  I've been looking for an implementation (I'm using networkx library.) that will find all the minimum spanning trees (MST) of an undirected weighted graph. I can only find implementations for Kruskal's Algorithm and Prim's Algorithm both of which will only return a single MST. I've seen papers that address this problem (such as http://fano.ics.uci.edu/cites/Publication/Epp-TR-95-50.html) but my head tends to explode someway through trying to think how to translate it to code. In fact i've not been able to find an implementation in any language!

• Manual stack backtrace on Windows mobile (SEH)

  Following situation: I'm developing an windows mobile application using the sdk 6. Target machine is a nautiz x7. To improve the error reporting I want to catch the structured exceptions (SEH) and do a stack backtrace to store some information for analysis. So far I have the information where the exception was thrown (windows core.dll) and I can backtrace the return adresses thru the stack. But what I want to know is, which instruction in my code caused the exception? Does anyone know how to use the available exception and context information to get the appropriate function/instruction address? Unfortunately windows mobile 6 sdk for pocketpc does not support all the helper functions to do stackwalks or mini dumps.

  Hello - I know this can't be too difficult, but I've tried everything I can think of and cannot get it to work. I need to compare the value of a column (LASTNAME) with a system variable (:VARIABLE), but the variable is an email address, so I need to trim off the "@email.com" and "firstname." Some things I've tried: select * from TABLENAME where LASTNAME LIKE :VARIABLE select * from TABLENAME where LASTNAME IN :VARIABLE I've been able to trim off the @email.com, can't figure out how to trim off FIRSTNAME. at the same time.   Hello I am working on internal PHP application where users login only from our network (we are on dedicated IP and application is checking $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] and if is match our IP go thru if not - Bye However how I can identify from which station user is login ? Using cookie not gonna work - those are windows station working under control MS StedyState and all cookies are deleted every login I don't need nothing fancy like full MAC address just any unique ID (can not be application username - because users use different stations) Any ideas ? Maybe Javascript is able to grab some Unique detail from station's browser (IE 8) and pass this as hidden input? bensiu

If i drop the url into the address bar of the browser all is fine, but is not triggered from the javascript tag? Any ideas?

• Need help using the Windows IP Helper API & ParseNetworString in C#.

  I'm attempting to rewrite some C# web service code that uses the Windows IP Helper API call "SendARP" to retreive a remote system's MAC address. SendARP works great - until you cross a network segment as Arp requests aren't routed. I've been looking at the "ParseNetworkString" documentation after happening across its existance on StackOverflow. • C++ Memory Allocation & Linked List Implementation

  I'm writing software to simulate the "first-fit" memory allocation schema. Basically, I allocate a large X megabyte chunk of memory and subdivide it into blocks when chunks are requested according to the schema. I'm using a linked list called "node" as a header for each block of memory (so that we can find the next block without tediously looping through every address value. head_ptr = (char*) malloc(total_size + sizeof(node)); if(head_ptr == NULL) return -1; // Malloc Error .. :-( node* head_node = new node; // Build block header head_node->next = NULL; head_node->previous = NULL; // Header points to next block (which doesn't exist yet) memset(head_ptr,head_node, sizeof(node)); ` But this last line returns: error: invalid conversion from 'node*' to 'int' I understand why this is invalid.. but how can I place my node into the pointer location of my newly allocated memory?

• Dummy SMTP Server for testing apps that send email

  I have a lot of apps that send email. Sometimes it's one or two messages at a time. Sometimes it's thousands of messages. In development, I usually test by substituting my own address for any recipient addresses. I'm sure that's what everybody else does, until they get fed up with it and find a better solution. I was thinking about creating a dummy SMTP server that just catches the messages and dumps them in a SQLLite database, or an mbox file, or whatever. But surely such a tool already exists? How do you test sending email?

  To use the web service that is part of an SSRS installation, it seems that you need to add a web reference to your project so that you can call it etc (see one of my previous questions). But if I needed to call the web service for different SSRS installations then i need to keep adding extra web references. My asp.net application currently displays reports from several different SSRS installations, not just a single server... Is there a way to either dynamically add the web reference or to dynamically change the server address of where the web service is located?

  I can think of lots of ways to do this on my own, but I was hoping to find some sort of best practice and have been having trouble finding other's experiences. I want to create easily themed HTML and provide a real-time selector for the user to experiment with themes. I want to do something like the "Change Appearance" tab at http://my.yahoo.com . I'll be using jQuery. jQuery has a "theming" system, but it seems very much focused on jQuery widgets as opposed to the whole site, and also doesn't appear to address the real-time selection aspect (the jQuery page has this functionality, but I don't think it's part of the library.) Maybe there is a jQuery plugin that already does this? Or some sort of css/jQuery framework?

For example: mysite.com/site/business/5 (where 5 is the id of the business).   I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. My question is how would I pull this information from the user when they visit the page? What is the proper function for this? Anyone have examples they wish to share for me to learn by if possible?

• JavaScript OnClick Handler Not Invoking

  I'm calling a javascript function in an inline onclick like so: <a href="#" onclick="removeAttribute('foo', 'bar');">Some Link</a> When I click on the link, though, nothing happens. I have other links (to other functions) tied to onclicks that work fine elsewhere on the same page. All links to this "removeAttribute" function fail. There are no errors in Firebug, and the onclick event handler is being invoked - but stepping into the removeAttribute function ends up, for some reason, somewhere in jQuery.js. At no point does removeAttribute ever get called. If I do: javascript:removeAttribute('foo', 'bar'); in Firefox's address bar. The function is called successfully. Anyone seen this?

• C++ - Opening a file inside a function using fopen. (Noob problem)

  I am using Visual Studio 2005 (C++). I am passing a string into a function as a char array. I want to open the file passed in as a parameter and use it. I know my code works to an extent, because if I hardcode the filename as the first parameter it works perfectly. I do notice if I look at the value as a watch, the value includes the address aside the string literal. I have tried passing in the filename as a pointer, but it then complains about type conversion with __w64. As I said before it works fine with "filename.txt" in place of fileName. • Assign multiple Emacs keybindings to a single command?

  I'm giving ErgoEmacs mode a try to see if I can use Emacs more comfortably. Some of its keybindings are fairly intuitive, but in many cases I don't want to outright replace the defaults. For example, in the context of ErgoEmacs' navigation shortcut structure, M-h makes sense as a replacement for C-a--but I want to be able to use both, not just M-h. • Displaying/scrolling through heaps of pictures in the browser

  I want to be able to browse through heaps of images in the browser, fast. THe easy way (just load 2000 images and scroll) slows down the scrolling a lot, assumedly because there's too much images to be kept in memory. I'd love to hear thoughts on strategies to be able to quickly scroll through 10000s of images (as if you were on your desktop) in the browser. What would expected bottlenecks be? How to address them? How to fake things so that the user experience is still good? Examples in the wild?

• How do you keep track of what you have released in production?

  Tipically a deploy in production does not involve just a mere source code update (build) but requires a lot of other important tasks like for example: Db scripts (tables, query..) Configuration files (differents from test\production) Batch to schedule Executables to move to the correct path Etc. etc. In our company we just send an email to a "Release email address" describing the tasks in order, which changeset need to be published (TFS), which SP need to be updated, db scripts and so on. I believe there's not a magic tool that does these tasks automagically in order, rollback included; but probably there's something better than email that helps to keep track of releases in production. Do you have any tools to suggest or practices to share?

  Hi I have implemented the Observer Pattern with lazy load. The class that requests the data from the database is a singleton class. Now I am able to load the data from one database (located in one datacenter) very easily. But I need to get the data from other data centers too and display on the same UI. I can somehow pass the address of second data center and fetch the data from there also. But once I will get the data from second data center, it will be added to earlier list only. So later it will be thought for me to distinguish between the data. So I thought of attaching a property with the result set, so that while displaying the output I can show the data for both the data centers separately but on the same UI. I thought of attached property as an option where I can attach the data center name with the list of the data obtained. How is it possible to do in C#? Thanks Manas

  I have a template that creates a unique identifier for each type it is instanced. Here's a streamlined version of the template: template <typename T> class arType { static const arType Id; // this will be unique for every instantiation of arType<>. } // Address of Id is used for identification. #define PA_TYPE_TAG(T) (&arType<T >::Id) This works when you have an executable made purely of static libraries. Unfortunately we're moving to an executable made up of dlls. Each dlls could potentially have its own copy of Id for a type. One obvious solution is to explicitly instantiate all instances of arType. Unfortunately this is cumbersome, and I'd like to ask if anyone can propose a better solution?

• What wording in the C++ standard allows static_cast<non-void-type*>(malloc(N)); to work?

  As far as I understand the wording in 5.2.9 Static cast, the only time the result of a void*-to-object-pointer conversion is allowed is when the void* was a result of the inverse conversion in the first place. Throughout the standard there is a bunch of references to the representation of a pointer, and the representation of a void pointer being the same as that of a char pointer, and so on, but it never seems to explicitly say that casting an arbitrary void pointer yields a pointer to the same location in memory, with a different type, much like type-punning is undefined where not punning back to an object's actual type. So while malloc clearly returns the address of suitable memory and so on, there does not seem to be any way to actually make use of it, portably, as far as I have seen.

• How secure are GUIDs in terms of predictability?

  We're using .NET's Guid.NewGuid() to generate activation codes and API keys currently. I wonder if that poses a security problem since their algorithm is open. .NET Guid uses Win32 CoCreateGuid and I don't know it's internals (possibly MAC address + timestamp?). Can someone derive a second GUID out of the first one, or can he hit it with some smart guesses or is the randomness good enough so search space becomes too big? Generating random keys have the problem of collision, they need a double check before adding to a database. That's why we stuck with GUIDs but I'm unsure about their security for these purposes.   how to manage the use of both $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] in action of form and htaccess for url-rewriting? If I submit a form and in the action attribute of it i pass "$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']" and at the same time i am using url rewriting for the same page.. then these two things will contradict each other resulting in the display of action value of form in address bar.. so how can i manage this to get the url rewrited form of $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']? here the rewrite rule is to change the name of url file likewise as if form is submitted to any file say direction.php then rewrite will change it to something 30/redirect.html
