  • How to Work Around Limitations in Generic Type Constraints in C#?

    Okay I'm looking for some input, I'm pretty sure this is not currently supported in .NET 3.5 but here goes. I want to require a generic type passed into my class to have a constructor like this: new(IDictionary<string,object>) so the class would look like this public MyClass<T> where T : new(IDictionary<string,object>) { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { return new T(values); } } But the compiler doesn't support this, it doesn't really know what I'm asking. Some of you might ask, why do you want to do this? Well I'm working on a pet project of an ORM so I get values from the DB and then create the object and load the values. I thought it would be cleaner to allow the object just create itself with the values I give it. As far as I can tell I have two options: 1) Use reflection(which I'm trying to avoid) to grab the PropertyInfo[] array and then use that to load the values. 2) require T to support an interface like so: public interface ILoadValues { void LoadValues(IDictionary values); } and then do this public MyClass<T> where T:new(),ILoadValues { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { T obj = new T(); obj.LoadValues(values); return obj; } } The problem I have with the interface I guess is philosophical, I don't really want to expose a public method for people to load the values. Using the constructor the idea was that if I had an object like this namespace DataSource.Data { public class User { protected internal User(IDictionary<string,object> values) { //Initialize } } } As long as the MyClass<T> was in the same assembly the constructor would be available. I personally think that the Type constraint in my opinion should ask (Do I have access to this constructor? I do, great!) Anyways any input is welcome.

    Hi everyone, I just want to use Collections.sort or Arrays.sort to sort a list of points (class Point) by x first and then by y. I have a class Ponto that implements Comparable like this: public int compareTo(Ponto obj) { Ponto tmp = obj; if (this.x < tmp.x) { return -1; } else if (this.x > tmp.x) { return 1; } return 0; } but now I want to sort by y too after x. How can I do that by modifying the above code? Or is that a better and "clean" way to do this? I also use to pass this code to C++, in which I've created a structure called Point with a equivalent comparable method.

    Hey Guys, I am trying to generate a full rss feed, however when loading the feed in Mail, it just shows the title, with a read more link at the bottom. I have tried several different options. But none seem to work. I would like to generate the feed with a combination of several feeds in my modl.     hi, i have an webserivce written where i do an insertion opertion to DB. path :http://localhost:1838/Ajax/WebService.asmx?wsdl.name of the webservice is localhost i have added webservice for the project now on button click event i try to call this webserice like this localhost obj= new localhost(); obj.insert(); now i am able to do the insertion operation fine. but i wanted to create an proxy for the webservice so wat is the use of it doing like tat? when i run this command in my command prompt in vs wsdl /out:myProxyClass.cs http://localhost:1838/Ajax/WebService.asmx?WSDL i get an error unable to connect the remote server. no connection would be made because the target machine actively refused it looking forward for an solution any help would great thank you

I'm trying to read this file but it throws me an exception telling that it's not serializable.     I am trying to extract information from Rhythmbox via dbus, but I only want to do so, if Rhythmbox is running. Is there a way to check if Rhythmbox is running via Python without starting it if it is not running? Whenever I invoke the dbus code like this: bus = dbus.Bus() obj = bus.get_object("org.gnome.Rhythmbox", "/org/gnome/Rhythmbox/Shell") iface = dbus.Interface(obj, "org.gnome.Rhythmbox.Shell) and Rhythmbox is not running, it then starts it. Can I check via dbus if Rhythmbox is running without actually starting it? Or is there any other way, other than parsing the list of currently running processes, to do so?

    Hey guys, I want to use the argument I pass (this) in a JS function and treat it as an jQuery variable. Example: <script> function useMe(obj){ $(obj).val(); ... ... ... } </script> <select id="selectid" onChange="useMe(this)"> <option>......</option> </select> Is there a possibility to treat the passed argument as a jQuery element? Btw. I need to do it this way, because the select-element isn't created on load. The select element will be created later asynchronously.     I have a small project where I need just part of boost library, boost::regex in particular. This is what I've done so far: /include /boost /regex /math .. 189 dirs, files, etc. /lib /boost-regex c_regex_traits.cpp cpp_regex_traits.cpp .. ~20 .cpp files myprog.cpp In my Makefile I compile all boost-regex .cpp files one by one, producing .obj files. Next, I'm building my project by means of compiling myprog.cpp together with all that .obj files from /lib/boost/regex. The question is whether I'm doing everything correct? The size of my output file is rather big (~3.5Mb), while my code is extremely small (10 lines).

I have run and compiled example programs with shaders, so I doubt my drivers are the issue, but in any case I'm on a Nvidia 8600m GT. Can anyone help?

Assembly #2 references Assembly #1. Assembly #1 references DLL. If I compile the DLL with /clr and reference it directly from Assembly #2, it makes no difference. How, from C#, do I execute myMethod ?

  • How to write own DLL in Visual Studio, C language (not C++)

    Dear all, I'm trying to create my own DLL... I used wizzard in VS2008 to create template for DLL. This works fine and the dll builds successfully (Test.dll is created). BUT, when I rename the file from Test.cpp to Test.c (which I guess causes compilation in C-mode), solution rebuilds also successfully, but no .dll is created. The list of all created files follows: mt.dep BuildLog.htm vc90.idb Test.dll.embed.manifest Test.dll.intermediate.manifest Test.obj MySecondCFile.obj vc90.pdb Test.dll.embed.manifest.res For my purposes it's essential that the dll be in C not C++, while I already have a lot of code written in C, which does not compile as C++. Do you know, why .dll is not created? What should I do?

    I use Spring 3 to make a simple configuration. I have an XML file called PropertyBeans.xml like that : <bean id="propertyBean" class="com.myapp.PropertyBean"> <property name="rootDirLogPath" value="C:\Users\dede" /> </bean> I have the bean which match this XML and then I want to use this bean with the value injected. Actually I have : ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("AppPropertyBeans.xml"); PropertyBean obj = (PropertyBean) context.getBean("propertyBean"); String rootDirLogPath = obj.getRootDirLogPath(); This works great but I want to know if there's a way to avoid the instantiation of ApplicationContext at each time I want to use a bean. I've heard about BeanFactory is that a good idea? Which are the others solutions? In other words: Am I supposed to called this Application context instanciation in every Controller in spring MVC?

    I am trying to read certain values from a json string in php, I am able to do a simple json string with only one value such as $json = '{"value":"somevalue"}'; Using this: <?php $json = '{"value":"somevalue"}'; $obj = json_decode(json_encode($json)); print $obj->{'value'}; ?> But when i try an get a value from the following json string it throws an error... $json = '{"field": "title","rule": {"required": "true","minlength": "4","maxlength": "150" }}'; I validated the json on JSONlint but not sure how to access the values within this with php.   • using different key for to_json :methods

    When using :methods in to_json, is there a way to rename the key? I'm trying to replace the real id with a base62 version of it and I want that the value of base62_id has the key id. @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => :base62_id ) I tried to do @obj.to_json( :except => :id :methods => { :id => :base62_id } ) but that didn't work. Any advice?

  • Intellisense for Javascript - not correct in Visual Studio 2008/2010

    var obj = document.getElementById("header"); Given the above code snippet, I should be able to wire event handlers. For example, I can wire onMouseDown to the mouse down event, the issue is that Visual Studio does not display this in the Intellisense. I'm trying something such as: obj.onmousedown = mousestatus; Based on a book I'm reading, the code is valid (at least it works) therefore I see no reason why Intellisense is not picking it up. I've tried this on both a standalone Javascript file, as well as an MVC project to no luck. Is there anything I'm doing wrong - or is there a way to resolve this?
