• Using Navigation Controller in a subview of View based Applicatin

  Some one please help me with this. I am developing an iPhone app and have stared with View Based Application. I have buttons on my root view screen to take user to other views with their own nibs and classes. On one of those views I need to display a table getting data from SQLite database and then display detail of the selected item depending on the selection from the table. At later stage I also need to add forms to add data. Now, how to add a Navigation Controller in that view for drill down? Can we convert a View Controller to Navigation Controller just by adding a Navigation bar at the top?

• Firefox 3.6.3 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - symbolic link to command line binary doesn't work?

  I have Firefox 10.6.3 installed on Mac OS X Snow Leopard from the DMG. I can run firefox from the terminal using /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin. However, if I create a symbolic link: sudo ln -s /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin /bin/firefox then it refuses to run, or at least display. When I issue "firefox" from the terminal, I can see the process in top, but never get the GUI to appear. :/ = ls -lr /bin/firefox lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 52 May 5 15:19 /bin/firefox - /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin Any ideas? I want to detect whether foo.com is visited without directly looking at $('1').getComputedStyle (or in Internet Explorer, currentStyle), or any other direct method on that element. The purpose of this is to get around a potential browser restriction that would prevent direct inspection of the style of visited links. For instance, maybe you can put a sub-element in the <a> tag, or check the styling of the text directly; etc. Any method that does not directly or indierctly rely on $('1').anything is acceptable. Doing something clever with the child or parent is probably necessary. Note that for the purposes of this point only, the scenario is that the browser will lie to JavaScript about all properties of the <a> element (but not others), and that it will only render color: in :visited. Therefore, methods that rely on e.g. text size or background-image will not meet this requirement. I want to improve the speed of my current scraping methods. The majority of time (at least with the jQuery method in Firefox) is spent on document.body.appendChild(batch), so finding a way to improve that call would probably most effective.   Hello, all. I am inspecting the JSON module of python 3.1, and am currently in /Lib/json/scanner.py. At the top of the file is the following line: from _json import make_scanner as c_make_scanner There are five .py files in the module's directory: __init__ (two leading and trailing underscores, it's formatting as bold), decoder, encoder, scanner and tool. There is no file called "json". My question is: when doing the import, where exactly is "make_scanner" coming from? Yes, I am very new to Python!

• Linq : problem with primary key

  I get the following error message The table/view 'TABLE1' does not have a primary key defined and no valid primary key could be inferred. This table/view has been excluded. To use the entity you will need to review your schema, add the correct keys and uncomment it when I try to add a view to an Entity Data Model. For testing, I have created a very simple view and I still get the error. below is the view definition SELECT DISTINCT TOP (100) PERCENT MIN(id) AS Expr4, MIN(EmpNo) AS Expr1, MIN(Name) AS Expr2, MIN(Category) AS Expr3 FROM dbo.MYView1 GROUP BY id does any one know of a simple work around. • MouseWheel: Scrolling vs. Zooming

  I've got a Silverlight 4 custom control that basically is several Canvas elements wrapped inside a ScrollViewer. The user can set a property to determine whether to scroll or zoom when using their mouses wheel. In the custom control's MouseWheel event, I check to see if they want to scroll or zoom. If zooming, I determine the delta and modify the custom control's zoom level (which then handles the zooming code for me). The problem is that zooming won't start until the ScrollViewer's current position of the vertical scrollbar is at the top or bottom of the scrollbar. Once their, then the zooming works perfectly. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prevent scrolling completely so that I only zoom (when the user wants to zoom, that is)? Thanks!

  Hello, I would like to create a drawable in XML that should include: image drawable color drawable The color drawable provides white transparent color. So, as a result we would have image with some white transparent layer on top. • Unable to display data in a WPF datagrid that has a DataView instance as the items source

  I am using a DataGrid object from the WPF toolkit. I am binding the DataGrid object to the default view of a DataTable instance as declared in the following code: WeatherGrid.ItemsSource = weatherDataTable.DefaultView; weatherDataTable has three columns. The first column is defined to contain a string data type. The other two columns are defined to contain double data types. When the application exits the function that calls the binding as expressed in the declaration, The DataGrid object displays data for the first column, but not the other columns. When I type the following in the immediate window in the debugger: ((DataRowView)WeatherGrid.Items[0]).Row[1] I get a number, but this doesn't correspond with what is being displayed. Why is only the first column visible, and how can I get all of the data to be visible? • Preserving multi-byte characters in Flex XML object

  I'm having an issue with the Flex XML object type mangling multi-byte characters (such as Japanese or Chinese characters). The basic setup is this. I'm getting an XML-formatted string from the server, and in that string there can be multi-byte characters. A lot of the time, these characters are in attributes, for example: <example id="foo" name="[some multi-byte characters]"/> Now, when I examine the raw string, the multi-byte characters display just fine. However, as soon as I convert the string to an XML object using the top-level XML() function, all the multi-byte characters become mangled. I've tried setting the XML's encoding by including an <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> element in the XML-formatted string, but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the resulting XML object. Is there a way to get the XML object to respect the encoding of the XML-formatted string and prevent the multi-byte characters from being mangled?

  I have a pdf page displayed with CGContextDrawPDFPage in QuartzDemo sample application. I want to keep this page shown and have an image slide in from top over this page, just as it can be seen in the iBooks application. It's a book, the sliding image is a bookmark that slides in when you are about to close the book. • ASP.NET 3.5 Web Site stopped importing System namespace by default

  I have a VB Web Site project that has recently (and mysteriously) stopped importing the "System" namespace by default. I'm having to either place a "Imports System" line at the top of each code behind, or preface everything with "System", which is fairly annoying, not to mention redundant. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the System namespace back to being imported by default. I've already checked to see that WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\web.config contains the <add namespace="System"/> line--it does. That was my best lead. I'm tearing my hair out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

• Google Translate Widget fails in Firefox

  I am attempting to implement the Google Translate Widget where you include a piece of javascript code into your page and it gives you a language dropdown. This was very straightforward however, it does not work in Firefox. It works in IE, Safari, Chrome. Has anybody experience this problem and is there any workaround? With some research, it seems that people said that it used flash. However, I don't have any flashblock installed or anything like that. • Take screenshot of DirectX full-screen application

  This boggles me. DirectX bypasses everything and talks directly to the device driver, thus GDI and other usual methods won't work - unless Aero is disabled (or unavailable), all that appears is a black rectangle at the top left of the screen. I have tried what other have suggested on several forums, using DirectX to get the back buffer and save it, but I get the same result: device-GetFrontBufferData(0, surface); D3DXSaveSurfaceToFile("fileName", D3DXIFF_BMP, surface, NULL, NULL); Is there any way to get a screenshot of another full-screen DirectX application when Aero is enabled?

• FBA site owner encounter access deny in sharepoint 2007

  I created a sharepoint 2007 publishing site first using windows authentication, then extended it to another site using FBA. I created a FBA user and set it as site collection admin as well as top site owner. I also make application pool which the FBA site is running in to run with a user account which is within administrator group. But I encounter access deny error when browsing certain links using this site owner account. Is there other settings I need to configure? I found in the web.config, the impersonation is set to true. How does this affect the access rights?

  What I want to do is quite simple: store data in a custom config file that I want to read later on. I created my file something.yml that I put in the global config directory. It looks like that: prod: test: ok dev: test: ko all: foo: bar john: doe Then I copied the config_handlers.yml and also put it in the config directory and added the following at the top of the file: config/something.yml: class: sfDefineEnvironmentConfigHandler param: prefix: something_ But if I'm calling sfConfig::get("something_foo"); I keep getting NULL. What did I do wrong? I just want to read values, so no need to create a custome config handler, right? I've read the doc here: http://www.symfony-project.org/book/1_2/19-Mastering-Symfony-s-Configuration-Files even though I'm running 1.4 (I don't think that changed since then). Edit: Of course I can use sfYaml::load() but I'd like to do things in a better way.

• jQuery CSS Custom Flyout Menu Styling Issue

  I'm close to nailing this flyout menu I have been working on, just have a couple of current pain points. I'm trying to get left/right padding on my submenu items, as you can see I am not quite there. Also when the first submenu is displayed, I want to create a bit of a gap between the first row of list items and the child. Below is my current code and a screen shot displaying what I want. • Find height of ContextMenuStrip before showing it

  I have a ContextMenuStrip (ctMenuMassEdit) that I want to display when left-clicking a button (btnMassEdit). I want the ContextMenuStrip to be displayed above the button, i.e. position (0,-ContextMenuStrip.Height) relative to the button: private void btnMassEdit_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ctMenuMassEdit.Show(btnMassEdit, new Point(0, -ctMenuMassEdit.Height)); } However, the Height property is 0 the first time the button is clicked (I assume the ContextMenuStrip isn't created before it is shown the first time), and the result is that the ContextMenuStrip appears on top of the button. The 2nd time I click the button however, it appears in the correct position, so the basic of my logic is at least correct. I tried adding the following before showing the ContextMenuStrip, but it didn't work as hoped: if (!ctMenuMassEdit.Created) { ctMenuMassEdit.CreateControl(); } So, is there a way I can create the ContextMenuStrip before showing it the first time, so I have the correct Height property? I could of course use the hack of showing it, hiding it and showing it again, but that doesn't seem really neat...

• WPF, animate over container boundaries

  Hi, I'm learning WPF and have a specific goal. Imagine you have a grid (3 rows by 3 columns), and a control, say a simple blue rectangle fills the middle cell. When I click on the cell I want the square to rotate smoothly through 180 degrees. The specific issue I have at the moment is; as the rectangle rotates, it won't change its dimensions, so it will extend beyond the boundary of the cell. I don't want it to clip, i want it to appear on top, partially obscuring surrounding cells. The second part of this is, if there is one cell that fills the entire window, and I click on the blue rectangle in that cell, can I make the rectangle rotate and extend beyond the sides of the form? If that doesn't make sense, please ask. I'm finding it hard to google because I don't know the exact terms I should be using. Thank you

• Add Today's Date to SharePoint Master Page

  Surely there must be a simple way of putting a simple code block into a master page :( I've tried using the obvious <%= "Hello, World!" %> syntax but code blocks aren't allowed. Then tried a site column, but don't know how to use them. Then tried web zones but master pages can't use them. Tried putting a web part (which are super difficult to make and deploy btw) into the page layout, but it just doesn't render :/ All I want is something nice and simple at the top of my site which shows today's date and the format I want to use is DateTime.Today.ToString("ddd, d MMMM yyyy") (Otherwise I'm resorting to javascript document.write!) • Overload method (specifically drawRect:) without subclassing.

  I'm using a container UIView to house a UIImageView and do some custom drawing. At this point I'd like to do some drawing on top of my subview. So overriding drawRect: in my container UIView will only draw below the subviews. Is there a way to overload drawRect: in my subview without subclassing it? I think method swizzling may be the answer, but I'm hoping not. (NOTE: yes, it would have been smarter to have the UIView be the subview of the UIImageView, but unfortunately I'm committed to my mistake now.)

I have looked at the first 50 top google links for this, and they seem to agree that doctest uses it's own copy of the stdout. If print is used it works if logger is used it logs to the root console. Can someone please demonstrate a working example with a code snippet that will allow me to combine. Note running nose to test doctest will just append the log output at the end of the test, (assuming you set the switches) it does not treat them as a print statement.
