    Hi there, I´ve got an jpeg image with text on it (badly scanned document), which is hardly readable. I have already played around with the sharpen filters, contrast, levels and the color replacement tool, with decent success. however my question is, what else can be done order to maximize the texts readablity? the picture is also somewhat noisy. Any help on this one would be greatly apreciated, since I absolutely need the images content.

  • hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys... rebuilt on boot?

    I need to take an image of a drive. I'm working from a bootable CD, so I have the option to decruft before taking the image. The Windows installation on the drive has both hyberfil.sys and pagefile.sys which I would rather not include in the image. If I delete these from the drive, will Windows recreate these files if necessary? EDIT The Windows installation on the drive in question was shut-down cleanly.

    I'm looking at using ConfigServer Security and Firewall (CSF; iptables-based). After I configure it properly, how much daily ongoing management is required of me to keep my server secure? Am I going to be flooded with "alert" emails that I need to check? Or does the firewall automatically take care of most security threats for me? Note: I understand that there's more to server security than just a software firewall, but this question is specifically for CSF security management.

Is there a way for me to make a sample file (30 seconds long or something like that) that I can analyse using different applications (not just the built in sample preview).   • Having a netbook with closed lid will decrease the lifespan of it?

    I need a cheap netbook for "router" functions. [OpenBSD/Scientific Linux/whatever will be on it on OS level]. So once I configure it I will put it somewhere down for YEARS. The Question is: What is the lifespan difference of the netbook if it will be [for years]: with opened lid with closed lid I don't think there will be heat problems, because netbooks doesn't produce too much heat. But will ex.: a closed lid [for years] decrease the lifespan of a netbook?

    This is my first question to "superuser", hope you guys help me. I have Windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise installed in my system, by mistake I clicked the "Compress disk" of my C drive. Now when I am restarting, I met a message at start up that "BootMGR is compressed, Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" Its been 2 days I am searching every where to solve the problem, but all I found only for Vista and windows 7 only.     Hello, I'm on shared hosting and today i discovered there are some backdoor script.. in .htaccess and a php file. So i went to check via FTP, cannot edit nor delete. So i checked with direct admin.. the file permission(GUID, UID) is set by APACHE while rest of file is set by my username, So my question now is.. the trojan did this is originated from my computer or host side?

    This particular problem has little do with SubVersion Repositories and more to do with the management of installed programs. My question revolves around the problem of installing a program from source. If I where to build a distro with no package management system what possibilities would I have for maintaining the program is up to date. My only idea would be to keep a record of all the programs installed from source and perform a periodic check to identify if a new version is out.

    I had my greatest moment of incredible stupidity and deleted all hidden files of the Windows partition, most commonly known as C:\, while running Gnu/Linux. All the directories are intact. I instantly unmounted it, and run ntfsundelete, though of the thousands entries I wonder which ones I have to recover. So hence my question: Which files located directly under C:\ are necessary for Windows 7 to boot?

    I have set up a local network and it seems that some of us can use it properly while others can't. The problem seems to be that the local hostnames I setup don't get resolved for everyone. But in public hosting their are limitations when compared to private hosting such as monthly bandwidth usage (1 GB), disk space, cpu usage etc. I am planning to embedd videos and audios (from other websites like youtube) to my already existing website. My question is if a client streams a embedded video/audio (hosted in another website) from my website any change in bandwidth occurs.

    I recently downloaded a piece of software that came in a .ZIP archive, but the .EXE software inside of the archive had a password on it. The website that I would have gotten the password from closed a while ago. Because the executable is password protected it cannot be extracted. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, and I use winrar for my archives. So, I guess my question is is it possible to crack a password for a file within an archive without extracting it?

It contains 3 subdirectories. 1st = Program Files, containg zero volume 2nd = Users, containing zero volume 3rd = Windows, containing 693 MB (726.823.197 bytes) on harddrive It all looks a bit useless to me, so question is: Is it safe to delete the lot?   • Is there a performance pentalty using in-place models/families in a large Revit project

However i noticed Revit also organising inplace models lumping them with the rest of the families. So my question is: Is there really any performance penalty/benefit to be had by inserting families from an external file as opposed to creating inplace models in a Revit project?
