  • Image improvment methods for OCR Engine

    - by Amir
Hello every one, We are working on a software that uses OPENOCR engine to do some OCR on given images, given we are using .NET framework , i was wondering if anyone knows about any good possible filters or sharpening methods that can be applied to the image prior to sending it to OCR engine. I have found for example a grayscaled image is much easier for OCR engine to read than a color images. are there any other techniques or image filttering that you guys know of , that can decrease the error margin by OCR engine ? Thanks a million -Amir

  • jQuery DateTime Picker

    - by fluid_chelsea
I've been looking around for a decent jQuery plugin that can handle both dates and times. The core UI DatePicker is great, but unfortunately I need to be able to take time in as well. I've found a few hacks for the DatePicker to work with times, but they all seem pretty inelegant and google isn't turning up anything nice. Do any of you know of a good jQuery plugin for selecting dates and times in a single UI control with a usable interface? Thanks!

    - by Vivek Sharma

Ethereal/Wireshark Nmap any particular simulators (e.g. ns) any special purpose sniffer any particular frameworks, (e.g. iptables) I am looking at must have, and good/advantage to have tools/framework in ones profile/skill set. I think Wireshark and Nmap are must haves.

  • How to parametrize a test using cppunit

    - by Harald Scheirich
We are using cppunit, i am trying to run the same test using different parameters, running a loop inside the test is not a good option as any failure will abort the test. I have looked at TestDecorator and TestCaller but neither seem to really fit. Code samples would be helpful. Thanks.

  • Hbase / Hadoop Query Help

    - by zechariahs
I'm working on a project with a friend that will utilize Hbase to store it's data. Are there any good query examples? I seem to be writing a ton of Java code to iterate through lists of RowResult's when, in SQL land, I could write a simple query. Am I missing something? Or is Hbase missing something?

  • FIFO semaphore test

    - by L4N0
Hello everyone, I have implemented FIFO semaphores but now I need a way to test/prove that they are working properly. A simple test would be to create some threads that try to wait on a semaphore and then print a message with a number and if the numbers are in order it should be FIFO, but this is not good enough to prove it because that order could have occurred by chance. Thus, I need a better way of testing it. If necessary locks or condition variables can be used too. Thanks

  • Asynchronous message queues and processing like Amazon Simple Queue service in django

    - by becomingGuru
There are many activities on an application that need things like: Send email, Post to twitter thumbnail an image, into several sizes call a cron to find connected relationships A good way to do these tasks is to write into an asynchronous queue on which operations are performed. What django application can be used to implement such functionality, as the one Amazon Simple Queue service offers, locally? I have come across celery. Right thing? Anything else that exists, like this?

I'm trying to validate that a user only enters a long value as input (long bigger than 0 actually). Compare and Range validator has DataTypeCheck for int values only. I was planning on using this class in a CustomValidator but then I would need to write both, client and server side validation code. Do you know of any other good way of doing this? Thanks!

  • Nested Functions in C - Best Practices

    - by Justin Ethier
I just realized a function may be defined inside another function in C: void main(){ int foo(){ return 2; }; printf("%d\n", foo()); } Besides being a neat trick, the useful thing about this is that the inner function is private to the outer function. But... is that a good enough reason to do this in a "real-world" application? What are the best practices for using this syntax?

  • Adding title in contentplaceholder adds second empty title tag

    - by boris callens
My master page has a contentplaceholder in the head tag. Because I want my page's title to represent the function of the current page and because I want the title to be translated in the user's language I have added a title tag in the page's head's contentplaceholder. All jolly and good except that now there appears a second, empty title tag that off course isn't valid. Any ideas how to solve this?

  • ORM market analysis

    - by bonefisher
I would like to see your experience with popular ORM tools outhere, like NHibernate, LLBLGen, EF, S2Q, Genom-e, LightSpeed, DataObjects.NET, OpenAccess, ... From my exp: - Genom-e is quiet capable of Linq & performance, dev support - EF lacks on some key features like lazy loading, Poco support, pers.ignorance... but in 4.o it may have overcome .. - DataObjects.Net so far good, althrough I found some bugs - NHibernate steep learning curve, no 100% Linq support (like in Genom-e and DataObjects.Net), but very supportive, extensible and mature

  • Default route is matched instead specific route

    - by Supertino7
www.domain.com community :action/* member/profile-(\d+)-(.+) member/profile-%d-%s 1 2 As you can see, I use a route with :action/* in to cover the homepages and the basics actions on index controller. domain.com/community/random_action = works good. domain.com/community/ doesn't work. The whole homepage is displayed. I checked, and the default route is matched. I tried assemble() on route "www-community-index" and it gives well www.domain.com/community I don't see from where comes the problem :(

  • How to implement a custom cell renderer for ScrollTable in GWT

    - by tronda
I've used the ScrollTable widget for GWT and I have a need for a custom cell renderer so I can isolate this code from the rest of the app. I would like to use generics if possible to get it type safe. This cell renderer will take a long as a value and do some calculation before displaying the result. Anyone having a good example on how to implement such a custom renderer?
