Posting a form with anchor link at the end?

I have a form for comments like the one below but after the form is posted I wish to navigate to http://www.myurl.com/mypage#commentform but I don't know how to do this. Where can an absolute beginner of Kohana PHP go to learn how to use it from the ground up?

Hi guys! I have a month of free time and I've decided to launch my own website. It's going to be big and have dymanic content where different users with different roles can perform modifications to the site. Place comments, rate stores, list items, etc. This sound like a perfect opportunity for me to expand my horizons and learn a PHP Framework. I've used PHP bare bones before but nothing too complex. As of now, do you think Kohana is a mature framework to use? I've used Zend in the past for a course in Uni but it sucked horribly, I was new to the MVC model, but Zend had pretty much zero workable tutorials and guides for newbies. That's why I hated it. Where can I go to learn how to use Kohana from a retarded starting point? Thank you very much for your time.

Hi, I have a problem following from my previous problem. I also have the code SwingUtillities.invokeAndWait somewhere else in the code base, but when I remove this the gui does not refresh. MongoDB query to return only embedded document

Can I do transactions and locks in CouchDB?

I need to do transactions (begin, commit or rollback), locks (select for update). How can I do it in a document model db? Edit: The case is this: I want to run an auctions site. And I think how to direct purchase as well. In a direct purchase I have to decrement the quantity field in the item record, but only if the quantity is greater than zero. That is why I need locks and transactions. I don't know how to address that without locks and/or transactions. Can I solve this with CouchDB?

Preferred Method Of Application Purchase

This is more of a "programmers" question, but felt that it was technical enough to belong on Stack Overflow instead. I'm launching an application soon that will follow the shareware model of purchase. I've thought about implementing this in a few ways: Limited access to the application until they purchase Full access to the application but expires after 30 day, requiring them to purchase to retain utility. Full access to the application indefinitely, but with a 10-15 second pop-up box on start-up asking them to register -- like mIRC does (or used to do). The method of authentication will be web-based. I'll provide them with an authentication key and they'll put it in the application. Whenever the application boots up, it'll check my web service and determine whether the application is genuine or not. This isn't my question. My question is: Is there a preferred method of implementation? I'd like to piss off the users as little as possible, but I'd also like to get paid for my work.

Grasp Controller, Does it really need a UI to exist?

I have a Domain model which can be in multiple states, and if these states go out of a given range it the domain should automatically react. For example I have a Car which is made of multiple things which have measurements the Engine - Rev counter and Temperature the Fuel Tank - capacity Is is plaseable to have a CarStateController, which observses the engine and the tank, and if these states go out of range IE the engine temperature goes above range, turn the engine fan on?? There is no UI, (you could argue it would show a light on the dash board, but for this case it does not) is this a valid use of a GRASP controller pattern? if not what is this CarStateController Called? Or have I completely missed the point and this should be the State Pattern?

How can I avoid running ActiveRecord callbacks?

I have some models that have after_save callbacks. Usually that's fine, but in some situations, like when creating development data, I want to save the models without having the callbacks run. Is there a simple way to do that? Something akin to... Person#save( :run_callbacks => false ) or Person#save_without_callbacks I looked in the Rails docs and didn't find anything. However in my experience the Rails docs don't always tell the whole story. UPDATE I found a blog post that explains how you can remove callbacks from a model like this: Foo.after_save.clear I couldn't find where that method is documented but it seems to work.

Hidden Input Elements in Firefox

I'm having troubles with fckeditor in Firefox. When the user goes to a page, the html (encoded) is stored in a hidden input element. I call the predefined fckeditor javascript event to populate my editor with the html from the hidden ContentBody element. function FCKeditor_OnComplete( editorInstance ) { editorInstance.InsertHtml(""); var sample = document.getElementById("ContentBody").value; editorInstance.InsertHtml(sample); } This automatically populates the editor with the desired text in IE, but in Firefox it doesn't. Firebug gives me the error : A is null [Break on this error] var FCKW3CRange=function(A){this._Docume...eateFromRange(this._Document,this);}};\r\n Using Firebug I can determine that the event method FCKeditor_OnComplete() just isn't fired when using Firefox. What goes between SQL Server and Client?

This question is an updated version of a previous question I have asked on here. I am new to client-server model with SQL Server as the relational database. I have read that public access to SQL Server is not secure. If direct access to the database is not a good practice, then what kind of layer should be placed between the server and the client? Note that I have a desktop application that will serve as the client and a remote SQL Server database that will provide data to the client. The client will input their username and password in order to see their data. I have heard of terms like VPN, ISA, TMG, Terminal Services, proxy server, and so on. I need a fast and secure n-tier architecture. P.S. I have heard of web services in front of the database. Can I use WCF to retrieve, update, insert data? Would it be a good approach in terms of security and performance?

Modify links in CListView pager to follow routing

The problem is that I have routed blog/posts to posts. I am on blog/posts now and all the links in the Pager is showing me posts/index?page=2, page/index?page=3. I want to have the pager showing links to blog/posts/index?page=2, blog/posts/index?page=3 This my current routing for this: 'urlFormat'=>'path', 'rules'=>array( 'blog/posts' => 'posts', How should I do this? Passing parameters into ViewModels (Prism)

Hi I can't figure out how to pass parameters to my viewmodels from other views or viewmodels. For instance, I have a View called Customers. There is a grid inside, and if you double-click the grid, a new view is supposed to come up and allow you to edit that customer's data. But how will the View(Model) responsible for editing data know which customer it's supposed to open if I can't pass any parameters inside? EventAggregator is out of the question because I obviously can't create hundreds of eventargs, each for one view. And besides, it's a lousy solution. So far I was able to come up with: CustomerDataView custView = new CustomerDataView(customerId, currentContext); manager.Regions[RegionNames.Sidebar].AddAndActivate(custView); What do you think about this particular solution? Is this the way it's normally done? What I don't like about this is the fact that I lose out on automatic dependency injection by Unity.

Sharepoint 2010, get the Distinct Values of a User Profile Property?

Is there any way in SharePoint 2010 to get the Distinct values of a property accross all users? For example, I want a list of all Departments in the Profile Store. In SQL I can do SELECT DISTINCT(PropertyVal) FROM [ProfileDB].[dbo].[UserProfileValue] WHERE PropertyID = 14 but accessing the SQL Database is a big no-no of course, so I wonder if there is something in the object model? Note that accessing the User Information List on an SPSite is not good enough, as only a fraction of all users is in that list. I want to get it directly from the Profile Store.

Concise description of the lua vm?

I've skimmed Programing in Lua, I've looked at the Lua Reference. However, they both tells me this function does this, but not how. When reading SICP, I got this feeling of: "ah, here's the computational model underlying scheme"; I'm trying to get the same sense concerning lua -- i.e. a concise description of it's vm, a "how" rather than a "what". Does anyone know of a good document (besides the C source) describing this? Thanks!

School Project for final year

Hi people, I'm in final year of my degree and it is required that i do a final year project. I have decided to do something on adaptive websites that implements customisation, personalisation and basically adaptation via heat maps and weblogs. So for a prototype i would be designing a website for tertairy level students and see if these technologies improve the usbability of the site. i would model it after my school's website. So here's the question, What would be a better language to use.. i have some knowledge in struts 2 framework and some knowledge in php. could say a newbie at both.. so i was wondering what would be the easier and faster way to go. php or the struts2 framework? thanks.

Best Ruby ORM for Wrapping around Legacy SQL Server Database?

Hi. I found this answer and it sounds like almost exactly what I'm doing. I have heard mixed answers about whether or not datamapper can support SQL Server through dataobjects. Basically, we have an app that uses a consistently structured database, consistently named tables, etc in SQL Server. We're making all kinds of tools and stuff that have to interact with it, some of them remotely and so I decided that we need to create some common, simple access point to do read/write operations on the SQL Server app since it's API is all C# and other things I despise. Now my question is if anyone has any examples or projects they know of where a ruby ORM can essentially create models for another application's legacy database by defining the conventions of each model's pkeys, fkeys, table names, etc. Sequel is the only ORM I've used with SQL Server but never to do anything quite like this. Any suggestions?

Change text_factory in Django/sqlite

I have a django project that uses a sqlite database that can be written to by an external tool. The text is supposed to be UTF-8, but in some cases there will be errors in the encoding. The text is from an external source, so I cannot control the encoding. Yes, I know that I could write a "wrapping layer" between the external source and the database, but I prefer not having to do this, especially since the database already contains a lot of "bad" data. The solution in sqlite is to change the text_factory to something like: lambda x: unicode(x, "utf-8", "ignore") However, I don't know how to tell the Django model driver this.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue im having, basically id like to have Account.create after a PayPal notification is received, There is a simple cart model which corresponds to line_items within the cart so add_account_to_market would look like this in pseudo code def add_account_to_market if status == "Completed" find the line items(via cart_id) that correspond to the cart.id that just been paid create an account with user_id set to the current carts user id end end Ive never tried to do something like this in Rails and its not working, Ive been pulling my hair out all night trying to fix this, hopefully someone can help or point me in the right direction. How to build a Windows Forms email-aware text box?

Hi, I'm building a C# client app that allows a user to communicate with one or more existing users in a system via an email-like metaphor. I'd like to present the user with a text entry box that auto-completes on known email addresses, and allows multiple delimiter-separated addresses to be entered. Ideally, I'd also like the email addresses to turn into structured controls once they've been entered and recognized. Basically, I'm modeling the UI interaction for adding users after Facebook's model. Are there any Windows Forms controls out there with the ability to do something like this? Is there any well-established terminology for a hybrid textbox / control list box (no, not a ComboBox) or something that I should be searching for? Thanks, -Patrick

Assigning a material in Blender with a script

Question: How do you assign a material with a script to an object in blender? Info: I have this script to import a proprietary model type of mine that is basically a star map with object consisting of a single vertex. in order to make them look like stars and be visible they are all going to have a halo material assigned to them. I'm figuring out how to make this material and give it the values just fine, but I can't seem to get it to assign. I tried the most obvious thing which was: objectName.setMaterial(materialName) but that did nothing. and when i would take an object that had a material and call the getMaterial function on it, it would return nothing. there is something I'm missing here, can some one shed some light on it? I'm seeing something weird in my actionscript code I have two classes foo and bar, bar extends foo. In a model class I have a foo member variable, I assign an bar object to the foo variable. But after the assignment the foo variable is null.
