringEncoding error:nil]; NSLog(@"contents: %@", xmlFileContents); I see that in the console, the contents of the string is accurate. However when I try to convert it to an NSData object (for use with the parser), I do the following. NSData *xmlData = [xmlFileContents dataUsingEncoding:NSISOLatin1StringEncoding]; But then when my didStartElement delegate gets called, I see  showing up which I think is from an encoding discrepancy. Can NSXmlParser handle ISO-8859-1 and if so, what am I doing wrong?

  • Adding UIView animation mysteriously changes starting frame

    - by clozach
    I'm working on an app that shows a thumbnail of a photo taken by the user. In order to show a seemless transition from the full-screen image shown in the UIImagePickerController to the thumbnail, I set the frame on my copy of the image to [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds] and then change the frame to match the frame of an invisible button. (The button allows users to re-take their photo by tapping the thumbnail image.) The trouble is that the starting x-origin of my UIImageView (imageView) is mysteriously starting nearly offscreen to the left: As you can see from the alert, the imageView purports to be located at (0,0), yet it's displaying at something like (-255,0). Here's the code: CGRect frame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]; imageView.frame = frame; [[[[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Yo!" message:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"starting frame:%@",NSStringFromCGRect(imageView.frame)] delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"K." otherButtonTitles:nil] autorelease] show]; // Slide the enlarged image seamlessly "onto" the photo button [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1000]; [UIView setAnimationDelay:.5]; imageView.frame = pictureButton.frame; [UIView commitAnimations]; As if to taunt me, the image actually does go full screen if I comment out the animation code: CGRect frame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]; imageView.frame = frame; [[[[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Yo!" message:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"starting frame:%@",NSStringFromCGRect(imageView.frame)] delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"K." otherButtonTitles:nil] autorelease] show]; // Slide the enlarged image seamlessly "onto" the photo button // [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; // [UIView setAnimationDuration:1000]; // [UIView setAnimationDelay:.5]; // // imageView.frame = pictureButton.frame; // // [UIView commitAnimations]; (Note: animationDuration will of course be set to something more like .5 in production, not 1000 seconds.) Update — Other weirdness worth mentioning in case it's relevant: It turns out the offset changes depending on the orientation of the camera when the photo was taken. If I take the picture with the phone upside-down, for instance, then the image gets offset vertically as well as horizontally. The picker seems to be filling the image's imageOrientation incorrectly: I have to hold the phone sideways, Home button on the left, to get an image with UIImageOrientationUp. At one point I experimented with setting imageView.clipsToBounds = YES;, which revealed that my image view's frame is in fact correct. Rather, it's the UIImage's placement within the UIImageView that gets offset. Fwiw, the image view's contentMode is the default, UIViewContentModeScaleToFill.

  • On-screen keyboard not appearing when editing text fields in a UIWebView

    - by andrewebling
    I have a web view which displays a simple login form, containing username and password fields. However when the user clicks in one of the text fields, although the cursor appears in the text field, the on-screen keyboard does not appear. I've tried registering for UIKeyboardWillShowNotifications notifications and I see this notification arrive, however the keyboard doesn't actually appear on the screen. I've also tried sending the web view to the back of the view hierarchy and changing it's frame so it doesn't occupy the whole screen. However neither of these measures have solved the problem. What would people recommend trying next?

  • Autoresize UIScrollView

    - by Sebastian
    I made a UIViewController, which programatically generates a UIScrollView. Everything's fine, but when I rotate the Device, the UIScollView should resize so it takes the complete width of my View. Is there a way to do that without rebuilding the complete UIScrollView ? Thx a lot ! Sebastian This is called in my viewDidLoad: -(void)buildmyScroller { myScroller = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 800, 768, 100)]; //...adding some subviews to myScroller thumbScroller.contentSize = CGSizeMake(3000, 100); [[self view] addSubview:myScroller]; } Then I tried to resize myScroller with this: -(void)changemyScroller { UIInterfaceOrientation interfaceOrientation = self.interfaceOrientation; if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) { [thumbScroller setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 805, 768, 150)]; } else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown){ thumbScroller.frame = CGRectMake(0, 805, 768, 150); } else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft){ thumbScroller.frame = CGRectMake(0, 549, 1024, 150); } else if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight){ thumbScroller.frame = CGRectMake(0, 549, 1024, 150); } } And called the method in didAnimateFirstHalf... cause I'm not shure where else to call it. Thx a lot again !!

  • NSURLConnection not "firing" until UITableView scrolls..

    - by Simon
    Hi, I've got a UITableView that loads an image asynchronously and places it in the UITableViewCell once it's loaded (I'm using almost the exact same code as in the "LazyTableImages" tutorial). This works fine for all images when I scroll the table, but it's not loading the images that are first in the view. The code is definitely working fine as the class that actually sends the NSURLConnection request is being called correctly (I added an NSLog and it reached the console). The NSURLConnection is just not calling the delegate methods (didReceiveData, connectionDidFinishLoading, etc). Here's my code: HomeController.m - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; NSArray *feed = [feeds objectAtIndex: indexPath.row]; /** * Name of person */ [...] /** * Feed entry */ [...] /** * Misc work */ [...] } FeedRecord *feedRecord = [self.entries objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; if( !feedRecord.image ) { if (self.table.dragging == NO && self.table.decelerating == NO) { [self startIconDownload:feedRecord forIndexPath:indexPath]; } cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"Placeholder.png"]; } return cell; } - (void)startIconDownload:(FeedRecord *)feedRecord forIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { IconDownloader *iconDownloader = [imageDownloadsInProgress objectForKey:indexPath]; if (iconDownloader == nil) { iconDownloader = [[IconDownloader alloc] init]; iconDownloader.feedRecord = feedRecord; iconDownloader.indexPathInTableView = indexPath; iconDownloader.delegate = self; [imageDownloadsInProgress setObject:iconDownloader forKey:indexPath]; [iconDownloader startDownload]; [iconDownloader release]; } } IconDownload.m #import "IconDownloader.h" #import "FeedRecord.h" #define kAppIconHeight 48 @implementation IconDownloader @synthesize feedRecord; @synthesize indexPathInTableView; @synthesize delegate; @synthesize activeDownload; @synthesize imageConnection; #pragma mark - (void)dealloc { [feedRecord release]; [indexPathInTableView release]; [activeDownload release]; [imageConnection cancel]; [imageConnection release]; [super dealloc]; } - (void)startDownload { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Started downloading", feedRecord.profilePicture); // this shows in log self.activeDownload = [NSMutableData data]; // alloc+init and start an NSURLConnection; release on completion/failure NSURLConnection *conn = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: [NSURL URLWithString:feedRecord.profilePicture]] delegate:self]; self.imageConnection = conn; NSLog(@"%@",conn); // this shows in log [conn release]; } - (void)cancelDownload { [self.imageConnection cancel]; self.imageConnection = nil; self.activeDownload = nil; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Download support (NSURLConnectionDelegate) - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Got data for", feedRecord.profilePicture); [self.activeDownload appendData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"%@",@"Fail!"); // Clear the activeDownload property to allow later attempts self.activeDownload = nil; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Done", feedRecord.profilePicture); // Set appIcon and clear temporary data/image UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:self.activeDownload]; self.feedRecord.image = image; self.activeDownload = nil; [image release]; // Release the connection now that it's finished self.imageConnection = nil; NSLog(@"%@ %@",@"Our delegate is",delegate); // call our delegate and tell it that our icon is ready for display [delegate feedImageDidLoad:self.indexPathInTableView]; } @end Has anyone else experienced anything like this or can identify an issue with my code? Thanks!

  • Cocos2D SpriteSheet animation problem, my number of frames is much larger.

    - by vaibhav-tekam
    Hello, I am trying to use SpriteSheet to run an animation. My frames are of 320x480 in size each, So I am able to put max 6 frames on the texture image. But my animation consists of frame number ranging from 50 to 200 sometimes, and all are of size 320x480. But this much number of frames cannot be added on the Texture image as the size is restricted to 1024x1024. Is there any other approach I can try out. Can I play one animation after the other.And won't it be hampering the performance. Please, I need suggestions. Best, Vaibhav Tekam.

  • Intercept back button on uinavigationcontroller?

    - by cannyboy
    A form is pushed onto the view. The form has several required fields. Also the form needs to be validated. I want to intercept the back button's click to check if the fields have been filled in, and validate the form. How would I intercept the button's click, and make sure it doesn't pop to the previous screen?

  • Clipped UITextField with UITextFieldAlignmentRight

    - by Typeoneerror
    Got a small problem with UITextField. I have a simple UITextField and when I set the textAlignment property to "right", it gets clipped by 1-2 pixels. It looks shite so I'm hoping someone has an idea of how to remedy this. I've tried setting the frame to integers to prevent them from being on .5 pixels. - (UITextField *)textControlForSetting:(NSDictionary *)settings { CGRect frame = CGRectIntegral(CGRectMake(100.0f, 0.0f, 170.0f, 44.0f)); UITextField *textField = [[[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; NSString *defaultValue = [settings objectForKey:kDefaultValueKey]; NSString *currentValue = [prefs objectForKey:[settings objectForKey:kSettingKey]]; textField.tag = settingsCounter; textField.delegate = self; textField.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentRight; textField.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"HelveticaNeue" size:14.0f]; textField.contentVerticalAlignment = UIControlContentVerticalAlignmentCenter; textField.placeholder = (currentValue != nil) ? currentValue : defaultValue; settingsCounter++; return textField; }

  • How do I set an Array in one class with another array in another class in Objective-C

    - by Stef
    Hi Guys, I've populated and array with data like this in one class... PowerClass .h NSMutableArray pickerArray; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray pickerArray; - PowerClass .m @synthesize pickerArray; @implementation NSMutableArray *array = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"stef", @"steve", @"baddamans", @"jonny", nil]; pickerArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:array]; And I'm trying to set the Array in another class WeekClass .h PowerClass *powerClass; NSMutableArray *pickerData; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray pickerData; @property (nonatomic, retain) PowerClass *powerClass; WeekClass .m @implementation pickerData = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:powerClass.pickerArray]; I have no errors or warnings. It just crashes. The NSLog says that the powerClass.PickerArray is Null... I don't know why this is... Please help point me in the right direction... Thanx guys Stef :-)

  • View outlet not set with UINavigationController

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a NIB that contains a UINavigationController which has a UIViewController. The UIViewController is being loaded externally from another nib. I am unable to set the view property thus I get the error: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "LBRootViewController" nib but the view outlet was not set.' How can I set my view property correctly?

  • Objective-C partial implementation of classes in separate files

    - by Aran Mulholland
    I am using core data and am generating classes from my data model. I implement custom methods in these classes, however when i regenerate i generate over the top so i end up copying and pasting a bit. What i would like to do is split my implementation files ('.m') so i can have one header file with multiple '.m' files. then i can keep my custom methods in one and not have to worry about erasing them when i regenerate. I use this technique in .NET a lot with its partial keyword. Is there anything similar in objective-C

  • add animation to layer's path in cocos2d

    - by greg rock
    so i'm on cocos2d but before I was on a normal ios app and I had this code : -(void)viewDidLoad{ rootLayer = [[CALayer alloc] init]; [imageView.layer addSublayer:rootLayer]; roundPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(roundPath, nil, center.x , center.y - 35); CGPathAddArcToPoint(roundPath, nil, center.x + 35, center.y - 35, center.x + 35, center.y + 35, 35); CGPathAddArcToPoint(roundPath, nil, center.x + 35, center.y + 35, center.x - 35, center.y + 35, 35); CGPathAddArcToPoint(roundPath, nil, center.x - 35, center.y + 35, center.x - 35, center.y, 35); CGPathAddArcToPoint(roundPath, nil, center.x - 35, center.y - 35, center.x, center.y - 35, 35); CGPathCloseSubpath(roundPath); //Box Path boxPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(boxPath, nil, center.x , center.y - 35); CGPathAddArcToPoint(boxPath, nil, center.x + 35, center.y - 35, center.x + 35, center.y + 35, 4.7); CGPathAddArcToPoint(boxPath, nil, center.x + 35, center.y + 35, center.x - 35, center.y + 35, 4.7); CGPathAddArcToPoint(boxPath, nil, center.x - 35, center.y + 35, center.x - 35, center.y, 4.7); CGPathAddArcToPoint(boxPath, nil, center.x - 35, center.y - 35, center.x, center.y - 35, 4.7); CGPathCloseSubpath(boxPath); shapeLayer = [CAShapeLayer layer]; shapeLayer.path = boxPath; [rootLayer addSublayer:shapeLayer]; } -(void)startAnimation { CABasicAnimation *animation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"path"]; animation.duration = 2.0; animation.repeatCount = HUGE_VALF; animation.autoreverses = YES; animation.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; animation.fromValue = (id)boxPath; animation.toValue = (id)roundPath; [shapeLayer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"animatePath"]; } But I didn't found a way to do the animation fromboxpath toroundpath on cocos2d, I don't know what CCAction use .   • Using mergedModelFromBundles: and versioning (CoreData)

    - by charlax
    Hi everybody, I'm trying to use the migration feature in CoreData. I've followed the Apple Documentation. I have a problem in the following method: /** Returns the managed object model for the application. If the model doesn't already exist, it is created by merging all of the models found in the application bundle. */ - (NSManagedObjectModel *)managedObjectModel { if (managedObjectModel != nil) { return managedObjectModel; } /* * NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil' * 2010-02-17 16:27:15.338 Patrimoine[3037:207] */ managedObjectModel = [[NSManagedObjectModel mergedModelFromBundles:nil] retain]; return managedObjectModel; } It appears that there is the same problem on http://iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2009/09/core-data-migration-problems.html Yet I did choose the method Apple suggests, by using the menu option "Add Model Version". Do you have any idea?

  • Subview position issue after UIOrientation (rotation) change

    - by asadqamber
    I have a viewController and have added a subview in it programatically. secondView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; [self.view addSubview:secondView]; I guess when the device rotates, my mainViewController knows that orientation changed, but the subview (secondView) inside the mainViewController does not know this, so I change its frame to landscape size in willRotateToInterfaceOrientation. secondView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 480 , 260); This does not set in the correct position, it's 11 px below the NavigationBar. Why does it start from 11 px below the navigation bar? The navigation bar shrinks when we move from portrait to landscape mode and its because of this that my subview is 11px below.

  • UITableView and SearchBar problem

    - by dododedodonl
    Hi all, I'm trying to add a Search bar to my UITableView. I followed this tutorial: http://clingingtoideas.blogspot.com/2010/02/uitableview-how-to-part-2-search.html. I'm getting this error if I type a letter in the search box: Rooster(10787,0xa05ed4e0) malloc: *** error for object 0x3b5f160: double free *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug. This error occurs here: - (BOOL)searchDisplayController:(UISearchDisplayController *)controller shouldReloadTableForSearchString:(NSString *)searchString { [self handleSearchForTerm:searchString]; return YES; } (on the second line) - (void)handleSearchForTerm:(NSString *)searchTerm { [self setSavedSearchTerm:searchTerm]; if ([self searchResults] == nil) { NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [self setSearchResults:array]; [array release]; } //Empty the searchResults array [[self searchResults] removeAllObjects]; //Check if the searchTerm doesn't equal zero... if ([[self savedSearchTerm] length] != 0) { //Search the whole tableList (datasource) for (NSString *currentString in tableList) { NSString *klasString = [[NSString alloc] init]; NSInteger i = [[leerlingNaarKlasList objectAtIndex:[tableList indexOfObject:currentString]] integerValue]; if(i != -1) { klasString = [klassenList objectAtIndex:(i - 1)]; } //Check if the string matched or the klas (group of school) if ([currentString rangeOfString:searchTerm options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch].location != NSNotFound || [klasString rangeOfString:searchTerm options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch].location != NSNotFound) { //Add to results [[self searchResults] addObject:currentString]; //Save the klas (group of school). It has the same index as the result (lastname) NSString *strI = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%i", i]; [[self searchResultsLeerlingNaarKlas] addObject:strI]; [strI release]; } [klasString release]; } } } Can someone help me out?
