• Still not understanding SVN Repositories in eclipse

  I am about to import my project into svn but don't want to stuff it up. My structure is like this: Repositories: /var/svn/client_name1/ /var/svn/client_name2/ Project directories under /var/svn/client_name1/ project1/ trunk/ branches/ tags/ project2/ trunk/ branches/ tags/ My Apache config looks like this: <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /var/svn SVNListParentPath on AuthType Basic AuthName "My Repository" AuthUserFile /etc/svnpass Require valid-user AuthzSVNAccessFile /etc/svnauth </Location> Now I can access my svn repository http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/ however, there are no projects displayed here, just a Revision 0 message (is that correct)? I can connect to the repository in eclipse using the same url. If I want to place an existing project into the repository what url do I use? http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/project1 OR http://mysite.com/svn/client_name1/project1/trunk

• Implementing a recursive menu system a'la Joomla in CodeIgniter

  Hi I have some sites powered by Joomla, but with my current assignment I wanted to try something new and created with CodeIgniter a really basic CMS (just to suit my client's needs). Everything works fine except menus - multilevel menus like in Joomla, Drupal etc. with items and subitems... My question is: do you know of any tutorials or texts abut implementing such a structure. I've tried the recursion thinggy with while getting children's IDs move downwards from the parent while searching for the currently displayed item's ID. I've tried also the Drupalish way with having a path parameter enclosing ID's all the way from top to bottom '1/23/123/3'. But all in all it was just too chaotic - code something, try it out. If you have some idea on this topic - thanks in advice.

• Open page in Joomla

  I'm using Jumi to echo php code and then showing that in a Joomla Article, and everythings working fine. Now I want to do this: The output is basically a list from a database like this: Name Price Type A 1 T1 B 2 T2 In this list I want to include links to only show items of the same type, so "T1" would like to a page only showing things of type T1. So I thought I would do this by making a new page that takes a type and then get all the items of that type from the database. Without Joomla this wouldv'e been a piece of cake, with Joomla I'm not quite sure where to begin. How should the a href=... tags in the html code printed by my php script look? Is my basic structure still correct, and if so, how do I make Joomla open the new page in the normal frame and not replace the whole Joomla page. some kind of target-frame attribute?

• iPhone: How do I override the back button in a Navigation Controller?

  Hello, In my app I have a basic Navigation Controller. For all of my views, except one, the controller works as it should. However, for one view in particular, I would like the 'back' button to not go back to the previous view, but to go to one I set. In particular it is going to go back 2 views and skip over one. After doing some research I found that I can intercept the view when it disappears, so I tried to put in code to have it navigate to the page I would like: - (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillDisappear:animated]; //i set a flag to know that the back button was pressed if (viewPushed) { viewPushed = NO; } else { // Here, you know that back button was pressed mainMenu *mainViewController = [[mainMenu alloc] initWithNibName:@"mainMenu" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:mainViewController animated:YES]; [mainViewController release]; } } That didn't work, so does anyone have any ideas? • Send data to webserver from C#, what's the most efficient way?

  I am sending gps coordinates from a windows mobile phone to a webserver using a basic program I wrote in C#. The problem is the data plan on the phone only allows 4 MB per month. I was planning on updating the location every 10 seconds. Currently I am just creating a webrequest every 10 seconds to a php page on the server and the coordinates are passed over in the url, the php page saves them to the database. This generates about 1K of data per request, at this rate I will hit my data limit in less than a day. Is there a more efficient way to do this?

• debugging c# silverlight projects from vb web application

  Hi, I have a problem whereby I cannot debug a c# silverlight application project that is hosted from within a visual basic web application. I add breakpoints to the main App constructor and the symbols are loaded ok but my breakpoints are never hit. I have concluded that it is a vb/c# interop problem as to test i did the following. Created a new c# web application project Added a c# silverlight application Added a new vb web application project Added references to the silverlight project from both web apps set a breakpoint in App.xaml.cs constructor if i run the c# webapp the break points are hit whereas if i run the vb webapp they are not. has anyone come across this before or can anyone suggest a solution please? • EntityDataSource Unable to configure to Entity Model

  I'm doing my first test asp.net3.5 app using EntityDataSource. I've got the basic project built and the Entity model created and compiled. Database is a local sqlexpress one in app_data directory. When I put the <asp:EntityDataSource /> control on the page and try to configure it, I'm getting the message "The list of named connections could not be loaded because the configuration could not be opened". At this point, everything in the project is "auto-created" by Visual Studio 2008sp1. I confused as I cannot find any information on how to correct from this message.

  Hi there, I am looking for an alternative to using an object/variable in global scope -- I would like to associate key/value pairs with specific DOM elements (eg, a DIV), so that I can use them as input for logic that processes other elements (eg, child elements of said DIV). I tried something naive like: $('[foo=bar]').key='value' , and $('[foo=bar]')[key]='value', but it puked. Doing something like: var foobar = $('[foo=bar]'); foobar.key = 'value' -- works, but the new property/value only affects the new object (ie, foobar, not $('[foo=bar]')) Most likely there's something terribly basic I am overlooking. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

• Template approach for a PHP application

  Hi everyone, We're in the middle of making a new e-commerce related PHP application and we have come to the point where we have started to think about how we should solve templating for our customers needs. What we would like to do is offer our customers the possibility of uploading/modifying templates to suit their company:s profile. The initial thought is that we shall not reinvent the wheel, so instead letting our customers upload their templates with FTP, so there will be basic HTML skills required. For those customers that want to modify/customize template and doesnt have the knowledge, we offer that service as well. I know that there's a number of issues to solve before this could be considered safe, like preventing XSS and writing scripts that check through each uploaded file for potential security threats and so on. Of course, there are some part that probably will be to complex for the customer to modify by themselves, so maybe this approach won't apply to all<< template files in the frontend application. But besides that, what would be a good way to handle this?

• Find value within a range in lookup table

  I have the simplest problem to implement, but so far I have not been able to get my head around a solution in Python. I have built a table that looks similar to this one: 501 - ASIA 1262 - EUROPE 3389 - LATAM 5409 - US I will test a certain value to see if it falls within these ranges, 389 -> ASIA, 1300 -> LATAM, 5400 -> US. A value greater than 5409 should not return a lookup value. I normally have a one to one match, and would implement a dictionary for the lookup. But in this case I have to consider these ranges, and I am not seeing my way out of the problem. Maybe without providing the whole solution, could you provide some comments that would help me look in the right direction? It is very similar to a vlookup in a spreadsheet. I would describe my Python knowledge as somewhere in between basic to intermediate. Many thanks in advance.

• Parse JSON with R

  I am fairly new to R, but the more use it, the more I see how powerful it really is over SAS or SPSS. Just one of the major benefits, as I see them, is the ability to get and analyze data from the web. I imagine this is possible (and maybe even straightforward), but I am looking to parse JSON data that is publicly available on the web. I am not programmer by any stretch, so any help and instruction you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Even if you point me to a basic working example, I probably can work through it.

  So right now, I'm just using a basic form to check a password. I want it to check the password and basically remain on page.html so I can use JavaScript to alert incorrect password or something. • Threading Problems in ActionScript 2.0?

  Is it possible to have concurrency problems (thread competition) in an onEnterFrame method in ActionScript 2.0? I have written this cheesy code as a guard: if (!busy) { // I suspect some threading problems: is that even possible in flash busy = true; movePanels(); busy = false; } but this is no assurance against thread competition. If so, how can I do a basic semaphore/lock? Note: I suspect threading problems in my app, but if they're impossible, I'll check my code differently.

• Cygwin GCC + WinXP cmd.exe does nothing

  My basic problem is that if I run GCC from the windows command line (cmd.exe in Windows XP) and it does nothing: no .o files are created, no error messages, nothing. It will only throw an error message if I use DOS-style paths, but nothing else. When I run from the Cygwin shell then it will throws error messages as appropriate for the errors in the source and produces the .o files as it needs. Using 'make' from the DOS command line doesn't work either. Has anyone encountered this behavior before?

• Using Django view variables inside templates

  Hi, this is a rather basic question (I'm new to Django) but I'm having trouble using a variable set in my view inside my template. If I initialize a string or list inside my view (i.e. h = "hello") and then attempt to call it inside a template: {{ h }} there is neither output nor errors. Similarly, if I try to use a variable inside my template that doesn't exist: {{ asdfdsadf }} there is again no error reported. Is this normal? And how can I use my variables within my templates.   So I'm comfortable with the basic concept of CQS, where you might have a command that writes to one database, and that updates the query database that you read from. However, consider the scenario where you are entering data, and want to prevent duplicates. Using new employee data entry an employee register as an example, working through a pile of application forms to key in the new employees' details: Take top sheet. Key in employee name and unique payroll number to UI. Submit. Put paper in "completed pile". Repeat. How would you now prevent the user from keying in the same payroll number again, say for instance if they get distracted and can't remember whether they've keyed one in already and the "message" hasn't got all the way back to the query db for the user to search?

  This question is for learning purposes. Suppose I am writing a simple SQL admin console using CGI and Python. At http://something.com/admin, this admin console should allow me to modify a SQL database (i.e., create and modify tables, and create and modify records) using an ordinary form. In the least secure case, anybody can access http://something.com/admin and modify the database. You can password protect http://something.com/admin. But once you start using the admin console, information is still transmitted in plain text. So then you use HTTPS to secure the transmitted data. Questions: To describe to a learner, how would you incrementally add security to the least secure environment in order to make it most secure? How would you modify/augment my three (possibly erroneous) steps above? What basic tools in Python make your steps possible? Optional: Now that I understand the process, how do sophisticated libraries and frameworks inherently achieve this level of security?

Maybe working off a list of values matching the spec format using some wildcards where neededed? The css to select the correct tag is #list div div div+p or I could just give the p class but would rather not. Is this kind of thing possible?

• best way to build iphone settings screen

  I'm building a settings screen for an iPhone app and it is supposed to resemble a grouped table view. Each "cell" should behave like a button. Most cells just have a image view, label view, and disclosure indicator. One will display a value in addition to a label. All of these buttons will present a new view when tapped. Now, how to implement this? I was considering just laying out a set of buttons with custom background images, or would it be best to just use a table view. If that's the case what should it be implemented. So far I've only used table views to display some kind of dynamic data in which each cell displayed the same basic detail view. I'm most curious to figure out how to setup cellForRowAtIndexPath. Would this contain some sort of switch statement to configure each cell individually, or is there an easier way to handle all this?
