• Visual C++ 2008 doesn't recognize Windows declared types

  I have a program that doesn't seem to recognize declared types in the latest U3D software. There's a line typedef BOOL (WINAPI* GMI)(HMON, LPMONITORINFOEX); which gets the error: Error 1 error C2061: syntax error : identifier 'LPMONITORINFOEX' c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 28 and a line MONITORINFOEX miMon; which gets Error 5 error C2065: 'miMon' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 Error 3 error C2065: 'MONITORINFOEX' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 The program's first non-comment statement is #include <windows.h>, which includes winuser.h, which defines these identifiers. In Visual Studio, I can right-click on them and go to the definition (a typedef) and from the typedef to the struct. WINAPI is defined in WinDef.h, so that seems to be working. There are no redefinitions of LPMONITORINFOEX or MONITORINFOEX in any other file. So, how can this be happening, and what can I do about it?

  We are currently selecting a source control and issue tracking software, and are looking towards Team Foundation Server 2010. Some participants of our project often have slow Internet connection (for example during travel), and therefore it is important for us to have a source control system that does not consume too much traffic. I was unable to find information on traffic consumption when using TFS 2010. Does anyone has such info? Does TFS 2010 support traffic compression? Do other source control systems (like SVN, for example) produce less or more traffic than TFS 2010?

  Is there a cross browser solution to check if an element is visible using WebDriver? The solution for IE and firefox is to cast the object to a RenderedRemoteWebElement and then call the property Displayed. I'm using the following methods to return if a element is visible: /// <summary> /// Check if the control is visible. /// </summary> public bool IsVisible() { IWebElement control = mSelenium.FindElement(mFindBy); return ((RenderedRemoteWebElement)control).Displayed; } The problem is when I run this using Chrome, I get an exception when casting to type RenderedRemoteWebElement, this is not really the problem as I can catch this, but I need to a solution to check if an element is visible in chrome.   I know that peripheral devices such as a hard driver, a floppy driver, etc are controlled by reading/writing certain control registers on their device controllers. I am wondering about the following questions: Is it true that when these peripheral devices are plugged onto the computer, the addresses(port numbers) of their control registers are thus determined by how they are attached to the address bus (i.e. the hard-wiring rules, not any soft things)? Who makes the scheme of the port number assignment? If I was given a naked computer(with no operating system and with many peripheral devices), how could I figure out the port number assignment so I can use them to control peripheral deveices. What are you going to do? {favourite editor} and Grep will get you started on your spelunking through the gnarling guts of the code base but what other tools should be in the maintenance engineers toolbox?   I've recently been working with an opensource library for a commercial product. The opensource code is distributed from the website of the company who sells the proprietary product as a zip file. The library is a (direct) port to C# of the original library which is in Java. As such, it uses methods instead of getter/setter properties. The code contains copyright notices to the supplier of the product. The C# port was originally provided to the company by a 3rd party individual. I have modified the source to be more C# like and added a couple of small features. I want to put my version of the code out there (Google code or where ever) so that C# users of the software can benefit from a more native feeling library. How can I and/or how should I amend the copyright notice to give proper credit to The comercial owner of the original source The guy who provided the original C# port Myself and anyone else who contributes to the project in the future The source is provided under the LGPL V2.1,

• internet explorer ebay listing html/css problem

  The code i wrote for ebay listings seems to be different for the same listing depending on if it is opened with internet explorer or firefox. the source i uploaded to ebay was the same now when i view the code in firefox it shows correctly but in internet explorer it does not. when looking at the source taken from the ebay listing online the source code differs between the browsers even though it is from the same listing and same code. • How do I link a Navigation Menu to an already existing Sitemap

  I am just beginning my journey into web development and I have a very basic question, but I am none the less stumped. I have setup a new ASP.NET Empty Web Application. In this application, I have created a few *.aspx pages and a sitemap called 'Web.sitemap'. I have placed a SiteMapPath control onto my Master page and, with no further configuration, this detected my Web.sitemap and displays the location of the page on any *.aspx page which derives from the master page. However, whenever I add a Navigation Menu, this doesn't happen. When I bring up the Menu Tasks dialogue box, I can't select this from the Choose Data Source dropdown, my only option is to choose <New data source...> which brings up the Data Source Configuration Wizard, and from this I can create a new Site Map, however I want to use the already existing one. How do I go about this? Thanks

• Controlling Windows Media Player through PHP / batch files

  I'm currently writing a tiny webapp for my HTPC (actually, a PC serving as both a media player and web- / fileserver) that will allow me to remotely control the playing of audio, without having to turn on my TV just to switch songs. I'm using Windows Media Player as my audio player of choice, and I thought I could control it through PHP's COM Class. Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any documentation or examples on controlling WMP through this interface. Can anyone point me in the right direction here? A second (and much less preferable) solution would be to use PHP's exec() call to start batch files that, in turn, control WMP.

• How does Google implement Microsoft Exchange access?

  I know with Android 2.x there is the ability to tap into Microsoft Exchange, for at least email, if not calendar and contacts. I would like to see how this was accomplished. Particularly because Microsoft Exchange exposes SOAP web services, and I understand there is no native Android support for SOAP. Since this is open source, shouldn't I be able to find something in the Android source? If so, can you point me in the right direction of where to find it in the ~4Gig (!) source? I want to develop an application that accesses Exchange contacts and calendars, but don't want to reinvent that piece. Any other guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I have a desktop application (forms) with a tab control, I assign a tab and a new custom webrowser control. I open up about 10 of these tabs. Each one visits about 100 - 500 different pages. The trouble is that if 1 webbrowser control has a problem it shuts down the entire program. I want to be able to close the offending webbrowser control and open a new one in it's place. Is there any event that I need to subscribe to catch a crashing or unresponsive webbrowser control ?   Hi all, I am curious about the security of PHP on an HTML webpage where PHP code is embedded (a webpage that would exist on the server as "webpage.php") or on a PHP script that may be referenced by an HTML page (that is, a PHP script that is not actually part of a webpage that exists on the server as "something.php" and is referenced by "webpage.html"). Getting to the point, let us say that if the source code of my PHP script is known by anyone it would be a very big problem. I know that when you view the source of a PHP page in a browser the PHP script is not shown, but what if the PHP server failed and the HTML still loaded (is this even possible), would a user be able to see the PHP script? To be more general, is there ANY possible way that a user could access the source of a PHP script from a web browser, and if so, how do I prevent it?

  I'm looking for a good jQuery or CSS, or combo, library to enance my left side menu in an an intranet application. I don't like the 'hover only' expand/collapse style of the ASP.NET Menu control on its own, and I don't like the 'icon-click only' expand/collapse style of the TreeView control on its own. I plan on trying the CSS Control Adapters, to render the menu with some self-respect, i.e. as nested <ul> or <ol> elements instead of the usual orgy of tables. Beyond that, I need something to give a bit of style and menulike behaviour to these nested lists, and I would prefer a jQuery plugin for this. Which should I use?

  I am trying to retrieve file path for a html file that is embedded in resource (resx file) in VS2008 C# project. I want to give path of this file to native webbrowser control (PIEHtml) to be able to navigate (DTM_NAVIGATE) in my application. I know I can pass the string to this control using DTM_ADDTEXTW but since html text size is so big, I dont want to pass string to the control. I need to somehow extract the file path for this html file embedded inside resource manager. I tried using but this does not give the file path of html inside assembly: private ResourceManager resManager = new ResourceManager("AppName.FolderName.FileName", System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()); this.lbl.Text = resManager.GetString("StringInResources"); and also read Retrieving Resources in Satellite Assemblies but it did not solve my problem.   Hello. I have a folder on a server which is shared with guest access enabled. I want to be able to copy a file from that folder to a local machine with Applescript.   I've seen in WPF where you can bind control values to properties of other controls. How is that binding accomplished in C++? For example, if I have a class called Car and a guage control called RPM, how do I tie the value of RPM to the member variable Car.RPM, so that when Car.RPM changes, it is automatically (as in without a specific update call coded by me) reflected by the RPM control? General answers or directions to pertinent resources would be fine also, as I'm just beginning to dabble in C++ and haven't had much Google luck with this particular question.

  I have a control with white text foreground color and transparent background color. Later on this usercontrol will be added into a different control that carries the real background color. However during designing this, control due white foreground on white background in VS 2010, I can't obviously see anything. In there anyway to define a different color for just the design time? • Avoiding Nested Blocks

  If there is a view controller that wants to execute a number of block based tasks one at a time, how can the control be given back to the view controller after a completion block has executed. Lets say ViewControllerOne wants to execute a number of tasks, each relying on the result of the previous one, how would this control be given back to the viewcontroller after each completion block has been executed? I started thinking about this and I was heading towards a deeply nested block pattern that will surely only cause confusion to whoever else reads or tests it. A task executes and the completion block returns the result or error which is needed by the next task, which has its own completion task, that the next task relies on and so forth. How can the control be managed in one place, the viewcontroller? Would the completion block just call the next function that handles the next task, using a pointer to the view controller?
