  • Why can't I fade out this table row in IE using jQuery?

    I can't get the table row to fade out in IE. It works in Chrome, but not IE. It just becomes really 'light' and stays on the screen.   • NSMutableURLRequest wont turn on 3G

    I won't bother posting any code because my code works fine when I launch Safari or something that turns on the 3G connection first. When I put it Airport mode, then put back OFF, I will get the behavior of a connection error saying No internet connection with NSMutableURLRequest. I've personally mailed apple about how the Ant gets turned on and off, and they said anything that uses their base CFSocketStream object will turn on the Ant, and I quote: "such as NSURLRequest".. BSD Sockets do not, just so everyone knows.. However, I assumed NSMutableURLRequest would fall into the category of 'Does', but it seems like it doesnt. It never succeeds for me when I cycle Airport or have the phone idle for a long time. It will ALWAYS succeed when I open any other network app first to turn the Ant on. Shall I be forced to do a dummy NSURLRequest call to turn this on; or has anyone been able to get this class working just fine? Remember this is just an implementation of NSMutableURLRequest to upload a file Async, and no other Network operations are performed anywhere; no ads, no version checks, no nothing.

    Maybe it's because it's late. Whatever the reason I can't figure out why I'm having trouble with a simple CSScrollLayer example I'm trying.     Hi! I am developing a template based addin for Word 2003 which allows the user to drag and drop elements from a listbox into the word document. Unfortunately I'm getting a really strange behaviour when trying to drop elements in the document's header. Open the template and type something in the header Close the header and insert some content on the page Add a page break. Switch to page layout mode where and set zoom level to "Two Pages" Open the header Slowly Drag and Drop an list item from the list box to the header. See multiple Page Setups dialogs occur which cause Word to crash. The actual validation is happening, but the XAML that's supposed to update the UI and set the style isn't happening. If yes, can I make the XML_Serialize put it before each tag (without renaming my data structure fields to "mx:something")?   • MySQL-python 1.2.3 and OS X 10.5: 64- or 32-bit?

    I've been happily using Django and MySQL in development on an existing machine running OS X 10.4 Tiger, and have set up a similar environment in 10.5 Leopard on a new 64-bit MacBook, with a working MySQL and Python 2.6.4. However, now I want them to communicate, easy_install MySQL-python gave ld warnings that the file is not of the required architecture, which led me to test my Python 2.4.6 install (from the Mac OS X disc image): >>> import sys >>> sys.maxint 2147483647 Ah. So my Python install appears to be 32-bit and (I think?) won't install MySQL-python for my 64-bit MySQL. There are lots of hacks out there for MySQL-python on OS X (mostly 1.2.2), but - after hours of reading - I'm pretty sure they won't fix this architecture mismatch. So I'm stuck because I can't decide whether to: give up, remove the 64-bit MySQL install (thorough methods, please?) and use the 32-bit MySQL disc image instead; re-install Python in 64-bit mode from the tarball, --with-universal archs-64-bit and --enable-universalsdk= as detailed in Python.org's 2.6 news. So my questions for anyone who has encountered this issue are: Is installing 64-bit Python on OS X 10.5 worth bothering with? If so, (naive, lazy question!) how are the two required arguments combined? If I just skip along in 32-bit (as on my working setup) what am I missing? I'm after a hassle-free install that's easy to reproduce on other machines (possible student use) so I'd really welcome your opinions, please!

  • Can't disable method parenthesis auto-complete in Eclipse

    I'm trying to disable the automatic closing of brackets in Eclipse, and while I've mostly succeeded, I can't stop the editor from inserting a closing parenthesis for a method call. The result is that when I type: myBool.equals(true); it inserts a closing parenthesis as soon as I type the opening parenthesis, and what I actually get is: myBool.equals(true);) I've disabled all of the auto-complete options in the Preferences - Java - Editor - Typing menu, as well as Preferences - Java - Editor - Content Assist - Fill method arguments and show guessed arguments. I also disabled the smart insert mode option under the Edit menu. Is there another option somewhere else I need to use to stop Eclipse from doing this? This is with Eclipse 3.5.2 (Build ID M20100211-1343) in case it matters. Edited to add: I should also mention that this only happens if I wait for the "intellisense" pop-up with suggested method names to appear after I type the period. If I just continuously type the code without waiting for the suggestion box to appear, the closing parenthesis doesn't get inserted.

    I am building my first Silverlight 3 + RI Services application and need some help. It will be deployed in an controlled corporate intranet, 100% windows clients. I have started from the Silverlight Business Application template. These are my requirements: Upon launch the application needs to recognize the currently logged-in user. The application needs to have access to other properties of the user in AD, such as email, full name, and group membership. Group membership is used to grand certain features in the application. A "login as a different user" link is to be always available - Some machines are available throughout the enterprise, logged-in as a certain generic user (verified by the absence of certain membership groups). In this case one can enter credentials and log in (impersonate) to the application as a user different from the one already logged-into the machine. This user is to be used in service calls I have modified the following in the default Business Application template: App.xaml: appsvc:WindowsAuthentication instead of the default FormsAuthentication Web.config: authentication mode="Windows" With these modifications I resolve requirement #1 (get the currently logged-in user). But when I examine RiaContext.Current.User, I don't have access to other properties from AD, such as group memberships. How can I achieve my other requirements? Thanks for your help.

Is there a cleaner way to implement this sort of 'only when in production mode' without loading up the domain class?

  • Help me re-center a ModalPopup within an iframe when the iframe's parent window scrolls

    I have a web page with an iframe in it (I don't like it, but that's the way it has to be). It's not a cross-domain iframe so there's nothing to worry about there. I have written a jQuery extension that does the centering of a ModalPopup (which is called from an overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._layout method) based on the width and height of the iframe's parent, so that it looks centered even though the iframe is not in the center of the page. It's a lot of tricky stuff, especially since the web page I added the iframe to runs in quirks mode. Now, I've also overridden AjaxControlToolkit.ModalPopupBehavior._attachPopup, so that when the parent window resizes or scrolls, the ModalPopup inside of the iframe recenter's itself relative to the new size of the parent window. However, the same code that attaches the popup to the parent window's resize event does NOT work for the parent window's scroll event. I am rewriting a script using multi dimension array (Pass values into the arrays in and out of procedure) in TCL to scan through the every .txt file and search for the the string/regular expression ‘Interface # ’ to count and display the number of occurrences. If someone could help me to complete this part will be much appreciated.   • Running directx SDK samples on a Windows Mobile 6.1 device

    I tried to run the directx samples from ..\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\Samples\PocketPC\CPP\win32\directx\d3dm\tutorials on a Samsung Omnia and on the emulator and it doesn't work because of a deployment error. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and have installed Windows Mobile SDK Standard and Professional refresh. The device is correctly plugged in and set up for active sync (I know this because other samples work, also a creating Win32 smart device application and running it works). When I try to run a directx sample application it compiles without errors but the message: " There were deployment errors, Continue? Yes/No" appears If I manually copy the application from the debug folder to the device and run it from there, it works. The same deployment error message appears if I try it on an emulator. Other applications are deploying successfully. Is there any way to make the deployment work? Maybe there is an obscure option I need to set... What I do is: Connect the Mobile device to the PC, Open Visual Studio 2008, Open a directx sample project, Click Run (in Debug or Release mode).

For a project I'm working on that includes recording sound, the input levels sound a little quiet both when the route is external mic + speaker and when it's headphone mic + headphones. Does anyone know definitively whether it is possible to programmatically change mic gain levels on the iPhone in any part of Core Audio? If not, is it possible that I'm not really in "speakerphone" mode (with the external mic at least) but only think I am?   • Why can't HTC Droid running OTA 2.1 communicate with RFCOMM?

    Yesterday we received OTA Android 2.1 on my wife's HTC Droid - HOORAY!!! I am finally able to load my carputer app on her phone. Well we loaded it, but it doesn't work. Specifically, it connects but sees no I/O!!! I paired, re-paired, and re-paired again, every time its the same problem: connect() says we connected successfully, but any attempt to send or receive data appears to work but no data ever arrives in the input buffer. The device I'm connecting to uses AT commands. ATI should respond with a device ID. That works fine when I run the app on my Moto Droid, but on the HTC droid, no data is ever present in the inputstream/buffer. Personally, I'm feeling pretty sure it's a bug or limitation in this release for the HTC (because the app works great on my Moto A855 Droid). Can anybody comment on the issue?   • Get an Arduino and Android phone to communicate over the web

    I am writing an Android application to communicate with my Arduino over the web. The Arduino is running a web server through an Ethernet shield. I am attaching my code, but I will explain it here so you will understand what I am trying to do. The Android sends an HTTP request in the format http://192.168.1.148/?Lights=1. The Arduino gets the request, executes the command (in this case turning on some lights) and then responds to the Android device by simply sending the string "Lights=On". The Android will then change the color of the button to notify the user that the command was executed successfully. The Arduino is getting the instruction and executing it and sending the response but my button color is not changing. I know that the Android device is getting the string because I added a debug line to change the text on the button to the received response.     I am experimenting with a WYSIWYG editor that allows a user to draw shapes on a page and the Qt graphics scene support seems perfect for this. However, instead of working in pixels I want all my QGraphicsItem objects to work in tenths of a millimetre but I don't know how to achieve this. For example: // Create a scene that is the size if an A4 page (2100 = 21cm, 2970 = 29.7cm) QGraphicsScene* scene = new QGraphicsScene(0, 0, 2100, 2970); // Add a rectangle located 1cm across, 1cm down, 5cm wide and 2cm high QGraphicsItem* item = scene->addRect(100, 100, 500, 200); ... QGraphicsView* view = new QGraphicsView(scene); setCentralWidget(view); Now, when I display the scene above I want the shapes to appear at correct size for the screen DPI. Is this simply a case of using QGraphicsView::scale or do I have to do something more complicated? Note that if I was using a custom QWidget instead then I would use QPainter::setWindow and QPainter::setViewport to create a custom mapping mode but I can't see how to do this using the graphics scene support.

  • My simple program runs on Android emulator, but not on my Nexus One

    To clarify, I have no trouble getting the Nexus One connected in developer's mode. I can actually get Eclipse to "run" my program on my Nexus One. However, my Nexus One simply gets stuck in a reboot loop. I've also created an .apk file and put it onto my Nexus One, installing it with apkInstaller. However, it crashed while installing. I see my app on my phone, but I'm kind of afraid to run it. I am not doing anything fancy in my program; all it does is generate text by shuffling a couple arrays of strings together. It uses a bunch of text views, two buttons, and a spinner. I have only edited the main source file, the strings XML file, and the layout XML file, nothing else. It's a 2.1-update1 program and it runs fine on the emulator. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I'm using Windows 7 (32 bit) and my Nexus One is running Cyanogen 5.0.7.1. I'm pretty sure it's my code that's causing the problem. Now I'm just wondering if there are any common mistakes that would lead my app to run on the emulator but not on my device.     Problem In our production environment, system occasionally delays the page response of an ASP.NET MVC application up to 30 seconds or so, even though same page renders in 2-3 seconds most of the times. This happens randomly with any arbitrary page, and GET or POST type requests. For example, log files indicates, system took 15 seconds to complete a request for jquery script file or for other small css file it took 10 secs. Similar Problems: Random Slow Downs Production Environment: Windows Server 2008 - Standard (32-bit) - App Pool running in integrated mode. ASP.NET MVC 1.0 We have tried followings/observations: Moved the application to a stand alone web server, but, it didn't help. We didn't ever notice same issue on the server for any 'ASP.NET' application. App Pool settings are fine. No abrupt recycles/shutdowns. No cpu spikes or memory problems. No delays due to SQL queries or so. It seems as something causing delay along HTTP Pipeline or worker processor seeing the request late. Looking for other suggestions. -- Thanks

    Somehow I've managed to completely bugger the install of postgresql on Ubuntu karmic. I want to start over from scratch, but when I "purge" the package with apt-get it still leaves traces behind such that the reinstall configuration doesn't run properly. After I've done: apt-get purge postgresql apt-get install postgresql It said Setting up postgresql-8.4 (8.4.3-0ubuntu9.10.1) ... Configuring already existing cluster (configuration: /etc/postgresql/8.4/main, data: /var/lib/postgresql/8.4/main, owner: 108:112) Error: move_conffile: required configuration file /var/lib/postgresql/8.4/main/postgresql.conf does not exist Error: could not create default cluster. Please create it manually with pg_createcluster 8.4 main --start or a similar command (see 'man pg_createcluster'). update-alternatives: using /usr/share/postgresql/8.4/man/man1/postmaster.1.gz to provide /usr/share/man/man1/postmaster.1.gz (postmaster.1.gz) in auto mode. Setting up postgresql (8.4.3-0ubuntu9.10.1) ... I have a "/etc/postgresql" with nothing in it and "/etc/postgresql-common/" has a 'pg_upgradecluser.d' directory and root.crt and user_clusters files. The /etc/passwd has a postgres user; the purge script doesn't appear to touch it. There's been a bunch of symptoms which I work through only to expose the next. Right this second, when I run that command "pg_createcluster..." it complains that '/var/lib/postgresql/8.4/main/postgresql.conf does not exist', so I'll go find one of those but I'm sure that won't be the end of it. Is there not some easy one-liner (or two) which will burn it completely and let me start over?
