  • SQL server 2008 R2 installation error

    I have a windows 7,32 bit laptop. I am the administrator with all permissions. when I click on the SQL server 2008R2 set up file,it says : "SQL server set up has encountered the following error:Failed to retreive data for this request" click on OK. I have uninstalled all the components of SQL from control panel. I used Windows installer clean up to remove the files(which I must have not done ),but still no go.     My scanner came with the following software: ScanSoft PageViewer ScanSoft PaperPort ScanDirect I believe it also comes with a basic version of OmniPage I'm not sure which of these programs is the one that actually performs the OCR. When I scan a document, it can perform OCR on it and convert it to a searchable PDF. Is there any way I can take an existing image or PDF file and run the same OCR engine on it in order to create a searchable PDF?

    Recently we moved across a user and a distribution list from Exchange 2003 to 2010. The user used to be able to add and remove from a distribution list within Outlook. I have added them to the Managed by list in Exchange in the distribution list, but to no avail. They are getting an error message saying You do not have the sufficient permissions to perform this operation on this object. I cannot seem to find the setting to allow the user permissions.

    I know that bigger capacity hard-drives with the same RPM are faster then smaller capacity hard-drives. I was wondering if the same is true for ram. Given two ram clocked at 1600mhz and with identical CLs: 9-9-9-24. Is a 2x8 going to perform better then a 2x4 ? Note that I am not asking if having more ram will improve the performance of my PC, I'm asking if the bigger capacity ram performs better. Thank You.

Today in Israel we returned back to winter time (one hour back), domain controller now shows current time but all another machines in network show different time they went two hour back and there's difference in one hour between domain controller and another machines.     Could anyone explain to me why is it that producers of processors claim that their processor can perform so many thousands (or millions) operations per second and yet typical program (Word, VS etc.) on my machine with 4GB, 3500hz starts with no less than 10sek. Have to mention that I've just formatted disk and tick any necessarry boxes to optimize my machine. So if for example outlook starts in 10 sek I wonder how many millions of operations have to be performed to run such program? Thanks
