• Why do most programming languages only support returning a single value from a function?

  Is there a reason or an explanation why functions in most(?) programming languages are designed to support any number of input parameters but only one return value? In most languages, it is possible to "work around" that limitation, e.g. by using out-parameters, returning pointers or by defining/returning structs/classes. But it seems strange, that programming languages were not designed to support multiple return values in a more "natural" way.

  I am aware that in Unity we can add world time by clicking on time bar. However, it's still a list of locations and sometimes it may be hard to quickly find the timezone of interest. Is there any tool which can put a multiple clock instances on the desktop representing each timezone of interest? Similar to the clock in Windows 7. To be more clear, I am not looking for a weather widget, but a simple clock widget so that I can track time in different timezones.

  I am creating a game engine using the JBox2D physics engine. It only allows you to create polygon fixtures up to 8 vertices, To create a body with more than 8 vertices, you need to create multiple fixtures for the body. My question is, How can I split the polygons a user creates into smaller polygons for JBox2D? Also, what topology should I use when splitting the polygons and why? (If JBox2D can have up to 8 vertices, why not split polygons into 8 per polygon)

  I have deleted all files and all hidden files off my server, there is nothing but log files which cannot be deleted. Ironically, files are accessible when nothing is there. Cache cleared, multiple browsers and computers/devices checked. To name a few I have tried so far and why they are unsuitable: oggenc is single-threaded and would require me to automate it myself, mencoder requires the input to also contain video, and abcde assumes the input is a CD. The ideal tool should be multi-threaded, and support inputing multiple files located in different directories simultaneously. CLI or GUI makes no matter. Does such a tool exist?

  We have a page where a user can sign a pledge to recycle by clicking a pledge button. A script writes it to a text file which updates the number on the page. In the past 2 days there have been 185 pledges signed but only 63 page views in GA. I trust that they are unique pledges and not just people adding multiple fake names and entering it. Is there anyway to get a better report from Google Analytics?

  I have a 4gb ram macbook pro but I still run out of memory when I have chrome and a few other light weight applications open such as multiple windows of macvim. I'm installing sickrage and couchpotato and headphones, and will be doing multiple installs I made a small batch script just to install everything but what I don't know how to do is automatically make them auto start on boot. Since they all require a file to be created I do not know how to make this file auto create and populate what needs to be put into it.
