  • [super init] and loading NIB / XIB files?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I am a little curious, I have a view controller class and an NIB/XIB (both are named "MapViewController") If I do the following it loads the NIB with the matching name. -(id)init { self = [super initWithNibName:@"MapViewController" bundle:nil]; if(self) { do things ... } return self; } if on the other hand I just specify [super init] does Xcode just look for a NIB that matches the name of the controller, is that how this is working? -(id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { do things ... } return self; } cheers Gary.

  • Dictionary w/ null key?

    - by Ralph
    Firstly, why doesn't Dictionary<TKey, TValue> support a single null key? Secondly, is there an existing dictionary-like collection that does? I want to store an "empty" or "missing" or "default" System.Type, thought null would work well for this. More specifically, I've written this class: class Switch { private Dictionary<Type, Action<object>> _dict; public Switch(params KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>>[] cases) { _dict = new Dictionary<Type, Action<object>>(cases.Length); foreach (var entry in cases) _dict.Add(entry.Key, entry.Value); } public void Execute(object obj) { var type = obj.GetType(); if (_dict.ContainsKey(type)) _dict[type](obj); } public static void Execute(object obj, params KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>>[] cases) { var type = obj.GetType(); foreach (var entry in cases) { if (entry.Key == null || type.IsAssignableFrom(entry.Key)) { entry.Value(obj); break; } } } public static KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>> Case<T>(Action action) { return new KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>>(typeof(T), x => action()); } public static KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>> Case<T>(Action<T> action) { return new KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>>(typeof(T), x => action((T)x)); } public static KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>> Default(Action action) { return new KeyValuePair<Type, Action<object>>(null, x => action()); } } For switching on types. There are two ways to use it: Statically. Just call Switch.Execute(yourObject, Switch.Case<YourType>(x => x.Action())) Precompiled. Create a switch, and then use it later with switchInstance.Execute(yourObject) Works great except when you try to add a default case to the "precompiled" version (null argument exception).

  • for loop vs while loop

    - by Atul
    We can use for loop and while loop for same purpose. in what means they effect our code if I use for instead of while? same question arises between if-else and switch-case? how to decide what to use? for example which one you would prefer? This code: int main() { int n; cin>>n; for(int i=0;i<n;i++) { do_something(); } return 0; } Or this code: int main() { int n,i=0; cin>>n; while(i<n) { do_something(); i++; } return 0; } if using for or while loop does not effect the code by any means then may I know What was the need to make 2 solution for same problem?

  • How to pass a member function to a function used in another member function?

    - by Tommaso Ferrari
    I found something about my problem, but I don't already understand very well. I need to do something like this: class T{ double a; public: double b; void setT(double par){ a=par; }; double funct(double par1) { return par1/a; } void exec(){ b=extfunct(funct, 10); } } double extfunct(double (*f)(double),double par2){ return f(par2)+5; } Operation and function are only for example, but the structure is that. The reason of this structure is that I have a precostituited class which finds the minimum of a gived function (it's extfunct in the example). So I have to use it on a function member of a class. I understood the difference between pointer to function and pointer to member function, but I don't understand how to write it. Thanks, and sorry for the poor explanation of the problem.

  • Dynamic added elements double effect after page transition

    - by Emil Moe
    I have added dynamic from jQuery in my code, but when I go back one page and return to the page where the 's are added and you press them, they somehow click twice now. I have tried with an alert('something'); when I click: $(document).on('click', '#products a', function() { alert('something'); } And it's shown twice when you return to the page. I have tried $('#products a').remove(); When you click the 'Back' button, because I thought all elements where added twice, but that made no difference. I don't have anything around these lines, maybe I need $(document).ready(); or something with pageinit?

  • accessing nth element (value) of a vector after sorting

    - by memC
    dear experts, This question is an extension of this question I asked. I have a std::vector vec_B.which stores instances of class Foo. The order of elements in this vector changes in the code. Now, I want to access the value of the current "last element" or current 'nth' element of the vector. If I use the code below to get the last element using getLastFoo() method, it doesn't return the correct value. For example, to begin with the last element of the vector has Foo.getNumber() = 9. After sorting it in descending order of num, for the last element, Foo.getNumber() = 0. But with the code below, it still returns 9.. that means it is still pointing to the original element that was the last element. What change should I make to the code below so that "lastFoo" points to the correct last element? class Foo { public: Foo(int i); ~Foo(){}; int getNum(); private: int num; }; Foo:Foo(int i){ num = i; } int Foo::getNum(){ return num; } class B { public: Foo* getLastFoo(); B(); ~B(){}; private: vector<Foo> vec_B; }; B::B(){ int i; for (i = 0; i< 10; i++){ vec_B.push_back(Foo(i)); } // Do some random changes to the vector vec_B so that elements are reordered. For // example rearrange elements in decreasing order of 'num' //... } Foo* B::getLastFoo(){ &vec_B.back(); }; int main(){ B b; Foo* lastFoo; lastFoo = b.getLastFoo() cout<<lastFoo->getNumber(); return 0; }

  • Looking at the C++ new[] cookie. How portable is this code?

    - by carleeto
    I came up with this as a quick solution to a debugging problem - I have the pointer variable and its type, I know it points to an array of objects allocated on the heap, but I don't know how many. So I wrote this function to look at the cookie that stores the number of bytes when memory is allocated on the heap. template< typename T > int num_allocated_items( T *p ) { return *((int*)p-4)/sizeof(T); } //test #include <iostream> int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { using std::cout; using std::endl; typedef long double testtype; testtype *p = new testtype[ 45 ]; //prints 45 std::cout<<"num allocated = "<<num_allocated_items<testtype>(p)<<std::endl; delete[] p; return 0; } I'd like to know just how portable this code is.

  • NSString cannot be released

    - by Stanley
    Consider the following method and the caller code block. The method analyses a NSString and extracts a "http://" string which it passes out by reference as an auto release object. Without releasing g_scan_result, the program works as expected. But according to non-arc rules, g_scan_result should be released since a retain has been called against it. My question are : Why g_scan_result cannot be released ? Is there anything wrong the way g_scan_result is handled in the posted coding below ? Is it safe not to release g_scan_result as long as the program runs correctly and the XCode Memory Leak tool does not show leakage ? Which XCode profile tools should I look into to check and under which subtitle ? Hope somebody knowledgeable could help. - (long) analyse_scan_result :(NSString *)scan_result target_url :(NSString **)targ_url { NSLog (@" RES analyse string : %@", scan_result); NSRange range = [scan_result rangeOfString:@"http://" options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch]; if (range.location == NSNotFound) { *targ_url = @""; NSLog(@"fnd string not found"); return 0; } NSString *sub_string = [scan_result substringFromIndex : range.location]; range = [sub_string rangeOfString : @" "]; if (range.location != NSNotFound) { sub_string = [sub_string substringToIndex : range.location]; } NSLog(@" FND sub_string = %@", sub_string); *targ_url = sub_string; return [*targ_url length]; } The following is the caller code block, also note that g_scan_result has been declared and initialized (on another source file) as : NSString *g_scan_result = nil; Please do send a comment or answer if you have suggestions or find possible errors in code posted here (or above). Xcode memory tools does not seem to show any memory leak. • Making a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ

    - by DarthVader
    I want to make a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ which will have only send and get functions. I want to wrap them in a static class. Users can use this client and send, get messages to the activemq instance. I want this process to be transparent. There are two classes in this link My only handicap is, i need to this in c++ and not sure where to start. I havent used c++ for ages and now not sure how I can create this wrapper class. I m giving it a try as follows: // .h file #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class ActiveMQWrapper { public: static void send(std::string message); static std::string get(); }; // .cpp file #include<string> #include<iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" void ActiveMQWrapper::send(std::string message){ std::cout<<message; } std::string ActiveMQWrapper::get(){ return "test"; } // test file #include <string> #include <iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" int main() { std::string foo ="test"; ActiveMQWrapper::send(foo); std::cout<<ActiveMQWrapper::get(); return 1; } When I added the following to .h file, hell breaks loose. Do you think I should seperate this impl to a factory and initialize and instance and return to the wrapper above? How do i deal with all the dependencies? private: Connection* connection; Session* session; Destination* destination; MessageProducer* producer; int numMessages; bool useTopic; bool sessionTransacted; std::string brokerURI; and the header files, i get several messages as errors, which complains about the path. How can i get this correct? I eventually want to build a Factory, get an instance and send or get the messages to the queue. is there a code sample i can look into to get this right? essential i want to use the functionality of only this producer and consumer. Edit: I understand there is no such thing as static class in C++ . This is my reference.

  • Using PHP interfaces in Codeigniter

    - by John Stewart
    I am trying to find out how can I used PHP interfaces in my MVC design. I want to make sure that the design enforces an interface so that any new module would follow that. For example: <?php interface BaseAPI { public function postMessage($msg); } class ServiceAPI implements BaseAPI { public function postMessage($msg) { return $msg; } } class Service_Two_API implements BaseAPI { public function postMessage($msg) { return "can't do this: ".$msg; } } ?> I want to do this in CI. Is it possible? how should I design it?

  • Is there any injection vunerability in the body of an email?

    - by Brett
    Hey guys..... AFAIK there is only a vulnerability within the HEADERS of an email when using user data correct? I am using the below function to sanitize my data, however I have some textarea fields on the page & hence these may contain linebreaks.. so was wondering if that user data is only going to be put in the body of the email, can it not bother with being sanitized - apart from stripping html of course? Here is the function: function is_injected($str) { $injections = array('(\n+)', '(\r+)', '(\t+)', '(%0A+)', '(%0D+)', '(%08+)', '(%09+)' ); $inject = join('|', $injections); $inject = "/$inject/i"; if (preg_match($inject,$str)) { return true; } else { return false; } } As a side note, surprised there wasn't currently a tag for mail-injection / email-injection. Thanks!

  • Is call to function object inlined?

    - by dehmann
    In the following code, Foo::add calls a function via a function object: struct Plus { inline int operator()(int x, int y) const { return x + y; } }; template<class Fct> struct Foo { Fct fct; Foo(Fct f) : fct(f) {} inline int add(int x, int y) { return fct(x,y); // same efficiency adding directly? } }; Is this the same efficiency as calling x+y directly in Foo::add? In other words, does the compiler typically directly replace fct(x,y) with the actual call, inlining the code, when compiling with optimizations enabled?

  • C++, constructor restrictions

    - by Pie86
    Hi everybaody, I'm studing C++ and I can't understand the meaning of the boldface sentence below: From IBM manual: The following restrictions apply to constructors and destructors: Constructors and destructors do not have return types nor can they return values. References and pointers cannot be used on constructors and destructors because their addresses cannot be taken. Constructors cannot be declared with the keyword virtual. Constructors and destructors cannot be declared static, const, or volatile. Unions cannot contain class objects that have constructors or destructors. Could you please provide me an example? Thank you!

  • CRUD operations; do you notify whether the insert, update etc. went well ?

    Hi guys. I have a simple question for you (i hope) :) I have pretty much always used void as a "return" type when doing CRUD operations on data. Eg. Consider this code: public void Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); } and then considen this code: public bool Insert(IAuctionItem item) { if (item == null) { AuctionLogger.LogException(new ArgumentNullException("item is null")); } _dataStore.DataContext.AuctionItems.InsertOnSubmit((AuctionItem)item); _dataStore.DataContext.SubmitChanges(); return true; } It actually just comes down to whether you should notify that something was inserted (and went well) or not ?
