• Can't access Postfix TLS/SSL

  I have set up my Postfix, with TLS/SSL, correctly. Every test on the machine itself (with telnet) runs fine. However, when I want to access the server from somewhere else, it fails. So port 587 and the rest is blocked for some reason, but I don't really know where.

For example I had the user icon (the one with the logoff/shutdown sub menu) somewhere in the middle of the top menubar after installing. After a while it moved automatically to the end of the menubar. Q1: How can I restore it to the initial position? Q2: How can I prevent it from moving the icons as it likes?

• Circle values that don't match any of the ones in a dropdown list

  I created a dropdown list with values and assigned them to one of the columns in a table. When I changed a few, then changed the name of items in the list and removed some I accidentally did some key combination somewhere around Ctrl+Z or Ctrl+Y and Excel highlighted cells in the table that had a value not on the list. The highlighting looks like a red oval around each such cell. How can I toggle it on and off?

  I have a .NET application that receives messages from a web server and alerts the user. I have one Windows XP SP3 computer that when my application receives the message, it crashes the Windows Explorer shell. (I can see the message received in the listview just before Explorer crashes.) I don't see any errors in the Windows event logs. Is there somewhere that I should be looking at to troubleshoot this problem?

• Where does vista's Notes gadget store your notes?

  I like to use the default notes gadget in vista, and I want to sinchronize my notes between my PC and my laptop. I'm gonna use dropbox, so I just need to know where does the gadget store my notes. I looked inside the Appdata folder and couldn't find the actual notes (only config files). Does anyone know where they are? They have to be stored somewhere, since they are saved even if you close the sidebar. Thanks

  I have a Windows Vista laptop that won't boot at all. On the D: drive I have DriveImage XML images of C: drive, but I don't have a BartPE boot CD and I don't have a Vista install CD. How can I image the C: using the images on D: if I can't make a BartPE CD because I can't boot to Windows? Is there a BartPE (with DriveImage XML plugin) iso I can download from somewhere, or what can I do? Thanks.

• Samba creates two files on copy of one file

  Hi, I've set up Samba share on a Centos system and all works fine except whenever I copy a file to a share it makes two files, the actual file and what looks to be a log file, which has an appending ._ on the front of it. So for example if I copy index.php it copies that one, plus it creates ._index.php with semi looking log info in it. How do I stop Samba doing this? I'm sure its in smb.conf somewhere but can't find it. Cheers

  I have a remote server that doesn't have any IP KVM capabilities, meaning I can't remotely power cycle it or access the BIOS. I saw that ASUS offers something for their motherboards here: http://www.asus.com/Server_Workstation/Accessories/ASMB5iKVM/ But is there anything like this available for other motherboards? Even something that I could stash away somewhere in a hard drive bay that simply plugs into the board would be great.

  I need to be able to set the date on Ubuntu (8.04.4 LTS) to the year 2040 (to test something that isn't relevant to this question). Is that possible? I can run: $ sudo date -s "15 JAN 2038 18:00:00" Fri Jan 15 18:00:00 PST 2038 ...but: $ sudo date -s "15 JAN 2039 18:00:00" date: invalid date `15 JAN 2039 18:00:00' Is the limit somewhere in 2038 (or prior to Jan. 15, 2039)? Does this change with different versions of Linux?

  I need two different versions of ruby on a server. The packaged ruby for the packaged puppet to work, and a compiled ruby for a rails web app to work. So basically I want the default ruby to be the ruby from the package, and for rails to use the compiled ruby (in /usr/local/bin/ and /usr/local/lib/ ) I've found references to setting the RUBYPATH and RUBYLIB environment variables, but I'm confused as to where to set them.   I read somewhere that you only need an active adapter (usb powered) if you want resolutions greater than 1920x1200. I also heard from someone that you need it when running triple-monitor because more than two displays drains too much power. So to connect a 3rd monitor @ 1920x1200 to my video card's DisplayPort Port, do I need to spend the extra $100 and buy the active adapter?

To start the http interface you need to add the 'set httpd ...' statement to theconfiguration. is that still correct? that post was from 2005

  I have recently some issues with people using my email server. They have problems with synchronizing folders on outlook, and I can't figure out what to do. I found somewhere that I could extend a setting for imap connections: mail_max_userip_connections = 20 which didn't really help, I was thinking about extending timeout of connection or something, but really can find anything like that. Where in the registry can I find what license key was used for that PC's Visual Studio 2008 installation? I would imagine that it is in the registry somewhere.
