  • Programmatically printing git revision and checking for uncommitted changes

    - by Andrew Grimm
    To ensure that my scientific analysis is reproducible, I'd like to programmatically check if there are any modifications to the code base that aren't checked in, and if not, print out what commit is being used. For example, if there are uncommitted changes, it should output Warning: uncommitted changes made. This output may not be reproducible. Else, produce Current commit: d27ec73cf2f1df89cbccd41494f579e066bad6fe Ideally, it should use "plumbing", not "porcelain".

  • cannot delete from doubly linked list using visual studios in C

    - by Jesus Sanchez
    hello I am currently doing an assignment that is supposed to read in a file, use the information, and then print out another file. all using doubly linked list. Currently i am trying to just read in the file into a doubly linked list, print it out onto the screen and a file, and finally delete the list and close the program. The program works fine as long as I don't call the dlist_distroy function which is supposed to delete the string. as soon as I do it the program starts running and then a window pops up saying "Windows has triggered a breakpoint in tempfilter.exe. This may be due to a corruption of the heap, which indicates a bug in tempfilter.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded. This may also be due to the user pressing F12 while tempfilter.exe has focus. The output window may have more diagnostic information." I have revised the destroy and remove functions and cant understand the problem. my program is the following main.c #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include "dlinklist.h" #include "DlistElmt.h" #include "Dlist.h" #include "dlistdata.h" /**************************************************************************************************/ int main ( int argc, char *argv[] ) { FILE *ifp, *ofp; int hour, min; Dlist *list; DlistElmt *current=NULL, *element; float temp; list = (Dlist *)malloc(sizeof(list)); element = (DlistElmt *)malloc(sizeof(element)); if ( argc != 3 ) /* argc should be 3 for correct execution */ { /* We print argv[0] assuming it is the program name */ /* TODO: This is wrong, it should be: usage: %s inputfile outputfile */ printf( "usage: %s filename", argv[0] ); } else { // We assume argv[1] is a filename to open ifp = fopen( argv[1], "r" ); if (ifp == 0 ){ printf("Could not open file\n"); } else{ ofp = fopen(argv[2], "w"); dlist_init(list);//, (destroy)(hour, min, temp)); while (fscanf(ifp, "%d:%d %f ", &hour, &min, &temp) == 3) { current=list->tail; if(dlist_size(list)==0){ dlist_ins_prev(list, current, hour, min, temp); } else{ dlist_ins_next(list, current, hour, min, temp); } } current = list->head; while(current != NULL){ if(current==list->head){ current=current->next; } else if((current->temp > (current->prev->temp +5)) || (current->temp < (current->prev->temp -5))){ dlist_remove(list, current); current=current->next; } else current=current->next; } current = list->head; while(current != NULL){ printf("%d:%d %2.1lf\n" ,current->time, current->time2, current->temp ); fprintf(ofp, "%d:%d %2.1lf\n", current->time, current->time2, current->temp ); current = current->next; } //dlist_destroy(list); //} fclose(ifp); fclose(ofp); } } getchar(); } dlistdata.c #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include "dlinklist.h" #include "DlistElmt.h" #include "dlistdata.h" /**************************************************************************************************/ void dlist_init(Dlist *list){ list->size = 0; list->head = NULL; list->tail = NULL; return; } void dlist_destroy(Dlist *list){ while (dlist_size(list) > 0){ dlist_remove(list, list->head); } memset(list, 0, sizeof(Dlist)); return; } int dlist_ins_next(Dlist *list, DlistElmt *element, const int time, const int time2, const float temp){ DlistElmt *new_element; if (element == NULL && dlist_size(list) != 0) return -1; if ((new_element = (DlistElmt *)malloc(sizeof(new_element))) == NULL) return -1; new_element->time = (int )time; new_element->time2 = (int )time2; new_element->temp = (float )temp; if (dlist_size(list) == 0) { list->head = new_element; list->head->prev = NULL; list->head->next = NULL; list->tail = new_element; } else { new_element->next = element->next; new_element->prev = element; if(element->next == NULL) list->tail = new_element; else element->next->prev = new_element; element->next = new_element; } list->size++; return 0; } int dlist_ins_prev(Dlist *list, DlistElmt *element, const int time, const int time2, const float temp){ DlistElmt *new_element; if (element == NULL && dlist_size(list) != 0) return -1; if ((new_element = (DlistElmt *)malloc(sizeof(new_element))) == NULL) return -1; new_element->time = (int )time; new_element->time2 = (int )time2; new_element->temp = (float )temp; if (dlist_size(list) == 0){ list->head = new_element; list->head->prev = NULL; list->head->next=NULL; list->tail = new_element; } else{ new_element->next = element; new_element->prev = element->prev; if(element->prev ==NULL) list->head = new_element; else element->prev->next = new_element; element->prev = new_element; } list->size++; return 0; } int dlist_remove(Dlist *list, DlistElmt *element){//, int time, int time2, float temp){ if (element == NULL || dlist_size(list) == 0) return -1; if (element == list->head) { list->head = element->next; if (list->head == NULL) list->tail = NULL; else element->next->prev = NULL; } else{ element->prev->next = element->next; if (element->next = NULL) list->tail = element->prev; else element->next->prev = element->prev; } free(element); list->size--; return 0; }

  • PHP Error handling in WordPress plugin

    - by AaronM
    I am a newbie to both PHP and Wordpress (but do ok in C#), and am struggling to understand the error handling in a custom plugin I am attempting to write. The basics of the plugin is to query an exsiting MSSQL database (note its not the standard MYSQL db...) and return the rows back to the screen. This was working well, but the hosting provider has taken my database offline, which led me to the error handling problem (which I thought was ok). The following code is failing to connect to the database (as expected), but puts an error onto the screen and stops the page processing. It does not even output the 'or die' error text. QUESTION: How can I just output a simple "Cant load data" message, and continue on normally? function generateData() { global $post; if ("$post->post_title" == "Home") { try { $myServer = "<servername>"; $myUser = "<username>"; $myPass = "<password>"; $myDB = "<dbName>"; //connection to the database $dbhandle = mssql_connect($myServer, $myUser, $myPass) or die("Couldn't open database $myDB"); //... query processing here... } catch (Exception $e) { echo "Cannot load data<br />"; } } return $content; } Error being generated: (line 31 is $dbhandle = mssql_connect...) Warning: mssql_connect() [function.mssql-connect]: Unable to connect to server: <servername> in <file path> on line 31 Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in <file path> on line 31

  • jquery ui tabs problem

    - by Eagletrophy
    hi good people, been a while I have had my hands full with a cold but I came back to a problem we never found an answer to, it the homepage of a site I am workin and I said that my tabs would just scatter on a resolution less than mine or around it but not quite. I am on a 1280x800 screen and it displays no problem but as soon as I drop to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 or anything like that this is what it looks like. I wanted to post the code but it means posting alot of HTML and I don't think that will be healthy. hopefully the screenshot will. some one said a while back that my tabs were too big so i reduced them and still. here is the screen shot though: HERE IS THE CSS THAT POWERS THE ADVERTS. THE CSS FOR THE REST OF THE SITE IS JUST A NORMAL JQUERY UI BASE. #adverts{ padding:0px; width:400px; height:109px; float: right; margin-top: auto; margin-left:320px; /* margin-right: auto; */ } enter code here

  • Android maps out of memory error

    - by SamB09
    Hi , sometimes when running a google maps program with an overlay image i will receive a bit map out of memory error. It always seems to be at a random point in the app. Im not sure how to solve this. Anyone have any ideas ? My overlay code is below , im not sure if you need to see the class its called in though? public class MyOverlay2 extends Overlay { private static final double MAX_TAP_DISTANCE_KM = 3; // Rough approximation - one degree = 50 nautical miles private static final double MAX_TAP_DISTANCE_DEGREES = MAX_TAP_DISTANCE_KM * 0.5399568 * 50; private final GeoPoint gPoint; private final Context cont; private final int draw; // private final int lat; public MyOverlay2(Context cont, GeoPoint gPoint1, int draw) { // constructor will be called in the userLocation class to draw an overly image this.cont = cont; this.gPoint = gPoint1; this.draw = draw; } @Override public boolean draw(Canvas canvas, MapView mapView, boolean shadow, long when) { // constructor takes 3 arguments super.draw(canvas, mapView, shadow); // Convert geo coordinates to screen pixels Point screenPoint = new Point(); mapView.getProjection().toPixels(gPoint, screenPoint); //Read the image from the xml resource using a bitmap factory BitmapFactory.Options options=new BitmapFactory.Options(); options.inSampleSize = 1; Bitmap preview_bitmap=BitmapFactory.decodeResource(cont.getResources(),R.drawable.monday12,options); //draw the image at the location specified by the co-ordinates canvas.drawBitmap(preview_bitmap, screenPoint.x - preview_bitmap.getWidth() /2, screenPoint.y - preview_bitmap.getHeight()/2 , null); // get the images height and width values divided by two draw the image at the specified screen points return true; } @Override public boolean onTap(GeoPoint s, MapView mapView) { // Handle tapping on the overlay here return true; } }

  • Most efficient way to search the last x lines of a file in python

    - by Harley
    I have a file and I don't know how big it's going to be (it could be quite large, but the size will vary greatly). I want to search the last 10 lines or so to see if any of them match a string. I need to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible and was wondering if there's anything better than: s = "foo" last_bit = fileObj.readlines()[-10:] for line in last_bit: if line == s: print "FOUND"

  • Android: Determine when app is being finalized

    - by Matt
    Hi all, I posted a question yesterday about determining when an app is being finalized vs destroyed for screen orientation change. Thanks to the answers I received I was able to resolve my problem with the screen orientation change. However, I am still running into a roadblock. This app I am working on logs into a website with an HttpClient. As long as the app remains in memory the HttpClient will retain the cookies from logging in. However, once it is killed, it would need to log in again. My question: How can I determine when the app is being killed from memory so I can set a boolean to false telling the app it has been removed from memory so the next time it starts it will read this and determine is must log in again? Or is it possible to serialize an HttpClient and put that in the savedInstanceState bundle? May extract the cookies from the client and put those in the savedInstanceState bundle? Is there something I'm completely missing here maybe? Any help or a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated because this one has me stumped. Thank you!

  • mod_perl memory

    - by Pavel Georgiev
    Hi, I have a perl script running in mod_perl that needs to write a large amount of data to the client, possibly over a long period. The behavior that I observe is that once I print and flush something, the buffer memory is not reclaimed even though I rflush (I know this cant be reclaimed back by the OS). Is that how mod_perl operates and is there a way that I can force it to periodically free the buffer memory, so that I can use that for new buffers instead of taking more from the OS?

  • Rendering Swing Components to an Offscreen buffer

    - by Nick C
    I have a Java (Swing) application, running on a 32-bit Windows 2008 Server, which needs to render it's output to an off-screen image (which is then picked up by another C++ application for rendering elsewhere). Most of the components render correctly, except in the odd case where a component which has just lost focus is occluded by another component, for example where there are two JComboBoxes close to each other, if the user interacts with the lower one, then clicks on the upper one so it's pull-down overlaps the other box. In this situation, the component which has lost focus is rendered after the one occluding it, and so appears on top in the output. It renders correctly in the normal Java display (running full-screen on the primary display), and attempting to change the layers of the components in question does not help. I am using a custom RepaintManager to paint the components to the offscreen image, and I assume the problem lies with the order in which addDirtyRegion() is called for each of the components in question, but I can't think of a good way of identifying when this particular state occurs in order to prevent it. Hacking it so that the object which has just lost focus is not repainted stops the problem, but obviously causes the bigger problem that it is not repainted in all other, normal, circumstances. Is there any way of programmatically identifying this state, or of reordering things so that it does not occur? Many thanks, Nick

  • A view "transparent" to touches in some areas

    - by Mike
    I have this transparent view that covers the whole screen. I using this view to group objects because I need to run them together around a specific anchor point. Lets call this view transparentView. At some point, transparentView contains two subviews. Two vertical bars full of icons, one on the left and one on the right of the screen. I need these bars and their icons to respond to touches, so I have to set transparentView setUserInteraction to YES. The area between the two vertical bars are totally transparent. transparentView is on top of other views and I need these other views to respond to taps but, the transparent area of transparentView are intercepting the taps and not letting them go thru to the view below. This transparent view is a UIImageView based class. I have tried to forward taps on that class, using - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesBegan: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesMoved: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self.nextResponder touchesEnded: touches withEvent:event]; } - (void)touchesCancelled:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { [self touchesEnded:touches withEvent:event]; } but this is not working. How can I do that? thanks.

  • iPhone UI layout debugging

    - by Cruinh
    I have this chronic issue with iPhone UI development where views sometimes seem to appear on the screen in a location different than what is reported by their frame property. Here is what I am doing to try to debug the issue: UIView *currentView = self.view; while (currentView!=nil) { NSLog(@"frame: %f,%f,%f,%f", currentView.frame.origin.x, currentView.frame.origin.y, currentView.frame.size.width, currentView.frame.size.height); currentView = currentView.superview; } I expect this should show me the coordinates and size of each element up the hierarchy from the given view to the app's root UIWindow element, with the coordinates for each element relative to its parent. However, that does not seem to be the case. In my current situation, I have a UI I'm trying to debug where every other time I rotate the device, the whole UI shifts up or down 20 pixels, yet the code block above reports exactly the same numbers every time. I tried calling the above code after as much as a second delay, but that the numbers still come out the same each time. Does anyone know a better way to inspect the screen coordinates of UI elements? If I can detect when one is wrong, I can compensate for the problem when it appears.

  • Android - I can't make a widget clickable to launch an intent

    - by Daniele
    Hi all. I am new to Android development. I have developed a very simple widget that was meant to interact with the user via an ImageButton. What I am trying to do now is as follows. When a user taps the button (after adding the widget to their home screen), I want the phone to dial a certain telephone number. A sort of speed dial for your home screen. Unfortunately when I tap the button nothing happens. This is the body of my SpeedDialAppWidgetProvider.onUpdate method: Log.d("", "beginning of onUpdate"); final int N = appWidgetIds.length; for (int i=0; i<N; i++) { int appWidgetId = appWidgetIds[i]; Log.d("", "dealing with appWidgetId: " + appWidgetId); // Create an Intent to launch ExampleActivity Intent dialIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse("tel:1234567")); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, dialIntent, 0); Log.d("", "pendingIntent classname " + pendingIntent.getClass().getName()); // Get the layout for the App Widget and attach an on-click listener to the button RemoteViews remoteViews = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(), R.layout.speed_dial_appwidget); remoteViews.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.dial_icon, pendingIntent); Log.d("", "remoteViews classname " + remoteViews.getClass().getName()); // Tell the AppWidgetManager to perform an update on the current App Widget appWidgetManager.updateAppWidget(appWidgetId, remoteViews); Log.d("", "end of onUpdate"); I can see the method is called and the result of the logging makes sense. The speed_dial_appwidget.xml file is like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" androidrientation="vertical" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <ImageButton id="@+id/dial_icon" android:src="@drawable/speed_dial" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> </LinearLayout> Can you please help me with this? Thanks in advance, Dan

  • Make PasswordRecovery control work with locked out users ?

    - by Moe Sisko
    Example scenario in an ASP.NET application using SQL Server membership provider : 1) a user can't remember their exact password, and tries many times in a short space of time to login with an invalid password (say 5 times in a 10 minute window). This locks out the user (i.e. sets the IsLockedOut flag of the aspnet_Membership table to 1). 2) user goes to the "forgot my password" screen to try to get a new password emailed to them. This screen uses the PasswordRecovery control. User enters their correct user id, but then cannot go further in the password recovery process, since the IsLockedOut flag is 1. (They don't even get to see their security question). 3) The user would then have to phone tech support to get themselves unlocked etc. To reduce the burden on support staff, we are trying to eliminate step 3) if possible, by making the PasswordRecovery control (if possible), work with locked out users. i.e. when they enter their login ID, the security question comes up, and IF they enter the correct answer, the system will unlock the user, then send the new email to them. I'm wondering if it is possible to tweak the PasswordRecovery control to do this. Or maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way ?
