• Firewall issue with multiple SIP PROXY / REGISTRAR servers

  Hi We have a pair of Internet-facing SIP PROXY/REGISTRAR servers (for resilienced and load-balancing). When a SIP phone registers, it will be handled by one of the REGISTRAR servers (round-robin DNS) - and since this registration is renewed, the firewall port/address translation is maintained. Therefore, when a call is to be sent back to the phone the INVITE message passes successfully through the firewall. However, it is likely that the phone may register with one of the two servers, but the INVITE may come from the other. In this situation, the call fails since there is no translation in place on the firewall. Is there a feature in the SIP protocol to facilitate this? Any other ideas? As our traffic grows, we will no doubt end-up with more than two servers - so the problem will escalate. Thanks, Mike

• How to uninstall a Fire fox add-on that doesn't want to be uninstalled?

  Let's say I installed a program, called "E" . Said program requests to install a Firefox add-on. Now the add-on doesn't work due to being incompatible. Because it came with E i uninstall E planning to re-install it with out the add-on, but after the E uninstall finishes the add-on is still there in Firefox, disabled and with the buttons grayed out. Moreover, Firefox displays the "Restart Firefox to uninstall this add-on" message but no matter how many times it's restarted the loop wont end. Is there any way to uninstall E's add-on?

• Rendering extension-less files with php creates 404 errors when accessing the directory index

  I'm trying to render all files in a directory as php files. These files don't have any extension. I do this by adding the following .htaccess file: SetHandler application/x-httpd-php5 DirectoryIndex index index.php index.html The problem is that I'm getting 404 errors when accessing the index file on a url. For instance http://foo.com/mydir/ will result in a 404 error (in the logs) and a "No input file specified" message in the browser. If I remove the SetHandler line things work correctly for the index file but my other pages do not render as php. PHP 5.2.11 Apache 2.2.14 Linux Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong?

  I am using vb to send emails through outlook. Currently we have a mix of outlook versions at our office: 2010 and 2013 with a mix of 32 bit and 64 bit (a mess, I know). I have tried googling around but there doesn't seem to be much out there referencing 2013 but I feel that the problem here probably has more to do with 64 bit than the software version. • How can I register a custom protocol with xdg ?

  I've been struggling this morning trying to associate an application with a custom protocol, namely emacsclient and org-protocol. I'm calling this protocol from a webbrowser bookmarklet, and I get the following behaviour : In chromium, the "Launch Application" dialog comes up, and calls xdg-open org-protocol://... which ends up firing a new chromium frame. In firefox, I've tried setting network.protocol-handler.app.org-protocol to an empty string or my emacsclient path, anyhow I get the following error message : "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (org-protocol) isn't associated with any program" without even showing any external application selection dialog. I'm not using any desktop environment, so I need to make this work strictly with xdg, however, despite reading the shared mime info spec etc, I still can't fathom a working configuration.

  Hi, I installed CentOs on VMware Player 3.0.1 running on windows XP. When trying to configure it to connect to the internet in a bridged configuration, I get an error message when trying to bring up the network interface: [root@VMLinux ~]# /et/init.d/network start Bringing up loopback interface: [ OK ] Bringing up interface eth0: Determining IP information for eth0... failed [FAILED] VM is running on a machine that has access to the network, I tried it on two different networks that have DHCP enabled. Everything works fine when using a NAT connection through my host. How can I make the bridge work for me? Thanks.

• Flash player stops working in Firefox

  First of all please be merciful as I am a 2 days ubuntu user. I've only used Windows OSs before. Hardware configuration -Quad Core Q6600 CPU -4 GB RAM -Geforce 8800GT 512 MB RAM -Seagate 320GB Harddisk I installed ubuntu x64 and everything went smooth. I had Adoble flash player installed from Ubuntu Software Center. The problem is that the flash videos on youtube (basically on all pages) looked pixelate. I use Firefox 3.6 that came with ubuntu by default. After reading around here I saw something about overriding hardware acceleration but that didn't work either. Or maybe I just didn't do it correctly. The problem was that if I opened 2-3 youtube tabs, when closing one of them, in 95% of the cases, the flash plugin would crash in remaining tabs and a black screen was instead of the video. After doing some more search I discovered the FlashAid extension for Firefox. I installed it and it made an update of flash plugin. Now the videos look good but now each time I watch a video, when switching to another one the flash plugin crashes and I can see insead of the vide the firefox message with Plugin has crasshed, refresh the page. Basically this is what I miss to have a complete pleasant ubuntu experience. Any ideas how to fix this? Thank you

  Howdie Scenario: Allow developers to submit new application packages to a market server. Developers run a bash script which contains a cURL call to market server (localhost/market/submit/$app-name). The submit script on the server creates a new folder in existing svn server with the name of the submitted app. Script on dev side waits for HTTP to issue a success message and then do a svn checkout in dev local machine. Problem: The submit script on the market server failed to create new svn directory through code: echo `svnadmin mkdir -m 'added new package $package' http://localhost/market/packages/$package`; this does not echo nothing and when I go on http://localhost/market/packages, the folder has not been added and the revision number has not been incremented. I've tried from a terminal in market server chown root:www-data /usr/bin/svnadmin but still no luck. Somebody has come acrosss similar problem? Any solutions? Thanks! • Java IDE written in pure Java?

  Is there a Java IDE written in Java? I just got my year 9 DET laptop today at school, and there are all sorts of restrictions set in place. Somewhat annoyingly, you cannot run any executable other than the ones already installed on the system (for some reason they haven't disabled the use of Command Prompt, PowerShell, or strangely enough, regedit). They allow you to run Java executables, so I thought that would be the only way to be able to program on my crappy laptop at school (when I have finished all my work, naturally) :D Edit: By written in Java, I also mean that the executable, that is used to run the program, has the file extension ".jar", thus running on the JVM. Edit 2: I tried the DrJava IDE, and it worked great, thanks (I can compile and execute programs)! Regarding running Eclipse as through the command line using the command "java -jar "C:/Users.../org.eclipse..."". This results in an error producing a log saying file, the main error is: MESSAGE An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.eclipse.ui.workbench (182). How do I fix this error (I much perfer working with Eclipse than any other IDE)? Edit 3: Regarding my last edit, just disregard it :D. I fixed the problem by downloading the latest version of Eclipse.

• How to keep haproxy log messages out of /var/log/syslog

  I set up haproxy logging via rsyslogd using the tips from this article, and everything seems to be working fine. The log files get the log messages. However, every log message from haproxy also shows up at /var/log/syslog. This means that once the server goes live, the syslog will be quite useless, as it will be run over with haproxy log messages. I would like to filter out those messages from /var/log/syslog. After going over the rsyslogd documentation, I tried to change the file /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf thus: *.*;auth,authpriv.none;haproxy.none -/var/log/syslog I simply added the ;haproxy.nonepart. After restarting rsyslogd it stopped working completely until I reverted my changes. What am I doing wrong?

• Help with setting up AIM account

  Can anyone help me configure my AIM account? I have Oneiric and I want to set up my AIM account with what I believe is a chat client (the envelope icon on the top right). It is called Empathy. \n I tried to do this using Broadcast Account. It let me choose what account (Jabber, Pidgin, Aim, etc...). Once I entered my password for my AIM account, I got a pop-up asking for the master password for my Keyring. I didn't know what that was at the time so I closed that window after trying to enter my account password. Keyring apparently asks for a master password and it holds any keys you want to remember in the future. It gave me an error so I couldn't set up my AIM account completely. Now I'm trying to get back to that screen but I can only set up a Twitter or Facebook. Thanks, Aaron P.S. Can anyone tell me how to break the message up so it doesn't appear all on one line? I tried 'coding' a \n...seemed to work.

• Iphone/Android app – chatroom development – what framework & hosting needs?

  I have some experience regarding IPhone and Android development but I am now struggling to solve a new class of problem: apps that involve a client/server chatroom feature. That is, an app when people can exchange text over the internet, and without having the app to constantly “pull” content from the server. So that problem can’t be solved with a normal php/mysql website, there must be some kind of application running on a server that is able to send message from the server to the phone, rather than having the phone to check for new messages every 10 seconds… So I’m looking for ways to solve the different problems here: What framework should I use on the two sides (phone / server)? It should be some kind of library that doesn’t prevent me to write paid apps. It should also be possible to have the same server for the Iphone and android version of the app. What server / hosting solution do I need with what sort of features, I just have no experience regarding server application that can handle and initiate multiple connections and are hosted on hardware that is always online I tried to find resources online but couldn’t so far, either the libraries had the wrong kind of license/language or I just didn’t understand… Sometimes there were nice tutorial but for different needs such as peer2peer chat over local network… Same with the server and the hosting problem, not sure where to start really, I’m calling for help and I promise I will complete this page with notes about the experience I will get :-) Obviously the ideal would be to find a tutorial I missed that include client code, server code and a free scalable server… That being said, If I see something as good, it probably means that I have eaten the wrong kind of mushroom again… So, failing that, any pointer which might help me toward that quest, would be greatly appreciated. • fsck: FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED after each check with -c, why?

  Hi I use a script to partition and format CF cards (connected with a USB card writer) in an automated way. After the main process I check the card again with fsck. To check bad blocks I also tried the '-c' switch, but I always get a return value != 0 and the message "FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED" (see below). I get the same result when checking the very same drive several times... Does anyone know why a) the file system is modified at all and b) why this seems to happen every time I check and not only in case of an error (like bad blocks)? • Can't install Ubuntu on my Windows 7 laptop

  I tried installing Ubuntu in two different ways: First, I tried the Windows Installer, and it goes well until I reboot the system and, when booting on Ubuntu, I get the error: No root file system defined. Second, I uninstalled wubi by going to to Control Panel - Uninstall Programs - Ubuntu. Then, I booted the laptop from the live CD and selected install. It boots okay but in the screen right after the one that says to make sure you have 4.5 GB available, Internet connection, etc, when I click continue it throws me a message saying that Ubuntu had an internal error and asks me if I want to report the error. After that, I just have a black screen and nothing else! No Ubuntu installed, no boot option to go back to Windows. Nothing! My goal is to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7 (without the hassle of formatting the computer, creating partition, etc). How can I do it (preferable using Windows Installer)? How can I solve the "No root file system defined" that I encountered when I used the Windows Installer?

  Dear all, I just created a new POP3 account in my 2003 Outlook. I checked the settings and the Inbox-Outbox are working well. However if I send from my standard Outlook POP3 account a mail to my Second one I do not receive it. I receive the message: 550-Mailbox unknown. Either there is no mailbox associated with this 550-name or you do not have authorization to see it. 550 5.1.1 User unknown Does anybody know how to fix this. Many thanks.Peter

• Configuration Manager Setting Causing Error PRJ0019

  Recently I ran into an issue with a project failing to build on an automated build server using CruiseControl. When I looked into the build log I saw that the Post-Build project was failing with the error message: "error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from "Performing Post-Build Event..." This was most frustrating especially since the solution was building without issue on my local development environment. The Post-Build project was a C++ project that basically called several batch files to unregister/register assemblies, copy resources and supporting files, and place other dependencies in the GAC. I decided to run each of the batch files manually to see if that would provide more information as to why this project was failing. This lead me to determine that the batch file that was placing assemblies in the GAC was the culprit and that it was failing to find a particular assembly. The missing assembly was the output of another project. The project that was not producing the expected output was another C++ project that called a batch file. This batch process was actually embedding resource files into an assembly and then copying the assembly to the expected location. The real confusion started when I looked back into my Subversion log and noted that nothing had changed in this project in more than 2 months! It was almost as if the project had stopped building altogether. But what would cause that?! The Configuration Manager, obviously! Checking the solution's Configuration Manager settings, I found that the project that was not producing any output was in fact not selected to be part of the build process when the "Any CPU" platform was selected. This was the problem! I had recently updated the CruiseControl configurations to force the solution to be built targeting the platform "Any CPU". As a result, the project that was at the root of the problem was not configured to be built and the post-build process was failing when it couldn't find what it needed.

• Why does Komodo edit not open files on doubleclick due to some path encoding error?

  When I double click a file in finder to open in Komodo edit, it displays an error message saying it can't find the file and the path is displayed, but with wrong encoding, such that special characters such as "ó" and "ð" are displayed as some weird boxes. Screenshot: http://i51.tinypic.com/2qkleg4.jpg I'm running OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and Komodo Edit version 5: "Komodo Edit, version 5.2.4, build 4343, platform macosx-x86. Built on Tue Dec 8 18:18:35 2009." When I drag the file into Komodo edit it opens just fine displaying the path correctly with "ó"s and all :P This doesn't happen if I right click the file in finder and select to open it with TextEdit or Word or (God forbid) MacVim - only when I select to open it in Komodo edit. This is annoying as all hell.

• Parallels 5: upgrade from Vista to Win 7: annoying deadlock

  What I have: Parallels 5, Vista installed. Trying to upgrade to Win 7. I have the Win7 .iso mounted as a DVD to my virtual machine. When I start the machine from this DVD, and attempt the upgrade, I'm told (paraphrased) "You booted from DVD. Don't do this. Reboot, then insert the DVD, commence the upgrade from there." But when I try that, the upgrade keeps failing because "There is not enough disk space". I've proven this is a red herring of an error message; the real problem is the installer can't find -any- disk drives. When I instead choose the "Advanced" install, and I am prompted to choose the disk drive, there aren't any to choose from. How do unblock this deadlock?

• How do I install FreeNX server so that it works correctly?

  I've tried every single possible way of installing the server now, I've read every how to available and I still can't get it to work. Please let me know in which step I do wrong. I'm using ubuntu 10.10. I will mainly be referring to the following how-to, but also this, and this one. First I add the ppa Install Freenx Download the special Freenx package as stated in the howto, fix ownership - install it Create custom SSH key Copy the file /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key to the client and import it in nomachine (windows 7 x64) Check that both the user I will be logging in with and the user nx is in AllowedUsers in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file Check the port that ssh is listening on Login through nomachine with my regular user account in ubuntu I always receive the message "authentication failed for [user]" when I try to log in. And I can't see the user "nx" which is said to be created during installation when I look under System-Administration-"Users & Groups". Can anyone please enlighten me if there is any step that I miss or have misunderstood? Thank you very much! (Or is there an easier way of enabling remote desktop that it can be used with a windows machine? I prefer not using VNC because I was hoping of being able to get better performance than that. And when I tried using XRDP I only received a black screen on the client.)

• Eclipse Juno failing to start with Java returning 1 error report
