  • How to get the domain name from an url with PHP?

    - by ilhan
    For example http://www.google.com/ -> google.com http://www.ma219.metu.edu.tr -> metu.edu.tr https://www.nic.tr/ -> nic.tr http://www.plasticsurgery.a.bg/ -> plasticsurgery.a.bg www.abv.bg -> abv.bg abv.bg -> abv.bg The output should not have subdomain. Edit: It would be great if we were able to read http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/netwerk/dns/src/effective_tld_names.dat?raw=1

  • How can I collapse a dataframe by some variables, taking mean across others

    - by Alex Holcombe
    I need to summarize a data frame by some variables, ignoring the others. This is sometimes referred to as collapsing. E.g. if I have a dataframe like this: Widget Type Energy egg 1 20 egg 2 30 jap 3 50 jap 1 60 Then collapsing by Widget, with Energy the dependent variable, Energy~Widget, would yield Widget Energy egg 25 jap 55 In Excel the closest functionality might be "Pivot tables" and I've worked out how to do it in python (http://alexholcombe.wordpress.com/2009/01/26/summarizing-data-by-combinations-of-variables-with-python/), and here's an example with R using doBy library to do something very related (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02643.html), but is there an easy way to do the above? And even better is there anything built into the ggplot2 library to create plots that collapse across some variables?

  • How do I do a semijoin using SQLAlchemy?

    - by Jason Baker
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relational_algebra#Semijoin Let's say that I have two tables: A and B. I want to make a query that would work similarly to the following SQL statement using the SQLAlchemy orm: SELECT A.* FROM A, B WHERE A.id = B.id AND B.type = 'some type'; The thing is that I'm trying to separate out A and B's logic into different places. So I'd like to make two queries that I can define in separate places: one where A uses B as a subquery, but only returns rows from A. I'm sure this is fairly easy to do, but an example would be nice if someone could show me.

  • Joomla contact form doesn't pass W3C validation

    - by aramaz
    Hi, I get the following error when I try to validate a contact page on my site: document type does not allow element "script" here The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed). One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error). I am using Joomla 1.5.7, and the doctype is <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> Any idea how to fix this?

  • wxPython ,Change the background colour of a StyledTextCtrl

    - by user1357159
    I tried (but nothing happens) self.txt.SetBackgroundColour ((255,0,0)) As said in the title I'm trying to change the background colour StyledTextCtrl. Does anyone know a method that could be used? I've checked the API docs but I couldn't seem to find one, http://wxpython.org/docs/api/wx.stc.StyledTextCtrl-class.html (by background colour, I mean the whole writing area, of course) Does anyone know a way I could do this? EDIT: The background doesn't change in the following code import wx import wx.stc app = wx.App(redirect=True) top = wx.Frame(None, title="StyledTXTCtrl", size=(300,200)) txt=wx.stc.StyledTextCtrl(top) txt.SetBackgroundColour((255,255,0)) txt.Refresh() top.Show() app.MainLoop()

  • "No row with the given identifier exists" although it DOES exist!

    - by roesslerj
    Hello all! I am using Hibernate and getting Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.ObjectNotFoundException: No row with the given identifier exists: [<MyDbObject>#271] What is pretty weird about this error is, that the object with the given id exists in the database. I inserted the problematic record in another run of the application. If I access it in the same run (i.e. same hibernate session) there seem to be no problems retrieving the data. Just because it could be a fault of the mapping: public class ProblemClass { @ManyToOne(optional = false) private MyDbObject myDbObject; } public class MyDbObject { @OneToMany(mappedBy = "myDbObject") private List<ProblemClass> problemClasses; } I have absolutely no clue even where to look at. Any hints highly appreciated!

  • What will be the setup process for website development?

    - by Vijay Shanker
    Hi, I want to create a simple site for my personal usage. And this only in python based technologies. So I want to get a expert oponian on this topic. What should i used as platform? I did a search for available options and found Django, grok, web2py and many more of these. Which one a novice use should use? If I choose to use only the basic python scripts then what option i have to work on? http://wiki.python.org/moin/WebBrowserProgramming. This link on python site confused me more, instead of solving my curiosity about the topic. Please give some pointer to accurate and easy to understand reading materials. I have got a idea of developing java based web applications using either spring-webmvc and struts. Can I relate Java process to python process for web development?

  • MacPorts: Add an option to configure script

    - by Jeffrey Aylesworth
    I am trying to install libguichan without allegro support, because allegro will not build on Snow Leopard. It should be left out, the portfile has: 27 if {${os.platform} == "darwin" && (([variant_isset universal] && [string match *64* $universal_archs]) || (![variant_isset universal] && [string match *64 $build_arch]))} { 28 # allegro is not yet 64-bit compatible 29 depends_lib-delete port:allegro 30 configure.args-append --disable-allegro 31 } But when I install it, it tries to build allegro. Is there any way I can get this functionality from the command line to install it? The port: http://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/graphics/libguichan/Portfile

  • IE8 positions DIV overlay wrong way and keeps playing video when it's hidden.

    - by George
    Hi! Please take a look at: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/PasswordGenerator/default.aspx (the Overview tab, on the diagram). The issue is wjen you click on any of the diagram elements say "Character Groups" all browsers, except IE8 behave well - that is they display the overlay, start playing a video, and when the overlay is closed, the video stops playing an the div is hidden. IE8, on the other hand has two flaws: it positions the overlay way towards the bottom and too much to the right, and even more annoyingly - it keeps playing video in the background even when the overlay div is closed! I use flowplayer.org/tools/overlay/ for overlay. Can you help please? Thanks.

    Hi, is it possible to define two sections in the web.xml in order to catch two different exception types: <!-- general exception --> <error-page> <exception-type>**java.lang.Exception**</exception-type> <location>/generalError.jsp</location> </error-page> <!-- specific exception --> <error-page> <exception-type>org.myapp.myException</exception-type> <location>/sessionTimeout.jsp</location> </error-page> Does it has any conflict? THANKS!

  • Java escape HTML - string replace slow?

    - by cpf
    Hi StackOverflow, I have a Java application that makes heavy use of a large file, to read, process and give through to SolrEmbeddedServer (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/). One of the functions does basic HTML escaping: private String htmlEscape(String input) { return input.replace("&", "&amp;").replace(">", "&gt;").replace("<", "&lt;") .replace("'", "&apos;").replaceAll("\"", "&quot;"); } While profiling the application, the program spends roughly 58% of the time in this function, a total of 47% in replace, and 11% in replaceAll. Now, is the Java replace that slow, or am I on the right path and should I consider the program efficient enough to have its bottleneck in Java and not in my code? (Or am I replacing wrong?) Thanks in advance!

  • How to write custom SQLite functions in Javascript inside a Webkit browser?

    - by Jay Godse
    I have just learned how to use the SQLite database for local storage in a Webkit web browser (e.g. Google Chrome or Apple Safari) using the Javascript API. For example the "Sticky Notes" application. However, I know that SQLite has a function called sqlite_create_function() that lets you add custom functions to your instance of SQLite on the fly which can then be used inside SQL queries. This function is described at sqlite.org. I also know that you can call an equivalent of this API in Ruby as described here. QUESTION: Can anybody show me how to do this in Javascript - i.e. write a custom function in Javascript that can be bound into the SQLite database at run time to be called by the SQLite engine, and all inside a Webkit browser?

  • jCarousel Lite - center images horizontally and vertically

    - by carillonator
    I have jCarousel Lite going in Drupal with images of various sizes/aspect ratios. I'm not having much luck trying to center the images vertically and horizontally (i.e. evenly-spaced). The plugin requires that the images be in a <ul><li><img ... /></li></ul>. I've tried display:inline-block, marginTop:50% among other things, most of which just screw up the carousel. The carousel is posted at: http://carillontech.org/drupal/ thanks!!

  • Ruby on Rails - Working with times

    - by miligraf
    If in a database (MySQL), I have a datetime column (ex. 1899-12-30 19:00:00), how do I sum 1 day to it? Following http://corelib.rubyonrails.org/classes/Time.html#M000240 If I want to add 1 day, it actually adds 60*60*24 days (86,400 days) r=Record.find(:first) =>Sat, 30 Dec 1899 19:00:00 -0600 r.date + (60*60*24) =>Fri, 20 Jul 2136 19:00:00 -0600 But if I do this it actually adds 1 day: t = Time.now =>Mon Jun 14 10:32:51 -0600 2010 t + (60 * 60 * 24) =>Tue Jun 15 10:33:21 -0600 2010 I guess it has to do with the format...how do I make this work?

  • extending spring form tag library attributes

    - by TimmyJ
    I'm using Spring's form tag library in a Spring MVC application that I am developing. The company I am working for has implemented some company-wide policies based on the definition of custom attributes for certain tags. For instance, by default (though the inclusion of a standard javascript file) all tags have their values automatically converted to upper case. In order to disable this one would define their tag with a custom attribute in the following way: <input type="text" uppercase="false" /> The problem is that the addition of these custom attributes to a spring:form tag causes an error at runtime. I've pasted the error below. org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/jsp/reportCriteria.jsp(45,5) Attribute uppercase invalid for tag input according to TLD My question is: is there any way to extend the TLD to allow for these attributes, or is there any other way add these custom attributes to these spring:form tags?

  • Understanding Clojure concurrency example

    - by dusha
    Hello, I just go through various documentation on Clojure concurrency and came accross the example on the website (http://clojure.org/concurrent_programming). (import '(java.util.concurrent Executors)) (defn test-stm [nitems nthreads niters] (let [refs (map ref (replicate nitems 0)) pool (Executors/newFixedThreadPool nthreads) tasks (map (fn [t] (fn [] (dotimes [n niters] (dosync (doseq [r refs] (alter r + 1 t)))))) (range nthreads))] (doseq [future (.invokeAll pool tasks)] (.get future)) (.shutdown pool) (map deref refs))) I understand what it does and how it works, but I don't get why the second anonymous function fn[] is needed? Many thanks, dusha. P.S. Without this second fn [] I get NullPointerException.

  • Ajax request with prototype - what is transport if not only responseText?

    - by Delirium tremens
    This is an example code from the prototype site. var url = '/proxy?url=' + encodeURIComponent('http://www.google.com/search?q=Prototype'); // notice the use of a proxy to circumvent the Same Origin Policy. new Ajax.Request(url, { method: 'get', onSuccess: function(transport) { var notice = $('notice'); if (transport.responseText.match(/href="http:\/\/prototypejs.org/)) notice.update('Yeah! You are in the Top 10!').setStyle({ background: '#dfd' }); else notice.update('Damn! You are beyond #10...').setStyle({ background: '#fdd' }); } }); The data that comes from the ajax request is available at transport.responseText, but what is transport if not only responseText?

  • iPhone - AES256 Encryption Using Built In Library

    - by Robert
    Hey all, I am using http://pastie.org/966473 as a reference as all I need to do is encrypt something using AES256 encrypting. I created a class and put the implementation in the pastie on top of the implementation for my class. @implementation //pastie code @end @implementation //my class code @end In my class code I create a NSMutableData and try to call the EncryptAES method and I get a warning saying it might not respond to that. What am I doing wrong here? do I need to implement the pastie code elsewhere? Thanks for any help.

  • Sending an SMS myself

    - by user246114
    Hi, I'm taking shots in the dark here. I'd like to create a web service where eventually I send an SMS by using my own hardware. I'm not sure what I need in order to send an SMS myself. I don't want to use any of the existing SMS send services out there, I need to be able to send these SMS myself. It looks like there's one opensource project in particular that deals with this, "Kannel": http://www.kannel.org/ what I don't understand is, do I need to get a GSM modem to be able to send SMS? Do SMS gateways (like Kannel) eventually need to get to a GSM modem to send messages, or is there some other hardware you need to be able to actually send the messages? Thanks

  • Virtual directories as DB queries

    I have a site, e.g. site.com I would like users to be able to access it in their locale at site.com/somecity This is similar to craigslist, but they do it with subdomains e.g. sfbay.craigslist.org Using Apache HTTP server. MySql for DB. If you can provide a brief explanation and perhaps links to more thorough discussions, I would be quite interested in learning. I'm developing a web-app and wonder if I should focus some time to read up on Apache, or should I focus more of my time on server-side programming. Thanks!

This is how I did it: #! /bin/sh host1=google.com host2=wikipedia.org curr_date=`date +"%Y%m%d%H%M"` echo -n "${curr_date};" ((ping -w5 -c3 $host1 || ping -w5 -c3 $host2) > /dev/null 2>&1) && echo "up" || (echo "down" && exit 1) How would you do it? Which hosts would you ping? Thanks in advance.
